8:02 am
couple of days. we'll start off with a nice look outside. some show showers are moving across the state. this is an artic front that is going to bring us high temperatures and high winds and the worst of the cold monday morning. some of the showers making it into northern new jersey. those are some heavy snow showers near hairs iceberg as they drop visibility. winter weather advisory out for the whole area. that's 10:00 a.m. this morning, 7:00 a.m. sunday for accumulating snowfall and reduced wrist built. a high wind warning as we could see gusts to 60 miles an hour. a wind chill advisory, this is sunday night into monday, with the core of the cold and the wind is going to be where we expect the lowest values for the poconos, lancaster area and much of pennsylvania. lots to look forward to.
8:03 am
temperatures are mainly in the teams, 25 in philadelphia. it's cold, but it's not too terrible yet. 27 in million industry. winds are fairly calm. we don't expect them to increase until this front passes. first comes the snow, then comes the wind and following that is the bitter wind chills. right now is out of the south at 10 to 15 miles an hour. its a good ski day today, tomorrow will be very harsh. 17 in millville. fox futurecast, snow squall come through. that is a dark purple right over philadelphia. 2:00 in the afternoon. on and off snow showers and on of them can be heavy. especially into the evening. as you are heading out into your valentine's day plans, be careful. it's not a big snowstorm, but these are enough to make it treacher just. snow showers move out this evening. 35-degrees and into tonight after some periods of snow only 12 with the dangerous wind chills arriving sunday night. karen and bill.
8:04 am
>> thank you so much. at 8:03 we have a lot of news happening, breaking news from bucks unity that's where a police-involved shooting is currently under investigation. it happened just a short time ago during a traffic stop, about 6:00 this morning it was at a 7/eleven in morrisville. our sabina is getting to that scene. we'll have a live report coming from her in a matter of moments. taking a look at some other headlines. we know that a man is dead after a house fire in the kensington. a kerosene heater sparked the blaze. the smoke alarm inside the home was not working the 8:04. a philadelphia police officer was involved in a crash. this happened just around third and market streets in old city. nobody was injured. in our cover story this this morning there's excitement in the city of brotherly love. the democratic national committee announces it will
8:05 am
bring it's convention to philly next year and as soon the news was announced this week social media blew up. you can see a lot of those tweets and comments scrolling across the bottom of your screen. jodi wrote on twitter so excited philly was chosen for dmc2016 and matt said i think the democrats made a great choice putting the 2016 convention in filly and finally this tweet, philly final bet new york city at something. congrats to my beloved philly on beating dmc on 2016. what can we expect from the convention. renee a republican consultant she actually aend ted the rnc when it was in philly in 2000. they both joined us on skype. good morning to both of you. the ' great to see you. good morning. >> thanks for having us. >> absolutely. let's start with you. there's a lot of excitement about it coming here. we hear a lot about the economics. is this just economics? is it
8:06 am
political strategy? what's it going to mean? >> no. it ill be economic not only just philadelphia, but the region. south jersey is going to benefit from this. all the bushes, delaware, montgomery, chesser, it's a boom for the entire region. and i love talking regional but itself we're a strong region much we're not just a stop between new york and d.c. and we are important and i will tell you renee was very involved in 2000. i was a lot of her parties and i'm inviting her to mine. it's a time when the democrats, republicans from the area get together because we are the host. let's jump in with renee because we're talking about the economics. we're talking about the benefits. but from a political tan point as eleanor pointed out it was here in 2000 in the republicans. in that election, the republicans actually lost
8:07 am
pennsylvania. the last state the host state hasn't made that much of a difference. politically it going to have any impact. >> i think it definitely will. it's going to be a big deal and it will help us allot for the 2016 presidential election, so it's a good thing as far as i'm concerned. help us, the republicans. >> that's right. > how is this going to help the republicans? >> bottom line is people will see philadelphia, pennsylvania, what we do, how we doette and so we can give in our messages, wetting, like your folks tweet you, we can do all those things, use social media while folks are here. >> you are shaking your head. >> don't be shaking your head. >> i agree with renee on this. >> see. there will be a litany of press people, bill, from your world as there are delegates and guests to the convention. > exactly. >> because the world is watching this. i can tell you i've been at every convention since '92. the press comes from japan, germany, france, every where. we will be on the stage. and you know something, renee, i
8:08 am
thought about it last night, 2000 was clinton and bush, we may have another clinton bush. in 2016 let's do it. i did a lot at the rnc when it was in philadelphia. i did the roll call, the first time an african american had done that in our party. so i was really honored and pleased to be able to do these things. i had the largest exempt with over 2,000 people. we are going to be doing just as much as the democrats. we're going to have to wrap up there. bill let me gist tell you -- we're going have you you -- let me just tell you, it is from the 1948 convention. > always a pressure to see you. i look forward to doing it again. thank you so much. >> good luck on your show. > thank you. i want to know what you watch and think. are you excited about the dnc coming to philadelphia.
