tv   Good Day Philadelphia 7a  FOX  February 4, 2015 7:00am-9:01am EST

7:00 am
we're talking about coming up of the right now number? >> seven. >> look, getting in the 40's today, actually where we're supposed to be this time of year. that's good thing. now, still cold this morning, early february, supposed to be cold. bus stop buddy blanket, coat, mittens, temperatures in the teens and 20's, the good thing is we don't have the wind. we don't have the flurries any more, either, they've disappeared from ultimate doppler radar to be replaced by this sunday shine, gorgeous sunrise on the way, and it is official at 7:07. 28 degrees feels like 23. and we get to high of 45 degrees. we will see increasing clouds during the afternoon, getting ready for our clipper system tomorrow morning. but still we take that 45, even though it is a one day special, before cold air comes back. snow, starts after midnight tonight. we will break that clipper system down for you, and give you the seven day forecast coming up. bob kelly, i -- >> sale going on here like you do over there. >> one day special. >> 7:00, good morning, everybody, live look at i-95
7:01 am
southbound, jammo, out of the northeast, from cottman avenue in to girard. time to make the donuts. rush hour underway here, same deal on the ben franklin, starting to see some volume, pretty much doubled in the last ten, 15 minutes or so, but no major delays yet coming into center city. and here is a live look at the brake lights on 95. just got words from new jersey transit, all of the northeast corridor trains are running with delays before ten minutes, we blame it on the wet they are morning, and an accident, along route 55, this is in south jersey, as you head northbound, it is just passed the interchange for route 47. and then a crash on the new jersey turnpike, this morning, this is all southbound, between mt. laurel and the black horse pike, exits four and three. accident east on the pa turnpike, at philly bensalem. and standing by with the latest from the fire, but i can tell in you norristown, airy, chestnut, is the swede marshall, all block off with hundreds of firefighters from this overnight fire. you want to stay with elm or
7:02 am
main if you are trying get into or through norristown today. and septa has it four main bus routes that travel through norristown also on a detour this morning. mike, alex, back over to you. >> get right out to the scene. >> yes, because one person is dead following that stubborn early morning fire in norristown. >> if you live in norristown, probably drive by this building all the time, fairly famous, the norris building is what it is called, and it is destroyed. here's steve. >> you probably woke up from all of the alarm there is was four alarm err. that means probably about 150 fire vehicles in all here, and most of them still on the scene, than is our first live shot, with any daylight. we're just on one side the front of the building a little partially on the other side. you can see, the windows on the top floors open. you see those ladders, going up to those windows, and everywhere you see lad serve where they had a rescue people out of those upper floors. this is the front of the building, the fire escape, old historic building in the back of the building, where many of
7:03 am
the residents could not get to. turns out, one of the residents that was pulled out of here by the firefighters died later at the hospital. two others with just complete injuries, and one firefighter injuring his hand, bashing it through. one of the windows here, as well. here is fire chief tom o'donnell, talking about what they encountered in terms of get to go a building with lots of apartments, and lots of people inside, at 12:44 a.m. >> this fire, like i mention, was smoke, getting multiple reports of people trapped on all four levels. rescue stunt by inside by firefighters, outside the main aerial devices, crews had their hands full when they first got here. we think we have about 30 apartments in here. we did go through with the police with the help of the norristown police department and identified all resident are accounted for. >> our job is to save lives. >> here is lou it look when the first firetruck got here. because one of the first
7:04 am
firemen here driving one of these many ladder trucks, for all of the rescue, shot video with his phone, since he has to stay with the truck, he had a free hand to shoot video, they'll use this for training purposes, as well. and boy you can see, some of these flames and probably not even at the height of the flames, because after they got here, really start today spread, and that's why they started saying we need more manpower, we need moral larges sounded, every few minute, they would add alarm until they got to up four, then a lot of the volunteers throughout montgomery county, all like got out of bed, got in their vehicles and got to the firehouses as soon as possible. now, this same building caught fire in the 80s, this is before chief tom o'donnell even became firefighter in the norristown fire department. and one of the men who is 53 years old, just g out then, told me this was fatal fire. he remembers people jumping out of those windows, and dying, because this building was burning so bad. so it was rebuilt, re-done, it had modern sprinkler system in there, and chief tom o'donnell was explaining to me how it
7:05 am
gets around these voids, sprinklers are just supposed to, you know, maybe try to put out a fire on some contents. but can't keep a fire from spreading, and that's why this thing, who he believes thinks started in the trash, in the basement, where everybody's trash chute goes down into the basement where there is a big trash con pack tore, thinks it spread throughout all six stories of this building. then just last week to show you how quickly these fire fight kearse get here, the sprinklers when they get set off automatically by the smoke, they also call the fire department automatically so before anybody even had to get out every bed and call 911, the fire department was already on it way, and just last week, somebody burning food on the first floor set off a sprinkler. that will had the fire department out here just last week so shear they are again, this time, another fatal fire here in norristown, alex, mike. >> interesting. never new that about the sprinkler systems, automatically call the fire department. 7:05.
