from tampa bay's number one news station, this is "good day tampa bay." it happened again. another tow truck driver is hit and killed on a local highway. what we know so far about this investigation. >> thine day nine days of mourning are under way. good sunday morning, everyone. welcome to "good day tampa bay." the time is 8:00 a.m. let's a check on the frarz. jim is in for lindsay. >> jim: good morning, alcides. the cold front has pushed to the south and cleared out the skies. a nice, cool, beautiful start to the day. in clearwater beach, 60 degrees and winds out of the northeast at 11 miles per hour. satellite view over the state, we start out with a few scattered clouds through the overnight hours and they move on to the east as that drier air, the ridge of high pressure

we have nice weather the next couple of days with that lower humidity as well. started out with the 40s across brooksville up into crystal river. the temperatures warm up quickly. brooksville is at 67 degrees and here in tampa 60 and down to the south in sar society da and lakeland has a 55. what a change over the past 24 hours with the drier air moving in. most of these temperatures runned 7, 8, in some cases 9 hours. a pretty significant cold front as far as drying things out. we have the drier air and warm it up quickly through the afternoon. still feels very comfortable with these daytime highs topping out in the upper 70s. have a cold front heading our way, and looks like that could bring rain later in the week. i talk about that in a little bit, ail side. >> thank you.

i-275. kellie cowan is liar at 275 and fowler avenue. what do we know? >> kellie: the details are scant from florida highway patrol, but they confirmed that a tow truck driver was killed in an accident overnight that occurred just off of fowler ear near the accident on 275. dh has beens just after this morning. several lanes were shut down overnight. everything has sin re-opened this morning. this fatal crash comes about a month after another crash that killed a different tow truck driver on i-75. that crash involved a driver who was allegedly drunk behind the wheel when he slammed into tow truck driver troy mcguire back in october. he was on the side of the road assisting law enforcement at the time, and this is just another

the crosswalk. they're looking for a person in a dark-colored sedan. hillsborough avenue is shut down from himes to dell mabrey. it will be closed until the investigation is complete. if you have any information, contact tampa police. if you head out this sunday morning in clearwater, avoid parts of gulf boulevard. here's why. there's a sewage spill on the 1300 block of gulf boulevard in san key. over 100,000 gallons spilled after a main break for 12 hours going into two storm drains and going into the intercostal waterway. parts of gulf boulevard will remain closed for the next couple of days as they make repairs. nine days of mourning have begun in cuba. former dictator fidel castro died friday. alcohol sales are suspended and

we're still following a developing story out of tampa. a tow truck dri a tow truck driver was killed on a busy bay area highway overnight on i-275. kellie cowan is live along i-275. fhp is releasing new information. what do you have? >> kellie: we find out new details about the crashing right now. we knew this crash occurred just after 1 left a tow truck driver dead. now we know the name of that tow truck driver as well as the driver of the car who hit him. fhp at this point tells us they believe the driver that ran into the tow truck was drunk at the time. here's the latest from what they've just released to us. now, they say that leandro perez was driving along 275 just south of fowler avenue this morning

from crockett's towing. that tow truck driver's hand is danny hand. he was parked with his caution lights activated on the outside shoulder standing to assist a disabled vehicle. on impact unfortunately he was killed at the scene, and they believe that as i mentioned perez was under the influence of alcohol. fhp says he was shortly after the accident arrested for manslaughter, and he's facing charges at this time and in jail at this time as well. so those are the latest details that we've learned so far. a tow truck driver killed early this morning on 275. he was doing everything properly, had his lights flashing according to florida highway patrol when that other vehicle slammed into him. that's another reminder of the move-over law and why it's so important to stay off the
