just about 8:10 on fox 29 weekend. on our cover story this morning, mismanagement at the philadelphia va. a government audit released this week details reasons like unreasonable workload and poor leadership. those led to mismanagement and delays in handling veterans' stability and claims. mishandled, manipulation of dates and millions of dollars in duplicate benefit payments. untimely responses to thousands of veterans. the report found that it took 312 days on average for va employees to respond to inquiries that. 's way off the standard typically of five days for a response. twitter blew up, facebook responses came in. they initially screwed up my claim, they passed it to atlanta
8:11 am
and atlanta screwed it up. operationally the va has been a disaster for decades. when will we show vets the respect they deserve. joining us to discuss this is republican congressman patrick mian. i had to dive into that controversy, but this is one of those things that people suspected and veterans knew what was going on for years. why did it take a report like this to shine a light on it. >> you're right to dive in. this has a real impact on veterans when the records aren't accurate and it can have an impact on the kinds of benefits that they do receive. this investigation took ten months, but this is no longer allegations. these are findings by an inspector general. and worse than that we're going to continue to have an even more intensive investigation into some of the issues that may be revealed regarding deliberate attempts to doctor some of those that information.
8:12 am
this is a scathing report, but once again, the folks that are the most impacted are the veterans who can have conference in the responsiveness of the agency. >> yes, it's a scathing report. but one of the things in the report is essentially they're being called on to police themselves. the same people who are doing this are being asked to fix it. why should we expect it to work. >> the whole question of accountability is right at the heart of what we want to see here. and it was one of the reasons new legislation actually enabled senior management to have more capability to take aggressive action against those senior managers who weren't getting the job done. what concerns me is the creation of this culture and when we saw in this particular report the manipulation of some of the data in which there were metrics that were changed in reports, selectively changed. so some performance measures for employees were improved, others
8:13 am
were not. and others knew about this and did nothing about it. to me that creates a culture which says if you're on the inside and you're one of the selected ones, you're fine. you don't have to worry about your unresponsiveness. if you're not, are you treated differently. and once again, the veterans themselves, they should get a response in five days. it took 360 days on average. so we've seen a remarkable lack of appropriate management and oversight and there needs to be accountability. >> you mentioned the insiders and how insiders are treated. iven siders who respond to this immediately make it a funding issue. is it a funding issue or am i too strong to say it's an incompetence issue. >> there have been $16 billion in the veterans administration just recently. the issue of medical records, in
8:14 am
which there have been billions of dollars invested and we're still not seeing. it is not a question of money. there's workload issues and sometimes there's workplace issues. but that's where management has to be able to identify where the problems are. come to us with the problems but the investment has been made and we haven't seen the improvement. >> we appreciate you spending some time with us. we'll continue this discussion with you. hopefully we get this fixed because this should not be happening to our veterans. >> the veterans are the ones being hurt by this and we've got to get it right. >> we want to know what you think. the controversy continues to drew. we would love to hear from some of the veterans as well. you can leave your comments on our facebook page, you can tweet us, just use the hashtag #fox29weekend. >> we have a new owner at the revel but we've got some of the same problems.

it is still lights out because a federal judge has issued a temporary restraining order preventing generators inside the casino. it apparently is a life-and-death safety issue. his polo north country club bought the casino, it doesn't have any power because they cut off service days later because they hadn't been paid and there is no contract for it now. state environmental authorities are blocking the use of generators which straub brought in so we will see what happened with that one. let's see what it's going to be like down the shore today today. it's going to be amazing. there are people out there for walks. we have a regatta in town. first, let's get to our weather question. >> my name is riley and i live in monroeville. i wonder what it would be like for my soccer game tomorrow.

warning because the dog flu is hitting several states very hard. dog owners are being warned right now to keep your pets at home. this is called h 3 n 2 virus and has never before been dedetectived in this country until now. there is no vaccine. veterinarians are warning dog owners to keep their pets away from groomers, parks and kennels. so far the virus does not seem to have any effect on humans. but apparently people can transmit it from one dog to another. so that's a warning, primarily in the midwest but we may want to pay attention to that as well, especially people heading out to dog parks. coming up, we have a bright spot because cancer is such a difficult battle. specifically young adults. today there's something you can do. there's a cancervention going on. this is the first ever cancer

employees. he is joining us on our show this morning. what a cool guy. he will explain why he is doing this. >> but first the focus right now is a beautiful day we have going on outside. we're getting close to 80. there's a lot of great events going on. taking another look at the art museum. it's a great day to get out and enjoy yourself after you finish watching fox 29 weekend. first we've got a weather question. >> we do. >> i'm jason. and i want to know what the weather is going to be like this weekend because i got some skate boarding to do. >> yes, you do, jason. and some nice skills right there. thank you so much for the question. anything you want to know and you want to ask us, #fox29weekend, including on twitter, facebook, we're all over. caitlin, do you have a forecast for the blue white game?
