the nation watched and waited as family members begged for her safe return home. days later a man was arrested in maryland and car leash a gater was found alive. priet investigator joe cor roon owe former philadelphia police officer joins us via skype. let's go straight to facebook. great news, all too often these cigs do not have a positive outcome. thank god they found her alive. keith said hats off to the great work of police and fbi for brinking her safe to her family. who do you credit for a happy ending this time around? >> you have to really credit -- first of all, thank you for having me on again. but you have to credit everyone. you have to start with the media. you know, the way that the media ut p it out and promoted it. and then secondly, how quick the philadelphia police department responded to this. they didn't overlook any details from the moment of the first phone call to the officer that responded and saw the glass on the ground, the phone, something obviously happened and they just

what he would have done to her if authorities didn't act fast. initially people were critical of police saying they didn't act quick limit in your opinion, do you think that they moved as tpa*fs as they could have in that situation. lauren, 70 hours later she was found and she was found safe. so i believe she -- all law enforcement, including the media, everyone acted accordingly. you know, people have a perception that police departments have an oversight. you know, this global camera that much whats everyone and everybody move about, but that's not what happened here. it's a progression and it processed rather quickly, 70 hours and that's what we have to keep focus on. they responded very quickly. > good point. >> we got a lot of comments about this guy's wrap sheet. chris california said the justice system failed everyone on this after his vial event history against women in general he should have never been released. why wasn't he in jail. this guy shouldn't have been out

assassination plot against the queen of england. scotland yard confirms has arrested four people as part of this ongoing investigation. british sources say four islamic freedom fighters planned to use a knife to kill the queen at a weekend filled with celebrations to commemorate the 96 years since the end of world war 1. > we also have a missing person's story. police is hoping someone has seen this woman. so take a good look. this is 36 year old april parker. she was last seen on tuesday at the 200 block of lud low street. she is bipolar and does require medication. if you see her, please immediately call 911. now to the story had twitter talking this week. a mysterious boy named alex bagging items from a target store. so many people were talking about him. but why was he? was he so popular. even alex didn't know. the first time he heard about

the trend is when the manager showed it to himself. they master minded the trending topic based off a picture they found on twitter. alex claims he has no idea what he's going on. apparently there was a company wanting to take credit of taking the pick. my family and i have never heard of this company. what's going on here? what kind of marketing scheme is going on here. we want to start with this tweet first. it's from ak who writes can we talk about how hill layer is it is that hashtag alex from target was a very successful prank? was the work of a marketing mind or someone trying to use social immediate media to try to blow things up? >> it's hard to belief that anybody would go out and do this unless target had asked them to do it. of course major companies like target spend a fair amount of triem trying toette oar monitor
8:31 am
what's going on in the social media or even impact it and impact it proactively. it doesn't make much sense if target doesn't feel about it and this kid didn't know about it that somebody came in and spent the time and money to do this with no potential reward. >> you don't buy it that target had nothing to do with it at all? michael writes if this hashtag from target phenomenon is actually a marketing ploy, bravo for taking advantage of kid's social media, do you think that's what happened here? >> well, that's right, if you look at the generations that care about such things are really engaged in social media, jen y and jen z he kind of follows in and around that. no, i'm not surprised at all particularly given the age level we're talking about, these kinds of things, attractive young people really make a difference to them. > do you think that the people
8:32 am
that are on social media are the same audience that's coming in and spending their money and their dollars at target? >> that's an interesting concept because they said historically that half advertising isolate id, they don't know which half. in this case i don't know if it has any impact at all, other than a group of young ladies trying to visit alex at his particular target. our last tweet comes from roger. he asks i wonder what kind of effect hashtag ales ex is having on target. it's been every where. look at what we're doing now on television. we're giving them additional publicity. hey, if they didn't pay for it, they're sure getting a lieutenant for their money. what do you say is the big take away from this for other businesses out there. >> if you don't tap in to the kind of generations social media goes nowhere. > agreed. thanks so much for your time. we appreciate.

temperature at 8:30 with some scattered clouds. outside right now we do have a cold front moving in from the west. it won't bring us any rain, but we'll enjoy a sunny start to the day. clouds will increase as the front comes through. it's only 28 in mount poke oh, 33 in pottstown, many of us starting the day at freezing or below. 38 here in philadelphia, 33 millville, already 41 in wildwood. temperatures are responding to that sunshine. it gets warmer every hour. we'll only make it to 50-degrees for your high temperature. that's about 10-degrees below the normal. then as you head into sunday, 55-degrees. we'll get a nice warming trend through veterans. right on the heels of a warmup. check out those temperatures. the bottom falls out. we turn sharply colder. cold enough for maybe some snow showers next thursday although some of you already saw some of those frozen flakes. 43 is all for the high temperature. 45 there next saturday. so the roller coaster ride of temperatures continues.

8:41 am
>> and pete, he says it seems like we all survived before cellphones there should be an ig missing switch that belows up your driver's license if you are seen texting while you are behind the wheel. moving or stopped, people. and trust me the world will not end if you miss that text. i agree that the world will not end. however, it is a compulsory thing just like checking our twitter and facebook. if you hear that, even if it's in my purse, i just want to know who it is. >> the other day i actually left my phone home, i was too lazy to go back and get my phone. i was going to meet someone. but i don't have my phone, what if they're trying to get in touch with me. we're all sitting at the bar, we're all sitting there entexing. no more face to face. this guy was like when my battery dies, i go crazy. >> me, too. it's almost like you lose a limb. > did you ever text and drive.

> it's time for your news now. one of the teenagers injured in a shooting in wash to be state last month has died. 15 year old andrew phi ^berg died last night. he was a cousin of the shooter, jay line fry ^berg. five people died when he started shooting in his high school cafeteria just two weeks ago. business owners in missouri say they are concerned about another protest. all of it surrounding about a grand jury's decision about whether or not to indict the shooter of brown. > this morning a florida mother is desperately asking for your prayers. her nine year old is paralyzed and diagnosed with something called a white brain disease. carla grib in is her name and she says her daughter mary sue was happy and healthy until she got a flu shot and then just three days later she couldn't walk and couldn't talk.
8:48 am
she recently appeared on fox and this is part of that interview. what did happen and are dr.s certain that there was a direct link between the flu shot your daughter received and her subsequent paralysis. >> the doctors won't confirm it or deny it. her father, stephen and i are, due to all of our research certain that is what caused mary sue's condition. she was a happy, healthy, running and plage nine year old when this happened. there was no underlying condition. i mean they did so many tests at the hospital to try to find something else that could have caused it'd and could not find anything. > so joining us now by skype right now, dr. judy lark kin is who a pediatrician at jefferson. thanks so much for joining us. >> you're welcome. > we hear a story like this and every parent out there absolutely pan iks. it's what we're so afraid of. what do you think.
8:49 am
>> obviously stories like this are concerning and was mentioned they couldn't come up with any other reason for this event to happen. obviously the mom is thinking i that it may have been the flu vaccine. i think it's true that some of these things are so rare that there's not enough cases of them to do the scientific research on them to find out where did they come from and when you look at cause and affect there is absolutely there was the vaccine, but there is also a possibility that brought this on since it's such a rare disorder. unfortunately in the world of medicine, you know, most treatments, most therapies, most preventative type things, they're never 100 percent effective and they're never 100 percent without risk. flu kills a lot of people every year. when you look at numbers, 36,000 people a year in this country die. so that number includes people who have underlying illnesses. but it also includes healthy people and it includes healthy kids. > i know over at my kids