7:06 am
early morning accident in germantown sends one person to the hospital. happened on the 300 block every chelten avenue, around midnight. emergency crews responded to the scene of course, to finds a car in to a building. the unidentified victim is being treated at einstein hospital. fairly close by. >> learning more this morning about a police office here was hit by a car, and the police chase that followed in mercer county. >> so, jenny joyce went to the scene in hamilton, new jersey. hey, jenny. >> good morning, alex, mike, along the 1700 block every east state street in hamilton, where the crash, the chase it, all ended, and hearing that the suspect hit several parked cars, and if we look across the street here, we can definitely see that evidence. we see at least two here. we will keep going down the block, where you can see where the final crash ended. you can see right across the way there, into what looks like a volkswagon jetta taking live look here, we have police on scene, weaver hamilton police, as well as state
7:07 am
police. and we know that trenton police were at the initial scene where all of this started. according to police, earlier this morning, a man who was driving a vehicle side-swiped a police office here was standing outside of his cruiser at walnut and chestnut streets in trenton. the office her minor injuries, but is going to be okay. the driver gave chase, police followed. the chase ended nearby in the 1700 block of east state street in hamilton township. police say in the process, the driver, again, as we showed you, hit several parked cars, when the chase ended, police realize that the man had a gunshot wound to his body. they're having g to see when and where and how that injury happened. again, the officers is expected to be okay. we don't have a condition of the driver. we are wait to go talk to police while hamilton police and state police are on scene, we are told that we need to talk to both the prosecutor's office and trenton police, who are no longer at this location, so work to go get you all of the details taking live look here at the vehicle that crashed, that blue saab
7:08 am
across the way. mike, at ex? >> 7:07. up in trenton, hamilton. >> and after isis released a shocking video yesterday, the jordanian government has executed two prisoners. >> yep. in its response, the isis haneous videotape killing of a jordanian fighter pilot in this 22 minute video. the extremist group shows the hostage, there he is, in a cage they doused him with gasoline, burned him alive. >> president obama who met with jordan's king abdullah, the second, as this videotape was being released in the oval office with white house, the two of them met king abdul, a went back to a.m. and, orders erred the execution every those two isis members. here is the president. >> developing atlantic city, determination, on the part of coalition to make sure that
7:09 am
they are degraded and ultimately defeated. >> jordanian officials say the executed prisoners had ties to al quaida in iraq, which is morfhed into what they call isis, one of them suicide bomber failed suicide bomber, that isis had demanded be released in exchange for the jordanian pilot, but isis was not negotiating good fate, not that would you ever think they would, this burning al life of this pilot happened on january the third. he wasn't even alive during the negotiations for an exchange. >> the video just released yesterday. >> yes. >> well, 7:09. the search is on for nearly two dozen people missing following a plane crash in taiwan. fifty-eight people were on board, a trans asia airways plane, when it crashed. look at this dash cam video. death pole now up to 19 people. officials say, 15 people were rescued, with injuries, and that rescue is still going on this morning. so we will take live look now,
7:10 am
you can see, there is a plane, submerged in the water. this is in the key-long river. >> in the capitol of taiwan. >> you can see several rescue officials in the water, still believe there are people on or inside this plane here. there have been report earlier that one person was taken to the hospital, discharged, however, they've not said an official number of survivors whether it comes to this crash. but we do know that 58 people total were on board, 19 have died. >> as we just mentioned, it was caught on dashboard camera in somebody's truck, or car, could be police officer, look at that. you don't get more dramatic footage than that. my goodness. >> all right, weaver a crash back here in the united states to tell but. it happened last night on the morning commute. now the morning or the evening commute. now the morning commute in new york city a mess. >> yes, transportation officials are investigating this crash. it would involve a train and suv, that got caught on the
7:11 am
railroad tracks. >> yep, authorities say, the commuter train slammed into the suv, that was parked on the railroad tracks, this is about 20 miles north of new york city, in west chester county, the name of the town, about 600 people were on the train for the evening commute. they are normally packed as they go to up west chester and the state of connecticut. six passengers, and the driver of the suv, were killed. this is what they think happened. officials say the crash was so intense, that part of the rail line actually buckled, and started to melt. >> what i saw in that front train is something that i will never forget. it was completely charred, and burned, the thirds rail went completely through the entire front car of the train. it must have been an absolute horrific scene when that first happened. >> that third rail is to the side of the two other rales,
