> welcome back. we're going to take a look at your interactive weather at 8:12 on this president obama sunday morning and it looks like absolutely gorgeous outside and we have a lot of sunday, but the temperatures, caitlyn. the temperatures are brought all and anybody who was out late last night it was so cold. it was windy. it felt like the middle of winner and you would not know it was late march. it felt like the middle l of march. this tweet from sunny. is this normal for the beginning of spring? i want to get outside with my baby. there's a picture with her adorable baby, too. i totally understand. thinks the time of year we're so dying to break outside. thinks not normal. usually we see high temperatures in the upper 50s for late march, early april. we should get there, though, by tomorrow. it will feel not nearly as cold.
8:13 am
we'll have nothing but sunshine today. futurecast shows clear skies early. we ' have some clouds increase later. we'll see some clouds role in by early mourn and even some showers. you don't have to go too far before there's a bit of a mix and even some snow showers up in the lehigh valley and the poconos. by tuesday the rain returns again. here we are stopping the clock on noon on tuesday. it looks pretty similar for tuesday. rain for philadelphia. but this rain looks to stick around for more of an all day thing on tuesday p. and that looks like a chilly gray, very rainy type of afternoon. not too great, but we're at least seeing our temperatures in the up swing. we're a couple of days in that seven-day forecast. sunny and chilly, 45, showers monday, rain likely tuesday, 49. we clear out we see a beautiful
8:14 am
wednesday, first day of april. 55-degrees. temperatures sore into the 60s thursday and friday. there's even a chance of a thunderstorm before we turn colder by saturday easter weekend, even a chance for snow there. we'll have much more on that through the week ahead. > our cover story this morning is one making national headlines it's a battle over religious freedom in the state of indiana. it allows users. it comes after some christians have been sued or fined after refusing service to gay couples who were getting married. thousands of people have gathered outside the statehouse in indianapolis saturday to protest the law. opponents say the law is a blatant form of discrimination, but the state's governor says he disagrees. if i thought it was about discrimination i would have vetoed it. in fact, it doesn't even apply to disputes between private individuals unless government action is involved.
8:15 am
this bill is getting slammed on social media with the hashtag boy cot indiana. george of star tech hashed join me, show governor pens we won't stand for bigotry in the name of religion. you don't get decide who can sit at the lunch counter. there was also this tweet, it seems to me the main goal of hashtag boy cot indiana is to hate on christians. nobody wants to discuss other religions that the law protects. joining us to discuss the law this morning, document giordano from talk radio 1210 and by skype malcolm from the equality forum. document, let's start with you. you heard some of the comments from social media. a lot of people saying this is blatant discrimination, but should businesses have the right to determine who they serve. >> i think they should have the
8:16 am
right, i like the tweet a lot that says boy cot indiana. that's what this is about. it's about free expression and some people have a problem participating, i don't, in same sex marriages of the the bill also allows people that don't want to provide birth control to be able to do that. i think it's been grossly mischaracterized. i think 19er states have this. bill clinton signed a similar to this. it's not going to allow people to discriminate against gay people. it sounds like you have a problem with someone's lifestyle or choices you can deny them services. >> i think this has been mischaracterized as religious liberty. in our country we have the right privately to make those decisions for ourselves.