9:01 am
i'm a proud penn stater myself. i have to show a forecast which usually is some pretty rough weather. today, they're going to enjoy a sunny, warm, gorgeous afternoon. kick-off at 4:00 p.m. at penn state plays. it's warm. a lot of people up there for such an important and fun annual game. outside right now we've got sunshine across the delaware valley, clouds towards our south, stormy weather in the southeast. and those clouds will probably make it a little less sunny in delaware and down the shore at times today. otherwise it's a brilliantly sunny day and we've got warm temperatures to go along with it. it's already 65 in philadelphia, 66 in millville. these are normal high temperatures but we'll get close to 80 today. sunny and warm, 78 to 80 degrees here in philadelphia. a cool front tonight. temperatures will only be in the low 60s tomorrow. but still a nice day.
9:02 am
that rain towards our south arrives monday. expect some rain for the rush hour to last through the day, pretty much a washout. we cool off and clear off for the end of the week. high temperatures only in the 50s. >> and we're following a developing story. this concerns a hit-and-run crash that sparked a house fire. >> we'll explain all of that, but let's get out to the scene right now. sabina, is that car still there? >> reporter: it is. we are just waiting for a police tow truck to take it away. this was a horrific hit-and-run. the victim had part of her leg clear shorn off and family members tell us they believe she was targeted. police have confirmed to me this morning, they believe this is the white dodge that hit this victim and took off yesterday. she was standing outside her home along 17th street in the logan section of the city. we do have a picture of the victim. her mother tells us her name is
9:03 am
dee dee spence, 24 years old. she was on the sidewalk and her mother tells us a woman whom she had been arguing over a man for about a week, showed up in this car, you can see she reverses and takes off after hitting dee dee. the motive was over a love interest. again, the victim suffering terrible injuries. part of her leg is now gone. she is recovering at the hospital. after the hit-and-run, a fire started at the victim's mother's home. she was in such a panic to get to the hospital she left something cooking on the stove. so at the hospital neighbors called her to tell her her house was on fire. now we did speak with the mother and witnesses and here's what they told us. >> the bottom of her leg is gone all because this girl wanted to come down here over a guy that
9:04 am
my daughter wasn't even with. >> she came back, the driver came back, the suv, and she ran her over. she ran her over. >> reporter: you can just hear the shock and the emotion in those family members' voices. we had spoken to them just after all of this had happened. that victim just now 24 years old going to have to deal with serious injuries for the rest of her life. police still searching for the driver back here. this is the vehicle they believe was involved in this hit-and-run. preliminary reports here on the scene indicate that the vehicle was left outside the relative's home of the suspect. we're still waiting for police to confirm that. they do believe it was a woman behind their wheel. they're looking for her again this morning and police waiting for a tow truck to come and take this vehicle back to the impound lot. you can see heavy front-end damage to this vehicle. you can see the headlight
9:05 am
actually is gone. police actually found the headlight at the scene. no doubt they're going to be trying to fit that back into the vehicle to prove this was the vehicle in the hit-and-run. that is the very latest. back to you guys. >> unfortunately, it seems like we're seeing a lot of that lately over the last week or so. so we'll keep you informed. police are waiting for a teenager to surrender in a deadly hit-and-run. yesterday police found the car involved in the accident that killed a two-year-old. the owner of the car says he was out of town and length -- lent it to a 19-year-old relative. he turned it over to police and police say they have reached out to the teen driver. and still no arrest in a hit-and-run that happened the same day. this one killing a four-year-old boy. by now many of you have seen that video. you actually have to stop because it's tragic to sit there and look at it. police say they're waiting for the driver to turn herself in.
