7:19 am
also on the pa turnpike westbound approaching downingtown, we have an accident, big story around the city don't forget about the delays and closures due to the mummers parade. broad street closed, take 12th or 13th and make sure to check your septa schedules too, a loft buses around center city will be running on a delay. >> caitlin, listen to. >> this let's get a tweet that says dawn, i have your earrings and coat from the party last night. >> oh! >> what was going on? you left your coat, it is freezing and no earring. >> and no earring. >> why no earring. >> well, it was a fun party. >> apparently. >> she let her hair down and took her earrings off. >> don't get any ideas. >> he probably -- >> it was a nice family party mike. >> it was? i'm not in bed my midnight, might as well go home. 7:19. someone in philadelphia starting off the new year very rich. check the numbers. >> yep a $1 million mega

7:32 am
that's a look at your foxcast we will check the roads this morning, still doing traffic even though holiday just to keep you aware of any issues out there. this is not an issue, 59 northbound at 420. so this is if you're headed south out of the city, no issues, there or headed north up from delaware but on 95 southbound, just past bridge street, little further north there is a disable vehicle. right lane block there. use caution. also don't forget because of the mummers day parade obviously broad street closed between jfk boulevard and washington avenue. you will have to take 12th or 13th street to get around that and finley make sure, some of the buses around center city will be running on delay. >> downtown the annual parade for new years day always fun. >> like she said, you're right, but new is it a route or a root? jenny joyce, you decide. >> i say root. >> i do too. >> you say root? >> do you say route?

>> i say root. >> i casino of go route. >> is that a kansas thing? >> no, more sophisticated. >> i don't think so. my root? >> i think -- >> route? >> i think route is correct. but i proof root. so, we're standing outside of city hall, with old of these beautiful accessories to the floats that we're seeing all lined up here along market street. between 15th and 16th street. believe it or not we are already seeing people also in the stands, too getting ready for this parade which will kick off at 10:00 this morning. and, mike, dawn, as you said, that is different parade this year. different parade route. they will head down broad street heading toward washington. but they are going to start at city hall this year. this is the reverse of what typically hams. the mummers will strut before the judges, in center city, and then head south on brought, finishing up in south philadelphia. also the parade route is a lot shorter only a third of the lent of the previous route, declining membership and soaring costs are seriously hurting the mummers, one sign
7:34 am
of that the oldest troop, the original trilby string band won't be strutting its stuff for the first time in a century, because of these tough times. we talk to people yesterday about some of the changes some aren't happy about the parade route going in reverse but the parks department says it just makes sense. >> we love to see the parade come back to south philly. nice in center city, south philly where we believe the parade should. >> a lot of people want to come to center city, more restaurants, more places that are open for coffee, and those types every things. so and the whole community of it in center city, 95% of the people come to center city to see it anyway. >> so, a live look now at the sand. you can see people are already getting their seat. we fill up two and a half hours to go before the parade actually start. this morning we were down on two street. we talked to a member of frog i, we asked him about the parade route changes taking it in stride, he said you know what we'll still have fun. great attitude to have, right? we'll have fun.
7:35 am
>> let's reveal some history we know about jenny joyce. didn't you grow up on two street yourself? >> i personally did not but my grandparent lived at second and tasker and my father lived there for the first three years of his life. so they were mummers, i found out. >> were you a mummer, jen? >> were you ever in the parade? >> okay, so i did a stint. i was a mummer one year when i was about 12 because my performing arts troop, we were invited to dance in the mummers parade. >> that's pretty cool. >> did i casual appearance one year. >> okay, i beg of you do you have video film, stills, any of this? >> i don't have video. no, i have pictures somewhere and i was not prepared this morning, i don't have them on me. but pictures exist if you ever want to get me in trouble or something. >> oh, of course i do. all right, jenny, thank you for that report from along the parade route. >> root.
7:36 am
>> everyone says root except for you. >> trying to be different. >> you don't have to try hard. >> you know, out in the country, you know, the mail carriers, a rural route? >> say that again fast? >> rural route? >> by the way there is just in, it is 2015. >> oh, wow. >> do you know what that means? it is not 2014 any more, what's it mean. it is the same year back to the future two. remember the movie back to the future? they showed this thing like a who have whoever board. they're making them now, and i saw one. do you want to see one? >> absolutely. >> i mean, it is for real, they made it, it is happening. >> amazing, we want to know what your new years resolution, tweet us with the #fox29goodday, and we will be reading some of them throughout the show. >> oh, that will be fun.

premise, they traveled 30 years into the future, so that would be 2015, remember this? >> you got to come back with me. >> where? >> back to the future. >> so, you know, they predicted what would be going on in 2015. so chris has been looking into this. what did the movie get right? what did they get wrong? >> interesting, smart phones, yes. >> i remember that. >> fast machines, not so much. >> kind of wrong right? >> well, nobody uses them much. >> look at that thing. >> so the movie predicted video, telephone calls and large screen home displace, right on point. skyping, five hours ahead to england, for their new years celebrations. >> that's cool. >> 7:00 our time. how about this? film predicted dominance every
7:41 am
fax machines in this proved of course, fax machines what we remember, big, relatively new in the late 80s so the movie really over estimated the importance of that thing. >> now have not progress dollars, such as, flying cars, and what about this device? whoever err board don't have enough anti-gravity to make this a reality. then this out. this is, well, as close to the hover board as we could finds. this is tony hawk the famous skateboarder testing out aver sean of the hoffer board. kind of cool. >> using air? >> casino every like air who can a little bit. so, there you have it, interesting with the fact machine. >> fun. >> i remember pager? >> ya. >> someone was really important if they had a pager back in the day. >> well, remember the first cell phones, they came in boxes? >> yes.
7:42 am
>> car at this around like a suitcase. >> exactly. and con not console of your car. >> in the car. the pager was always good as an excuse, though, could you reach down to your waistband your belt. >> like you got to go? >> you hit it and it start vibrating oh hold on a second, oh i got to go. >> what would you typically be be leaving? >> a bad date, mike? >> that's exactly right. >> look down at your belt a light? >> i was constantly vibrating. >> would you tell your friends hey page me at 9:00? >> oh, ya ya, in case it wasn't going well. >> and page by work, you wouldn't hear that one? battery dead. >> badly -- battery dead. >> chris, back to the future two was huge film, in 1989. >> did you seabird man? that's on film critic top ten list. >> made a love of top five littles.
7:43 am
in fact, number one bird man. let's go back, what was your favorite birds movie of this past year? >> look to go get in shape not to worry. quincy will help us keep that new years resolution, hey there. >> yes, we have to start off listen, i will be like bird man, these guys are american ninja warriors, they know thousand do all kinds of crazy stuff. but i'm going to jump in coming up next.