8:09 am
are you dreading it. do you have any advice for visitors. let us know. make sure you use the hashtag, fox 9 weekend. still to objection to the form you're active on facebook now, but what happens to your facebook after you pass away. how facebook plans to handle profiles after degradation. >> speaking of facebook, get on facebook right now. bill anderson, just use our hashtag, fox 9 weekend. this guy is totally out of control. you see him speeding down the highways and roads, sometimes against traffic. in a car cops say he stole. along the way he crashes into at least four other cars. at one point a car jacker holds a woman at gun point.
8:10 am
then he does the same thing to another woman. in the end, he crashes, gets out and the officers open fire striking the suspect and the caps take him into custody and this video i observe an extremely dangerous individual. behind the wheel of a car, he endangers the lives of an entire community based on his line particular, begun wielding behavior. car chases are a dangerous, dangerous function of police in america today. if he wasn't stopped, who knows what tragedies would have come after that much in the end, the police won. i'm
8:13 am
> this morning everyone, happy valentine's day and now a look at your interactive weather. again, looking outside it doesn't look that far, but as kate line tells us, look for sometimes this evening. we are welcoming you on a very cold, very snowy valentine's day weekend. and this is indoor type of weather, so you and your sweetheart maybe not a bad idea to cancel those plans later on tonight. i'm not telling you you should, but we will have some snow that will be coming down pretty heavily followed by the bitter cold. let's fast forward to monday morning. this is where we could see record snow in philadelphia. they're hard to come by, forecast lois 2 degrees which would break a previous record of february 16 of two degrees that
8:14 am
was setback in 1888. so it's a long standing one. we'll certainly give it a fare shot. that is when the worst of the cold will be over us. i'm not too warm. 13 in the poconos, 25 in pottsville. we'll briefly get above freezing here in philadelphia today. but this artic front that will bring all the wind and the cold will deliver some snow showers. you see the purple right over the philadelphia area. those are called heavy snow showers and in fact they can drop the visibility very quickly. fast coating onto the ground and that will cause very slippery travel. this evening while it is quick moving they could cause problems for you. as far as snowfall amounts, probably an inch or two in the city. higher amounts up in the mountains where you can see three to four inches. it's not the accumulations that we're most worried about, it's the impacts with this snow dropping the visibility april then the bitter cold to follow. so a little bit further south
8:15 am
into parts of jersey and delaware only looking at one to two inches, that's a little bit more north and west. winter weather advisory out that's tonight through tomorrow. also a high wind warning of gusts for 60 miles at times. a wind chill warning for the poconos and lancaster county. your fox cast for today. 35-degrees, periods of snow this afternoon which may be heavy at times. we clear out tonight, fallback to just 12-degrees. karen. >> thank you so much. news, weather is one of our big stories of course this is as well. police are looking for a man to tried to lure a 10 year old boy into a car as he was leaving school. it happened around 3:00 wednesday afternoon as school was letting out at bell haven middle school in linwood, new jersey. police say the man reportedly offered the boy a ride and said he knew his parents. the boy kept walking and when he went home he told his parents. other parents in the area now are terrified and they're on the look out. i think they need to be locked up if they can get caught, but
8:16 am
that's the problem. police say they've increased patrols around the school. the suspect was driving a white four door older model car, possibly a bmw. 8:16 police are investigating an accident overnight involving a car and a trolley. this one happened just after 3 this this morning at wes girard avenue in northern liberties. police say the driver of the car hit the trolley and then slammed into a few parked cars before speeding away. the driver could be seriously hurt. also pennsylvania's debt penalty is now on hold thanks to a new order by our new governor, governor tomorrow wolf issued this moratorium while he is waiting for a capital punishment report that's been in the works for four years. the state district attorney's association says it will likely take some legal action to try and reverse the governor's decision. i'm bruce gordon, the 2015

philadelphia auto show rolled out of town this week after a successful run marred by late controversy. the convention center's management claim dozens of the city's carpenter's union damaged cars on disreply. they actually got a temporary restrange order barring the carpenters from attempting the show. we saw a number of acts that we thought were unlawful. you may remember the carpenters were locked out last year after failing to meet a deadline to sign off on new work rules, in a statement the union says i was pierly exercising its first amendment rights to peacefully row test against this unfair lockout. and the union says there was no vandalism. my take, the carpenters were there to disrupt the show, to make things uncomfortable. it's new work rules were put in
8:18 am