9:06 am
the boy was hit after running into the street on the 1600 block of north 57th in kingsessing. what investigators do have is the suv that they say was involved. it was found a few days ago at a parking garage near love park in center city. >> two people are in the hospital right now after a late-night fire that happened in northeast philadelphia just before midnight. this is at an apartment on the 2200 block of tremont avenue. we do not know the cause of that fire. >> we've been following this and talking about this story throughout the day. a wealthy ceo takes a massive paycut. now his salary will be the same as his lowest paid employees. plus a beautiful day. why not travel to a national park? a huge reason why you'll want to do it this weekend. >> i'm jeff cole. it's time for fox unfiltered
9:07 am
where we respond to your comments and complaints right here on tv. first up, i'm standing with senior executive producer alyssa frik. you are responsible for all contact. >> true. social media is really important to us here on fox 29. instagram, twitter, facebook. >> we have a complaint. as a news source, fox 29 is supposed to be impartial. however, the person that is in charge of the fox 29 facebook feed constantly invokes god and exhorts readers to pray for whatever news stories they post. this is inappropriate and offensive for those who don't believe in god or believe in a god other than the one your social media person indicates. the style of these posts lead me to believe that one person is responsible for all of them. what do you have to say to that? >> well, rebecca, you're right. you use the word impartial. and when it comes to news, we
9:08 am
have to be impartial. but when it comes to god, you know, that's impossible. we have beliefs too. you're almost implying that we can't believe in anything. and we're human. so of course we have beliefs. and we've actually noticed that a lot of our facebook followers, they invoke god in their posts to us. so most of the time we're just kind of reacting to that. facebook is a way for people to communicate with us. and to send their well-wishes and prayers to people who might be in need. we're giving anyone who believes or doesn't believe in god to sort of send their wishes in their own way. >> she believes that there may be just one person posting these particular comments. >> actually we have an entire social media team in the news room, there's about a dozen or so of us, producers who are posting content on facebook every single day. >> here we are with bruce gordon. how are you? >> i'm well, jeff. how are you. >> it's very nice to see me.
9:09 am
>> you're about to complain about something. i can tell. >> why would bruce gordon waste valuable air time of such an incident of a road cone that was obviously was covering a repair job. >> look, these are not watergate stories, but they are stories that speak to people in the cities. people feel like they're ignored. we get out there and try to get some action and you would be amazed at how appreciative people are. we literally had what appeared to be a traffic cone paved right into an emerge patch job. completely unacceptable. >> you seem to get reaction and response from the city fairly quickly. >> we do. sometimes it's by tremendous coincidence. they tell us we were just about to go out and do that anyway. whatever. the job gets done. was the job done properly and completely we get out the next day sure enough the cone is out of the road, it's sitting stained and damaged on the
9:10 am
sidewalk, and the hole has been sort of patched, but there's still a hole like in the middle of the road. as we like to say, only in philly. >> next up, i'm standing with our good friend, traffic man bob kelly. how is your voice? >> better today but the allergies really got me early in the week. >> i know they did. let's listen. >> the problem is my voice right now. >> is it really a problem though? i'm kind of liking it. >> the barry white traffic. >> our viewers loved it too. bob, you made my day with your barry white voice. these allergies are awful but you found a way to make it work. bob, you sound way to sexy for so early in the morning. sandy. you go bob kelly. loving your voice this morning. i hope you're in not too much pain. >> i don't know why, i don't know why. >> you had some fun with this.
9:11 am
>> thanks to sue serio for jumping in. we had to keep on going but i'm feeling much better now. >> maybe in the future you'll have a little more lemon and tea. >> that's it for this week's edition of fox unfiltered. if you have an idea here of another anchor who's sexy, i'm not suggesting me, but if you think another anchor or on-air person is sexy, feel free to write us. it doesn't have to be me, certainly. i'm jeff cole.
9:12 am
9:13 am
9:14 am
welcome back to fox 29 weekend. just about 9:15 on a beautiful day. we get you caught up with everything going on in your news now. boston's ready for its second marathon since the deadly bombing in 2013. officials say once again they're working to increase security for monday's race. the plan includes police officers stationed throughout the entire race route. organizers expect a smooth and safe event just like they had last year. but they do say the public should be patient with tighter security. >> we could be hitting the 80s here now. look at the scene out there in colorado. they've got snow still, and drivers were brought to a standstill because of so many accidents. they just had low visibility, the road conditions were terrible. crews had to close one of the highways outside of denver.
9:15 am
dozens of accidents were reported all across that state. the storm dumped more than 2 feet on some parts of that state. let's check out video of a severe thunderstorm. this is over texas last evening. it caused a circus tent to collapse with people there. it happened right in the middle of the show. needless to say everybody had to get out. the good news, even in all of that commotion, nobody was injured. >> we know that the weather is going to be great today. but here's another reason to get outside. today starts national park week. while most national parks are usually free, those you have to pay for are free this weekend. so if you're heading out, the national park service wants you to share your experiences using the hash tag find your park. >> this morning we've got a story that had so many talking online. a ceo slashing his salary so his employees can make a little more money.
