tv   Good Day Philadelphia 7a  FOX  April 20, 2015 7:00am-9:01am EDT

7:00 am
is this a hail hail mary move by chip kelly. he is signing with the eagles in another bold move by our coach. what do you think of this years team so far? very interesting off season. temple student held up on the edge of campus, just hours ago, now police are looking for two men involved. how the campus is alerting students. target will in the get a pulitzer for this weekend i'm telling you. if you tried get into one of their stores you could not get past the door in some cases. look at these humans. people were lined up waiting for lily pulitzer fashions,
7:01 am
she has a target collection, right? well, there is fall out from all of this and we will bring you up to date in a second. >> that guy in the middle had no idea, this was a big sale going on. >> what is up with the line. >> it will be easy, be in will be there. >> on my way home, you will be in and out. >> nj rick sent me a message on twitter. he want us to wish his sweetheart suzy kline a happy birthday. in fact, not just happy birthday but a happy, happy birthday, sue. >> it was very nice. we cannot do birthday shout outs. >> what he do. >> he was very nice to me on twitter. >> is that a rare occurrence. >> yes. >> look at what happened to bus stop buddy, it is so windy outside, it is blowing over.
7:02 am
it is to emphasize how windy, it is outside, in addition to being rainy, so that increases the messiness of this monday morning, which is why we're only giving you a a two out of ten this morning. if you are walking out the door make sure you have that rain gear. we still have heavy downpours around the philadelphia a area easing up a little bit around lancaster and berks county, this morning. but everybody else it is still raining quite a bit. 57 degrees, 16 miles an hour sustained but we have had wind gusts of 30 miles an hour out there this morning. now we will get some sunshine in the middle of the day before thunderstorms fire up. we will get to 76 degrees. some storms could be strong to severe. 57 degrees, tonight, so, bob kelly, if you can delay your trip for a couple of hours, maybe until about 10:00 o'clock, it would be ideal. >> i tried using that on the producer, saying i need to delay my trip, for a couple hours, didn't work.
7:03 am
7:02. get yourself out of bed and let's go. tacony pal will my use in the middle of the opening. all traffic closed on both side. head for betsy ross as an alternate. here's an accident, westbound lanes of 422, right here near route 23, it is westbound side. eastbound is where we will see most traffic. fellow off of here in to the grassy, mix, and a live look at 295 in south jersey where again, because of the weather, heavy rain, win, that is naturally going to slow us down and make for a long commute. factor in extra time this morning. pack your patients. already an accident now on the pennsylvania turnpike, thinks westbound, between fort washington and mid county interchange causing delays. we have reports of flooding, on the new jersey turnpike now, north bound right here near exit number two, and weather delays, at laguardia, two hour and 20 minute delays
7:04 am
in new york. that will cause domino effect here in philadelphia check with the airline before you head down to the airport. mike and alex, back over to you. it is tebow time, in the city of philadelphia the free agent quarterback is expected to sign later this morning. >> tim tebow has been out of the game since 2013 but he still has a really strong fan base. >> oh, yeah. >> some people are really excited about this. lets get to steve keeley. what a way to start off spring work outs, steve. >> i'll tell you who is not starting off in heaven as soon as he would like. mike, i got it on good authority that every god pun that you do needs another couple weeks of purgatory, enough with the born again, hail mary you just added six months tour sentence in purgatory it is only 7:00 o'clock. >> pope comes in september, am i right. >> eagles start their season
7:05 am
in september, could this be a meeting of tebow and the pope in the future. >> is that why -- you are going to purgatory. >> by the way, the pope will say a mass on a sunday. what if tim tebow is playing in the game at 1:00 o'clock, and the mass is at noon, what do we do. >> conflict. >> reporter: if he is invited, he is on that alter. >> he has to leave right after communion. >> reporter: we move eagles to the night game, all right. look, it is raining out here. the the whole shoulder is flooded. i hope tebow has a nice safe way to get to work today for day number one as a the eagles start their spring training program as they call it, and they better have crooks for the eagles players, these waterproof plastic cheap shoes but they will be in that big tent the bubble thing thaw can finally see. they will be indoors. they will not be outdoors, so
7:06 am
don't expect to see tim tebow on video tonight, in the sports cast. but eagles fans, we're hoping for a heisman first round quarterback to arrive who are in april and they got one just not the the one they were hoping for. they want the most recent heisman winner in the april 30th draft a week from thursday. they have 2007 heisman winner and howard eskin last night said don't expect eskin or don't expect tebow to stick around too long here in philadelphia. >> people and social media getting too carried away with the eagles signing of tim tebow and that will happen tomorrow. i'm told he is coming in for the physical and after he passes, and he will, passes the the physical, he will sign a one year deal with the eagles. people should understand that the eagles can cut him with no rigs being, and not pay him for the the year. there is no guaranties here. here's what fans should understand, the teams always bring in extra quarterback for early camps and sometimes training camp and never keep them. >> he better have some magic
7:07 am
up his sleeve because what we got right now is last place in our division. >> can't hurt, one year, we will see what he can do. now we have four quarterbacks but i think we should use him, elsewhere as a quarterback. i don't think he will win that spot but we will see what happens. >> you are keeping a open mine bit. >> why not, one year. >> maybe he will do something. >> you are all for it. >> oh, definitely you heard this news and you thought... >> i was honestly going to cry. i was so happy. i love him. i can't wait to see him. >> reporter: here's another thought, i was remembering being out here, a few years ago when eagles signed another out of the league for a few years running left-handed quarterback to see if he had anything left, and that guy quickly went from third string to starter and got another 100 million-dollar quarter and the the big difference, tebow, comes into philadelphia a with the world's respect, for his off the field behavior. it has happened before with a guy who has been hated by half of the crowd, this guy is loved by everybody.
7:08 am
it is easier. just a thought it is national the news in all of the sports talk radio stations this morning. my goodness. all right. 7:08. what do you think of tim tebow coming to philadelphia. >> we have some comments here. this is from dave, tebow is a warm body for camp. if the media issuing is us is minimal, it is a low risk gamble. so it is a gamble. >> doreen says i like it. tim tebow being an eagle is good carpal a we need it. that could be a good thing. let us know what you think using the hash tag fox 29 good day. >> lets get back to our other story in north philadelphia this morning. >> police are investigating an attempted robbery targeting a temple student. >> yeah, jenny is on the story, jenny. >> reporter: mike and alex, there are 13,000 students on temple university's campus or around temple university's campus and the school has been doing different things to try to make sure that this area is secured. well, last night they did confirm that there was an
7:09 am
attempted robbery of a student here at the intersection of sydenham street and susquehanna avenue. it happened around 1:00 this morning when the tu a alert went out on twitter notifying people that two men held up a student at gunpoint. it does not appear as if anything was taken from the student and the student was not hurt. this area is part of the temple university police expanded coverage zone. the so as of last fall temple police anal identify barton security began patrolling susquehanna, part of the new initiative to serve these students who lived here. so, again, hearing that the student was not hurt, again, it happened around 1:00 police still investigating looking for these suspects and additional details into what exactly happened, mike and alex. lets get to another campus delaware state university will resume normal classes and operation this morning following a shooting over the weekend. >> three people were shot during a university sanctioned student greek life cook out on saturday.
7:10 am
victims who are not students are expected to be okay, and then there was a second shooting that happened at a nearby apartment complex. fortunately, no one was injured in that shooting. police continue to investigate both incidents. two teenage girls were hit as they crossed roosevelt boulevard in the north east. it happened just after ten last night at tyson avenue. this was not a hit and run. we're told the the driver went around the block and returned to talk to police at the scene. the girls were not seriously injured. and the funeral for two-year old who was struck and killed by a hit and run driver will be later today. family and friend gathered for viewing of the two-year old david alycia. he and his mother were struck by a car, exactly one week ago today, this happened on masher street, the the the mother was released from the hospital. police say there it is they found a car involved but they are still waiting for the 19 year-old driver to turn himself in. a $20,000 reward is being
7:11 am