complaints of philly shows were too costly to stage. most of the unions involved got the message, signed onto the new rules and went back to work. by most accounts things are better at the center, bookings are way up. the carpenters have been protesting for months outside the center. that's their right. convenient the public, it sends exactly the wrong message and makes it even less likely this long-time impasse will be resolved. instead of showing a willingness to play nice, the carpenter union has weakened their own position. only in philly. this morning we are introducing you to the newest familiar live our family, bill anderson, but who he is exactly. you can ask bill anything. just use our hashtag. we're taking a trip back in time to a candy shop doing the things the way he were done back when. what's your favorite candy as well. looking at this, folks, some

8:32 am
spreading her picks i dust every where we go to try encourage families, behind help along the way and just meet as many people as we can. julia left a trail of gloucester every where she went with her beautiful smile and her big blue eyes. she just encouraged people even when she was at her leakest or during her sickest moments. so i think this was an opportunity for us to go spread some of that picks i dust. as jennifer said and leave a trail of gloucester for julia and her legacy. i think i was walt disney who said it was kind of fun to do the impossible. i'm not sure he was talking about walking across the united states of america, but we are having a great time in trouble the impossible and attempting. we posted this story on our facebook page and i want to read you some of the comments we got. we got such an overwhelming

arnold palmer children's hospital in orlando. i pulled them together that day and i said guys this is either going to define us or defeat us as a family and told them i would rather be defined by it and let's focus again on those first three letters in cancer, the can message. what can we do as a family to help another family? or to help find a cure for cancer. so they were all on board and i told them, you know, i'd like to walk across the united states to accomplish that task. but, you know, i said you can stay in houston. you don't have to come. you can go back to l school. i can do this thing by myself. they all looked a the me very quickly and said we started this journey as a team and we're going to finish it as a team. our kids have been resilient. i'm inspired by my daughter certainly, but i am in by my three kids who just have terrific attitudes. they are encouraging everybody from coast to coast, adults,
8:35 am
kids. kids can and they're moving that message. you guys are setting that example. jonathan, jennifer thank you so much for sharing your story and your daughter's motivation and spirit with us. we are going to continue to follow your journey. when do you think you're going to arrive in orlando. >> it's probably going to be may or june. we had an original date, st. patrick's day which would have been julia's tent birthday. we are a little busy, but we're enjoying meeting people and going into hospitals and visit families that are hurting. that to us is a priority. we're keeping our eye on a goal of encouraging and not so much what our feet are doing. jennifer said we would have already been there if i had just stopped and asked for directions >> he doesn't believe in paper maps. real men don't do that. thank you for sharing your very special kind of love on this l vinylidene's day.

officer between his patrol car and the suspect's vehicle. the officer, of course, shouted for the suspect to stop. this is all according to the morrisville burrow police chief. when the suspect didn't stop, the officer opened fire, firing two shots into the suspect's vehicle again striking h him once in the chest. that's when the suspect took off. didn't get very far until he crashed off of the road. he was rushed to st. mary's hospital to their trauma unit. he is in surgery right now. again, this officer is okay. he what's thed for minor injuries. again, he's a veteran of the force, a corporal, the chief calls him a good officer. the chief of course got this call early this morning. his stomach just turned when he had heard that there had been an officer-involved shooting. but again the officer is all right, the suspect in critical condition and that they do know who the suspect is. they're not releasing his identity yet pending the notification of his relatives. the officer we're told is shaken

(vo) make the switch. look for jennie-o ground turkey at a store near you. > wall come back. this is the clown billion segment. you did say that. >> i did. mike was on so apparently it's
8:55 am

8:56 am
>> lauren is just happy she gets to sleep in. she didn't sleep in. she is up and watching. >> hi, lauren. >> that's a lot of fun stuffy always like on do that's why people should follow us on twitter, all of our names and then fox 29. you'll see the things you wouldn't get to see if you don't follow. are you going to keep tweeting out. >> not to you. caitlyn is one of the people that said look at the camera. >> i said get it away from me. >> i think it's fun. it is. as of last week i was the person who was sitting at home always watching this show. > you were. you were great about that. >> i wanted to know what was going on. i figured other people would, too. >> i'm much whatting our twitter feed right now. we have so many couples' pictures coming in. we want to keep them coming, hashtag fox 29 weekend. we have a lot coming up in the next hour. we have a controversy over the calendar. did you hear about this one.