9:16 am
his name is dan price. he was making $1 million a year, now he's going to make $70,000. so his lowest paid employees can make the same amount as him. more than a million of you saw this story when we posted it to our facebook page. beverly wrote, he is a rare breed. i hope his employees how lucky they are. and cathy says there should be more executives out there following his example. the economy would improve leaps and bounds. joining us this morning, right now, ceo of gravity payments, dan price. good morning to you. >> thanks for having me. >> what made you do this? >> you know, i've been thinking about it for a long time. at gravity, every single person there is a key decision maker. but we have a lot of positions being in a call center, other eventually level positions where the market rate is $35,000, $40,000 a year. i'm making a million and we have clients that we really care
9:17 am
about. and this american that's making $35,000 or $40,000 a year is doing just as much for that client as i was doing and it just didn't same fair. >> why 70,000? >> there was a 2010 princeton study that basically said dollars under $70,000, each of those dollars has an emotion cost and as a result, the dollars up to around 70 or $75,000, have an impact on the happiness quotient. so for us it seemed like what we really wanted as a company was to really just focus on our clients and helping our clients succeed, which are amazing businesses out there. and we didn't want to be distracted by emotion costs of not be able to make ends meet. there was a business reason and a personal reason and when they came together and they were the same number. >> are you going to be able to live on $70,000? >> my compensation was always
9:18 am
set based on market rit in the past and i think in order for us to be sustainable as a company, that has to happen again. if something happens to me or if i can't work, i want the company to be able to continue to progress. the goal is to get it back up there. but for the short term financial risk, i decided to reduce my salary temporarily, which i will be able to live on $70,000 temporarily. but the intention is if and when this works, and i believe 100 % it will work, that my salary will go back to where it was before. >> let's get to that debate. we do have this comment. i would be pretty pissed off and was already making $70,000 while a clerk making 40,000 gets a $25,000 raise. a lot of people think it's not fair if we're all getting paid the same. >> i completely agree. i don't think everybody should be getting paid the same. i think there is some minimum benchmark that you should have. but once you're over the 70,000.
9:19 am
it's strictly based on merit, how much value you're providing and market rates. that's going to make the company sustainable. we're taking the starting pay from 35,000 to 70,000. but it's not going to inhibit our ability to attract top performers and pay them really well. >> well, it certainly generated a lot of discussion and comments and it is an interesting example and we appreciate your time. thank you for joining us this morning. >> thanks for having me. >> what do you think about this ceo? how about that reducing his salaries so his workers can make more. let us know. use our hashtag #fox29weekend. >> i think it's awesome. we'll get back to more discussion like that. but we're going to discuss the beautiful weather. take a look at the poconos. it's amazing at just in a couple of weeks it transitions from nothing but snow to beautiful trees. we'll get into the specifics of the forecast but first we've got a question for caitlin.
9:20 am
>> hi caitlin. we would like to know how the weather is going to be today for the first annual fishing dirby. >> look at that. up in upper bucks county. you and ava, maybe she's a little camera shy. we do have great weather for whatever you have planned oult side. so i'm happy to deliver the good news today. it's sunny, beautiful and warm. high temperatures close to 80 degrees. it will be warmer in the mountains than it is at the beaches today. our own jennie joyce says i woke up sneezing this morning. all you allergy sufferers feel the same way. i do too. high pollen through the weekend. this is the heart of the season so it's to be expected. maple, juniper and poplar all
9:21 am
high. the rain makes it a little bit better. outside, no rain here. sunshine, it's gorgeous. down south we have a lot of stormy weather. pockets of showers and thunderstorms in the southern plains, the gulf coast states. severe weather possible in those spots later today and that whole system will make its way into our area. that will bring us heavy rain but probably not anything severe. a great day shaping up for us. more clouds down south blowing off. if you're in southern delaware, you're going to have a different day. cloudy and breezy and kind of cooler. sunday will be nice too but it will be cooler. here's that rain moving in monday morning. a washout for day one of the workweek. rain on monday, we clear out for the rest of the week and then we turn very cool.
