7:00 am
get out of the water. >> get out of the water. bystanders try to warn swimmers on after the approaching great white shark, it had just attacked one man, which was still swimming around. we now know why the shark was looking for a big bite. plus... >> higher pay or better co-workers. which would you choose? would you take a pay cut to work with nicer people. the result of a new study, that will get you talking, quincy, what is up. >> okay. people have been drinking, eating bad all weekend long. of course, for a two week shred. as you can see we are shredding. back to you. >> they are shredding at 7:00, is what your excuse. we're working. we would be out there doing it too. >> absolutely. >> everybody is back. >> hi, sue.
7:01 am
good to see you, kacie. how is everything. >> how was your birthday. >> are you engaged. >> no. >> i always check every monday. >> sue, you are still married. >> yes. >> only had two fights with my husband on vacation. >> that is what you do on vacation. >> all right. >> yes. >> big traffic coming up, but first a quick check of the weather. >> we have a number, of course that we select every day. as soon as i get my clicker i will inform you as to what that number is. >> yes it is an eight. >> it is an eight. >> trying to build up suspense there. out of the ten we have pick an eight for today. it is not a ten because humidity is coming back. we will get back in the 90's. bus stop buddy has his pal muggy by his side today. when you see muggy the dog you know it will be sticky outside. yes, indeed. nice day to go to the pool, nice day to go to the beach. main extent that holiday weekend and bet so it is 75 degrees is our current
7:02 am
temperature. 10 miles an hour wind out of the south, southwest and end of the day we are up to 92 degrees. could be the beginning of the another heat wave if we get three in a row, it will be, 74 degrees, and mug i, again tonight. so, back to reality, in a big way with traffic, right, kacie, lots of accidents this morning a lot of accidents, sue, a lot of them involving tractor trail ertz. we will start in bear, delaware westbound side of route 40, sky fox headed to the scene right now right at school bell road. overturned tractor trailer at this scene, alternate apple bee road, take that to 273 west and then take that to the southbound side of route seven. heading out on the northeast extension, thinks the problem that we have been following all morning long, thinks another tractor trailer accident, northbound side, approaching lansdale, northbound side of 309 is a great alternate for that scene. taking a look at majors though, everything else looks fine. lots of great travel times out there, lots of green on the maps, good news coming home from the shore, headed back to work today, guys.
7:03 am
all right. a 13 year-old girles is asleep inner led bed gets a violent wake up call in the middle of the night after being shot and hit by a bullet. >> sleeping in your bed, steve keeley and you get the shot. it is incredible. >> in winslow township. >> reporter: yeah, i'll tell you this we have talked to a dozen neighbors what they find incredible is they were all asleep in they are bed a lot of people in all of these houses. it could have been worse. a lot of bullets were fired. police were unsure of the exact number. neighbors say maybe up to ten. you can see neighbors to the right of us all out of hear house now down there all coming out wondering what was that. and everybody we have talk to out there knew it was not left over fourth of july fire works. two houses were hit this corner house and this shooting happened at pierson on hey wood drive. bullets hit this corner house there was a woman there who thought she was shot because she got hit by debris with the bullets coming through her bedroom wall. then bullets went all the way
7:04 am
across the street here and they still have the other house that was hit where the little girl was asleep with several other kids in the house in the same bedroom asleep. so it could have been so much worse, only one girl was hit and hit in the best possible spot because she was hit in the behind, never lost consciousness, she's stable and will be okay. she's at cooper hospital. we knew right away she would be okay because they called off medivac'd helicopter when we first heard about this and decided to drive her to cooper because she was not in a life threatening situation. neighbors still cannot believe what happened here overnight. >> well, the the fourth of july has passed and it was just a different sound. it didn't sound like a fire works, pop, pop, it was like pop, pop, pop, so you are saying there is something different about that. going to the window, i knew, 26, there was a death. i could have have been my house. i'm hoping it stopped. people need to just stop, guns, just don't kill, people kill, and we need to stop. >> it could have been my
7:05 am
child, my grand kids, just awful. >> reporter: here we are, 40 minutes or so halfway down the atlantic city expressway. not in the city where we have seen this kind of thing happening before. but out here in the suburbs. this woman in the blue pointing out to police where the bullet that came through her bedroom and debris that hit her came from in that direction. her house you can see there is a real real real estate sign tht says it is available. hopefully this will be the last time this happens. that is what neighbors are all thinking. we have all lived here 20 something years. never even heard a loud argument, before gunfire and police still have no idea who was shooting or why or at who, or if not just shooting at random. so, sue, mike, you may remember it is only july 7th. already it has been a busy dangerous summer season here in winslow township where we have been getting to know the good police officers here throughout all of the rough reasons just since memorial day weekend. we started here in the eight owe's killed on route 73.