8:57 am
why that for example a also calendar is raising so many eyebrows right now. we're continuing to get your song request. this is always and forever. that's the classic love song. it's perfect for valentine's day. thank you, gary for that request. keep them coming all throughout the show. just remember as always, tag it with hashtag fox 29 weekend
8:59 am
> this hour on fox 29 weekend little league shocker, the world champions stripped of their title accused of cheating, but are the kids really to blame or are their parents? what kind of message does this send? love is in the air for this valentine's day, but is it true love or just passion? what's the difference we break it all down. your news, your neighborhood,
9:00 am
life and interactive. this is fox 29 weekend. good morning, everyone it's 9:00 from old city philadelphia and happy valentine's day. thanks so much for joining us on fox 29 weekend. it's saturday, february 14, 2015. i'm bill anderson. it's so nice to have you here, i'm karen hepp and he is the new cohost of this show. it was so nice to have you here. let's do another hour. >> i think so. they told me i can stay. > we have this question about facebook, what happens to your page after you die? it's been an interesting question. now there is something that the social networking site is doing with your profile. plus a classic coming back to the big screen. this has so many people talking about it. the breakfast club. everybody remembers that. >> the breakfast club is back. also our weather is one of our top stories this morning because
9:01 am
it will be dangerousy told. we'll have massive wind gusts maybe even trees block knocking over power lines. do we have any warnings coming up, caitlyn. >> we have a whole bunch. vertebral artery dissections to you one. we have the snow, the cold and the wind coming at you. let's start off with the no. one of our viewers resourceful mom one, love that twitter handle wanting to know how much snow we'll get in upper bucks. you're probably close to the four of the two to four inches. that's where it's colder and expected to come down a little heavier. everything is fairly light in our area. these are just some snow flurries in the lehigh valley and yes moving into upper bucks right now. it's back towards harrisburg, western pa. that's some steadier snow that we like to call squall. they like to come down like a summertime storm. they like to come down heavy and
9:02 am
coat the roads quickly. winter weather advisory through the whole area that's today through 7:00 a.m. tomorrow. high winds warning for the whole area. that's later on tonight behind the snow showers those winds really pick up and could gust to 60-mile an hour. that's why we're a little bit concerned about some tree limbs down. winter weather advisory for most of the area. this is sunday into monday. this is the third wave, the winds with the bitter cold and that will become a wind chill warning with the poconos and lancaster county rifle some record temperatures. we should actually rise above freezing later on this afternoon. fairly calm winds today, those winds do not increase until later on tonight. but wind chills are still in the single digits to the teens i think tomorrow, sunday when we have the worst of the wind. that's when we will have wind chills mainly below deer on. one or two inches of snow expected for most of us for philadelphia. philadelphia and points northward much that ease two to four and that's from a variety
9:03 am
of these snow squall moving through this afternoon and this opening. 35-degrees with some periods of snow that could be heavy at times. the snow moves out tonight turning windy and cold. 12-degrees for the low temperature. there are some warmer days, but only slightly warmer. that's coming up in your seven day forecast still ahead. karen. >> all right. caitlyn. thank you so much. we do have this breaking news out of bucks county. that's where there has been a police-involved shooting that's been under investigation. let's check in with sabina buena live in false township. what's going on out there. let's take a live look out here on route 1. this is falls township. you can see investigators still on the scene here. the chief, in fact, was on the scene as well looking into exactly what led to all of this. just around the bend there is a suspect was driving before he hit a cement barrier and plowed onto a hill. that vehicle is still there as investigators continue to look into what happened. so it all started around 6:00 this morning in morrisville
9:04 am
bureau. that's when a police officer, a corporal notice that a vehicle was running in a parking lot of a 7/eleven. he thought it was suspicious so he ran the license plate. it turns out that vehicle was reported as stolen four days ago in bristol township. he then of course approached the suspect who appeared to be driving the vehicle. that suspect then reversed into the officer striking him, pinning him between the patrol car and the suspect's vehicle. the suspect -- the officer we're told shouted for the suspect to stop his car much the suspect didn't. so the chief says that the officer opened fire, firing two shots into the suspect's vehicle. he struck the suspect once in the chest. that suspect then took off headed down here southbound on bridge street and headed into false township here along route 1. that's when he chased his car of the officers got to the scene. they ared him. they rushed him to the hospital. he is now in critical condition
9:05 am