7:12 am
provided the power to the train. witnesses say the railroad crossing gates apparently came down on the woman, in the suv. , and she got out to look back at her vehicle, before she could get the suv moving again, she jumped back into the car. and tried to get the suv moving again. here comes along the train and smashes into her, killing her. >> well, clock 12, former secretary of state, and possible presidential candidate, hillary clinton, is weighing in on the measles vaccine conversation that has been happening. >> how did she do it? >> on twitter. >> she tweeted this yesterday. she said, quote, the science ask clear, the setter round. the sky is blue. vaccines work. let's protect all our kits, hashtag grandmothers know best. other hopefuls as you know chris christie answer senator rand paul have also take answer stand on this issue, so it is casino of turning into a debate between politicians here. >> well, rand paul and governor christie said that it should be a parent's choice, some choice should be involved, and they both
7:13 am
backtracked, and paul said he never said that in a way, they vaccinated their kids, he is vaccinated and they believe in vaccinations. so the vaccination discussion continues. >> yes. >> well, how about this? major role in the united kingdom. how about this? a major ruling is what i am trying to say of course. british lawmakers, now, get this, british lawmakers voting in favor after very controversial in vetro fertilization technique, that lets doctors genetically alter embryos. now, let's try to explain this. >> here is a interesting part. scientists will able to create embryos from the dna of three people. this is a stop mothers from passing on fatal genetic diseases to their babies, those in favor say prevents devastating diseases through minor cellular alteration, opponent say among other things it, will lead to so-called designer babies. the legislation now moves from the uk's house of commons, to the house of lourdes. if passed britain will become the worlds' first nation to
7:14 am
allow genetic modifications in human embryos. >> i opportunity get doctor mike to talk about this today. because how does it work? do you take two sperm cells, and put it into the snelling. >> they were saying possibly like the mother, the father, then maybe like sister, that way, all, you know, casino of relate in the way, but to help, you know, might have genetic disease to help with that. >> because sometimes we gave child who is a disease or cancer, you get, you know, some people bone marrow or something from a match in the family already. so why don't we jump ahead that far. >> so extension of stem cell research? >> all right, again, we need a doctor. >> detroit man getting little help from his neighbors after walking, you know, i don't know that i'm buying this story. he says he walks 21 miles every day to work, would that mean woe have to walk 21 miles blacks. >> yes, to and from work. >> he walks -- how long would it take to walk 42 miles? >> long time?
7:15 am
>> oh, no, has to be 21 miles rounds trip. you couldn't get any work done. has to be 21 miles round trip. okay. >> james robertson, car broke down five years ago, because buses don't run all the way to his factory job that forks dollars him to make the long commute on foot every single day. fortunately for robertson, local banker noticed him walking and eventually offered him a ride. and that ride turned to unlikely friendship. >> i was like aren't you the guy walking up and down the road? one day gave you a ride. >> you know, if i want add ride, you know, why snot? somebody shows you love, except. >> it has gotten very popular, a lot of people talking about there is now fun raising campaign has raised more than
7:16 am
$200,000, to buy him a new car. >> love it. >> robertson said he made this for new friend for work if he gets that new car. >> gets brand new ride, pick up the other guy. that's great. i know i worked with a guy in fort lee, new jersey, we had studio in fort lee, new jersey, nbc did, and he used to walk from queens, through manhattan, and into fort lee, new jersey, every day, and would walk home too. >> oh, my gosh. >> that's something. that's dedication. >> he's nuts. >> had to walk across the george washington bridge. >> really? >> yes. >> my gosh. >> he was in shape. >> not in that good a shape either. weirds. >> well, he had to buy a lot of shoes, for what he saved on bus fair. anyway, did you say $200,000? that could buys a tesla. >> he bought two ferrari's. >> i'm thinking wow, he will
7:17 am
be giving everybody rights rides. walking anywhere, even though it is not as bad as yesterday, still, a cold situation, 28 degrees if philadelphia, 25 in wrightstown, and 34 degrees, we finally end above freezing, in wildwood, new jersey, so, this is some mild air, ahead of our cold front that's coming through tomorrow. winds are relatively calm, out, there so not going to even show you the windchill map. it will be about the same as the temperature map. and here is ultimate doppler. we had weak disturbance come through, maybe few flurries, you might have seen, in the northern and western suburbs, so not showing you anything right now on ultimate doppler. we jump ahead with our north american model for tomorrow's clipper system, starts, seems like just through the morning news, starts on the fox 29 morning news at four. and then throughout the morning, we see, very light coating to maybe an inch of snow, move through the area, should be out of here actually by 10:00 a.m. and then, we'll have some sunshine, some colder air rush in after that for friday.