7:06 am
that was the friday to start the the memorial day weekend. you will rhawn hill brother killed here just ten days after that. we're back here for black bear. and now we are here with the little girl, shot as she left inside of her bedroom. you have to wonder if she will have trouble getting back to sleep and having nightmares next time she's back home and out of the hospital after this you cannot blame her for not wanting to go to bed, but a real man out here, shooting one place you think you are safe is in your own bed. >> nightmares for a long time, all right. 7:06, steve. first trial in the boston marathon bombs gets underway in a couple hours. the opening arguments are set to begin against one of the college friends of the suspect bomber, dzhokhar tsarnaev. he is accused of obstruction for allegedly helping the guy, after the blast. authorities say, that two friends through, tsarnaev's backpack and lap top into the trash, trying to hide it, after an exchange of text messages in the attack

7:08 am
now four children were killed around 3:00 in the morning on saturday when a fire ripped through about eight row homes. >> jenny joyce is live at the scene of the fire this morning. neighborhoods really coming together, jenny? >> reporter: it is amaze to go see, sue. they have come together. taking a look, the 6500 block of gesner street remains blocked off. today, several homes charred. at least ten homes, destroyed. several hearts are broken after four child. marie and mariallah boawah, along with patrick san yes had and his one month-old brother tai jacque. people living on the block reported hearing, screams as victims did their best to escape the mother of the twin girls said that she was at home with seven children at the time of the fire. she was able to get her other three daughters out before she herself had to jump from a second floor window. she could not get to her twin.
7:09 am
mayor michael nutter commented as others in the economy asked to step up and ask for donation. >> we have lost four precious lives, four little innocent, children. >> they were good kids. unaudible. >> like everyone in philadelphia we heard about the tragedy and was just so sad for everybody. it is hard. we feel for the kids who died, the families that lost everything. >> the entire city mourns this incredible tragedy and what has happened here. >> reporter: yesterday, christ international baptist church started collecting supplies for nine families displaced by this massive fire. water, food and clothing came pouring in. the church is accepting, these donations until noon time today. city officials tell us it was
7:10 am
last august when they came here and they installed smoke detectors, at the home where the fire originated as well as several other homes on the block. the cause of this fire is the not yet known, fire investigators are looking into whether it was fire creators that would be responsible for this. >> firecrackers were going off and they had a couch on one of the purchases. >> one spark is all it takes. >> um-hmm. >> reporter: that is right, that is what we're hearing that it was a couch on the porch. that is what witnesses are saying is where the fire originated. i just got off the phone with one of the victims. she said she was away at the time. she said she talk to the neighbor whose home it was where the fire started. he was asleep. he is not sure how his couch caught fire. >> well, something made it spark. 7:10. how about this, a fault i air conditioning is to blame for a high rise fire in, an apartment building in new york city over the weekend. it killed a fire fighter. fire commissioner in new york says that it had been ruled
7:11 am
accidental, and a fire lieutenant, got trapped in the building while looking for victims. officials say he was overcome by smoke. he suffered several multiple injuries when he collapsed. he leaves behind a wife and two children. the family of the woman beaten by a california high waste patrol officer, wants that officer, held accountable. >> marilyn opinion behindknock is still in the hospital with injuries over her entire body after this incident that you're watching, it happened last on week. the the scene was caught on camera by a bystander. it happened in los angeles on the the freeway. it happened on tuesday. woman in the video was report liz stopped for walking on the side of the highway when the officer stopped her. she reportedly started struggling with him, his daughter for the back tears as she talked about the beating that her mother endured. >> i love my mom. she was brutally beaten. he punched and pounded on her. the only thing that she could
7:12 am
do was block her face. >> family says that the california highway patrol did not let them see her until wednesday. department says is it is not commenting until a full investigation is completed. the officer right now is on administrative leave. let's get over to africa now, 68 women and girls, have escaped the nigeria militant group boca horam. they were abduct last month, reports say, that that they escaped when militants went to attack a military base on friday. two hub, almost 230 school girls, were snatched in april, and they remain in their possession of the militant group. the group triggered ab international outcry when the girls were captured. they remained and they demanded actually the the release of some of its terrorist fighters, in exchange for the young women but the government of nigeria, so far, has rejected that idea. and an american teenager accused of clashing with