at saint maries in the trauma unit. we're told he entered surgery just a short time ago. the officer iso kate he had a minor arm injury. other than that, the chief is he a little bit shaken up that he had to disknowledge cha his weapon. other than that we have to report that he is all right. now, of course all of this wrapping into the cold weather. the chief as that the vehicle was left running with the keys and four days ago that's when the suspect allegedly stole the vehicle and then it led to all of this. a warning out there today from this officer-involved shooting from the police chief of morrisville saying this is just another warning don't let your car keeping running with the keys inside. that's excellent advise. not the same advise that's happening right now from the police philadelphia police department. they have a name for that. it's called a power of. do not leave your keys inside your car outside. we want to tell you something else that is cold weather related. a fire. it happened about 10:30 last
9:06 am
evening. investigators tell us a kerosene heater sparked that fire. police are investigating an accident overnight involving a car and a trolley. it happened just after 3:00 a.m. at west girard avenue and west lawrence street in northern liberties. the driver of the car hit the trolley and then slammed into a few parked cars before speeding off. the driver, in fact, may have been seriously hurt. our cover story this morning is the controversy over what happened with the little league world series, this year's champions have been stripped of their title after saying the jackie robin violated their rosters by having players who lived outside their bundries. should the players be bun issued for something that the grownups did. we have a lot of comments. jack writes in yawl had illegal players. rules are rules. when are weeing going to stop punishing the kids for the
9:07 am
coaches mistakes. those kids played some serious ball. we have dr. ross line pits on the psychological impact on all of this on these children and dr. karen weaver who is a professional of sports management at drexel university. dr. weaver, i'm going to begin with you, what do you make of this situation? are we seeing a lot of cheating when it comes to kids sports. >> i think what happens is the stakes get raised when you put something like this on television. everybody thinks they're good he in you have to make it to the world series. it's the adults that are conflating these rules, the kids played their heart out and i commend our drag once for the response they've had in this whole incident. > let's get right to the response. the decision by the little l league international will in no way affect the level of respect that we have for the jrw players on the field. they competed with discipline and class and played the game the right way.
9:08 am
off the field they carried themselves as gentlemen and represented their cities and their families well. they should be proud of their accomplishments. what happens to these kids now after they get a big asterisk after their name and their game saying we're taking away your title? >> i think we have to remember that this is actually a traumatic loss for these youngsters and there's so many emotions that they may be experiences such as resentment, depression anger embarrassment and also self of doubt and guilt. but we have to remind them they didn't do anything wrong. there is nothing they could have done to change the course of events. this will not define who they are now or in the future am we have to keep reminding of them and i think the dragons did a great job in starting that conversation so that healing can begin. dr. ruse if these were your children that just had their title stripped away what do you say to them. >> i would remind them how
9:09 am
capable they are. i would also teach them the live lesson that goes along with this. sports are important, but integrity, honesty and sportsmanship are even more important and also remembering that the choices that we make in life may not just impact us. they impact those around us. so while this is a painful live experience and it comes at a very high price hopefully it will remind everyone involved, adults included to be honest, up standing and fair in their dealings not just on the baseball field, but also in life. that's a very, very true statement. final words, dr. weaver. >> i just think people have to remember that playing sports in the youth league is about having fun and that should be the first priority for all of your kids. >> it's a good reminder right now. as we get our kids ready for baseball season and everything else. thank you so much for your time. we real aappreciate it. > what do you think about the situation involving the little l league world series, let us know
9:10 am
9:13 am
as usual, joining us by skype retama we have john park from 97.5 the fanatic riding solo today. how are you. >> so good. all star weekend is always a lot of fun watching everything happening up there. with the sixers we'll get to the dunk contest in a second. it's not what it used to be. are sickers fans going to be disappointed? >> i will be disappointed if they win too am games. they can really only do too much. they have 12 games right now. you see them we go competitive in almost every game. if they win too am games they're not going to get the good high draft pick. yeah, we want to see improvement, some win, but only some wins because they can't win too many because this is a rebuilding process.
