and the momentum, what trump calls the spirit, this appears on the edge of holding the day. >> do you have a sense for what the plan is for the candidates on the rest of the night it's been possibilities? >> there was some talk that he was headed over the three and a half blocks of his to the hilton hotel on sixth avenue. that has not happened. he has not come here yet. it is clear that they trump and his staff have tweeted out pictures of he and the family watching the returns tonight. not a lot of tweaking from the trump folks, they are letting the voters to that the talking tonight. what they are hearing, they are loving. >> i am confident that they do. i would imagine that if he is able to get michigan or pennsylvania or a combination of arizona, minnesota, something that would change things, he would make himself available.
1:07 am
hillary clinton has received a few more electoral votes on the counter there. it is now 254 for donald trump, and 218 for the hillary clinton. that means that one of the states i was close, the state of maine. fox news now projects, fox news announced projects that the state of maine has gone to hillary clinton. she has won the state of maine, three of the four electoral votes from maine will go go o hillary clinton. fourth of the electoral votes in the state of maine is too close to call. this has always been a confusing thing for people across the nation in most states. it's winner takes all and the electoral college. cannot in maine. in maine they split them up. >> that's right, the only two states that do this. it is entirely possible that trump in a state that has been deep for a long, long time will get that one additional electrode.
1:08 am
that means that michigan puts him over the top plus one, and again, the map gets increasingly simple. the trump campaign strategy was to win all of the from the states. and they were voted republican in 2012 comment that includes arizona, alaska. and that is basically it. the rest are ones that he will be flipping if he wins then. including michigan, pennsylvania, minnesota. his trip to minnesota and a lot of republicans thought that he was making a mistake by not emphasizing more on florida and ohio, north carolina, pennsylvania. well, he is actually having a slight lead in pennsylvania. and he has pulled off the other victories. and now on the upper industrial midwest, in the case of minnesota, it hasn't gone republican and 44 years. in the case of michigan, it hasn't gone republicans since
1:09 am
they talk about those democrats, it's time to stop talking about trump democrats. because he had to have gotten a lot of independence, undecided, and some democrats. >> he strongly did. and live at the donald trump headquarters, we go back there with any news that might warrant. if you mention arizona, certainly a state that has been leaning red, arizona is leaving red with its 11 electoral votes. the donald trump with a lead there. now reporting in minutes -- minnesota. and hillary clinton with 45.7% of the votes, it is still too close to call. let's go live now to phoenix with our correspondent in the valley of the founder, the shadow of the moon tonight. what is the mood there? >> all right, i have to give you a look, we're here at the renaissance -- renaissance
1:10 am
and the formal program has ende ended. they will get a drink. watch the return. and that tells you quite a bit about the mood here. sitting on the ground, watching the return. hopeful, possibly, possibly, and they may be waiting a while. that's because we are in the county. it is the largest county in the state of arizona. 6 out of every ten residents who live in the state are in this county. it is the ste the national election, and tonight, the county reporter's office confirmed to me that they may not be able to count all of the ballots tonight. like maybe 350,000 ballots may not get counted tonight. i was told by the reporter's office that it is to close a race no matter what race it is, they may not be able to count it tonight, because they won't have enough time to do that.
1:11 am
were dropped off just today. and they were already doing the counting with the early voting ballots. and maybe not even until the morning. we are still waiting to see. it depends on the outer lying areas and the returns that they have there. we have to continue to watch in the county. it's also about to the county. in particular, it has dramatically increased the number of latino voters in the state. tonight there was someone who has been quite a legend here politically and arizona. they went down in defeat. the sheriff 24 career came to an end when he was defeated by a democrat. former police sergeant defeated the man tonight. that was something to take notice of here. it's been a very interesting year the way they have increased
1:12 am
people and latinos. senator john mccain, he is taking his sixth term, he won tonight. and it is razor thin between donald trump and hillary clinton. we will wait and see. >> we will indeed. we will be back for that fascinating run that many of the ballots that may not be counted tonight. they will get them counted eventually, obviously. but thank you very much. 65% of -- now in. hillary clinton is trailing by some 60,000 votes. a couple of other things that she mention of importance, the county sheriff, a lot of money came in from the other side of the aisle. not just politically but around the country. they made it a mission to cut the extreme measures they are in arizona in the county.