9:22 am
high temperatures only in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees. >> i'm really enjoying these. when we start talking about cooling off and it's almost 60, i can live with that. >> a dog flu is hitting several states hard. what vets say owners need to do to keep their pets safe and healthy coming up. >> maybe we'll get dr. mike to answer some questions tomorrow. also continuing with some of our '80s music. this one really touched a nerve. praying for people. god offensive? do they complain when they get the day off for christmas? doubtful. we also have my daughter caitlin starts penn state meteorology program in july. of course the blue and white game today. and the bill anderson, i love it. what was the score? >> i don't know.
9:23 am
i'm giving a speech. those glasses are so big i think i could see the future. >> exactly. share you're -- your '80s pictures. your our #fox29weekend. >> walking on sunshine into the break.
9:24 am
9:25 am
9:26 am
>> it's absolutely tragic, a four-year-old child struck and killed in a hit-and-run in philadelphia. surveillance video from a nearby story captured the horrific scene. we're not showing the full video. it's just too hard to watch. the boy runs across the street. the suv hits the child once then again as it tries to swerve. police say a woman was behind the wheel and then took off. when you look at this video, you see one of many, many, hit-and-runs that are occurring on the streets of our communities today. the drivers of these vehicles are unconscionable.
9:27 am
their actions are unconscionable. it's a cowardly, despicable act. they render no assistance. there's a reason they're running, of they drunk, are they high on drugs? are they wanted. if somebody dies, in this case a four-year-old, it should be third degree murder. that's my take.
9:28 am
9:29 am
9:30 am
welcome back. taking a look at some of your news headlines right now. it is still lights out for the former revel casino and hotel in atlantic city. a federal judge has issued a temporary restraining order preventing the new owner from hooking up the new generators. apparently it's a life or death safety issue. his country club bought the casino back on april 7th and he said he wasn't going to pay the former power generator but he still has no power because the company cut off the service and they did not agree to pay the back money. there's no contract so it is lights out and right now state environmental authorities are blocking the use of the generators. >> the dog flu hitting several states hard and it can be deadly. dog owners are warned to keep their pets at home. the h 3 n 2 virus has never before been dedetectived in the
9:31 am
united states -- detected in the united states until now. so far the virus doesn't seem to have any effect on humans, but people can transmit it from one dog to another and vets say dog owners need to be mindful of other pets out in public as well. >> we've been talking about this new apple watch. it looks so cool, but you can't find it basically because the supplies are so limited. now, i'm the kind of person that still has my iphone 4 and everybody makes fun of me like it's an antique. the company says the apple watch will only be sold online for the next several weeks. if you do want to test one out, the apple stores do have a couple on display. you can also get an in-person demonstration, if you want to buy it you have to get to your computers. they don't have them in stories. the recent online orders take recent weeks to fill. >> isn't that thing like $1,000.
9:32 am
>> that's what i'm telling you. old is okay. >> this mornings, we're discussing a controversial topic. minnesota vikings running back aid adrian peterson is reinstated. graphic pictures showing the alleged results of hitting his then-four-year-old son with a switch or a tree branch. he pleaded guilty to miss demeanor reckless assault. how nice. a child abusing monster is celebrated again by the nfl. how disgusting and troubling. there's a difference between giving someone their job back and celebrating them. you don't have to be a vikings fan if you don't want to. we want to explore this. joining us solomon jones. good morning, sir. >> good morning, bill. how are you.