9:14 am
i like what i'm seeing out of the sixes at the midway point just don't win too am games. can't i rewind the tape, isn't that what we were doing last year and maybe the year before, rebuilding? >> i can't stay in this treading water. we're waiting not too win too many. we want a draft pick. we want a draft pick? come on. >> i agree and i think you're right. the way that the sixes have tried to build this is is it's going to take a couple of years. it's depressing to think that this team isn't going to make the playoffs until 2017. they're not really going to be contending until where we can be hey, maybe the sixers can win a championship. if you're patient, it might work. weir not looking for a playoff team, we're looking for a championship. maybe that's why people like college ball and march madness. let's talk about the slam dunk
9:15 am
contest. >> it really isn't fun anymore, but once upon a time when i was a child growing up and i was a teen acre, i couldn't wait far the dunk contest. because i don't really know who is in the dunk contest tonight i want to go over my favorite dunkers of all time. >> the first nba all star game or dunk contest was 1984 and this gentleman right here, six six university of massachusetts, dr. jay, julius irving, he didn't even win it, but he had this dunk from the foul line. is there anybody better than dr. j? there is an older doctor j. >> i don't think on. he lived in villanova. the body movement through the air, it's art's comes in for that dunk. >> s what the originator which led to two years later a guy who wasn't six foot six, spud web, look at that picture, look at
9:16 am
the elevation. karen, i'm five foot eight. i'm listed at five foot ten, but really i'm listed as five foot eight and a half. that's an amazing dunk. he won. it led to this moment in chicago in 1988. you talk about j, but what would the dunking be without michael jordan. from the fall line, bring the ball back, put the tongue out and justified through the air. that's slam dunk basketball to me. karen, i got to give like a younger viewer that's out there and maybe doesn't remember this, vince carter. he might be the best dunker of all time and this was in 2000 and he used to dunk like this in games, but talk about a guy that was just graceful and could just float up in the air and kind of stay there. vince carter wins it in 2000. who is going to win it tonight; i have no idea because i'm not paying attention, but slam dunking isn't what it used to
9:17 am
be. i liked the memory lane, it was so much fun. there was a reason why we bought so many michael jordan sneakers. valentine's day to you. >> valentine's day to you as well. keep sending us your sweetheart selfies and we will put them out on tv. i'm jeff cole, it's time for fox unfiltered where we respond to your comments and complaints right here on the air. i'm standing here with bob kelly. you are the dean of traffic reporters in the city. >> thanks, yes. you do a great job. you get kids to school, people to work on time. we do it all day on time. crossing guards help our kids. >> they help kids get across. > do you really love them, marty doesn't think so. >> curb your snide remarks about crossing guards doing their little shifts and then going
9:18 am
home for naps. >> thank you. he appreciate you every morning. >> i'll see you this afternoon. thanks for keeping me save. all right, alex. now we go home april take a nap. you're darn right. marty wasn't done, i would like you to go stand outside on a corner for an and a half three times per day for 12-degree weather. marty has a point. come on, marty, i loved the crossing guards. when i worked the mornings and the afternoon shifts i took a nap during the day, too. i could go for a nap right you month. it won't happen again. next up, some of our most loyal viewers follow us on facebook, 500,000 strong. we thank you. so industry teach i is upset that our good day gang seems to care more about twitter. industry inch i isn't happy with anything writing i've been a true viewer over the years. i even gotcha lights. other viewers agree. they always knock facebook. we on facebook are the true fans.
9:19 am
janet they may want to remove that hypocritical cover from the cover page. ouch, janet we are not hypocrites. i'm here with miss alice. you guys seem to like twitter. i must admit during the show it can be easier because it's faster. but i'm on facebook and instagram. i just find it easier to start on instagram, tag it onto twitter and eventually it ends up on facebook, but i'm on facebook, you're on facebook. we haven't abandoned facebook. how about this in we will say that we're going to try harder to check our facebook, but send us a comment. that's easier to check than facebook messages. >> true. wow. great. did you see that on jeff like bruce gordon getting results. hole oh, bruce. >> hello, jeff. >> see that, i just got some results. proud of you, big guy, real proud of you. do you know that we had a complaint about one of your stories? >> what's the problem.