7:18 am
so, here are your potential snowfall totals from the storm. looks like half inch maybe in philadelphia, at the most, and close to inch north and west of the city. now, let's move ahead to sunday. as we see a stalled frontal system to our south. and the possibility of this low pressure system moving along that front, and this is monday morning, we could be getting some accumulating snow to the north of us. and some rain to the south of us. and we might have some minor ankle lakes cents inbetween, that's the very early call on a sunday night into monday morning storm. so, once again, these storms come during the morning rush hour, a thursday morning storm, the monday morning storm, and inbetween, we get some arctic air on friday, and back to mild air on saturday. so, another roller coaster ride, but luckily, we're with you, through it all. hand up in the air, bob kelly. >> definitely, tell you what, some folks would rather be on roller coaster than on the lincoln drive right nowment looking liver, skyfox over the scene of what i'm being told are many accidents here, on
7:19 am
the lincoln drive due ice. there is a look of two cars, of a number that are involved in a crash. remember, was it yesterday, the day before, that we had the lincoln drive closed, as all you can see there in the upper portion of your screen, though, the runoff from the hills and the rocks, caused a icy roadway, so we're getting word of an accident, and the possibility of a closure of the lincoln drive, coming our way, they got penndot truck on the way to the scene here, typically what they would do, just shut the road down, put down layer of salt, so, a temporary blockage possible in the next half hour there on the lincoln drive, as we look live, up from skyfox, so as you roll out of the driveway this morning, even though sue teased us with 45 degrees later on today, it has been in the teens, 20's, on the overnight. good morning to west chester, live look at route 202, right near high street, no problems at all coming up from delco, as you work your way into in toward malvern. coming in from south jersey the freeway looking good. but some volume popping here
7:20 am
between the black horse pike and the walt whitman bridge. all northeast corridor trains for new jersey transit running with ten minute delays this morning. the latest from norristown, again, with that four alarm fire, steve keeley mentioned it, hundreds of firefighters, just imagine all the hose that has to be rolled up before they can even get out of there, but airy, chestnut, swede and marshall in should down road, septa buses through norristown, also on detour. mike, alex, back to you. >> you always had this thing if i got out of the tv business, think it, i might go work for ups. because you know, you have a set thing, you got to get done. you know, a goal, you get it done by the end of the day, get to wear shorts, i kind of like the brown uniforms, but you know what? they're going to charge you extra to deliver the packages. >> what? >> yes. >> another charge? >> yes. >> oh! and the fight between robin williams' wife and his children, rages on, after his death. we're going to bring in lawyer to talk about the battle for his estate.
7:21 am
7:22 am
narrator: gas prices are down, helping middle class families. but now, the white house wants to impose title ii regulations on your internet meaning new government taxes and fees. every month: you'd pay more. 11 billion dollars a year in new taxes and fees. internet freedoms can be protected with the white house and congress working together, but imposing new tax increases through public utility style regulations will hurt middle class families let's protect the internet we love without regressive taxes and fees. no to title ii. others. now, americans everywhere are discovering that... spoon after spoon...
7:23 am
dish after dish... time, after time, after time again... deliciously creamy galbani ricotta inspires meals, and moments, that are simply better. mmm, galbani (sfx: kiss). italy's favorite cheese brand. now, america's number one ricotta.