7:13 am
israeli sentences to nine days of house arrest over there warning you the video is pretty darn graphic here. >> here we go the 15 year-old who witnesses say is the victim, seen being beaten by israeli police officers, in this video, is amateur video. well, he was attending a demonstration following his teenage cousin's death the when the incident took place. the boy is from florida, and he was visiting his family's home land, the family insist he did nothing wrong and that he is. >> he does not deserve to be on house arrest for nine days, without bail, on what charges. he hasn't been charged. there is in charge on him. why are you putting him on house arrest? it makes no sense. i'm an american. i know american law this doesn't happen in america. >> well, no, this is israel and the officials say that they are not going to comment,
7:14 am
at the incident that is being under investigation. >> there are indications that he may have been throwing rocks at the police. 7:14. >> people traveling to the u.s. to foreign airports may soon have very long lines to deal w that is because u.s. officials now want all cell phones, all lap tops, and other electronic devices, check. the transportation security administration, believes that terrorist, may use such devices to hide a bomb. travelers will to have turn on their cell phones to have prove that they are charred. if it won't turn on, the traveling won't be allowed and may have to go through extra screening before you are allowed to board the plane. a newspaper is under fire for new york in using the n word in a head line about president owe bam. shocking head line is found above an opinion piece, in the west view news. it is a paper from, manhattan's, westville age. and it is a pro obama piece but that is not stopping many people from blasting the use of the word, causing calling
7:15 am
it disrespectful and distasteful. paper says they were trying to get some publicity and a big head line. it sure did that. >> it is a known liberal newspaper. 7:15. things have gone from bad to worse. they are 14 games under 500 after being swept, did you hear me, swept by the pirates over the weekend, in pittsburgh. the pirates finished the streak with a six-two win. phillies have won only one of their last ten games: they have lost 13 out of 16 games. >> i think they are 14 games out of first place now or 14 games below 500. >> they have been 12 out of first place. >> it is pennsylvania specific. it is bad. there is always the wild card. they are 11 games back. fill difficulties have some good news yesterday. chase utley will play in minnesota july the tenth. chase utley will start at
7:16 am
second base. and, maybe the 15th july 15th. chase was voted in by the fans. you can watch the all-star game, live from minnesota right here on fox, that would be next tuesday night, a week from tomorrow night. >> yes. >> okay. major league sock are games are still going on, despite all of the focus on the world cup with you still here at home, things are happening. players out in kansas city missouri has figure out how to steel some of the attention for himself. thinks a selfie he took after scoring a gola chicago. he handed him a phone. he grabbed some fans to huddle around him and his teammates. he then took a selfie. he was actually thrown a yellow card for excessive celebration. >> i didn't think there was anything called excessive celebration, in soccer. >> in soccer. >> certainly maybe here in the united states, in football. but at the fifa world cup, you can celebrate, you can build a
7:17 am
buffet and eat it and build cards after they score. >> those people are crazy. >> 7:16. hopefully you enjoyed the lack of humidity over the weekend. it was really nice on saturday. it was pretty nice yesterday for our celebrations, around the city for the welcome america, weekend, the last weekend of the celebration, and then earlier, we had our first heat wave of the season. that that is territory we will be entering this week. we have 93 degrees, for july 1st, the second, the third, we were all in the 90's, and they are coming back. so right now we have southeasterly winds as we were moving off shore. that will keep us humid. but it will be worst by the owned of the day. it will, eventually relieve the humidity but then come
7:18 am
through and stick around for wednesday, maybe even part of thursday, we do not have to worry about this disturbance off the carolina coast becoming anything tropical. folks down there right now are not having a problem, at all, so we had our arthur last week, that is it for that. and birtha the the next name on the list. so high pressure will keep us dry today, and tonight, and it is tomorrow afternoon that we will see some showers, north and west of the city, and then moving through on and off throughout the rest of the day with that cold front we just talk about, wednesday, as the front kind of stalls in our area. there is some more showers and thunderstorms popping up, anytime after 12:00 noon. and lasting on and off throughout the the rest of the night into thursday morning. so that is our mid week rain, and we should clear out for the weekend. 75 degrees right now in philadelphia 73 lancaster. seventy-two in dover. 68 degrees up in mount pocono. it is comfortable up there but with the the dew point of 59. once we get above 60 with those dew points, it starts to get on the sticky side.
