>> good evening. welcome tonight. i'm mark wilson. i'm kelly ring. and tonight a state of emergency. florida's east coast falling into hurricane matthew ace cone tonight.ot from space shows ther magnitude this storm and it's huge. and the govenor is warning everyone tonight we all need to be prepared. >> these storms can change at theast minute. they can get stronger and change the direction. do not ignore the dir reskts local officials. this is serious depends on you being prepared and staying alert to all warnings and alerts. >> and the govenor has declared a state of emergency for every florida county. and he says hurricane matthew could cause big damage that we ve not seen in more than two decades. >> so far three people have died in haiti. the path of destruction will only continue here. paul will break down the very latest for you. what do you think? i'll tell what you we v. we have

we had a weather instrument in the northwest eye wall night. 886 feet above the caribbean sea. measured winds of 191 miles per hour. but 900 feet above the water. thats a viont hurricane. not necessarily surface winds. gives an idea how strong that storm s. if t- looks very impressive on satellite. i don't know how to say t. it will literally devastate haiti the same deal in cuba and eventually impact like that will be felt in the bahamas as the storm continues to move north and eventually northwest. atlantic coast lookse it now in will be stronger. so that's why the models have been bending a little bit back

the storm just off our coast. and this is a completely different situation than a hurricane moving across the gulf and we're on the bad side as was the case with hermine which by the way was a cat one. we're on the dirty side. this storm should stay east of us. if that happens it won't be that bad locally. it's all about keeping the core of the hurricane off the east coast. right around the eye. the hurran about 40 miles way from the center so. that center, that eye stays off our east coast, it will not be that bad. if the eye in the center makes landfall in our state, we're dealing with all kinds of serious issues. here's the projected track. new advisory comes in at 11:00 tonight. see the bend back to the northwest, that's because of the big high developing off the mid atlantic coast. these highs act like a tearing mechanism.
