>> by the afternoon, you could really feel the difference, with that humidity, going away, and the sunshine taking over, and now, it is so much better. so we've got nothing much to show you on ultimate doppler, except the rain that's off shore. now, let's talk temperature trends. because, as we mentioned yesterday, we did have a heatwave in the midst of all of those storms on sunday, mo n day, tuesday. humid each day. the second one of 2014. this time last year, we were in the midst of the fourth heatwave of the year. and it was a eight day long heatwave. if you recall. right in the middle of july 2013. well, that won't repeat. >> this year, in fact, we started the trends yesterday high of 83 degrees, will continue today. very cool in many parts of the country. you heard about the air coming down from the north pole, et cetera. well it, did cool things off a lot. so temperatures 53 in cincinnati and pit burying, it is a warmer 68 degrees in philadelphia.
7:18 am
but we have had some temperatures in the 50's, this morning, like up in the poconos, where it is 57. it is 63 in atlantic city, 60 degrees in lancaster, but really feel the difference with the dew points, once they're down in the 50's, starts to feel comfortable. that's the way it will be today and tomorrow for sure. maybe into even into parts of saturday. so seven day forecast, looking pretty fabulous, for today and tomorrow. and saturday. even though we'll see extra clouds saturdayment sunday forecast is improving with rain now maybe holding off until very late in the day, maybe not even until nighttime. humid starting upon day, stays unsettled tuesday, and wednesday of next week. so we get back to the heat, humidity, as you know, we always do, in july, but it is nice to have this break just for little while. caste? >> thank you very much, sue. there is so much going on on the roadways, we start with accidents, move over to the construction on 95, this morning. in uekland township eastbound side of the pennsylvania turnpike, as you approach

7:32 am
accident reported there. you can see that slow down leading up to the scene plus the normal volume on the westbound side of the pennsylvania turnpike, so a lot going on out there this morning, construction on 95, doesn't look like too bad right now, just normal delays there, 15 miles per hour as you head toward the vine, 8 miles per hour on 76, right around city avenue, this morning. guys? >> okay, we've been telling but this weird story that we learned about. an uninvited guest makes his way into the kennedy compounds up in high and he is port, yes, the kennedy compound, those kennedy's. police say the 53 year old man who is said to be undergoing a mental health evaluation made his way into the compound somehow. what's with the security. he sat on the couch, 'd drink, he made a sandwich. he red a book. before being discovered by one of the kennedy family members, so, this coupled with bizarre story about san doctor bullock, somebody breaking into her compound, los angeles, got us thinking. what are the rules?
7:33 am
why can't we get these people put into a jail or a mental facility or something? ken rotweiler looking into this, our legal analyst, i guess every state has different opinions. let's remind everybody about what happened with sandra bullock first of all? >> san doctor bullock woke up one night, heard noise outside her bedroom door, 1:00 a.m. went and opened up her bedroom door and standing in her hallway was this strange man. she immediately shut the door, called 911. they came and arrested the guy. he obviously -- what this guy did was he scaled the wall that she had barb wire, win over the wall, what his intentions were, nobody knows at this point, but obviously there to do something illegal. either rob, steel things from her, or hurt her, so it was, you know, a very harrowing situation. >> and she walked in the bedroom and there he is, face-to-face in her own house. how frightening. but here is the thing. a lot of these stalkers will harrass these kind of famous
7:34 am
people, and every day people, too. >> right. >> at what point, a judge will say do you have stay 10 feet away from her or whatever? >> kind of loose things. here is the problem. when you are a shrek rid, you are a celebrity here in philadelphia. if you go out, mike, and somebody wants a selfie from you and you see that person one night, that's nice. well, how about if for the next six, seven, eight nights in a row, that same person every place that you go comes up to you and has a camera, wants a selfie, and you see this person over and over and over and over again? at some point it goes beyond the pail of ac fan and gets to the point where maybe it is fearful. i call it the creepy rule. once it starts to become creepy it is probably stalking. at that point you may want to let the authorities know this person is basically following you every place that go. >> okay, say it gets to be creepy like that. and in the case of sandra bullock, i think it is. she has had couple of cases of guys hanging around her house. what is the rule?