7:24 am
>> i am going to have to get more tan legs if i'm going to wear that ups brown suit. >> i can come up to new york and show you my legs, if you want. >> i would love to see them. do you have work on your back, too, picking up the boxes using your legs, so you don't use your back. that should be ups class one. >> you don't work out, sneak. >> did i back in the reagan administration, anyway, lauren, ups is raising the rates watch area of their business? >> cost them three times as much to deliver. it is one way they can start to save money. they spend so much money over the holidays. they were expecting huge demands around christmas time. and while demand was big, not as big as expected. so they poured in half billion dollars to up their operations, and now they need to make that money back. >> i have a question. >> so what they said going forward -- go ahead.
7:25 am
>> why does it cost more to deliver? you deliver more packages to a business than would you a home? >> both reasons. >> you want to watch when offered erring something, from like a merchant on line, what the minimum order is to get free shipping f they even offer free shipping any more. >> any of the live carriers say okay, all saving money on gas right now, but we'll add surround charges. >> well, see, this is casino of upset to me. this is the reason why i like to use ups when i order on line, so it can come to my house, doesn't it defeat the purpose if i have to go somewhere? >> good point. >> the other thing, glad you say that, the other thing that ups is considering doing is dropping items off to like one location near where you might live, and then it, would be
7:26 am
cheaper for them, then you go to that location to pick up your item. >> so avenue idea, lauren. >> isn't that called the post office? >> now is the time. we create a business, once they do this, create a business, and we will deliver the packages, and then how do we make money because then just charginger. >> two hot women delivering packages? that's a business! >> and wear shorts, too. you're on. >> all right. >> well, see you again tomorrow. >> all right, have a good one. here we go. school before labor day. one district is thinking about doing it. uh-huh. cutting your smer short. well, in a way t wouldn't be any shorter, it is because labor day is coming so late. but would you want to have the kids go back to school before labor day?
7:27 am
7:28 am
7:29 am
>> before labor day, how the school is using feedback from parents to make their decision. >> well, do you wish you could undo accidental matches on twitter? >> yes. >> well, now you can. but it will come at a cost. we're talking about, not twitter, but continue err, the new tinder plus. >> i don't know what continued is her. >> i kind of do. and, governor chris christie, living the life of luxury? at least when it comes to travel. so he's getting a lit bit of
7:30 am
backlash, as he arrives home from the united kingdom. we'll talk about that in just a second. >> he's sure a traveling man. >> he gets around, both in the states now overseas. exactly 7:30 on the wednesday. >> yes, hump day, how could you forget? this is your day, mike. >> i don't even like saying it. >> you don't like it all right. >> i get it on the street now, sue. >> really? >> yes. >> so do you have wear a disguise when you walk out the door now. >> he can dress as a camel. >> or an ups man. by the way, did you like her idea, she will develop the hooters of home delivery, hot women delivering packages. >> interesting. that's not the way she put it, but -- >> yes, of course need to put a mike spin ton. >> well, we can figure out a way to make some money, i'll come along. meanwhile, bus stop buddy has to go to school whether his school starts before or after labor day this is it, time to wait for the bulls. now the sun is up. temperatures, though, are in the teens and 20's, they're not as cold as yesterday, but
7:31 am
it is still pretty coal. soap, nice blanket coat is a good idea. we've got seven out of ten today, we get back up into seasonable temperatures in the 40's, the flurries we had earlier, hardly even showing up on ultimate doppler radar. we had our sunrise at 7:07 officially. so now it is 28 degrees, seems balmy compared -- oh, there is plane ticket, bye. how is the trip? wind chills 23. foxcast has 45 degrees for a high today. and increasing clouds, after this morning's sunshine, then, some snow starting after midnight tonight. overnight lows, 29 degrees. there is your hump day forecast, let's see how folks are doing on the roads. >> bob kelly? >> good morning, sue. morning, everybody, looking live from skyfox over the scene of this accident on the lincoln drive. the crash is on the northbound side, two cars, and i just got word that penndot has closed all of the northbound lanes of the lincoln drive to not just clear the accident, but more
7:32 am
importantly, put down a layer of salt on the roadway. there is the two cars, again, on the northbound side, anyone who uses the lincoln drive, rough road to begin with, let alone throw some ice on top of there. so the brake lights headed south, coming from say germantown avenue heading down toward the schuylkill, right now, the southbound side is open. it is the northbound side where we have the ice, and that's most likely because if you look on the left-hand side of your screen there, that's where the water runoff came from the other day, and obviously it is that steep hill there on the rocks, located on the left side, which is the northbound lanes of the lincoln drive. so, traffic coming offer the schuylkill expressway, your best bet, would be to use the roosevelt boulevard, route one, as gee to the maps here. again, the schuylkill, going to be clocked in both directions, head to up route one, work your way over, wissahickon avenue. that will will put you back on to the lincoln drive. otherwise the ben franklin bridge starting to see some volume coming into downtown philly. no problems really on any of
7:33 am
the area bridges. south on 95, our normal morning rush hour jam, from approaching cottman avenue, in through girard avenue. it gets little tight there. at you are working through the construction zone, updating this situation in norristown, we'll have live update in a moment. but the four alarm fire from the overnight, airy, chestnut, swede marshall still closed traveling through or to norristown use elm or main today, septa has the four main bus routes through norristown on a detour. otherwise, if you are headed to the airport, good to go, mike, alex, back to you. >> 7:33. one person is dead following an apartment fire in norristown, it was a big one, too, firefighters work quickly to put the fast moving fire, went to up four alarms, to put it out. they still had hot spots about an hour ago. several residents are being assisted by the red cross, maybe as many as 30, in a temporary shelter at norristown but again, one person did lose their life in this fire. and a fiery crash between a commuter train and an s.u.v.