8:17 am
what really this is all about is how conduct ourselves in the public sphere, so once -- and you have a business, you have an obligation to treat everyone equally and you can't start to make decisions based upon anyone's personal religious criteria. you don't like african americans, you don't like women, you don't like muslims, you don't like gays to denies of s. and that's really what this is all about. everybody has the right to practice whatever religion they want, whatever religion they choose can have whatever religious doctrine. but once youener into the public sphere, this is what keeps america america. that is, you know, respecting everybody as an individual when you're in the public space. dom and you've heard that argument. people have said once you open this can of worms how far can it go? can you deny ethnicity? can you deny other religions
8:18 am
basically because of what you say is your religious preference? no, you can't and i think malcolm mischaracterizes, as much admiration i have for him, n it's not going to happen that way. what's going to happen, anybody that would do this, say in the philadelphia area that, ' where we are. the marketplace will drive those people out of business. there will be just an unbelievable amount of media coverage. you guys will do it. i will do it. they won't be able to survive and i would ask this, why would people want to go to these christians bakers, florists, whatever, and force them to participate in something that people think is sinful. it is just providing services to people, not discriminating against. isn't there a zone of freedom? we're not talking about privileged people. we're not talking about something that is bigotry to plaque people. we're talking about people that
8:19 am
believe this is the simple behavior to participate in a same sex wedding there is boy cot in indiana. a loft businesses coming out and say we just won't do business with you. is that the same way to fight this and keep the courts out of it? i think what is interesting, even this law as opposed by the indiana chamber of commerce. i think people understand that once you put just out there as a public business, once you open yourself up, you can't start to make criteria as to who you are going to serve or who you're not going to serve because you're jewish you're not going to serve christian, because you're catholic you're not going to serve somebody protestant. thinks an example of exactly the reason in our constitution we have the nature of the religious freedom that we do so we don't have what i would call taliban
8:20 am
religion where every religion now can start to determine who in the public sphere they're going to keep out. we saw that in nazi germany and while certainly -- and by the way, this he can woo we even saw an initiative in california where some folks wanted to literally murder people simply because they're gay. this is not what america is all about. america is about tolerance. i certainly dom and i both agree in terms of the tolerance that our constitution provides and really it's the glue which keeps this nation together. once we start to craft out exceptions for this person or that, it really opens the door for a much broader array of discrimination and that's why literally all americans should be very concerned about this type of initiative as we've seen in indiana. we've got to leave it there. a lot of social media is buzzing
8:21 am
about this. let us know what you think. tweet, leave your facebook messages. use the hashtag, fox 29 weekend and we appreciate all the comments from our guests. gentlemen, thank you. how about h miracle in central pennsylvania. it happened in a, pennsylvaniaing lot. coming up, meet the baby who just couldn't wait to greet the world. born outside of a convenience store. and we love your pictures that you've been sending to us this morning. already using our hashtag fox 29 weekend. some of your easter bunny pictures, old and new. this is a good back in the day one. this is his family easter photo. would you look at his expression. we also love your pets. tamara we love this one,w??ççóoç

8:29 am
let's see some of the runners who have grabbed their sneakers and laced up. we have 0,000 folks pounding the city. the second year for this event. it's the love run and we love this because all of those runners when they signed up, the money is going to help our kids in the philadelphia schools. great job runners, great morning for a big event today. they are running 13 miles into this half marathon, caitlyn. 13 miles in this cold, temperatures are in thes to. wind chills are in the teens. thank you to all of them who do participate for such a good cause. it is tough to be outside and there's plenty of other races, including the ocean drive marathon in cape may county. jumping ahead, dana did he bell as one of our fateful followers want toes know what is the weather for easter. >> we're going to see some warmer weather this week, but then by easter sunday it can
8:30 am
cold again again. the way this winter has been i wouldn't rule it out just considering it's been so cold and we even saw some flurries yesterday. temperatures this morning, not showing up right now, but mainly in the 20s. we've had winds out of the northwest, about 15 to 20 miles an hour and that has kept wind chills in the single digits for the mountains. it feels like 4 in mount pocono. 15 in pots to your knowledge, 18 in philadelphia. these are the wind chills feeling like it's in the teens in south jersey and delaware. so with that breeze it feels even colder. winds won't be as gusty as they were yesterday, but itself it's still a pretty brisk afternoon. that being said we have a beautiful looking day. a nice finish after a cold start. still pretty chilly, though. 34-degrees today, clouds on the increase, we'll get some warmer weather and also some showers with it. all of that still ahead in your seven-day forecast. in your news now, thousands of people in singapore lined a nine-mile route this morning to witness an elaborate funeral prosession. they're paying their respect to
8:31 am
long time leader lee guaifenesin use. they are attending the funeral, including former us president bill clinton. at it people are in the hospital following that accident. you can see the problem right there. the train slammed into that car. it is as bad as it look looks. this is right near the university of south california. slamming into that car at about 11 on saturday morning. the driver didn't see the train and tried to make a left turn across the tracks and got caught there. the driver of that car is in extremely critical condition. the train's operator is also in serious condition, but his health overnight has improved. there's a couple from pennsylvania. there's some state troopers that helped them welcome in their little baby because their baby would not wait. so one of the troopers had just gotten off of his h shift when he saw a disabled carrot side of the road. right near harrisburg and he investigates and he says what he's wrong. there's a woman in labor.