7:35 am
when can you put them in jail? >> it is you have. do you have proof that this person is stalking you, that they're around every place that you go, you have to be the -- the law in california, and here, you have to have a reasonable fear of bodily harm, that there has to be something about what this person does to put you in reasonable fear of bodily harm. so, it has to be repeated conduct. the problem is that you could actually get hurt by this person before, you know, you actually have this reasonable fear. so, it is a very loose law. it is very tough. you have to prove to the authorities that this person was, in fact, following you around, so think about how hard that is to prove? >> you know, related to every day people, too, this poor, 23 year old woman, who graduated from the art institute, you know there is guy, apparently, who allegedly killed her, lived down the hall from her, in the same boarding house. >> right. yes. it gets -- you know what's tough? you can't get a restraining order, mike, against anybody that's basically a non-relative. restraining orders are basically restrict dollars to relative or people that you
7:36 am
have a close relationship with, somebody that you're dating, or something that awed long standing relationship w just because somebody gives you the creeps, it is very difficult to, you know, get any type of order against them restraining them from being around you. >> okay. hey, ken, thanks a lot. >> good seeing you. >> it is 7:36 now. still ahead before you buy that used car for your teenager, listen to this: there are some cars that are just not good for your teenager. right? they can be dangerous. what experts say you should avoid for your child. which car to buy for a teenager. they won't like t but first: what could be the wave of the future? look at this. that is a little robot. robots now becoming the reality, in your house. what would you spends to have a little guy like that help you around the house?

8:01 am
this. we've drive that around first in a little bit. the president of the united states is coming to delaware today. weir welcoming him with very good weather today. it's actually the same all across the eastern part of the country. we're going to get to l 3 degrees today. the clouds will clear and it will be breezy and much cooler. your fox cast for today has the breezes continuing out of the northwest which means there's lower humidity and then tonight we're down to about 64 degrees. it will be a very similar night. once again it will be at least a nighttime thing where you can turn off the air-conditioner and throw open the wind dose. that is fox cast with the weather authority. we'll check more details and get you through the next seven days. taking a look first of all -- down to eight miles per hour if you're heading wees bound on 76. 15 miles per hour as you head towards the vine. that's about as good as it's
8:02 am
going to get. go to eastbound. you did have a motor vehicle accident. it's clear. you don't need to worry about that at all. let's talk about 95, the southbound side between broad and the walt whitman bridge. you got one lane getting by, construction at that scene. if you're heading northbound, one lane getting by, walt whitman bridge to columbus boulevard, 95 going to be really jambed no matter which point you are on this morning. thank you, as i mentioned the president of the united states is going to be in delaware today d. he's using the high 495 bridge as the back drop to announcing a new initiative to. fox 29 life in wilmington. hey, generally. high, guys, that's right, just four hours away from when the president is expected to arrive in wilmington, delaware and then he's expected to speak around 2:00 this evening. he says he's endorsing infrastructure projects like the i495 project.
8:03 am
this bridge here in wilmington, delaware has been shutdown since june 2 after an engineer noticed that the bridge was tilting. four out of the 37 columns that hold up the bridge are out of alignment. crews have been working on the bridge to first complete repairs which will allow the bridge to reopen by or before labor day flt earlier this year president obama was pushing a 302 billion-dollar four year transportation span that would fix roads and bridges while keeping people on the job and saving commuters time and money. that's what he says. yesterday the house approved of a $10.8 billion plan which can at least keep the money flowing through next may. the senate has yet to vote on a similar bill. so while that money was approved, $10.8 billion approved yesterday by the house, president obama says that's still not enough. he wants some long term funding for the transportation project. he'll talk about it all again about 10 after 2 this morning.
8:04 am
mike. 10 after 2, could you be more specific? just kidding. >> it is 8:04. actually your service is online. we dodged a bullet last night, folks. right, guys? first it was cigarettes, now city leaders in philadelphia are trying to tax lap dances. they failed. outrage, the city would like to charge a separate amusement dance. that is on top of the tax already built into the cover charge you pay when you walk into the door. the city already tried taxes the clubs hundreds of thousands of dollars. they fought back. theyic took their dispute to the city's tax board and they unwith. lap dancing is a separate amusement once the person gets inside the club, it's clear the city is absolutely desperate to try to raise revenue. i understand that. i think everybody understands that. if there is a lesson to be learned, the license is you can't start making up new taxes as you go along.