7:34 am
left seven people dead up in west chester county, new york. had about this, about 20 miles north of new york city proper. authority say the suv got caught on the tracks when the train slammed into it, six passengers and the driver were killed. transportation officials are on the scene right now, investigating exactly what happened. but several cars were filled with smoke. outwent see some unbelievable footage? here it is, just watch it. >> that's a jet airplane in the capital of taiwan. nineteen people are reported dead, 58 people on board the plane when it slammed into a river, just off the highway there. crews have rescued 15 people believe it or not, and 24 people are still miss being. wow. clock 34. >> whether it comes to the school calendar, if could you pick when your child has to start school what would you pick? one area, discussing starting
7:35 am
school, before labor day. >> i tell you, lauren johnson, twit is her alive with people. hey, wait a minute. we have been going back before labor day for years. >> i know, that's what we did in the south. >> well, yes. certainly all over the delaware valley, not big deal for people. but, for people who are not used to it, it is a surprise. >> because labor day are coming later this year, tough position because they have to decide when school starts. garn he will valley usually starts the tuesday after labor day there is year labor day falls on a seventh, which kind of late. now the district is debating should they resume classes before the holiday, well, the superintendent realizes that could jeopardize some of the last vacation that is some families may take right before school starts. >> from the educational side would you think about that because now with all of the state mandated testing, in april, we have our keystone exams in january, and may, try to get as many instructional
7:36 am
days as you can. >> he sent out survey, he's asking parent and teachers help me decide. well, parents are already talking. listen to what they are saying. >> i think they should start afterwards, that way you have the whole summer and finalize the whole summer with the labor day bash down the shore. >> my girls play aau baseball all year around, during the summer, so, generally that's my weekends, but he had something more important than my vacation and my trips. >> the school board will vote at the end of this month on next year ' calendar, which will include the start date. calendar has to be adopted this time every year. so mike, alex, i think it is considerate that the superintendent is asking for input instead of dropping the hammer like this is what we are doing, who cares about what your plans are. >> and doing it around this time when people are starting to plan and get that together. >> right. >> but i think probably little too late already. what is it, february? >> if you do it every year, then you probably already have the plans set in stone a lot earlier. >> but labor day comes different dates every year. so, like next year, it is september the fifth.
7:37 am
>> that will be back little earlier. >> so, if you want to do it before labor day, tell them now, you're going to do this to in 2016. >> normally what the last week of august? >> way too much planning. >> just till make it the last week of august, go back before labor day. >> a lot of people are saying they do. >> this levittown have gone back to school before lane or day for years. >> majority of school districts. >> suburbs choke that. >> just some people in the garnet valerie surprised to it. lick they like tradition, you know. >> thanks, lauren? we don't like change around here. 7:37. well, man, is this getting ugly. fight between robin william's wife, his third wife, and his children rages on now after his death. we'll take closer look at the battle for his estate. i thought it was all on pap

mostly calm, maybe 5 miles per hour or so. so here is ultimate doppler. we had disturbance move through little earlier, but nothing much came of it. we do have some light snow moving through up-state new york, but our clipper system arrives around 4:00 tomorrow. up north and west every us, up in allentown, berks county, and through the course of the morning, through about 6:00, 7:00. again, really bad timing for there is just enough to drop a coating maybe half inch every snow on the gown, but that could make things a little slippery for the morning commute tomorrow. so that's our clipper and cold air follows it. how much snow? well this particular mod sell showing half inch of snow, when all is said and done in philadelphia, not big deal, but again, bad timing. so the morning rush, on thursday, could be messy. then we jump ahead, sunday night into monday morning. and some of us could see accumulating snow with another storm, moving through, then. in the meantime, temperatures taking a roller coaster ride, 45 today. down to 32 tomorrow, plunging to 28 for high on friday.

