to us. okay, so number one issue resolution; to get in shape. what would make me -- what would trigger me to not go to the gym, am i sabataging myself? >> it could be self sabatage. could be anything from work, stress at work, unpleasant conversation with your boss it, could be something at home in a relationship. anything or just pure laziness, i only set a resolution because it sounded good. >> right. >> what but if screw up like five days into january not going to the gym any more. should you say give up for the whole year? because a calendar is simply a calendar. >> right. great question. no i think it starts within not setting a resolution, but focusing on what it takes to set a good resolution. so looking into what i call the how. how dow go about setting a resolution? how about time lines. am i setting too much to trying to do things i know i'll never keep. >> losing 50 pounds. >> exactly. >> i know you say stay consistent. >> yes. >> so what exactly -- that's

the problem. >> yes. >> what exactly do you mean by that? >> that's probably the most common that you here, when people talk about resolutions what i specifically mean is take the minute to think when am i most productive. at what point do i seem to get the most done? write that down. try to repeat that behavior at that time every day. >> that's not a bad idea. >> so when you have energy, if you're going to go to the gym say after work, and already drained from the day that's probably not good time. then you set yourself to up fail. finds a time whether it is lunch or before go to work, something like that maybe. >> yes absolutely. >> okay, smarty pants. what -- what have you ever overcome? what's a resolution you stuck to? >> one of the resolutions, i tend to pick one more so replacing a habit not necessarily focusing on something negative. >> yes. >> so reading a book a week. >> do you that? >> yes. and i normally a.m. not one to folk thaws long on reading. i do. >> good one. >> another tip that i saw

that she says is celebrate the little baby steps that you. >> i yes, that's huge. celebrating the baby stems. makes it seem easier. right? so if you're looking at it in milestones, time lines, a lot of people forget to write down, you know, let know that at one week, one week, then reward yourself, get to reward yourself by those baby steps. >> patience then trying to -- >> yes. >> that's the hard part, isn't it? >> specially there are new studies out now it takes 66 days as opposed to the 21 that we've all heard to keep a habit. so keep the time line in mind. >> and surround yourself with people with the same resolution. >> or just have accountability tendencies. >> they'll support you instead of saying let's go out for hamburger. like i thought were you going to the gym mike? >> right. or talking about themselves. that tends to happen as well. so they stay objective. they ask you more questionsment and around why you might not want to fulfill your resolution any more. >> heather we like you.
