11:35 pm
both sides are still spinning the clash scene around the world.
11:36 pm
every chance he gets. >> what people saw last night was donald trump take command of the stage. >> this was the most watched debate in our history. tonight we have the final score card. plus a closer look at the battle of florida and a new round in the director darrens challenge. this is money, power & politics. four years ago mitt romney walloped president obama in th we scored it as a run away for romney. someone accused me of being biassed in favor of republicans. hillary clintonout scored trump and some accuse me of being biassed if favor to have democrat. s. we score the candidates based on the merits of their performances. specifically, how well they connect persuadable voters. this year you may think more people are locked into one side or the other but they are not. more people are undecided this
11:37 pm
and this .8 years ago and 12 years ago. i scored based on key moments that may move the needle. i start with the best moment for trump. he nailed clinton for waffling on trade and got her to say something that's not true. >> i was against it once it was finally negotiated and the terms were laid out. i wrote about that. >> you called it the gold standard. you c of trade deals. you said it's the finest deal you've seen. >> i know you live in your own reality but that's not the facts. >> trump was right about that. clinton did call the transpacific partnership the gold standard and later changed her opinion on it. trump scored points in areas reeling from manufacturing losses. that could help him in states like ohio and pennsylvania. up to that point for the first few minutes, trump was winning
11:38 pm
things that just weren't true. in fact, that started before the debate started when trump declared lester holt a democrat when he's a republican. >> he said lester holt was a democrat. he's a republican. how could he say such a thing that just black and white, factually incorrect. >> i don't know he knew what lester hoelts voter registration was. >> trump spoke out without knowing the that may have cost trump over and over again. crime continues to drop including murders. >> you're wrong. murders are up. >> murders in new york after stop and frisk are not up according to the stats. >> stop and frisk was ruled unconstitutional in new york because it largely singled out black and hispanic young men. >> you're wrong. >> stop and frisk was in fact ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge.
11:39 pm
change is a hoax perpetrated by the chinese. i think it's real. >> i do not say that. >> here's trump's own tweet. the concept of global warning was created by and for the chinese to make u.s. manufacturing noncompetitive. trump also played right into clinton's speculation that he pays no federal taxes by saying, that makes me smart. he could not explain why he pressed the birther issue for years after the president released his american certificate. >> the birth certificate was produced in 2011. you continued to tell the story and question the president's legitimacy in 2012, 13, 14, 15. as recently as january. what changed your mind? >> nobody was pressing it. nobody was caring much about it. i figured you'd ask the question tonight. but nobody was caring much about it. i was the one that got him to produce the birth certificate. i think i did a good job. >> trump didn't help this
11:40 pm
he called ms. universe ms. piggy by insulting her weight. >> she was the winner and gained a massive amount of weight. >> overall a score that night for hillary clinton on points but trump still has two more chances to strike back. and from president obama to president reagan we've seen the loser of round one flip the tables and the race in round two. trump may have already found an opening on the issue of trade. again, that's where he had her on the ropes at little while. it's something we'll drill into with clintons director of political engagement in the second half of the show. on the lighter side we put our own debate skills and ability to think on our feet to the test. merissa and russell are back for another round of password challenge. >> coming out to camera 7 on a three shot. in 3, 2, cue... okay.
11:41 pm
talk about. not only do we have to play password challenge by repeating a phrase in our conversation he gives us in our ear on the spot. you have to say it a certain such a way. he gets to call the shots. he might say a certain phrase a certain way and you have to repeat the same. but in the time being we have a lot of ground to cover. you've got hillary clinton who is the state. a huge advantage over trump in dollars, too. spending in ads but that does not appear to move the needle as much. >> like we talked earlier this week. we talked about the millennials. foschizil. >> in terms of her gaining ground. >> there's a certain term they use, foschizel. ads that have a lot of pizazz.
11:42 pm
>> those ads from the clinton camp. that's part why the needle is not moving. >> oh, yeah, boy i totally agree with that. >> what do you expect her to do. putting on pinata pumps in order to get the voters. >> what are pinata pumps? >> i don't know that's what he said in my ear. >> come on russell. >> the things they used to pump the candy into the pinata. >> there you go. heels. sorry. >> so you're pumping candy or the analogy money into the race. somebody has to strike that pinata and take it down. ultimately the candy representing voters pouring down in all of them. >> loaded for bear. >> i think because donald trump is loaded for bear. hi comes out of this race and he's got a lot of things to hammer on that podium and stage that's not necessarily scripted
11:43 pm
loaded for bear this way. >> sissy sunshine. >> negated a bit by being loads for bear on the campaign trails. >> what do you expect her to do. go out and be sissy sunshine and sell this in a way that's going to convince the my len y'all, as we've been talking about and other florida voters. >> how does that relate to clinton? >> sissy sunshine. be happy, be that? >> py t, pretty young thing. >> i feel like i'm set up for disaster. >> i feel she needs to appeal more to the py ts. the pretty young thing. >> cullganman. >> the younger folk. >> if she can connect with
11:44 pm
way your pulling the hat trick. what is it again? the pretty young thing. >> that's right. when you go in that direction, as well, then you can close the gap and pull off the hot hat trick in november. >> sounds good to me. >> yellow yingling. >> he's saying words and i can't say. hey cullgan man. i can't i i can't make this work. i'm destroyed by you. i'm done. >> all right. >> blame it on -- >> thank you. in 3, 2, 1... coming up. inside google on what people
11:45 pm
plus we'll drill into clinton's shift on trade with her director of political engagement. i wore a badge for 38 years knowing how much you trusted us to keep you safe. yet when a officer was killed in action florida was not doing enough to give their families the help they desperately needed. dana young understood. that was wrong, so we changed that law. to ensure these families get the benefits they are entitled to and the honor they deserve. dana young has our back and she has yours.