7:19 am
so by the end of the day to day we will be hovering between uncomfortable and oppressive with dew points in the upper 60's to around 70 degrees, the humidity is back again. and then again, with the wind, you can see them moving out of the southwest, that is the reason why your seven day forecast has 92 today. ninety-four tomorrow. wednesday is our iffy day. we may reach 90 and then second heat wave of the year but by thursday and friday it is starting to get more comfortable again, friday, sat the day look like they will be our best weather days of the week with that low humidity, especially on friday, and then sunday, we're seeing some thunderstorms late in the day, and we will see what we can do about that between now and then, miss kacie. >> all right, thanks, sue. lets check on those tractor trailer accidents that have been with us all morning long. starting in the westbound side of the route 40, at school bell road, overturned tractor trailer blocking the westbound side. apple bee road take that to the westbound side of 273 and then take that southbound on to route seven, that is your alternate. little lengthy but get around
7:20 am
that this morning. northbound side of the north he ease extension still shut down approaching lansdale, we have got a tractor trailer accident there, involving another passenger vehicle. north bound side of 309 is your alternate, for that one. seventy-six westbound is slow about 15 extra minutes there, and 95 not looking too bad northbound on four 2a little bit slow, we will take a look at the majors, but the westbound, side of the -- excuse me, heading home from the shore things do look all right, just slow on 42. >> now, the rule is when walking around philadelphia, i guess almost every major city if you see somebody step in the crosswalk where there are no lights you are supposed to stop, right. >> yes. >> up in massachusetts, drivers are being warned you really better yield to pedestrians or face a violation, undercover videographer is letting folks in on what he is calling, a police trap but it is the law. >> if you don't stop, they will catch you.
7:21 am
>> the other guy yells at me for filming it. he said what are you doing? >> well, man behind the lens says the same person, you see him there, walked back and forth, all day long, and a driver's failed to stop they will get pulled over by police who are waiting down the road. so apparentry they have had people blasting through, the road just like that. >> no wonder. >> they are not stopping for him. >> if a person is in the crosswalk you are supposed to stop but one guy says it is entrapment. one mom thought it was, you, facebook called it obscene. do you think that is famous copper tone, you know, baby ad toys blame here? is it too graphic. >> the the one where he has his little tooth sis. >> yes. >> yes. >> how it got one mom kicked off of facebook. really just a baby butt. but first bystanders try to warn swimmers about dangers in the water, and, thinks 40th anniversary of jaws.
7:22 am
>> incredible. >> that great white shark that had shark attacks. we now know why the shark was so angry.
7:23 am
7:24 am
7:25 am
thinks bear delaware where we have a overturn tractor trailer on the right-hand side of your screen. first shot we are getting. sky fox over the scene. you can see two tow trucks trying up to right it, maybe they have just emptied out the contents of the back of the truck, of the trailer. so bear delaware westbound side of route 40 is what is shut down pulaski highway at school bell road, overturn tractor trailer there has been with us for about three hours now. alternate take applebee road, get on the westbound side of 273 and then take route seven southbound. so again westbound, route 40 southbound overturned tractor trailer. it looks full this morning. >> yeah, it looks like they have brought in a front end loader. >> it could be another couple hours, they have to get those big bands around the truck and lift it up, so they can pull it out. >> eastbound we have got a lane, turning lane shut down, pretty big mess this morning. >> happy monday. >> oh, boy.