8:05 am
a judge shot down the city's bid to tax that particular activity, but makers can still appeal. the adopted son of a rm post officer penn state assistant football coach is opening up about the alleged abuse he suffered at the hands of his father. this is not the first time weave heard this story. this interview will be on o, oprah within friday's show. in 2012 san dusky was convicted of 45 discounts of child sexual abuse. he's serving 30 to 60 years behind bars. matt's claims were not part of that criminal case. they came to light after he was already charged. we walked about leaving kids in hot cars, right? >> it's a case of leaving your kids alone, a little different. i need your opinion on this. should this woman have been arrested? a north carolina
8:06 am
woman is in jail after police say she left her young daughter alone at a public park while she went to work her eight-hour shift at mcdonald's. now, the mom is 46 years old. deborah harl, she reportedly left her nine year old in a park for 4 hours without any adult supervision. her mom dropped her off at the park so she can play while her mom works. she also says she walks to a nearby mcdonald's alone to get lunch. she is charged with neglect. what do you think? she has no help. it's a public park. she has a cellphone on her, the place where she works is just down the street, should she be in jail? >> i think probably 20 or 30 years ago this might not have been an issue. i went to the park all the time. now people are hyper aware, hyper vigilant. you just can't do it. i don't think so, not today. not at 9.
8:07 am
maybe 13. babysitting age. once you can start baby signature other kids. anyway the woman is in jail. the biggest names in sports attended thes pees in los angeles. one of the noted moments of the night was a speak by michael sam. he was awarded the arthur ash courage award. to anyone out there, especially young people, they don't -- feeling like they don't fit in and never be accepted, please know this, great things -- sorry, great things can happen when you have the current to be yourself. thank you and god please. these are kind of like the academy awards of the sports world. our show, good day philadelphia, we tbhoa women like to talk. it's not me. people do say women like to talk. but there are some situations where men have more to say.
8:08 am
8:11 am
now we have clear. > we got a north wearsly breeze. it will still be very pleasant, 71 degrees your serve temp a low rip current risk and a nine in your uv index. we had our second heat wave of the year this week, sunday, monday and tuesday. but we so focused on severe thunderstorms we didn't make a big deal allot of it. by this time last year in 2014 we were in the midmidof our fourth heat way. on this date we were in the middle of a heat waive that
8:12 am
lasted eight days. it could be worse. in fact, it's a lot cooler. we dwrot that air come fr down from the north pole. it's only 53 in pits wumpleght it's still down in norfolk. warmer air still hanging on there. it will cool off by objection to the form. for today it's 62-degrees in l aen town. 64-degrees in wilmington. 65 in dover and due points are down. that's the part we were looking forward to is the lower humidity. let's put that all today in the seven-day forecast with two 10s and a nine. and sunday things are improving. at least for now the foreka*fs looks like it won't rain until nighttime on the saturday. the humidity returns on monday as you knew it would, by monday, tuesday and wednesday it's feel i pretty sticky out there. still no 90s in the forecast for next week. casey. >> thank you. we are going to get to the accidents and then we're going to take a look at the majors and i'm going to show you what 95 is
8:13 am
looking like right now. east bobbed of the pennsylvania turnpike right around fort washington, an accident. approaching dong ton. you got the left and center lanes with an accident blocked there. 7695, 476 a slight slow down if you're heading out on the new jersey turnpike things look okay. pennsylvania turnpike that's where your slow down. 95 northbound is right here. southbound you are going to have one lane getting by. one lane blocked so that's why you're going to have such a delay and it's all around the walt whitman bridge. it's summertime and the teenagers are maybe down the shore. you're losing contact with them. they're getting into trouble. and then you always -- what are we doing with our kids? how cn we get closer to them. empower parents to feel like a unit again.
