10:15 pm
>> we may get something good, if it passes to the east, like lower humidity next weekend, but in the meantime, no low humid, humidity, this is pure tropical air. check this out, it's a tropical thursday. sunset on hudson beach with tall clouds, and check that out, sunset at dover. and the clouds brought with them bands of rain that have moved across the peninsula. we are still adding days to our 90-plus records. look at this. tampa has been 90 or above 102 days. the average is 73. st. pete, 55 days. the bay he helping here, and
10:16 pm
the gulf not helping much. 112 days 90 or above and the long-term arrange is 58, almost double that, it's hard to do, it really is. and so today, west wind, lots of tropical moisture, and every once in a while some energy goes by. we'll see a lull tonight, and i think we'll see more west winds tomorrow, with rounds of showers and thunderstorms inland, most of the time it will be rain free, with y will be coming down good. that has diminished quite a bit but very heavy rain for our viewers in manatee and costal areas. rain by punta gorda, and we zoom in and it's not really much at all. north port and englewood, and storms off the coastline. one more stop is off the coast
10:17 pm
small showers that will move on shore late tonight. judging by the satellite presentations and we'll get into advisories at 11:00, the storm is intensifying. we call this a central dense overcast and it's a sign of an intensifying stormers and as we said at 10:00, the forecast as it passes near cuba is to be a cat 2. thank is willing to may it should be at least a cat 3 before it gets buy the island, and so matthew is 14.2, 68.1, p top winds at 75 ad 98 pressure, probably lower than that. and it's going to spin around the this, that is why it's making a ar right hand turn.
10:18 pm
are at risk and then we'll have to watch for the new data to come into the supercomputer models and we'll see if there is a shift to the west. right now there is pretty good agreement of a storm parallelling us and on the east side it's lo a lot worse than on the west side, and so let's hope this storm wide berth. this is thi thursday of next we, and the gfs model has the storm up in canada on saturday at 10:00, and the european model was monday, tuesday, wednesday and thursday has the storm over the bahamas.
10:19 pm
is bahamas. you see why the forecast can be tough? you are dealing with models that are both very good but are all over the boards. and at this point next weekend, that is when the dry air comes in on the backside, and it may introduce a dryer and cooler air mass next week. we'll talk about that of course, when the storm goes by. first things first. costalho tonight and down to 78. tomorrow, one more day of a west wind. now, the wind p flip-flops over the weekend, as matthew impact the wind flow, and as flows go from east to west on saturday, there will be often storms sunday, monday and tuesday with rain chances fairly high for early october and then hopefully some dry weather arrives late
