clock back to eastern standard time. i'm haurn hep. >> and i'm lauren johnson. we have so much to get to this morning. >> we do have some good news about that doctor up in new york city being treated for ebola. >> first we want to get to your interactive weather and take a live look outside. >> it does look like there's some haze on the camera lens. it's not from the weather. it's such a different picture from what we had yesterday but it's not the whole story. you might look outside and see those leaves blowing along. if they're still on the trees. it's been so windy and i started yesterday afternoon. the winds continued overnight and they will all day today. we're on the back side of the storm system that brought us the rain yesterday, it brought snow to parts of the appalachianian mountains and also to the southeastern states. a very rare early november storm

for them. cape cod really getting hammered. temperatures this morning are very chilly. mainly in the low 40s. that's pretty close to our high temperature yesterday. winds are out of the north and these are gusts which at times, not sustained winds, but at times we're seeing them up to 36 miles an hour in allentown, 49 miles an hour in philadelphia that's down at the airport in south philly. 36 mile per hour wind gusts, that 40 will not be uncommon as we start to go through the morning. the winds start to pick up as the sunrises and the ground heats up. but there won't be a lot of heating. in fact it will be chilly when you factor in the wind with our cool temperatures. 31 is what it feels like, 32 in trenton, 37 in wildwood.

most of the day will feel like the 30s. yes we have a lot of sunshine. but it remains very windy as we go through tonight and into tight temperatures really drop off. we've got a freeze warning in effect for some of our area. in enthuse morning there's a man recovering after being shot in the head. police say the man, who may have been shot in his car, they believe he drove himself to temple hospital. right now the man is in stable condition. hospital officials in new york say a doctor who become infected with ebola is now in stable condition. dr. craig spencer has been at bellevue. he's been receiving therapies that have been effective in treating ebola patients in atlantic and nebraska. fox 29 helping you decide with election day just two days away and the race for pennsylvania governor red hot

has been cut. public education certainly here in philadelphia is the number one issue. it's really going to excite the democratic base to come out because they believe that corbett. >> if you put in a hash tag, all of these come up right now. this is pennsylvania governor raise my taxes now. how about that one? >> wolf. the big theng for corbett, and this is where -- tomorrow wolf has admitted he is going to propose a raise in the income taxes. the unknown is sweary to a lot of voters, so tom corbett is doing a good job of raises the issues your taxes might be raised. >> they make you chuckle. this one says pennsylvania

governors cut 2.1 billion from public education while handing out 3.1 billion in corporate tax breaks annually. this is one of the things that gets people so fired up. >> there's a difference between the haves and have notes. it goes to tt heart of people's emotions saying wait a minute the big businesses get tax breaks and we believe you're cutting funding for families that are sending their kids to school and don't have enough supplies, things like that. it really is very emotional and can be very effective. >> last one. we'll put it up right now. this is the last one we have right now. the wolf man, what do you think of this one? >> it's effective. i mean, remember at this point there's only two days left. people aren't really changing their minds. it's about getting what we call in politics your bait. republicans to vote republican, democrats to vote democrats.

voters. voters tend to stay home as we all know during a nonpresidential election so he's hoping to rally those voters. obama is the fourth high profile democrat to campaign for wolf. both clintons and michelle obama have done so in recent weeks, wolf leads corbett in the polls but the governorer is getting some star power of his own. chris christie will be in bucks county at a campaign event for corbett at 8 tonight. that rally at the spring mill man or on jacksonville road. back here live, even if you haven't been following the governor's race closely, if you live in the state, you've heard the campaign ads, you've seen the signs, and really heard all the ralying cries.

>> this is your fox food bite. so today we're going to cook steak. there's no need to go out to a restaurant and spend $40, $50 a steak when you can do it at home for a reasonable price. today we have a sirloin, an eye

round, a fillet mignon, and then i have a rib eye. in my opinion, the rib eye is the king of steak. more fat, more marbling. the more marbling you see in the meet, the more flavorful your meat is going to be. so before you put these steaks on the grill, you have to season. you can season with anything you want, but my personal favorite, right here. montreal steak seasoning. don't be afraid to be generous with your seasoning. throw it on there. a little sloppy, it's okay. you can put as much seasoning as you want. if you like more flavor, don't

be afraid. people tend to grab a fork. that's not what you want to do. what you're going to wind with up on the grill is a piece of shoe leather because all the juices are going to escape. here is a flavor tip. take bacon and wrap it around the filet mignon. now we're going to throw them on the grill. hear that sizzle? that's how you know it's hot enough. the temperature should be on the medium to high range. 5 to 6 minutes each side. you want to get a nice little crisscross on them. then we're going to cook for a few minutes and flip them over. how do you know when they're done. hold your hand up.

rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, well. you touch your hand, you touch your steak. that's what it's going to feel like. so now that these guys have flipped over, we're going to give them, depending on the temperature, we're going to give them five or six minutes and we're going to use the hand method and determine when they're done. don't flip your steaks more than once. it's a mortal sin. if you want to see them cooked again, go to myfoxphilly.com. >> we have those recipes on our website. let's get over to the weather. the story today is the wind.

