7:33 am
came out this morning. >> it is, dawn. the what is absolutely critical, these people who are trapped on this mountain are part of a much broader situation where you have a complete break down in government in iraq and this group isis or isell which really started out as a off shoot of what is going on in syria, comes into iraq, ran rough shot over iraqi military, got many of its weapons and then went north into mosul three weeks ago, four weeks ago now, or four months ago rather. the iraqi government said please give us weapons, so that we can protect ourselves. we don't trust maliki, the the iraqi prime minister, he is a bad player. he is a a lied with the iranians after we have left. he had to go someplace. he went to the iranians and now you've got this complete mess. but in the north, the kurds
7:34 am
are people that we protect for 12 years during saddam's reign, and they have canned us please give us weapons so we can defend ourselves. we will be flying in support for them, giving them the weapons so they can push issell back out and try to save these 50,000 people stuck on the mountains good with no food or water. >> this blew up friday an intensified this weekend. up to that point president obama had been dropping relief supplies from the air. he has said and said it again over the week end that no ground troops, we're in the doing that again in iraq. at what point does it spill over into triggering the necessity for ground troops. >> the necessarity foreground troops has existed for months. the question is whose troops. so the kurds have said give us the weapons. we will fight. they are a much better, more
7:35 am
effective ferocious and dedicated force then the iraqi government troops would have been. but, you cannot do this from the era loan. the is is has to be for the on the ground, the groups have said give us the weapons, we will do it. we are very late to the game in giving them the means so that they can defend themselves and the longer you wait, just remember bad news doesn't get better with age. >> if you are chuck hagel what do you advise the president to do. >> give them weapons but we're going to have to intensify the air campaign. always ask this question, and then what happens next. you have this limited strike, we were hitting vehicles, we don't need to hit vehicles, we need to hit entire columns. you cannot do that quickly or easily. >> in the meantime this religious group is stuck there on the mountains. we will see how that plays
7:36 am
all. mr. turzanski thanks so much for your time, we will see how this hopefully does not intensify. >> we will talk about that again. >> thanks, ed. you probably saw videos like this on twitter and instagram, over the the last few days, called ice bucket challenge. so what sit all about and why are celebrities and people how know getting involved now? we will tell you how it the all started. and if you log on to facebook over the weekend chances are you saw your friend posting articles about the facebook, messenger app. people are complaining about privacy issues yet again. people are complaining about privacy issues yet again. >> if it can tap into your,

and, everybody else, come here to take in the sights of times square. why not take a picture of elmo. but before elmo is asking you for five, ten, 20 bucks. when you don't give it, they get in your face. it can be scary. that is why nypd has put out these flyers. i don't know if you have seen these. >> in glove you seen these. >> no. >> this is the flyers being handed out here in times square. i'll read it. it comes in five languages. it says photos with customs characters are free, tipping is optional. it is up to you if you want to give a dollar, $2, or $10. or nothing at all. that is your choice. that is the message that they are trying to get out with this new approach with what they called operation character flaw. >> and so we have what four arrests now because of these characters were disorderly towards people or towards police? >> reporter: well, it was towards people. so, to be fair it was three arrests. we had an iron man, spider man

area, probably some extra ones right now. but we will get your travel times, the schuylkill westbound, 676, to 476, that is building up, we're currently looking at about 27 minutes there, and on i-95 southbound woodhaven, just to the schuylkill there is currently a travel time of 27 minutes. dawn? >> all right, thanks sue. still ahead, shopping, it is the number one stress factor for parents when it comes to sending your children back to school. we will tell you how early some parents hit the malls coming up next. anncvideoconferences it's youof the day.rtant hi! hi, buddy! anncr: that's why the wifi and free hot breakfast are something to smile about. and good reasons to book now. feel the hamptonality