is. vehicle also clipped an office here was standing outside of his car and then took off. the chase ended nearby in hamilton township after the driver smashed into several parked cars. police found he had a gunshot wounds to his body, and are investigating how that injury happened. the officer was hit, though, and is expected to be okay. >> that's good. >> 8:05. seven people were killed in almost dozen more injured after a commuter train smashed into an s.u.v., in new york. >> look at these cars filled with smoke. happened during last night's evening rush hour. about 45 minutes after the train left grand central station. heading newspaper connecticut. authorities say, the suv was stopped on the tracks, at a rail crossing, about 20 miles outside of new york city, in bahala new york up in west chester county, both the train and the vehicle went up in flames on impact. can you imagine? six passengers on the train died. and the woman who was driving the suv, that got stuck on the tracks, she's dead.
8:06 am
>> most importantly, you have seven people who started out today, to go about their business, and aren't going to be making it home tonight, and it is a painful reminder to all of us how precious life is. >> about 650 people were on the train, now the footage you're looking at there is not from last night. it is from back in 2013 when the same metro north train derailed on a saturday morning, could not negotiate a curve in the bronx. so, the train line has had some trouble over the yearsment metro north. 8:06. >> let's get to. >> this after isis released a shocking video yesterday, the jordanian government has executed two prisoners. >> quick reaction to this horrible video, lauren johnson. >> yes, awful, mike. prisoners executed before dawn today, officials say the two were hanged. it was in response to isis haneous videotape killing of a jordanian fighter pilot. the 22 minute video, extremist group shows the hostage being

retaliation for that horrible video later today. we'll wait and see. >> all right. well, 8:08. the new york times shines light on governor chris christie's love of luxury. >> what do you think of this report? now, again, new york times, according to the new york times, the governor has a long history of questionable trips paid for by billionaires. the article sites one trip in particular to ironically jordan which included two lavish parties at the king's home. now the king is very friendly with the united states, of course. they had great hotel rooms, had a private jet at his disposal, the whole weekends totaled $30,000. boy, i can't imagine it being that little. the times says governor christie took similar trips while us attorney, they were paid for by taxpayers, the christy's are currently, women, they just got back from a trade mission, hotel rooms where they were staying are
8:09 am
running about $600 per night, not shocking for london. so far governor christie has not addressed it article, because the article has just come out. we'll have to see if he even comments on t8:09. well, an ugly family feud, robin williams widow versus his own children. >> yes, why the late comedian's wife is taking the kids to court, even though he had a very specific will. >> and there is also new details by the christina being treat in a new facility, coming up more on her condition. plus, what we have learned about her marriage.

8:14 am
accident number one happened up near rittenhouse. accident number two, involving an overturned vehicle, is right at the lower end. traffic shutdown at the moment, penndot crew trying to get the salt. now, leaving, say, germantown avenue, and headed south, the southbound side, is open, at least for the moment. conshohocken curve here the schuylkill expressway, little delay between conshohocken and belmont coming in from new jersey, your normal delay on the freeway. working your way in toward philly. south 95, the big jam from cottman, into girard avenue. really nothing out of the orders area there. in south jersey, you're going to find little delay here on 295, as you work your way in toward the construction zone. and all northeast corridor trains for new jersey transit, wrong ten minute delays, the weather, really, hitting them hard. we still have the detours around that four alarm fire in norristown, this will be with us for most of the day, do you have an appointment or something going on at the montgomery county courthouse,
8:15 am
today, this is only a block away, so give yourself some extra time, there is certainly detours through norristown, for the remainder of the morning. mike, alex, back over to you. >> 8:15. >> as whitney houston's daughter fights for her life, family members may have their own battle brewing. >> yes, bobbi kristina's move to -- they've moved her to emory university hospital in atlanta from the place where she was before where they believe she'll get better treatment for her brain damage. but sources tell "tmz" her mother's relatives are arguing with her father's side of the family, bobby brown, over who has access to her in the hospital. a new bombshell from bobby brown's attorney, her dad, in a statement, he claims, bobbi kristina was never legally married to nick gordon. nick gordon, and a friends, found bobbi kristina unconscious in a bathtub in their home saturday, and nick gordon. core was adopted by whitney houston when he was about 12 years of age.