9:33 am
>> i'm good. we discussed this a little bit on your radio show. what do you think here? are they too easy on him. >> not at all. i think adrian got caught in a vortex. you had the nfl under fire and you had adrian peterson come in in a different kind of case where he went overboard. i don't think it was the same type of thing as ray rice punching out his fiancee. he admitted that he did it, he admitted he was wrong, he admitted why he did it and i think it was a case of adrian peterson getting caught in the tail wind of another case. >> he didn't, even after the the pictures came out, he didn't do
9:34 am
any jail time, he pled guilty to a misdemeanor. he was suspected ultimately for half a season. some people say that wasn't a raw enough deal. >> actually, he played one game and then he missed 15 games. and so he got hit pretty hard in the pocketbook in terms of what happened with him in the nfl. and so, when he didn't get jail time, he pleaded down to a misdemeanor, but he got hit pretty hard by the nfl and that's where i think he got caught in the pr spin of what was happening with the nfl and domestic violence at the time. >> now there are policies in place in the nfl. so if it happens, there's pretty much a standard punishment that will happen for individuals. but with adrian peterson being reinstated, some are saying we're minimizing abuse of children and not putting it in the same category as women. do they need to be in the same category? >> i think that, you know, it is
9:35 am
a case-by-case basis. one of the things that happened with my show when this this first happened, i brought in the district attorney seth williams and i asked him point blank about the criminal level of abuse. he said a swat on the bottom, a hit on the hand, that is not considered abuse. and then there's prosecutor discretion. the prosecutor can decide whether it is abuse. you have to take it on a case-by-case base. i think in this case, adrian peterson got caught in a public relations spin. >> the fact that he is reinstated we'll get a chance to see because his story will continue. we'll get a chance to see if he does all the things he's been ordered to do and if this ends up being something that he recovers from. always a pleasure sir. >> the pleasure is mine. >> we want to know what you think. there's been all kinds of
9:36 am
facebook comments and tweets on this. did he get off easy or did the punishment fit the crime? you can leave comments on our facebook. you can tweet us, just use #fox29weekend. >> it is 9:36. let's switch gears. a lot of you are heading out the door to do family activities with your friends or family. it is going to be glorious outside. what are you doing for today? >> it's my mother's birthday. so after we leave here i am going to spend a little time with mom. we'll talk about that more a little bit later on but i've got fun plans. >> bill, i love your mom. we're going to show her off in a bit. >> are you want to stand and do the forecast? >> we have basketball games,
9:37 am
soccer games, races, so much going on today. thank you again for that video. all you cute kids. we love to hear what you're up to. it is going to be a sunny, beautiful afternoon. we've got the sunshine and temperatures are already pretty mild, in the 60s right now. a little bit cooler in the higher elevations. 56 in the poconos, 58 in allentown, already 65 in philadelphia. the normal high temperature for us this time of year. 66 in wrightstown. southern delaware, the jersey shore, will be cloudier, breezier. for the rest of us enjoy that warmth. spring fever but almost a summer-like feel today. sunny and cooler tomorrow, temperatures back into the 60s, but still a nice day. by monday, things change. we've got some heavy rain moving through. looks like a washout of a day. we clear out the rest of the week but check out how cool we get. temperatures back down into the 50s by the end of the week. >> so basically it's the most,
9:38 am
do you think it is the most pathetic time we've ever had in philly sports. we've had so many lows across every season. >> this may actually be it. >> let us know what you think about that one. the phillies lost again. what's going on. a new head coach. we'll talk about that. >> last week we were telling me we were at .500 and we were celebrating the phillies. >> plus put a cork in it. why some people are crying foul over a federal government plan to change wine and liquor labels. all of that come up after the break. we go into the break with a little thriller. brookside chocolate now has a crunch.

>> time to talk sports right now. we are going to bring in sean bell this morning. good morning to you. >> good morning. good morning. it's not a good morning for philadelphia sports though. >> well, i'll let you start. why do you think it's not a good morning? >> oh, man. first of all, all the sports in this town are struggling and i'm sick of it. yesterday, fired from the flyers after only two seasons. >> what do you think about that? last season he got to the playoffs and they didn't give him that long. how many head coaches have we
9:46 am
been through already? what do you think about the call? >> this is on par for nhl hockey. in hockey, coaches get fired as they're making the playoffs, making the conference finals. they get fired easily. this is philly, the flyers. they want championships. they choked in the final two months. they should have made the a seed and they didn't. he wasn't getting the best out of the team, out of the players so he had to go. and right now, they don't even know who they really want to go to next for head coach. >> that was my next question. any names floating around, anybody you think on their wish list? >> the one guy that they're talking about is mike babcock over in detroit. he's currently under contract.
9:47 am
it ends after this year. he's still playing right now. his team is in the playoffs. that may be the look. but listen. that's no guarantee and that tells how much they wanted him out. because they have no real candidates set up or in mind but they felt like he needs to go because his team had enough talent and they didn't make it. >> i'm already bored with hockey. let me get to this one because a lot of people were talking about that one on our fox 29 facebook page. the sixers ownership needs to sell the franchise to someone who cares. i was at the first parade as a 12-year-old and i'm 54 today. seriously? >> just be patient. that's all i'm going to say.
9:48 am
because a lot of those guys are going to be fired pretty soon. okay? the sixers, okay, give it a year or two, they'll be gone. and the phillies, it's going to be a long season and a couple of guys are going to get fired off of that team too. >> you know who starts today? for everybody out there, the spinners. a professional frisbee team. their season starts today. sean thanks so much. >> a glowing, upbeat sports report. we've got lots to look forward to, success of philadelphia teams. it's about 9:48. in your news now. many wine makers are worrying about new fda regulations. while the fda wants to help
9:49 am