1:13 am
country. the money came in, they defeated him tonight. the sheriff goes down. marijuana has been a valid initiative that we have been following closely. the state of california, many of the californians now, it has gone legalized, recreational marijuana use. we got word that the state of nevada has legalized recreational you can go to the tables, catch a buzz before you get there, legally smoke weed, then you can go to the outlying counties and have a prostitute. the better is becoming quite a place, the school system will have more money because of the legalization. you have it in colorado, california, now have it in the state of nevada. they are moving from west to east.
1:14 am
as is trump-mania here in the night. they said that the minister expects administration to maintain a policy of north korea. fascinating now that from the korean: so now. at the south koreans have set out officially. and from the defense administer a reminder to the next administration whomever that south korea will still want the united states to put pressure on north korea. and the tens and thousands of united states troops on the board. the donald trump with the intervention than others, they say that the military needs to be built up because it has been depleted over the years according to donald trump. we must have a strong military, must not be intervention -- interventionist.
1:15 am
is being questioned. the house speaker paul ryan has spoken by phone i am now told with both donald trump and mike pence. they spoke with both trump and mike pence, having a good conversation on congratulating trump with what happened so far. that is from the news agency, i learned that came from the national broadcasting company. i just read it. that should be attributed that is reporting that the house speaker paul ryan has spoken with mike pence and trump. i wonder how many times that is going to happen in the years to come? pens and trump, and said that they had very good conversation conversations. that is the tempest in the teapot right there. and there is work to do to repair relations there.
1:16 am
endorsements come from men and women, they do not come from campaign spokesman, and paul ryan said he never endorsed him.. heve never did. >> he tried to thread the needle after the access hollywood. he said he was second. and it was indefensible. he would go on and -- >>yl and alert now. and we elected to the senate, the hold for the democrats if i am not mistaken. hold for republicans. theyey a hold of the united states senate. >> that's a big, deal. tothat's a big, deal. lose it. and that's actually an indication that trump is doing very well. pennsylvania, we can see on the numbers that he is going to win market. paul ryan, he definitely tried to not endorse, nonbe seen with, not to offend while voting for
1:17 am
few of the members of the party tried in the difficult cycle for them. and we can see you where people like john mccain survived it. and they got reelected, but there will be something else that he is president. it will not all be forgotten temporarily. >> the fox news decision desk is not yet there. the associated press is now reporting as the republicans maintain control of the united states senate. of the united states senate. press, numbers it is a lock. the house of representatives says that theai fox news decisin desk remains an republican control. the senate will remain in republican control. it will be a very, very tight no doubt. and now we wait for the president of the united states, michigan would do it. it is too close to call.
1:18 am
1:20 am
z25ehz z16fz y25ehy y16fy >> we are watching the battle for the balance of power in the united states congress. i can tell you associated press is reporting that, the republicans will retain control of the united states senate. republicans do that after notice had just been given, that one more state had gone.
1:21 am
according to reporting of the associated press. republicans retain the house. large number. and republicans retain the senate. though a smaller margin. but this idea that -- down ballot, the u.s. senate might go over to the democrat was clearly wrong. james arcen, a congressional reporter, covers capitol hill. live on capitol hill. he has been watching these races. the smart people clearly were wrong again. >> yeah, you know i talked with a lot of democrats, before today. and, most expected that, all of these competitive senate races were going to break in one direction. a lot of people in both parties thought they were going to barack for democrats. they thought hillary clinton would win and some of the states would pull them across. turns out the complete opposite. donald trump really overperformed expectations. that helped republicans seal the deal in almost every single competitive race. able to hang on in nevada.