7:26 am
>> well, you have seen the video i'm sure by now but we have reasons to tell but a swimmer attacked by a shark in california, over the weekend, southern california, manhattan beach, beautiful area, speaking out about that attack and showing the world his wounds, dawn, he has wound on his chest, hands and every place else. >> he is a lucky guy. entire incident was caught on the beach goer's cell even if. these beach goers had i great the view of the great white and they tried to warn everybody, to get out of the water. >> now steven robely says he was swimming off manhattan beach when a young 7-foot great white shark attacked him. you can see marks on the left side and right side of his rib cage. but, we will show you there he is right there on the stretcher. he says the shark was trying to free himself from a fisherman's hook for about a half an hour before the attack. that shark was not happy. he wasn't sure if he was going to make it out of the water
7:27 am
alive. >> i used this hand to grab the nose of the shark and try to pry the mouth open off of the chest. fortunately the shark let go. >> robely is a distance swimmer and with a dozen of other swimmers at the time. officials say the shark remain there for 20 minutes and then just appeared in the merky water. as for whether or not he is ready to go back in the long distance swimming in the open waters, he will to have pray bit. i don't think his wife wants him too. by the way, you guys, it turns out a path will border helped to rescue him. he doesn't know who that person is but wow like to find that person and thank them personally for rescuing him. >> you see that person in the video, you never know who he is, will they go back in the the water, and that pier is closed, by the way until thomas a prehe caution.
7:28 am
>> shark was mad, struggled around for a half an hour with a hook in his mouth. i'm not even driving near the water anymore. >> thank you. >> well, let's do this at 7:28. quincy on the show trying to get in shape. look at this. >> you guys know i'm always in shape but we're here, behind art museum steps they are getting red which a two week shred. you guys have been describing all weekend doing bad things over the weekend and we will get you guys ready to get back in summertime fitness coming up next.
7:29 am
7:30 am
7:31 am
at 7:31 on this monday, protests continue on both sides, you know situation children illegally crossing the border in the united states. top white house official says no one, not even children can illegally enter the united states without facing deportation. a lot of people called president owe bam at deportation president. lawmakers in washington d.c. are speaking out, some want to help the children, while they are here but others want them deported as soon as possible, brett bear is into talk about this from washington d.c. first of all, happy machine to you if that is, a misnomer, happy monday. brett, what can we do about this. >> well, i'll tell you what,
7:32 am
listen to the department of home land security, its secretary this weekend, jay johnson on meet the the press, mike, he was pressed numerous times about whether these deportation hearings would start right away for these children, thousands of them over the border. he would not answer that directly. and that was pick up on here in washington pretty significantly. it has a number of lawmakers calling for deportation of these folks. the parents and children right away. what has to happies that something has to happen. now what that is, whether it is from washington or on the stateside. >> there has got to be action. >> somehow, send an envoy to all these countries where kids are coming from if one more kid leaves this country to come to the united states illegally we will shut off all aid to your country. >> that was one of the reasons vice-president biden made the swing through guatemala and central american countries is
7:33 am
to send a message perhaps not as blunt as that but a message thaw need to stop deporting, all of these kids to the u.s. >> i know things are horrible in their lives from the countries they are coming from but how about congress pass some immigration, reform. did you see the poll numbers now for congress? historic lows. down to about 7 percent approval, six or seven percent approval of congress. how about do something. >> reporter: yeah, there is not a lot of love for congress. it is funny they if you ask that generic question that is number you get f you get how is your congressman, you get a much different number. it is a different thing when you talk about looking towards midterms. he overall there is a lot of frustration with washington in general. >> that is for sure. hopefully you had a great weekend and we will see you again tomorrow. lets get weather. it should be an eight on a scale of one to ten.