9:20 am
>> i saw your story, bruce you did a great job explaining how philadelphia was starting a new tourist campaign using the term john. there's no john like home. viewers were shocked that you didn't know what it meant. is fox really doing an entire story on what john means? lol? superb wrote you all ratchet for making this a segment. e wrote you got to get with a man, john means person, place or idea. what do you have to say for yourself bruce. i admit it up front, i'm the least hip guy up front, but in my deivi quoted the urban dictionary definition and. i got to tell you i find it kind of amusing that those who do use the word it can mean a person, a place, a thing. somehow the billboard found the one way that it was incorrect. go figure. i submit to you charley's facebook e-mail, not english,
9:21 am
not any language wage. way to go nutter. and that's it for this pretty juan segment of fox untillerred. did i use it right. >> i don't think so, but i'm still not sure. we hope to hear from you next. we'll take on your comments next time. i'm jeff cole. some of your social media comments are up on this big jaun right here. mary says it's starting to flurry in spring town upper bucks county. bring on the stuff. snow days, fun day. seaside yes. look at that. that's a proposal. congratulations to jennifer. i love getting the pictures of the love. puppies, basically you got a lot of people who are up enjoying the snow. there's more love. we appreciate it, folks. keep them coming. this is one of our favorite songs. how suite it is. it is so sweet when you swear and have this conversation with us. this is james tailor. thank you catherine for sending in this request.

9:26 am
plan that you get to pick a facebook air. so somebody can mess with your page after you die. a lot of people asked for this after they had a loved one die. facebook is now letting people pick a legacy contact much that's what they're calling it who can take control of your account. it's in facebook settings. if you want on go into security options you can pick a trusted family member or maybe a close friend and they can make one last pose on your behalf after you're actually past. they can also manage your friend request and they can update the cover photo and archive some of the content. here's something they can't do, they can't download your private messages and get into all all of your secret things. they can't alter posts that you've already written in the past. in the past they were just frozen. i think this is interesting. would you do it. >> i would do it. actually and tragically i've had people who have pasted in the past. a lot of times people go to the
9:27 am
facebook page looking for information or they want to post one last tribute to the family. having it at least updated so people have a chance to express how they feel, i think it's a good thing. it's a way to memorialize the people. a the lot of you you wrote in, this is some of the facebook comments. facebook has become an electronic tombstone. interesting. and then jennifer says i'm going to send farm billion requests every day from beyond the grave and square people. >> that would be absolutely horrifying. we find something in everything, i guess. i think it's a good thing and hopefully people will get a chance to express themselves one final type. good job, facebook. listen to this, good morning i'm dr. mike. do you want to get your kids in school to eat more fruits and veggies? well, new science indicates that if you actually have them take recess before lunch they will increase their

fruit and vegetable intake at lunch by 54 percent. come on schools, let's get that recess before lunch for all our kids. if you sit at a desk all day long, it not only can give you a big old butt, but it can increase your risk of stroke and heart attack. katie my nutritionist, what do you about it. >> i have a tanning workstation so i can stand throughout the day and be more active. there you go. make sure you get up, move around. in a very interesting study, myself that had low vitamin a levels actually had an increased risk of type 2 diabetes? why it had to do with the cells in the pancreas that make insulin. there may come a time when we tell all our patients to take vitamin a and make sure they keep their diabetes in check. i'm dr. mike, have a great

> it's time now to let it rip. it's a segment we do every sat here on fox 29 weekend. here's how it works. we tackle three big stories of the week, share your comments and our guest has 30 seconds to react. joining us you now on skype is solomon jones. he's a morning host at 9:00 a.m. wurd. good morning, sir, always a
9:32 am
pleasure. >> good morning, bill. how are you? good good. >> let's get right to it. first up there's a lot of questions surrounding the shooting debt of three muslim students near the apartment complex university of north carolina at came hill it happened on tuesday. an. the victims were a newly wednesday couple and the bride's younger sister. the families say the gunman had threat threatened the victims before and they believe the shootings were a hate crime. this was all over social media. the hashtag marion wrote, to be truthful the motive for a triple murder isomerely academic. hashtag chapel hill shooting. it's equally tragic and i moral no matter why it was committed. this was from has thank it's three americans. it's not a religious issue. it's just a killing. okay, solomon let it rip.
