her owner in polk county shot a rabid raccoon as it was attacking. i'm drying. >> anchor: a slithery surprise on the hood of the car. we will hear how this driver reacted. >> announcer: you are watching facts 13 and 11:00 pm new starts now. >> anchor: we start with this dog who is lucky to be alive. the owner and polk county attacking. he talked to the man who has a warning. >> reporter: this is the third time in 2016 deputies have found rabies and polk county. the owner of a dog says his dog may be dead if she had not immediately gotten a booster shot. martin ratliff neighborhood has many more animals than it does people. >> man: the bear was sitting where you're standing. >> reporter: and martin likes it that way. so does his dog dixie. but wednesday dixie barked up the wrong tree.

is not sure yet if they will all reopen. that will depend on the extent of the damage inside the store. we will let you know. >> anchor: the man deputies think hit a 74-year-old woman in polk county and kept going is in jail. once more, he tried to cover up what he did. deputies have charged 37-year-old jarvis kendrick when the death of janice joy. it happened on september 2 when sh days later kendrick tried to stage an accident to cover up involvement. loved ones say they are relieved. >> man: you can run, you can hide, as long as you can try, but sooner or later they will get you. >> man: for the rest of his life he will think about the fact that he left that lady to die on the side of the road while he fled to try to create a scheme to get away with it. while he did not.
