7:04 am
she's first with man to lose her life in the line of duty the in the philadelphia fire department's his try. lets get to jenny joyce live with more details, jenny. >> reporter: alex, i just got a briefing from commissioner sawy eras well as mayor michael nutter, the commissioner said that this fire fighter was extremely hard working, she died this morning, battling a fire with engine 64. we are told that she has been with the fire department for about 11 years, however they are not releasing her identity until they get in touch with her family members. now this fire happened just before 3:00 this morning on the 1600 block of in middleton street in the west oak lane section of the city a as commissioner sawyer described it the the fire fighter who had died she was in the first group line of attack that went autopsy begins this fire. we are told that the idea came to switch up that line of a
7:05 am
attack and send in a different group to go in and battle this blaze. the fire fighter got trapped inside. those details are not clear at this point in time. she was rushed to einstein hospital here where we are told that doctors did everything in their power to try to safe her but however he did pass. now commissioner sawyer did tell us that the fire commissioner here for the city of philadelphia, his goal was never to see a fire fighter die in the line of duty and obviously that happened this morning. lets go to some sound from him. >> we have suffered the loss of a female philadelphia fire fighter and we have not yet been able to note file nearby next akin. >> during the process of fighting this fire, basically this fire was very challenging by nature because of the location, they encountered some challenging during the
7:06 am
fire fight. so the first end chief withdrew the the company in order to reassess the nature of the conditions and put another company in the service. during the the process on we lost one of our fire fighters. >> reporter: as commissioner sawyer was trying to explain there its something called a chimney effect a surge of heat and smoke coming up and down as he mentioned this fire was in the basement. so again not releasing the identity or even much information about the fire fight her died in this fire except to say that she was with the force for 11 years. as soon as we get more information we will bring it to you mike an alex. >> just horrible. another big story this morning is this bad, bad weather, our third nor'easter of the winter. >> yes. >> it is third one. >> it is not even winter yet. >> shore is seeing the worst with flooding up and down the coast.
7:07 am
of course we have steve keeley live there. steve? >> reporter: good thing all this rain isn't snow and we have a guy outside on his bicycle in a nor'easter riding up the coast riding up this bridge here. he is leaving ocean city and going towards strathmere. he must to have get to work or he really likes his exercise because riding a bike up a bridge on a nice day is tough pedaling. so this guy is lucky that the rain has stopped at least in the the as hard but it is not pouring out anymore and that is why we're able to talk out here as clearly as we are with our lens. let's show you the next bridge. we were here an hour ago. the that is the bridge on the other side of that island between strathmere and sea isle city lead nothing to avalon. that bridge is shut down because of the road is flooded on both sides. you heard bob kelly talking about ocean drive it is landis avenue and dune drive-in avalon flooded on both sides of that bridge and that is why they shut that bridge down this bridge still opened and
7:08 am
we have a car coming over this bridge here. we were able to safely stop and pull over on this bridge and sue talks about the higher elevations. we are higher elevated here and that is why we thought this is a safe spot to be because bridge isn't moving and this is one dry bit of road that we have encountered all a morning today. a lot of people are still driving through the flooded roadways, along the shore and they figure it is safe to drive around here now because it is not quite high tides yesterday. let me give you my expertise from reporting here so much. do you see how these win blowing from the northeast are pushing these waves in here. when the last high tides was here it never went back out to sea because the waves had been pushing water in and keeping it in so high tides stayed in and stayed high and we will have another high tides on top of that. but flooding will be worse later this morning eight to 10:00 o'clock they expect it to be worse out here and that is why schools in ocean city shut down because that is time of the day that the kids are going to the school.

7:10 am
>> so the three people in the house were killed and three people on the jet, the small jet were also killed. investigators with the national transportation safety board has found the plane's black box. they plan to remain at the crash site for up to a week collecting evident. a couple of other houses were hit by pieces of the the plane. and happening today, a report detailing harsh interrogation tactics were set to be released. it covers the use of torture following the 9/11 terror attack. thinks first public account of the tactics and many u.s. officials say the document allegedes that the harsh interrogations failed to produce useful intelligence. comedian chris rog will be in town later today. writer, director and star of his new movie, top guys will learn how to make a classic philadelphia cheese stake from the experts at tony lukes and have a meet and grease with fans. rockies visiting his top five sit toys promote his new movie

7:13 am
cakes from cleveland and why lebron would be handing out cup cakes i'm not exactly sure but that is what he gave them in addition to the jersey. >> really. joel, run back inside. he is right outside "fox news" channel, like 5 feet out of the building. than the thanks, joel. meanwhile lebron james and other players made headlines during the warm ups by, making a social statement. >> james warmed up in a t third saying i can't breathe. kevin garnett also from the nets, was also spotted wearing the t. >> kyie irving also donned a shirt. >> images of or players have popped up on line. statement, of course, is in reference to eric garner captured on video saying i can't breathe several times during his confrontation with police in new york before his death in july. well, we will give you a quick update on that spacecraft, orion, we watched the launch. orion spacecraft has returned to dry land, well, it only had

off the ocean. some places gotten a break but rain is returning to delaware after dry hour or so. up in the mountains we will see snow falling lightly in mount pocono but it is expected to accumulate and where we see pink on i80 and part of i78 still we are seeing a change over to rain but still could be tricky traveling those roadways along garden state parkway especially galloway township we will see heavy rain this morning. here in philadelphia it has eased up but still raining this morning and it is all wind driven rain. by the time tomorrow is over bee could have four to 6 inches of snow in the mountains in the higher elevations, brief icy mix in the counties we have just showed you. we have 38 in the city. thirty-three mount pocono. thirty-six in trenton. forty in wilmington. forty-two atlantic city. whipped are a big issue, 22 miles an hour sustained here in the city, two # in wildwood and these win gusts
