>> hello. ♪ >> this just in, senator menendez is under fire again but this time it is serious. filing corruption charges against him. this is part of an investigation over the past two years. he came out and denied any wrongdoing having to do with whether or not he pushed the business interest of the florida eye dr. pushing his business interest in exchange for gifts. right now we are joined by republican strategist jeanette hoffman. >> this is actually a pretty big bombshell. we have been hearing about allegations for a couple of years now. he has been under investigation and has continually denied the allegations.

with the attorney general agreeing to file charges for criminal corruption that is a whole new world we are looking at command we need to take a a step back and see what comes forward and see what the senators responses. >> this is not the 1st scandal he has faced. do you do you think this will be the nail in his coffin? >> these are very serious allegations, not rumor or innuendo. this is the us government bringing federal corruption charges. >> there is a lot they're. his family apparently funded various campaigns to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. we have to remember al capone was in prison on tax evasion charges. allegations go back since 2006.
