7:04 am
where it alleviates the smoke and put what ther from above as well. tough job out here but great job. now it is up to a good job at local hospitals where these people were rushed to. again if you jump out of the window always better to jump out of the second floor or third or fifth floor. they had to jump out front window because flames were out back where they have a grass yard. harder happening. you can see awnings. sometimes in the a straight drop down. when you have awnings below your first floor porch roof that will help break your fall and sometimes fall right on the stoop below. never a great thing to jump out of your house but it was daylight out and a lot of neighbors to help before fire fighters got here on segal street in south philadelphia. you mentioned little girl injured. we understand some of the people involved in this were taken to hahnemann hospital. i know you just got on the scene. any word on how many people have been taken to hand man.

7:32 am
for that little three-year old. you know this, all right, millions of us suffer from back pains. a new study find that acetaminophen is no more effective than a placebo. doctor mike is here to talk about that. good morning, doctor mike. you brought the spine into you. >> i wanted to put a little back pain into my story. i brought the my spine. basically what this study shows is that acetaminophen was no better than placebo in treating low back pain which is the most common reason that people come to doctors and chiropractors and everything. so, acetaminophen is found in all kinds of products, tylenol, but many other products, and it is a great drug for reducing things like fever and helping with certain things. this study, however showed that he when it comes to back pain, it didn't do more than placebo. it is very important for
7:33 am
people to know, chris, that look you don't want to just treat symptoms but get to the underlying problem. so what i do is i tell people maybe you want to take motrin, ibuprofen for back pain but limit used because that can be very dangerous as well. you will want to get to the bottom of the problem, physical therapy, chiropractic, get a diagnosis. >> lets get back to the drugs themselves though, what is the difference between acetaminophen and motrin. >> well, motrin or ibuprofen is a none in steroidal anti-inflammatory, now those drugs, worked good for pain. the problem is they can cause bleeding, stomach ulcers and 150,000 people die a year from taking too much aspirin and ibuprofen. so lots of people like me give people tylenol because it is much safer in terms of bleeding.
7:34 am
problem is does it work? we know if you take too much acetaminophen you can cause liver damage. there is a lot of issues here. but my point of contention is that you need a diagnosis. you want to find out what is causing your back pain? is it a herniated disk? by the way those are shock absorbers in between the vertebrae. if it is a herniated disk you can't to treat witt physical therapy, chiropractic, at the last resort, surgery. we can do spinal injections. all kind of things. >> so many people suffer from back pain. latest statistics show that 80 percent of us americans at on point in our lives will suffer from low back pain. you mentioned surgery. now my wife had surgery in the l1s5 because of ruptured disk. the the date of surgery she was like a new woman, pain free but so many of us are freaked out about surgery. do you you think people don't want to hear the rough truth and so they mask it with just
7:35 am
taking these pills. >> well, in one wants to have surgery. i don't like people to have surgery unless they absolutely have to. if they have something called spinal stenosis is where the vertebrae or disk is pushing so hard on that spinal cord it can lead to paralysis and long term problems. what you want to do though is get a diagnosis and then treat it with simple things like exercise and do back exercises, make sure you get good physical therapy, regimens going. you might benefit from a little bit of medication but don't want to get in the problem. i see this all the time, people get into narcotics, pain medicine they go down a road you don't wanting to. i'm in the saying surgery is bad. it worked for your wife obviously. i think there is a place for it. as a last resort in my humble opinion, i like to be oh, natural good oh, natural. >> do your exercise. >> your core, do some
7:36 am
crunches. >> that is right. >> all right, buddy. hey mike, i love you. >> i love you too, chris, it flows out of your mouth, better. i have to work with mike on that. >> it is because i mean it. >> 7:36 is your time. new batman costume is revealed but there is a problem, what fans are so upset about this morning. quincy is checking out super heroes himself coming to life. >> yes. >> look at you. >> yes i feel like a super hero here at wells fargo center. i will be fighting evil today right here on good day. hey pal? you ready? can you pick me up at 6:30?
