7:33 am
the cold case, it is more philosophy. it is saying that the old ways over. we have new police department. we're going to be doing things a new way, and that our people in the poor city, one of poorest cities of america, our victims are as important as anybody else, any big cities? but the old way -- was pretty good way, how are your techniques different than modern police force, would you say? >> i don't think they're any different. you know, we're just doing follow up on what's already been done on these cases. cases have been thoroughly worked, and we're just trying, you know, sometimes cases just get backed up because the guys working the cases just get more cases and more cases -- >> isn't it always a fresh set of eyes? >> that too, yes. >> yes? >> can you tell me anything at all about what they were doing yesterday in camden? what are they looking for? >> right now, active investigation, we're looking
7:34 am
into a possibly decade old murder, and we're glad we have strong partners with the fbi, camden county department. >> interesting idea to bring all of your experience, your expertise into this unit. it is really interesting. it is being done in other cities around america, too. how many cases are you working on? >> well, we have been given ten to 15 cases initially to work on. but we're -- our department hasn't restricted us from looking at -- we've looked at cases, 15, 20. >> give me a success story? >> marty? >> last week we lock up a man by the name of tino cruz for killing a woman, an innocent woman, at eighth and tulip street in the city. it was over basically nothing. it was a case that meant a lot.
7:35 am
>> this woman was pretty much loved in that neighborhood. and she was an air force veteran. she was a woman who was, you know, someone's daughter, someone's sister, a mother. she served her country honorably, in some way along the way from thereto tulip street. >> it is an over us dollars -- over used word, but closure, after these years, family has to feel a little better about it? >> well, the family was absolutely amazed. i mean, you know, her sister cried for 15 minutes, like i couldn't even talk to her. she had said to me, you know, i thought you forgot. >> i thought you forgot? and a lot of times we do forget. you know, we do these stories, a than wean don't -- years go by, and then they aren't solved. thank god for you guys. i mean, without you, that case could have gone unsolved forever. >> we're hoping to brg
7:36 am
ne did. >> is that you, marty? >> nice job there, too. >> thank you. >> great to meet you guys. >> thank you. >> please keep us update the. what a great idea, sue. >> it sure is. and coming up next, we have another bittersweet story for you. a father loses his baby daughter after only a few shore months. now, he just wants one picture of his baby girl, without all of the tubes and wires. see the amazing response
7:37 am
7:38 am
7:39 am
>> i us a like viewers different opinions on different stories watch do you think about this? a grieves farther, reaches out to all of us on the internet, using facebook or twitter, instagram. >> right. >> and he got an overwhelming response from us. >> here to tell thus story, and it is so sad, it is chris murphy. >> with a interesting ending watch do we think? i think it is amazing,
7:40 am
outpouring and support. story of this past's request making headlines, all over the internet right now. so this is the only picture nathan had of his six month old daughter sophia. the sad part sue was talking about. according to elite, she passed away while waiting for a liver. nathan asked users if they could help him out. and get him a picture of his little girl without all of those tubes. so this was the response. they just poured in. look at this. they photo shopped, yes, little baby, the way she would look without all of the tubes. the dad could not keep up with all of the responses stayed up until 3:00 in the morning trying to respond to all of the wonderful people who stepped in to help him out. encourage to go see how many people stepped to up help this dad out. you would never want your lasting can do that photo shopping. >> amazing. >> what a cute little babe. >> i gorgeous. >> interesting idea. i like it. i'm glad that dad thought of it. >> yes. >> and initially i wasn't sure. and i think we all feel like
7:41 am
oh, but it is bittersweet i guess is the word? >> you might think it was morbid until you see the pictures, i think. >> right. >> they turned out so well. >> all right, chris, thank you for that. okay, i can't believe how popular lacrosse camp is for kids. jen, where can we play? >> okay, well, we are in pitman, new jersey, but there are lacrosse camps all around. look at these kids. it is the fastest growing sport in the country, and certainly here in the northeast. and they're having fun. so why philadelphia wings lacrosse team taking off out of philly? we'll talk about
7:42 am
7:43 am
7:44 am
>> 7:44, sue. >> and it is getting bert. see the blue skies taking over up in the pocono mountains, and eventually. that will happen here, as well. not quite yet. but eventually. because the cold front hasn't quite cleared the coast yet. but as we take a look at ultimate doppler, see where rain is. we've gotten rid of the rain for the most part in philadelphia area. you still see few distributes, drabs around, front kinds of hugging the coast right now, so as we look closer at some of the shore points, we had
7:45 am
some rain in cape may. it looks like up toward atlantic city, maybe around margate, getting some rain right now. then at the delaware beaches, it is raining pretty heavily. and as you go further south, around ocean city, maryland, we've got thunderstorm, one more, for good measure, i guess, before that whole cold front gets out of here. so the temperatures trends, shows us that we had another heatwave. starting on sunday, with 91 degrees, monday was 90, yesterday was 91. even with the limited sunshine. but now things are about to change. you can see the warmer temperatures hanging on, a long the coast, we're at 73 degrees, nor folks folk at 74. go out to the west, pittsburgh, very cool 55. so i think at this time tomorrow morning some of the temperatures on this map will be in the 50's. 73 degrees right now in philadelphia. it is 60 right now in mount pocono. you can bet on the 50's tomorrow morning, at this time. so, it starts to feel sticky above 60 degrees, what we've now seen dew points start to drop little bit even as close
7:46 am
as pottstown, but still pretty sticky here, in philadelphia. so, it is a muggy morning, for awhile, 13-mile per hour breezes are helping to clear out the air. and those breezes are out of the northwest. that is a good thing. so, 83 degrees today. no more 90s, in store, then two ten's still for thursday, friday. we've been promising you those all week long. that's still in the forecast. now saturday forecast is improving. by sunday, though, we do see the chance after pop up shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. back to humidity, by monday, and tuesday of next week. caste? >> let's get out to the roadway, do have a lot to look out for, let's look first every all at all of the majors, 59 south, normal culprits, very delayed this morning, 476 northbound, expect slight slow down, mays landing, some construction going on blocking the right lane until 5:30, the westbound side of the a.c. expressway, between route 50 and route 73. so, that's pretty long stretch, it will be little
7:47 am
delay ridden. lower merion downed pole, downed wires, waverly at mt. pleasant road. >> got you. i find this fascinating. let's say i like your outfit. take a picture or just point my camera at t your outfit, and your outfit. new app that will tell me who is the designer of the outfits, where where i can get it. and there is an actress has created something, shazam, where you listen to music in a restaurant. >> tells us what the song is. >> and who has been singing. this is created snap and steel. when you see someone wearing an outfit, that you really like, just take a picture of it, then up load that picture to her app, the snap and steel. that find out, you know, finds out the outfit through about 300 different retail partners that she is crammed into this app. and it tells you exactly where you can get it, and there is