7:34 am
>> yes, it is, we have a knew pool day because it will be really humid to just jump in and take a dip. it will be so refreshing. if you are so fortunate today. just like buddy is. he is off school. temperatures in the 60's. the mostly in the 07's walking out the door right the now, expect plenty of sunshine today. there is your aid. the pluses of the day is that summery warmth and no thunderstorms in the the forecast for today, but the minuses, humidity will return and we will head back into the 90's, nothing on ultimate doppler radar, it is warm, it is humid right now, 75 degrees, the not too bad with the humidity too bad just yet 62 percent but thanks to the southeasterly winds. ninety-two today. hot and humid. could be a first day of the heat wave. there is a possibility for three in a row. seventy-four, was that froid an. another muggy night tonight. >> thanks, cue. we go to the left bound side,
7:35 am
sky fox overhead at that scene. we have westbound side completely shut down, that is pulaski highway in that area right at school bell road. overturn tractor trailer there. maybe, a ups truck or something like that that was caring a lot of boxes. they did have that emptied out trying to upright that but it has been shut down, you can see it right there the white tractor trailer in the center of your screen. the red tow truck, white tow truck there in the median. they are going to try to upright that soon. you will have a lane blocked if you are heading out on the eastbound side. but take apple bee road and jump on the westbound side of 273 and then take that to route seven south as an alternate a again, as an alternate shut down. they are diverting traffic and it has been here for two hours. >> once these start to work they will to have shut down southbound side too. >> so they can pull it upright. i know that i could never stand the pain of giving birth.
7:36 am
i cannot imagine giving birth like in the the passenger seat of my car. >> it happens so often. >> i know, it happened again. camden county over the weekend. the little boy just could not wait, so he was so anxious to get out of his mommy, and into the world, he pops out, in the front seat of the car in the emergency room of a hospital. >> he could not even making it of the parking lot. >> four days before the due dade. devon went into labor. her cousins has third kids of their own and drove devon and kids to the voorhees hospital. he didn't make it when the baby started coming out. >> i pulled in the parking lot. he was coming out. >> by the time we were on our way to the hospital she's like my god his head is coming. i'm thinking he is in pain but sure enough when we got to the hospital his head was out. >> hello. >> devon gate birth to a bouncing baby boy. mom and baby are back home and they are doing great.
7:37 am
ironically, the grandfather came in the world the same way in a car. >> yes, his grand pop, was delivered in the taxi cab going to the hospital. >> the same hospital. >> yes. >> what are the odds, right. >> the hospital where he works apparently the kids in the back seat. they were gone. >> they were in the back seat. >> what is going on, where did this baby come from. >> they had to explain in the middle of the chaos. >> how did they get out of there. >> where did it come from. >> way back there. >> we have put a call in, would i love to meet her and the baby. next up, higher pay or better co-workers? what would you choose? would you take a pay cut, to work with people that you like? blank. the results of a new study, that will get you talking, now your managers would be included in your talking, now your managers would be included in your co-workers, right.

bargaining, the depression, but ultimately the acceptance if you are riding through. i think we have to learn to change our language, for instance, someone will ask at a funeral how did the family do? if they were crying, they would say they didn't handle it well f they weren't crying they said they stood strong. i want to suggest that is probably the wrong language because when something like this happens the the appropriate response is cry. the the appropriate response is to vocalized our questions, our concerns, our anger, and feel through this but then i'm reminded of what we see at the bottom of the screen after a stunt man does something on television and it says do not attempt this at home alone. when we're going through this and processing the four children in southwest or the child in western pennsylvania, or winter, you have got to talk about it with someone else.

we were designed to do this together. so as we are all in philadelphia, thinking about the death of children we need to see those children as our children and part of how bee process this is help that family it is so hard when you are sitting there and you see a little pink casket where a three-year old girl is in it and this is a program from the ceremony from winter larkin and perfect parents, brad and cheryl. cheryl sent me a message and said over a thousand people were in attendance at the church. she touched so much and pastor allen waller, your eulogy was profound our little angel touched so much lives and accomplished so much in three and a half years. it was signed by cheryl ape brad larkin. we are thinking of you this morning as well. it was interesting, that the godfather says his mother helped him through this too by saying i have been trying for 81 years to get where winter

know. we will let the family know, that your pain was not in vein, because you were willing to allow it to be discussed and maybe somebody is doing better, turf believe that is part of the process. i think we have to believe that whatever happens, if i were in church and i was on the quote script tour would i say all things work together for good and love the lord and call a correspondence to go his purpose f we even reject that type of language, we have to accept that there is, ultimately purpose behind everything. it may not be revealed today but those who live a little while realize that everything sort of works out and what you learn today you can use tomorrow and even your tears today will become the triumph of tomorrow. and if you go through this process, believing that, it will ultimately be all right.