9:33 am
>> a 46 year old man killed three college students. they claim his wife who was flanged by lawyers it seems hours after this thing happened claims that it was all over a parking space. i'm not buying it. one of the victims told a family member prior to this that this particular neighbor didn't like them how they looked and what they represented. when people tweet it's not a religious matter, it's not a racial number, if you know that tell me the number so i can hit the number so you can red mine. i think it's a religious matter. i think it's a hate crime. authorities think it's worthy of the investigation. they must think there's more to it. next up, we keep it going to local sports. again, the eagles are facing a lot of criticism for their team calendar. the eagles say they're not responsible for riley cooper being picked as the feature photo for february, which of course is plaque history month i was almost two years ago that a video surfaced online of cooper hurling around the n word at a
9:34 am
security guard during a concert. the team says they do not oversee the production of the calendar or provide input about where the players appear. so essentially a in football terms they're punting. a lot of people reacting to this on twitter. i'm the going to lie, the riley cooper thing makes me question my allegiance to the eagles. is everyone mad because riley cooper said that or are they upset that the only white guy on the team got black history month? what do you think. >> i've been upset since they kept reilly cooper over die shawn jackson. let's face it, did i shawn jackeen one of the best players. riley cooper goes to a country conser at the link, threes around the n word, they give him a slap on the wrist. get rid of deshawn jackson and keep riley cooper. yes, they're responsible. i am an eagles fan, too, i have
9:35 am
a problem with it they needed to get rid of riley cooper that way he wouldn't be on the plaque list try month calendar. there's only 12 months in the year, how did hen up as one of your top players. discussion for another day. our final topic, beyonce is getting a bad rap for her performance at the grammy, you about it's not about the way she sounded, she performed precious lord take my hand. the song of course is on the sell ma soundtrack but it's performed by another singer who actually played sabina thelma. she wasn't asked to perform at the grammies. michelle writes, beyonce is a completenessest so step over anyone to get what she wants. legacy was stripped of getting more exposure. i did find her performance of precious lord quite interesting. i thought she was allowed to perform it because of her star
9:36 am
power. solomon, what do you think? >> i think beyonce stepped all over lead situate, i think lead situate should have had the opportunity to sing the sink. beyonce asked to sing the song. she preempted lead situate any chance to do this at all. it's all about beyonce, with her sinking a gospel song as posed to her usual booty shaking fare, it bothers me from a spiritual standpoint. beyonce did this. it's not a surprise. she stepped over the people in destiny's child, too. lead situate showing her class, she said it's all about empowering each other. she was disappointed. >> good thing for lead situate. i look forward to doing this more. as i get adjusted we'll talk a little bit. you can catch solomon monday through friday of course on 9:00 a.m. wurd host of the
9:37 am
morning show from 7:00 a.m. to 10 a. we'll talk to you again next week. >> all right, bill, take care. > you are doing great. don't you forget about this hang right here how about the breakfast club. do you remember this movie? >> it is coming back and it will be out on the big screen. we will tell you where. > more love songs. >> this one is just the way you are by bruno mars. it was requested by lauren. keep sending them. we love the love music use the hashtag fox 29 weekend.
9:40 am
> and what's trending right now? brief it or not it's the breakfast club because it's coming back to the big screen. complete 80s flashback on this one. the breakfast club returning to theaters for two days in march. this is the interesting thing. remember the simple minds, don't you forget about me. it's 30 years since it came out in february of 1985. these were these five kids, nothing in common was the big tag line but each other saturday and they made history serving that saturday detention with each other. don't you forget about the brain, the athlete's basket case, the princess and the criminal. it has been remastered with all of those type cast personalities. it was directed by the now late young whose and starred i meal
9:41 am
ohio evidence advice. anthony michael hall, jude nelson anal i she had did i. i'm more excited about this one on twitter. what are people writing in. >> mel wrote the breakfast club is so amazing. whys hasn't everyone seen it. >> i think everyone has seen it. you need to see it, it's iconic. this comment comes from jackie, even though i've seen it a thousand times i'll have to go see it in the theater again. it's in our area, it opens march 26 and we'll play the at the riverview theater on columbus boulevard in king of precious and several other theaters. a fun fact, i actually had that movie on, remember movie discs? my parents had a movie disk. the big -- it looks like a record would slide out. what did they call that? >> i was two things. it was either going to beta -- it was when they were big. >> they looked like records.

9:43 am
denise says she loves our weekend crew. hey solomon, he's still in love after all of these years. we love our chock lates. me and my girls are getting married. nicely done. and the love music continues with that theme now plage. look after you buy the fray. that one was requested by stephanie. she said that's the song for her and her love rocco. keep them coming. good song requests. we love them all. tweet them all, send them to us use the hashtag