8:16 am
>> 8:15. the family of the late actor robin williams in a heated battle over his estate. >> yes, other celebrity families in a feud just like bobby brown, and whitney houston's family, when the star suddenly committed suicide six months ago, he left behind his three children from his two previous marriages, and a widow of less than three years, susan. so robin williams carefully outlined plans for his estate including trust for his family. but now, his children say his wife, his widow now, susan, is dishonoring his wishes. so jennifer brant, our attorney, what are they doing? >> well, it is a family feud. and we see this many times in regular families, not even celebrity families, where there is children from a first relationship or first relationship, and then a later sugarhouse who comes n here the dispute centers around two trusts, one of which leaves susan, the wife, the home, and the contents thereof.
8:17 am
>> one of his homes. >> one. the other trust for the children, loaves them his jewelry, his clothing, his memorabilia, so there is a dispute over were any of those items in susan's home. >> and you got to decide what's considered memorabilia. >> exactly. and i think that's what the dispute centers around. because robin williams apparently had a loft collectibles. and susan is saying they're basically mick knacks, small items, not really important, and the children are saying, this is memorabilia, these items are items that inspired him to create his movies, things to create his persona. so they deserve these ate. >> i am but here is the other thing, though, if she gets everything that's -- the house and in the house, that could technically be everything, jewelry, member or beil crashes because it is inside the house given to her. >> that's right. and that's where the dispute lies. that's why there is a judge involved now, who is going to make this decision. really, what should happen, is that these parties should sit
8:18 am
down together with their attorneys and try to work this out. each of them know what's important and what they really want out of this. don't want a judge making random decision. >> now, so the three kids would like to have some of the stuff that was important to their dad inside the house she got. >> that's right. >> but it is so particular, because they mention, you know, in the trust, he put jewelry goes to the kids. well, the wife is now saying but that excludes watches, watches isn't jewelry. getting down to the very last detail. >> that's what often hams in the family fueds. as clear as he tried to make it, you really can't contract around every single issue. maybe robin williams new his intent -- when he enters into these trusts, and when he drew up these trusts, but now they're left -- other people now left inter prep them. that's the problem. >> and the kids have not known this woman very long. >> that's right. it appeared prior to the death that they all have very good relationship and he was seen with the children and the wife
8:19 am
and it seemed like everybody got along. now that he's gone you see different side of up. >> what will have to happen? will have you to take every piece every jewelry, put in front of the judge and they negotiate who gets that watch, who gets that ring? >> no. i think what will happen if the judge is going to make some overriding decisions as to what would constitute jewelry, what susan gets, what the children get, i don't think they'll get down to the nitty-gritty of the items. i think they'll just be left with the judge's decision, this is what is yours, this is what's hers. >> unfortunately we see these kind of arguments a lot when celebrity die. what can you do? would you think the fact he was so specific and he said jewelry goes to this person, my home goes here. how detailed do you have to get? do you have to say this watch made by so-and-so and this color will now go to -- >> i would advise a client the same way. you really want it list out as specifically as possible who gets what. to avoid these types every disputes. even if you have to get down to the nitty-gritty. someone like robin williams
8:20 am
obviously had so many things. he probably had team of advisors, team of attorneys, who could really draft this up very specifically to avoid this type of dispute. >> i bet you have seen this stuff with non-celebrity families? >> absolutely, of course it all comes down to monday. >> i thank you. >> this little debate, too, we started it, late labor day, forcing a big debate now. should classes start before labor day, this year, because labor day comes on september the eighth. >> september the seventh. >> seventh, late into september, as far as labor day is concerned, why one local school district is considering, well, casino of cutting summer short. go to school before labor day. >> and we have to say happy birthday to facebook. it turns 11 today. what the social network is doing for you this morning, to celebrate. >> yes. eleven years ago today, our lives