11:46 pm
we know what a lot of people were thinking as the debate played out based on what they asked or searched for on google. it shows a lot of people tuned in are not yet clear on some of the driving things in the race. among the top questions about hillary clinton, for example,
11:47 pm
what e-mails did she delete and why. among the top questions about trump, did he support the iraq war? is stop and frisk unconstitutional? how much money did he get from his dad? and how many times did he declare bankruptcy. we have evidence that clinton drew more interest in this than did donald trump. google says search interest or who had more people searching for them can in fact be an indicator of who did better and clinton did have the edge on that. hillary clinton did get about interests nationally. compared to donald trump who received roughly 40%. and this is actually not the norm in 2016. this is only the fifth time that we've seen hillary clinton surpass donald trump nationally with search interests. >> trump did not hit clinton on questions about her foundation or ties to wall street as bernie sanders did in the past. he did hit clinton on her shifting position on trade. and that's where clinton could be vulnerable in round two.
11:48 pm
clintons director of political engagement. welcome marlin marshall di reck to have of states for the clinton camp. thank you for joining us. >> thank you for having me. let's talk expectations. where do you expect the polls to be by the end of the week based on what you saw after monday nights debate. >> polls ebb and flow. i've seen polls that show up three. i've seen polls that show us down three. particularly in florida a we have hundreds of staff, over sixty offices. no matter what the pollses show we continue to build an organization that going to register voter, turn people out and we plan on winning florida. >> do you expect the polls to go up based on what you saw? >> here's what i know. secretary clinton had a great night last night. she got a chance to talk to the american people about plans to move the economy forward. how we are stronger together if we work together. we can move this country
11:49 pm
is someone who clearly showed he does not have the temperment to be the president of the united states. i think the american people saw a clear choice last night between who can step in the white house and be ready on day one. versus someone who with a tweet just a couple of words can get off kilter and show he lacks the temperment to be the president of the united states. >> fact checkers called out hillary clinton near the start on matters of trade specifically t-p-p. trump said she called ithe she said, month. that's not the case. she went after trump for playing loose with the facts when a-p fact checkers say she did call it the gold standard. address that for me. >> the secretary says about trade all along that she takes every single strayed deal and evaluated the deal to make sure it can can help american workers. if it doesn't do that, she will be against the deal. so when she saw the final version of the t-p-p she was against it because she didn't
11:50 pm
she would do that for any trade deals moving forward. she's voted for some. she voted against others and she addresses trade deal as she'll continue to do that as president of the united states. >> at an earlier point he called it the gold standard but later revised her perspective. >> when secretary of state and they were working on tpp she said it has the potential t a gold standard. when she saw the final product she did not feel it did enough for american workers. that's how she will evaluate every trade deal. what does the product look like? does it help the american people? the answer is no she'll be against it. >> you heard donald trump slam nafta and hillary clinton said that's a matter of opinion. what is the clinton's campaign opinion right now here today on the effectiveness of nasa. >> same thing when it goes to
11:51 pm
trade deal for how it stands. she said there's some things that work for nafta. she said things that have not. she will look at each individual trade deal and say what needs to happen and how does it help the american workers. if it does that's when she will support a trade deal. that's her stance on trade. that's where she will continue to stay and do as president of the united states. >> based on everything you saw last night, is there anything you would advise hillary clinton to change? >> i night. she had a chance to talk to the american people about what she plans to do as president of the united states. information for her plans. so i think she had a great night. i think we're going to continue to take that case to american people. both to her traveling across the country, making her case to folks. both through our organization like the one we have in florida that continues to register voters, particularly today, which is national voter registration day.

bearing down on florida because we're the nations largest battleground. what it will take for each side to win. >> show of hands. who is voting for donald trump? >> in battleground florida the stage is set for another tense election night. and in this tight race, two groups look to play a critical role. hispanics and white retirees. >> life in the villages. >> june is one of the states growing nrm of arrivaling in floridas largest retirement community the villages. where trumped out golf carts spin through the main square. >> i'm voting for donald trump because i do believe that he can stop the terror in the united states. he can vitalize the economy. he can make america great again. >> voting for donald trump. >> i cannot vote for hillary clinton. >> trump strength with florida's older white voters is countered
11:55 pm
corridor. where jennifer maid just opened her latin cafe. >> i'm voting for hillary. i'm about the women power. i'm about women doing changes and i believe that us women are very important and i know that she can be one of the president's that will make changes. >> florida seen a surge of nearly 300 thousand hispanics in the past three years. many of whom are pure toe ree cans. it's already registere 30 thousand voters this year. >> florida gives a big advantage to whoever wins it. >> university of miami officers this formula for victory. >> trump needs to go after older cubans. that's where he's going to have a strong advantage over hillary clinton. hirpt is going to have to target noncuban and younger cuban voters. >> and voter turnout will be crucial. exactly how tight is florida? well as a rule, extremely.