8:14 am
we're kind of tearing apart. >> we are a little bit. this is best author, great to have you with us. >> absolutely. how can we reconnect with our kids? especially the teenagers? >> this is a prime time, it is a prime time becauses ' summertime. they are away present school. they are at home and i think that we are just so disconnected as a family unit. but then we have all this technology, parents on phones, parents on tweeter. all that stuff. so that disconnect is really the core issue, is at the base of all of the problems that you see with parents and families. i expectancy a year as a violence prevention at a school district, families that would be involved and then i would do case studies of young people who had parent actively engaged and how their whole demeanor was different. you know what, he discovered some of my teenagers, my daughters when they were
8:15 am
teenagers, their behavior isn't really who they are a lot of times. >> that is the key. a lot of times, parenting is the number one -- it's the easiest job to avoid, the hard eves job to do. it's very difficult. me having my surrogate kid, him being the teen aimer, it is cumbersome. however, many young people, they are going through that battle of self identity, yes, a lot of times i tell parents it is stressful. that's something we were talking about on a break, i do it even with my three and a half year old, not necessarily pinpointing her as being bad, but say, you can't hit. that behavior is bad. is that what it is? >> this is all about words that have power. a live coach, all about words that have power. so when you relanguage, you modify the word to the behavior, not the person. here's one. you have good energy. sometimes they make you so mad,
8:16 am
your children. >> yes. you. > got to force yourself to go over and hug them and love them. does that still work? >> it's what i call the three cs, clean, clear and complete. >> you are the parent, if you don't want on be a parent, don't have kids. when a child does something inappropriate. you say i love you, you are my principles. however your behavior is not prie like. it's what we are doing gives kids power. the best lessons i think i was able to teach my daughters, when we were driving around, with he couldn't get out of the car, we would discuss things. another one, we were much whatting tv, you see something on tv and i would respond and they would independent too out my opinion. i called it ct, just stay with me, ct. it means couch time. it means having video owe if you
8:17 am
have multiple children, that's the hard thing, individualized couch time with each baby. each person gets their own time, no cellphone, no i phone and parents go they don't want to talk to me. well, how many times have you made them? i'm the queen of my castle. this is my domain, let it be your queen document or your kingdom. you call it a date night? how often do you think it has to be done. >> at least 30 minutes per day. everything is going on in the psych ' of the child. it's when the most disruptive behavior happens, after school. many children, some join gangs because they need the sense to belong, that need, if you will. and so with parents, if you connect every 30 minutes a day for the first couple of times, they may not be interested because it's foreign to them. but the more you connect, the more young people want to be love. eventually, when you establish that rapport, you affirm them for who they hr, they're going to come to you simultaneously and so you have the
8:18 am
conversation. it's called couch time. you set a date one time. they can see your life and then they set a date. you have a website? you have books? what is it. >> it's entitled sole bodiment. i was here for an empowerment conference. www.com ma quill. 86,400 seconds in a day, how many minutes and seconds are you maximizing with your kids? we have to relanguage. you are the parent, however we got to modify our behavior. we'll he be talking the rest of the day. you're a great day. >> thank you, mike, i really appreciate it. you'll be able to find his books and his website by linking into ours, mike fox philly.com is probably the easy way to do it. make it a great day or not, the choice is yours. >> coming up, did you see this, toyota's new minivan has a very
8:19 am
interesting feature, how the car company plans to help parents behind the wheel so they don't have to yell at the kids in the backseat. this just goes against everything you just talked about. >> it does. i'm sorry. > that technology stings. first, it's a right of passage for every teenager, their first car. but before you buy, listen up, what experts say you should look for to keep the child safe. and they will hate it.
8:22 am
8:23 am
workers and of course we're going to be following the story. parents of teenagers, listen up, p many teens are not driving cars that match their inexperience on the road. her ' just learning how to drive. >> exactly, that's according to the insurance institute for highway safety. chris murphy standing by to tell us which kind of cars are safe for their teenager driver, and probably not the ones your teenager driver wants to drive. i'll tell you why they put me on this investor, story, when i was able to drive, i crashed my car five times. it raises the point, what car is safe for your teens. this group released its first use of recommended used vehicle because 83 percent of parents buy their teens previously owned cars. you don't want to crash a new car. here are some of the things you need to consider for car shopping for your teen. avoid high horsepower vehicles that could temp your teen into
8:24 am
speeding. the first one i crashed i was driving a mustang. the bigger cars that has the space in case of an accident. electronic stability control, that helps the driver maintain control of the car as they go around curves, especially on slippery roads. parents, you should also pick vehicles with good safety ratings. the national highway safety administration is an agency you can check for that information. parents should also check to see if a car that has been used has been recalled, but not fixed. some 36 million vehicles that are on the road right now have in fact, been recalled at some point. you have to check that out. indeed you do. that's for sure flt still ahead, should your boss have a say in how much time you spend in the bathroom at work. >> i think i spent a half an hour in there. >> but you were bumping,. >> for my baby. that debate is heating up in one
8:25 am
office. we'll tell you how much time the workers are getting for a bathroom break and whose job is it to monitor the situation? a good question. first, kim kardashian is making a lot of cash with her new video game, close to $200 million. stop. but your kids are playing this. you better figure out what this game is all about and our tech expert is in to go through this game because the kids are blowing a lot of money on

8:30 am
