with simpson slumped in the back, there was a gun, people coming outn the street, the nfl hall of famer later turned himself in on june 20th, 8 days after the murders, and pleaded not guilty there. was the trial 134 day televised trial. jurors took just four hours to come up with that. in order to pay the the victim families more than $33 million. >> women, over $40 million are judgements, we've collected less than 1 percent, but still actively pursuing it, will do as long as we need tonight simpson did eventually go to prison, not for the murder, serving 33 year sentence forearmed robbery at a vaguest hotel room in 2007. so we will talk a lot more about this one. many pact of this case, of the trial what we saw, whole legal panel, that's coming up 7:30, not too long guys about 25 minutes. >> 70:00, a well, man in custody following stabbing

fired a fatal shot at a male suspect in that las vegas shooting, you got to watch this closely here. you see the woman point a gun at her husband basically, and it looks as if she shoots him in the head. because the gun recoils. after they looked at footage more closely, they realize a police bullet killed the guy laying on his symptom there. he was shot in the throat. stag nerd there, laid down, and so they believe the woman right in the guys face never hit him. then put the gun to her head and shot her sever to death. so that's how it all went down. >> and, we are learning much more about this morning about that deadly shooting, in oregon, i can't believe all of the shootings we have to report. >> unbelievable. well, here are more details on that one, authorities have identified the gunman, 15 years old, jared michael pageant. they say he brought assault asst rifle, hand gun, nine loaded magazines capable every holding several hundred rounds of ammunition to his high school.

a 14 year old, emilio, hoffman killed in the shooting, the gunman's motive is still a mystery. >> also this morning, a mother and her boyfriends are under arrest after police say her six year old daughter took heroin pack totes school earlier this week. marie hunter and christopher troy jenkins-white are charged with endangering the welfare after child after a search at their home. the police are still not sure where the girl got the drugs from. >> well, people in winslow township, new jersey are on the look-out after not one but two bear sitings there. so, it is the same bear supposedly here is a picture of one of the sitings, the picture was taken along wharton avenue, the second siting was in waterford works section. authorities say, to give them a call if you see the bear, and don't approach it, i know the instant gram picture is telling. >> they think it is the same bear. >> they think it is the same bear, two different siting. >> call us, tweet us if you see the bear.

attorney heather sean son, from chasing new jersey, reason yes wanted to have you all come in, i'm fortunate enough to work with young, energetic people here. you know, i just wasn't old enough to come re hadn't what was going on 20 years ago, how do you explain it, ken, we start with you. >> i would say two things, what was the o.j. trial about? i would say two things, about race, and it is about celebrity. race, because of the make up of the jury. we can talk a little bit about that, but also celebrity. i would say in this country celebrities put on the pedestal. o.j. simpson, heisman trophy winner, football player for the buffalo bills, actor, popular, well like n this country it is very difficult to convict a pop already celebrity. lots of examples. robert blake, michael jackson, so i would talk about the fact about this trial being about celebrity and about being about race. >> heather really is, bridges up good point, celebrity trials started with the o.j. simpson trial, because we had cameras in the courtroom.

>> since then you have seen tons of these pipes of trials with kacie anthony, george zimmerman, all of those cases, the other thing that's change add lot people who are young we can't imagine we didn't have twitter, we didn't have facebook. so everyone because sort of coming together and talking about this over cough oh, over the water coolers, and really coming together across the world. not just in america. to watch this trial, over the eight or so months it was on tv. >> look at all of the familiar faces, we watched this trial for 134 straight days, bill anderson, and guy by the name of mark fuhrman, police officer showed up at the scene in brentwood. there he is. the moment the jury heard, and the country heard, that there was possibility, there was an indication of maybe in his past he had planted evidence, case was over. >> well, and i think that that speaks to what ken said about race. i think it was about race for other reasons. you had o.j. simpson, popular african-american, who a lot of people thought transcended race, who was involved in a inter-racial relationship at a time that it really was not nearly that well exposed, or that popular. >> right.

>> and you had a community that was pushing back against a system. so, mark fuhrman became indicative of what many african-americans thought of the system. much more so than we were -- >> a loft african-americans were rooting for a win in any legal case, bill. >> yes, and rooting for, again, it was about opposition to racist cops, about opposition to a legal system that many of us didn't feel was necessarily fairly representing us. we rallied around that and cheered for that. i think you have lot more to do with that and the legal system than o.j. simpson. >> couldn't believe that evidence could be planted at the scene, even though the evidence was so overwhelming. came back -- ken, back to you, i don't know if the term slam-dunk started with the case, but because of all of the bloody socks, cuts on his hands, took off for chicago, why wasn't it a slam-dunk? >> well, that word slam-dunk

came from gill garsetti, da at the time, he was caught on tape. they interviewed him, slam-dunk. he said it was a slam-dunk because of all of the dna evidence, all of the blood evidence that is, and he figured because of the blood evidence it was absolutely going to be a conviction. here was the problem, mike, you just said it before. because of fuhrman, and they called him arrays is, basically, depict him as arrays is, the jury make up was crucial in this case. here is the jury make up in the trial. nine after call americans, two whites, one hispanic. what happened he? was acquitted. now fast forward, now civil trial. here is the jury make up: eight whites, two african-americans, and one hispanic. what happens? he's convicted in a civil trial, not convicted but verdicts held against him for $33.5 million. it was held that he actually did the killings of ron goldman and brown. so, it shows you that the jury make up makes a big, big difference in trials like there is on the one hand, when it was african-american, they thought a certain way. when it was white jury they saw it a certain way. you had two different results.

>> if the gloves don't fit you must quit. >> in the case of this criminal case against oj, 150 witnesses. they all contradicted each other. all that jury needed was a reasonable doubt, to go back to bill's point, they wanted to finds a reasonable doubt. civil case, different standard. i think that's part of the reason, as well. >> also speaks to how differently, i think still we see things in this country shortly before the oj sim i am son case, the rodney king says, since they have trayvon martin, a lot of people who can look at the exact same evidence, and because of our personal experiences, see it differently. i think oj sump was the first time we awe saw that play out on tv. >> back to the evidence. robert kardashian again came up last couple every days, did he have a garment bag with o.j.'s bloody clothes in it, ken? >> did he have a garment bag. he was caught on tape the day after murder caught on tape caring that garment bag out of o.j. simpson's residence, nobody knows what's in it, but

i realize that my son had time out from the doctor, my son had intellectual disability, mal for makes of the brain, and he wasn't able to participate in sports, regular sports, so in new mexico, my chief had a daughter, and he got me involved in special old i am, got my son involved in track, and field at the time. and since then, my son has gone from track and field, to swimming, basketball, you name it, he tries do it so it has been an awesome experience, your son competing in special olympics? >> he is competing, princeton, swimming, the 50 free and the ooh back, and 25 medal relays, freestyle relays, excite the. >> another thing, you said your son wasn't expects today live past the age every 16? >> our doctors told us after they found out what was wrong with him, his malformation, they said you can expect his