you can see it in the trees. how strong are those gusts to go gob on this day? >> already up to 40 mile an hour wind gusts at the airport and all around the area you're seeing the same thing. storm system to the northeast that brought the rain and snow to parts of our southeastern states. we're on the back side of it. we'll see sunshine with a few morning clouds but we'll also see the howling winds as they bring colder air back behind that pressure system. cold tonight for a hard freeze. lancaster county are under a freeze warning. temperatures 43 in philadelphia, 44 in millville. yesterday we only saw afternoon temperatures in the upper 40s and we won't be that much warmer today. the wind gusts as mentioned, the bigger story. the trees are blowing like crazy, it will continue through today, wind gusts to 40 mile per

hour here in philly, 29 mile an hour wind gusts in atlantic city. it makes you feel colder. the wind chills in the 30s. seven-day forecast shows some improvement and at least some warming. 50 degrees is all for the high temperature. a cold start in the 30s, a lot of us will see temperatures beginning around that freezing mark but a lot of us have already experienced a hard freeze so far this fall. monday's high temperature 58 and we turn mild by election day. 66 degrees and sunshine. we keep it mild in the the end of next week with some showers and temperatures fall back into the 50s. >> a montgomery county boy got a serious scare when he opened his halloween candy on saturday morning. j jennifer gage says he found a

razor blade. >> a little piece of candy like every other child does the morning after halloween and finds a razor blade. look at this. it looked rusty, like someone had it laying in their or something and said oh, let's put this in candy. >> investigators say the blade ended up sandwiched between the bar and the wrapper. that investigation continues. >> take a look at this. you know we love our disney. it's a small fire that broke out on one of the fires there. videos appeared on youtube just a short time later. a spokesperson says em bers from fire works landed on the mine train. everybody was safely evacuated.

pretty good one. sales projections are 4% higher than last year. in addition to traditional stores and malls, online sales are going to be on fire again this year. here's a few tips to help navigate you through the season. first, check out a couple of free online apps right on your smart phone you can get one. the first one is called price grabber. it allows you to compare the price of certain products right on your screen. no more driving all over the place. second, how about an app called shopular. it will send ads to your phone every single day. you pick the stores. it could save you a lot of time. the second tip is make sure you save those receipts. why? because if a product goes on sale usually within 90 days, most merchants will honor that and give you the difference

we're drying out, a lot of places around the country still reeling from the snow they got yesterday. these are pictures of snow piling and piling up in north carolina. it's mainly in the higher elevations, obviously into the smokey mountains in tennessee. parts of tennessee see two feet of snow from yesterday. that's unbelievable. and one of our faithful followers wants to know how much snow could we get this weekend? the jury is out for now. it does look like we're off to a pretty active start. there's even a hint of a chance of snow showers by friday, friday night. temperatures 40 degrees in allentown right now. 43 in philadelphia, 44 in millville. again the wind out of the northwest, gusting up to 40 miles per hour here in philadelphia.

expect it to be incredibly windy and expect those wind chills to probably stay in the 30s through much of the day. only 50 degrees for the high temperature. seven-day forecast shows after a very blustery sunday, we'll see the winds ease, a cold start to monday. 58 for the high prosecutor. the warmer weather returns, 66 there on tuesday. thursday the rain returns and then friday, we'll have to see if we can see another low coastal system affect us next weekend. >> your nice right now. we are learning more about the capture of accused cop killer eric frein. a task force commander says he saw a figure moving from the woods towards that, an abandoned airplane hangar. the commander and his team caught him by surprise. he did not try to run. he is accused of ambushing and killing corporal brian dixon back in september. dixon's family is talking about

counts right? so here we go. first example is the snickers versus the 100 grand. what do you think is the better option? the lesser of two evils? >> i'll say snickers because it has peanuts and they're healthy? >> that's what everybody thinks. but you would be wrong. when it comes to calories, the 100 grand bar is 190 calories. the snickers bar is 250. that's 60 calories. 8 grams of fat in this one, 12 grams of fat in the snickers bar. we have take 5 versus a butterfinger. take 5 has a bunch of stuff in it including pretzels and actually take 5 is the way to go here. 210 calories. butterfinger 250 calories. now, these two candy bars are

tricky because they both have the same amount of calories, 210. but you get a little difference when it comes to fat grams. 11 grams in the kitkat and 13 grams in the hershey bar. we know we love hershey, but know what you get when you're eating one. the little ones, we have one reeses cup and a little kitkat. the kitkat is the way to go. we want to show you this because this is what 100 calories look like. that one little half of a reeses candy bar. and finally we show you one of the best examples to take care of your sweet tooth. a sucker, 60 calories and it will last you probably 15 minutes to get through this lollipop. >> those are good. the hard part is when all the coworkers dump all the candy in the news room for us to eat.

#fox29weekend. >> four penn state students cited for what they call an egg throwing incidents. police say they threw eggs at a campus building. psu's coach says the situation is uncalled for. >> this is one of our really fun segments. we're so lucky to have a team of junior reporters that work for us. they dig in and find these truly amazing stories. this morning we're joined by carlos from rider university. where did you go and what did you find? >> i visited the philadelphia magic gardens, and basically it's been here for a while in philly, but i thought it would be interesting to see how we could keep up with this day and age of social media and it's doing pretty well for this day and age. let's take a look. >> reporter: a big city means traffic, technology, and a lot of other things.

amongst all that, art in philadelphia remains alive today. one of the most recognized locations on south street is philadelphia's magic gardens. >> we are a nonprofit mosaic museum, visionary art environment gallery space as well as a community center all roled into one. this was all founded and created by our artist isiah. he came to this neighborhood specifically in 1968 when this was a dangerous neighborhood. he came into this area as a prime opportunity to actually beautify the neighborhood. >> magic gardens gives back to the community through various events. >> we offer a lot of low cost and free activities for kids and families alike. we also host a lot of art opportunities and exhibitions for local artists. >> reporter: even with all the social media that exists today that allows people to view anything at any time, experiencing the art firsthand
