7:00 am
friends, alex. >> yes, looks like a party's brewing right there. >> this program called good day philadelphia, so, in honor that far, we have fairly big announcement to make, to make, i'm going to try to get this announcement out of my gull. >> the you're nervous, aren't you? >> little bit, little bit. >> try to do it before 7:30. >> good thing, good thing. >> yes, really good thing. we all talk about it, little staff meeting, you know? >> go to that paying ill place. >> victoria bagel bristro. >> you'll need your winter coat again. but, now what it, will get little better later on, so now to up seven out of ten.
7:01 am
>> no gloves today, i think they're in the lost and found, sunrise happened 6:45, 35 degrees right now in philadelphia. and, no more rain. so, be prepared, for a cold start, but temps in the upper 40's, by lunchtime. still pretty chilly. and a little on the breezy side, but all-in-all, a nice afternoon, with a high temperature of 53 degrees. the average high is about 58. so, about 5 degrees below average today. still, we will take it with all of that sunshine. >> that's the hollywood he can phoned car just ahead, bob kelly how is it looking out there? >> sue starting to seat beginning of morning rush hour, 7:01 this wednesday morning, the philly public schools, begin their spring break today maybe your kids are starting spring break, next couple of daisy think we'll see some unusual traffic patterns, but 95, southbound, here's the construction zone working your way in toward girard avenue. center lane, though, little further south, from here,
7:02 am
there is a big pothole that errupted on the overnight. so look out there. as you work your way south, in toward the city this morning. disable on the 42 freeway, coming in toward philadelphia. route 42, right before you get to i-295, they got the old tow truck on the scene. and then, north on 295, as we go for aroid here, watch for an accident right near the mt. holly interchange, exit number 45. fire location in the neighborhood, hunting park at ninth and luzern. delays on the schuylkill westbound from city up the hill into belmont. starting to seat beginning of some sun glare, which will impact us coming around the conshy curve this morning, then watch for rock fell down, lincoln drive northbound, only one lane open, rittenhouse, otherwise, looking good at the airport, and mass transit running with no delays. >> bob, you say that once a week, rocks have fallen down on the lincoln drive. >> exactly, past couple of weeks.
7:03 am
>> could we do something about this? >> i'll get out there right after the show today. >> couldn't you put some netting or something? >> i went out to penn stater traveling on the turnpike, and they have the big netting, the big metal chain. >> to keep it up. >> you look, there, wow, what would ever happen if that thing came falling down, so we'll work on that. >> that's how he thinks. you should be streets commissioner. >> all right, 7:03. >> investigators are hoping autopsies done on the two people found dead inside their home yesterday will shed some light on what happened. >> this is what happened. a man and a woman were discovered dead inside their home. and who found them? their son? jenny? >> yes, their son, mike, alex. just horrifying news out of lower moreland here today. and we're wait to go find out more as you said once these autopsies are completed. what we know right now from lower moreland police is that the discovery was made yesterday, just before 1:00 p.m. the couple was found inside the family country lane home in lower moreland. police are calling one of the deaths a homicide. they are wait to go make a
7:04 am
declaration on both deaths until after an autopsy is completed. again that's scheduled for today. neighbors didn't want to talk on camera last night, they said they wanted to deal with the tragedy privately. the montgomery county district attorney afters office says the victims are 48 year old man and 43 year old woman. again, found by one of their children, at this point, police are not release the victim's names, so we aren't going to do that either. so again, hoping to learn more about the details as to why and how this happened later today, mike, alex. >> keep us inform, 7:04. >> pennsylvania governor tom wolf bridges his jobs to pay tour to west philadelphia, the democrat will be visiting the west regional center of the community college of philadelphia on the 4700 block every chestnut street at 1:00 p.m. >> do you have to wear a blue tie? >> no, but it is encouraged. his first budget address included push to restore job training and apprentice programs at community college to help the middle class. >> you sure you don't need a blue tie? you. >> don't need it, but if you would like to wear it join the club, mike. >> i like blue. >> all right.