1:22 am
race, with the exception of new hampshire went the republican way. >> how do you explain that? >> donald trump performed outperformed expectations by a significant margin. turns out the question that should have been asked before the election was not can republicans outrun donald trump, but could democrats outrun hillary clinton or would she be a drag, and it turned out her problems in some of the states dragged down democratic candidates down the ballot. >> something for which nobody was preparing, not as if we have to watch because we fear african-american turnout is going to be lower than projections. we believe this because barack obama was the first african-american president, he won on the heels, on the backs of african-american whose came out in historic numbers. they can have good african-american numbers, get to barack obama numbers, very difficult. before we have to watch for this and plan for it. they did not. >> they did not watch and plan
1:23 am
to it. also, they weren't prepared for the numbers that donald trump was going to get. there was just a mix on how much support donald trump was going to get in the states. we knew from the beginning the presidential battleground were going to be battleground in the senate. looking at wisconsin, pennsylvania. new hampshire. these are states that were expected to be battleground. democrats were hoping hillary clinton could run up margins. as we seem them close, the support that donald trump got was unexpected coming into today. control of the senate. something republicans didn't think was going to happen until this morning. >> leadership in the senate. how do you see it potentially? >> i think leadership in the senate will stick with mitch mcconnell. he adopted a strategy, in terms of the supreme court, in terms of, you know some of the blocking that they did of president obama's agenda. and i think that a lot of the strategy that he has planned
1:24 am
with republican senators. >> in leadership who will be the movers-and-shakers in the republican senate. >> one person to keep an eye on, chuck schumer, democratic leader. a lot of people thought he was going to be the majority leader going into the next congress. now likely, not likely. now going to be the minority leader. and the question is going to be what kind of relationship is he going to have with mitch mcconnell, democrats going to try to block everything that they can. or are we going to see a real strong use of the filibuster. making chuck schumer trying to work out agreements with mitch mcconnell and maybe try to ge p. chuck schumer the person to watch. >> how much fun is capitol hill going to be now? >> it is going to be interesting, for sure. >> certainly, one to cover, fun to cover i would guess. great of you to come by. appreciate it. >> our panel is back with us.
1:25 am
the white house correspondent there. the more you think about it, it is one more piece of the puzzle. to put together. the leadership in the house and the senate. and how they will be able to work with her, what is potentially now for sure, potentially. a donald trump presidency. >> if some one like mitch mcconnell can stay on, stay on as the leader. it is probably -- stands to reason. that not as much of a revolt on that side. and the other leadership will stay in the jobs. it's over on the house side where i think it is more volatile. and, you see members of the caucus wanting more representation, leadership. and even if they don't lose a bunch of seats. i think they will -- definitely criticize paul ryan. publicly and privately for not sticking up for donald trump. now that he is a big winner. >> we are waiting for very big states. michigan would put donald trump over the top.
1:26 am

violet, and many others are enjoying their first bowl today. 10:00 on the west coast. 1:00 east coast. the presidency of the united states not yet decided the we are waiting for a number of states. we'll show you where we stand right now. getting in michigan -- this is michigan. with 82% of precincted reporting. donald trump with a lead of less
1:29 am
leans democratic did going into this election. widely believed that hillary clinton had michigan. michigan right this minute is too close to call. in the state of pennsylvania -- with its 20 electoral votes up for grabs. pennsylvania by itself, by itself, would give the presidency to donald trump. and donald trump does lead but only by one percentage point with 97% of all precincts call. moving on, arizona. arizona with 11 electoral votes, donald trump with a lead in arizona. you can see, only 2/3 of precincts. a lead of just three plus points. 4 percentage points. a long way in arizona. correspondent in phoenix says couple hundred thousand ballots
1:30 am
don't know if they will get those counted overnight. if that is the case they have to wait until tomorrow, arizona could be a state that we don't know anything about until midday on the east coast tomorrow. a possibility. even a probability. there you see, another tick tup in the arizona numbers. a small one. still 66%. we may not know arizona until tomorrow. will that make a difference in the presidency? it could. in the state of new hampshire. four electoral on the fox news channel. donald trump went to new hampshire in the late going in this campaign. and so many people asked, why are you spending time in new hampshire? four electoral votes. well, new hampshire is separated by five percentage, .5 point. 87% of all precincts reporting. new hampshire too close to call. in minnesota, a state that leans democratic, has been leaning democratic throughout this.
