it is a great morning from old city philadelphia. it is saturday, november 22nd, i'm karen hepp. >> and i'm lauren johnson. >> growing tensionness ferguson missouri and here at ohm. >> and also a federal judge makes a ruling on sports betting in new jersey. >> we want to begin with your weather. caitlin, it's chilly out there. >> very cold morning, you guys. and we're seeing record lows in some spots, mainly up north in allentown where they started the day off at 16 degrees. we're looking ahead to the philadelphia marathon. that's tomorrow morning. luckily not going to be as cold. we're starting off as 38 degrees at 7:00 a.m. that's the beginning of the race time. that's still cold but it won't
8:02 am
but as cold as it is this morning. so outside right now, we're going to see a lot of sunshine through the morning hours, maybe a few clouds later on. you can see it's moving through ohio so it's not too far away, that pink indicating mixed precipitation, it's not just rain, something frozen, by the time it reaches us, warm air will get ahead of it, so it's really not until sunday night. temperatures maybe not so good. 20 in allentown, it's 28 in philadelphia, and 25 in dover, delaware. so we are starting off very chilled. a lot of sunshine will boost temperatures into the 40s. even though this is not close to normal, 45 degrees will be the temperature later on today. we'll have your seven day ahead. >> thank you. let's look at our headlines right now. philadelphia police are on high alert awaiting the results of a grand jury probe of a shooting of a teenager in ferguson,

8:04 am
persona people know about bill cosby should people think any different. >> there is no comment about that. and i'll tell you why. i think you were told, i don't want to compromise your integrity, but we don't -- i don't talk about it. >> everybody else has been talking about this one. howard writes in, i'm all for innocent until proven guilty but if bill cosby is thinking no response is going to get it done, no mistaken. also where there's smoke there's fire. too many voices at this point to ignore. we want to bring in two of our experts to talk about this. an attorney and a crisis management expert. so jeff, we're going to start with you. good morning to both of you.
8:05 am
>> good morning. >> so jeff, this comment says the more bill cosby denies talking about these accusations the more guilty he looks, how should he be handling this. >> the first thing he shouldn't have done is go on television and agree to do interviews. they're for new shows, but how doesn't his handlers or his attorneys know once you're sitting down for an interview, all questions unless they agree beforehand but they usually don't do that, not to ask him certain questions. those are on the table. you're on the record. i don't agree that he should have done those interviews to begin with. especially since you have all these allegations, new allegations and old allegations coming back to surface. >> at this point everyone thinks you've got to say something. you don't think he should be saying something. >> now he's saying something by saying nothing. his attorney has been out there
8:06 am
denying. now you're backtracking. i think initially there should have been a statement certainly if that's the truth, categorically denying any of this and niping it in the bud. it's almost like drip, drip, drip. even sitting down for an interview with the associated press and the camera is supposedly off and he's saying you're not going to use that, are you. they've handled it so poorly from a public relations perspective, at this point someone has to come out and say all of these none, i categorically deny, it's very firm, it doesn't seem like they're being as firm as they need to be. >> we also want to take a look at the legal perspective. i think it's false. why not. they've had time to report it and have justice served. so let's start with the legal
8:07 am
perspective. is there a statute of limitations on these claims? >> he's beyond the statute of limitations of all these claims. so he can't be prosecuted from a criminal standpoint. and even from a civil standpoint, it's beyond the statute of limitations. i agree with jeff with regard to the interviews, but i think bill cosby is kind of damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. if he does on and he denies the charges he's going to be cross-examined by the interviewer about the denial. because to date there's been 15 women that have corroborated these incidents. he would have a hard time and would look bad in an interview but equally he looks just as bad because he has said nothing. if you're accused of something you haven't done, you deny it. that's the normal reaction. and that's what he hasn't done, so i think he has a problem both ways. >> thank you both for your opinions and insight. of course we always have the

8:28 am
last winter? >> i don't think it's going to be as bad as last winter. you don't need to panic. but let's talk about what we saw last year. 68 inches of snowfall, making it the second snowiest winter on record for philadelphia. caitlin, just 10 inches below the all-time snowiest winter season. >> so we're coming off the heels of such a bad winter. we might not think it's going to be that bad. what are some factors you take into consideration. >> let's talk about the factors that we're looking at this year. of course the polar vortex, elnino, jet stream paernts and will the systems be nuisance or blockbuster. last year the buzz phrase, polar vortex. >> what does that even mean? do we know what a polar vortex is? >> it's really nothing new. it's something that's always been there. a cold air circulation that's locked up around the north pole and typically you can get a jet
8:29 am
stream pattern that will bring some of that colder air from the polar vortex down from canada, down into the lower 48, and cause us to have well below average temperatures for the winter season. >> and we've already had a taste of that this week. >> we really have. and it looks like the polar vortex is going to be coming back and that could impact how much snow we see. >> and what are we thinking about snow? it looks like we'll have to consider the weak el nino pattern we have to be setting up. in the pacific we have warmer waters and that will lead to a subtropical jet stream. with the weak el nino, we're likely to see more nor'easters setting up and that could bring us more significant can't snow as we move toward the middle and latter part of the upcoming winter. >> what time of year do you expect to see any of these nor'easters? >> i think most of the snowfall will arrive toward january and
8:30 am
february, but we will see maybe a few more flakes before this month is out. and december will likely bring a few nuisance systems. but most of the heavy snowfall we're talking plowable snow will likely occur as we move toward january. that's when i expect the first snow. as we move toward february, that will likely be our snowiest month. two major nor'easters, each differing at least 6 to 10 inches of snowfall. >> last winter we saw 68 inches of snowfall. the good news, i don't expect us to see that much snow. we're talking anywhere from 29 to 33 inches of snow, that's still above the average of 21 inches. but a little best than half of that 68 inches of snow. and last year you know it was
8:31 am
just the. >> nonstop. >> i think we'll see fewer systems but the systems we see in the way of blockbuster. >> that you for the recap. 29 to 33 inches of snow around there for philadelphia, still staying cold and we'll see most of that snow come for after the new year. we'll still have your local forecast coming up next. lauren? >> okay. so we're starting a new weekly segment here, it's called "let it rip." every saturday we're going to break down three big news stores, you react and our guests will let it rip. joining us solomon jones, we're going to start with immigration. the president addressed the nation on thursday. 5 million people possibly protected under his idea. let's go to social media really quickly. immigration action is another way of saying you want to flood the u.s. with third-world,

non-white peasants to help establish a new people. richard writes emotionally overcome by the humane lincoln--esque action. all of us come from somewhere else. all right let it rip. >> first of all, it's not about bringing in or flooding the country with non-white peasants, it's about flooding the country with their tax money. these people are undocumented immigrants who to this point many of them have not been paying taxes. we want to enable them to pay into the system. we want to enable them to benefit anyone. we want to enable them to actually climb and be americans. i don't think there's anything wrong with that. on the question of us all coming from someplace else. that's not necessarily true. my mother-in-law is native american, and so there are people who were here before all of us. and certainly we want to be fair
8:33 am
to everyone who's here. we're all here together now, so we have to figure out a way to make it work and i think that's what president obama has done. >> switching gears. willow and jade smith. >> growing up in hollywood, having two famous parents, having people who are into some cosmic stuff around them has made them just a little bit different. you know. it's a far cry from will smith saying in west philadelphia born and raised. if you brought these kids to west philly, people would be looking at them like they're crazy. >> twitter had fun with this one. after that interview, will smith should send them to live with their aunty and uncle would make a great sitcom. >> i think some of the things they were saying, i think they