7:05 am
as a successful pilot program glare borough police department activates their body cameras today. using taste or camera system like the one shown here. glassboro office remembers required to turn on the cameras for the duration of every interaction with a suspect or even citizen, exceptions can be made for sensitive cases such as sexual assaults. and there will be a vigil tonight for 26 year old mark hudson, darby police office here was shot and killed inside his home. yesterday authorities in delaware county, charged his girlfriends, 27 year old, teeanna finch with his murder. finch originally told them the shooting was accidental but later said she fired in self-defense. a day before being charged with murder, finch arrested on charges still interesting dispute last summer in which she allegedly threatened hudson with a knife. finch being held in the delaware county prison. >> septa police busy again trying to track down group of teenagers who, well, did get into a fight with a man, after he, well, a adult goes into a
7:06 am
septa train. okay? accidentally steps on the foot after teenager. then they get into verbal altercation, then it turns physical. >> we will warn you, we have video that might be disturbing, steve keeley has more details. >> our viewers who watch every day are having that dejavu feeling. here we go again from the same spot yesterday at this time. septa headquarters similar situation, showing surveillance video, and unfortunately, no results from yesterday's surveillance video, because it is no snitching culture, and that's the case here. even the victim you just talk about, mike, the 60 year old guy, heist his jaw broken, a lot of stitches to his face, over at and man hospital. and he won't cooperate. he won't say hey what was said between you guys, do you know these people, did you get any names. he won't even help. and if he won't help, no surprise knowing what the teenage witnesses went through there is went to the schools because all of the videos, including the guy who throws the massive punch likely got on the subway from local school. and the schools are out today.
7:07 am
so it doesn't make any sense to stand around and wait for the kids to get on the buses, if you recognize any of the kids on buses or trains, but they are going to the schools to see if any teachers recognize them, hopefully somebody watching like a parent will say hey that's my son, we have to dot right thing. but here is the chief talking about what happened monday after school. >> it is critical for us to talk to the people that were on that train, and anybody that took audio, video what was occurring. this is not a case of a random rider being attack by a mob. this is a bunch of kids that were on the train, behaving prior to the incident, and something occurring, with a adult, who gets on the train. that adult continues to engage with one member of that group, to the point where at 15th street, when they all step-off, there is a physical
7:08 am
altercation where that man is struck, and it appears that he didn't know the punch was coming. so, yesterday, the guy puts a knife to the bus driver's throat. all of the bus driver did was ask him to move out of the aisle so people can get on and off the bus. >> this all becomes a big outcome over somebody stepping on somebody's foot on a crowded subway train. and we always hear about road rage. people behind the wheel. and then you have got this mass transit rage, where people you can't say anything, or bump into anybody. because you might be knock out or have a knife at your throat before you know it. that is the society that we've got right now. >> seems to be the case, steve. all right, 7:08. >> well, first indianna. now arkansas' latest state to face backlash over religious freedom bill. >> yes, lawmakers, there, passed a bill, yesterday, sure seems like the indianna law. that will would prevent state and local governments from infringing on someone's religious beliefs without a compelling interest. critics say the measure could be used by business owners to
7:09 am
deny service to gay, lesbian or transgender customers. but, arkansas' republican governor says he's going to sign it. >> tries to maintain the balance of religious freedom versus equal protection of laws, that is balance we always try to achieve. this bill tries to do that. >> meantime wal-mart, base in the arkansas, weighing in. the retailer's ceo said the bill threatened to undermine the inclusion present throughout the state of arkansas and does not reflect the values we proudly uphold. >> the governor asking lawmakers to send him clarification on the state's religious freedom law by the end of the week. clarification is supposed to make it clear that the law is not designed to discriminate against those in the lgbtq community. caused days of backlash since
7:10 am
being signed in law there is week on thursday, governor mike penned defended the bill again in a news conference yesterday saying it is similar to federal law. but some democrats want it repealed. 7:10, closing arguments are scheduled for next week in the trial of the boston marathon bombing suspect. testimony ended yesterday, the defense presented several witnesses, to show that tsarnaev dzhokhar's mother was the master behind the 2013 terror attack. lawyers admitted his involvement but painted him as trouble teen who fell under the influence of his brother. so the woman who gain fame as the world's oldest person has died. >> she was 117 years old. >> her name was miss sayo, born in japan, march 5th, 1898. the daughter of dim own owe maker, gave birth to two daughters and son and welcomed grandchildren, great grandchildren. she died of heart failure. officials at the guiness book of world records are in the process of determining the new
7:11 am
record holder. 117. goodness. >> well, you might not know his face, but chances are, you know his product. gary doll, he is the creator of the pet rock. he's died. the 78 year old died from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hard disease. he sold more than a million of those pet rocks back in the 70s. pet rocks. it was simply a rock. >> that you take care of, right? >> you put it on your desk, put it by your bed, it became your pet. simply collected rocks. i had one. >> okay. >> and i painted it. >> what color? >> oh, it was pinks and blues, you know? >> cute. let's get to the spring fling. >> let's do it. >> kicking it off today. are we kicking it off, officially right now? >> right now. quincy, you went to victoria's bagel bristro.