8:32 am
the second trooper responds and together they tried to get the mom miranda annedidae eaton to the hospital, but the new baby girl she only made it to the gas station before a 7-pound 13-ounce air bell a came into the world. it was three pushes and she was out. i cleared the airways with my fingers and started to rub the chest and the baby started on crying. we pretty much say he's the hero for her. look at that with the state trooper thing on the little baby. so cute air bell a. he eventually did make it to the hospital. look at the little patch. this is the best baby story. the baby is doing just fine. what are you playing? that's my phone plage. that was a perfect transition because it's talking about basketball. it's the sports and sports is always such a hot topic in our city. our howard eskin is the king. sometimes you don't think so. so this is your chance to knock
8:33 am
the kink coming up. take your best shot. you can do it. we're showing you oreos, why are we showing you orioles, do you like the chocolate on the outside or just the cream. >> i don't like the whole cookie. i don't want any rules with my oreos. do you like it on dunk it into your milk. >> there's a school system that sent home a permission slip for their children to eat an oreo. >> i'm trying to restrict my oreo eating. we're listening to treasure by bruno mars. let us know about the topics. a the mr. of comments are starting to come in. make sure you use our hashtag, fox 29 weekend. time now for knocking the king. how, howard, this is jared and i heard what you had to say about
8:34 am
the ncaaa brackets. it's not all about a favorite team. it's all about the stinging pool. there's a difference between obsession and fun. i'll bet about 99 percent of the people that can't tell you any of the players on one of the teams. it's one of of the best aspects in sports we have today. it allows anybody whether you're a big sports fan to get involved with the teams. you may not know about the players on the team, but money may get involved, but it brings people together and get people to root for teams that don't get a lot of respect or coverage during the season. they get a chance to show their talent as well and i think it's a really great testament to college sports as a whole. jared let me just clue you in on something. how many people even pick buffalo to win in their game? what do you mean it gives people a chance to root for buffalo? that was a poor choice. i'm sure you get into it and you
8:35 am
might know a little bit about college basketball. i say most of the people that play these pools it's all about gambling and they get no work done the first weekend and then how do you feel about your pools being blown up after the first weekend? that's all well and good. no work done. the ' gambling. it's obsessive and now there's nothing left for you. so you go ahead and root for buffalo okay, big guy because nobody else picked them. if you want your chance to knock the kink we'll do it agaiw??ççós

8:44 am
first we have a question for caitlyn. hi, from case, why is it so cold? isn't it supposed to be march? >> yes, it is, cas ian temperatures are supposed to be in the upper 50s, but unfortunately it's been really chilly the past couple of days. we had some warmer weather earlier this week. now it's cole. this is such a rocky time of year. you're trying to transition into spring, but we had a really cold winter. i'm not surprised that we have these little chilly cells as we transition into spring. outside high pressure is back. we have sunshine, we'll have sunshine all day today. it's a beautiful bright looking today, but it is cold if ever all of our runners parts noting not in the love run but all of the races today. we do have a front coming through which will bring some showers by monday morning. even though monies supposed to be milder because the showers come in in the early morning hours this could bring snow to the mountains, that is not out
8:45 am
of the question. showers in philadelphia that will clear out by the afternoon. by tuesday another chance for showers, this one looks a little bit more widespread. the rain could last a little bit longer and it will certainly be chillier. sunny and chilly today, 45-degrees. we should be well into the 50s. you'll notice the difference despite those morning showers. chilly on tuesday 49. we bounce up again, 55 with sunshine and then we really get warm thursday and friday. temperatures soring into the 60s. even the chance of thunderstorms late thursday. by sat here we go, the roller coaster ride dipping again, temperatures in the 40ss with the chance of some rain and snow. thank you, caitlyn. i'm getting some tweets from someone down in myrtle beach that are watching on their i padds. the love run is happening right now. the gun sounded at about 8:00 a.m. and there are show many runners tacking the daunting course. 13.1 miles in this half marathon
8:46 am
but the amazing thing is it's also for a wonderful cause. our junior reporter lauren doug and from villanova university. these half marathoners are running for more than 13 miles. to support philadelphia schools, to support philadelphia students, to support families, to support education. the philadelphia love run races money for the mayor's education supplies fund. mayor michael nutter's challenge to the city to stock our schools with the basic supplies they lack. these people should never have to worry whether or not school will run out of paper midway through the school year. they shouldn't have to wonder whether they're going to have a workbook or borrow pens and pencils or have to share them. at carinal elementary school principal told us how this run keeps students eager to learn. >> it's about markers, pencils, cia once, all those things that
8:47 am
get a young person engaged mentally. they should not be without. the president of cgi raising says that's what running is all about. motivation, a pencil, why try, i don't have paper, why try? it's those elements that you're looking at that you think you got toen expire them somehow. give them a nice pencil, give them, give them that, allow them to have that inspiration that allow them to want to be educated. and that was our lauren doug and reporting. as we are taking a live look right now from the finish line where many of the raisers have come through. a great job to all a of those people who have helped our beautiful schools job, well done. lights out in new york city and across the world as millions of people took part in last night's annual erythropoietin hour. the goal is to help spread aware ness for global climate