7:12 am
scale the presidential gate. >> the intrude are didn't make it very far getting a roasted after jumping over the south wall fence around 10:30 last night. this is footage from months ago. this is within of the growing number of high profile security breaches in the nation's capitol. a florida poster worker, landed on the capitol lawn. this latest incident has some members of the congress upset. >> i'm just astound that had somebody could do what he did. i'm glad he is not hurt but that shows you how far defenses have fall glenn the the white house fence may not be easy to climb but somehow people keep getting over it. last week the national the park service, unveiled plans to add spikes along the top of the fence. i'm surprised they weren't there in the first place but that upgrade has been a slow process. 7:12. dzhokhar tsarnaev returns to court for start of the sentencing phase in the 2013 boss to be bombing case but
7:13 am
today the focus is on this years marathon. before bombing spectators were free to roam the the the route but now checkpoints are set up to watch race near starting and the finish lines. bags will be checked and extra officers will be patrolling the route, in nearby roads to protect the runners and thousands of others who show up to cheer them on. president barack obama expressed his sympathy and thanked first responders in remembering the oklahoma city bombing. yesterday mark the the 20th anniversary of the the attack. it was deadliest terror assault on the u.s. soil until september 11th attacks six years later. home land security secretary jay johnson says terrorism cannot the prevail if the people refused to be terrorized. >> today is a day to mourn, and remember, those who died here 20 years ago, but today is also a day to say to those who intend to terrorize us, no, you cannot. >> tim think mcveigh was

7:15 am
>> i would go if it is free. >> fit is free, it is for me. >> in two seconds it is 7:15. >> all right. >> we're not being thrifty with the rain this morning but before we show you ultimate doppler i want to show you temperatures south of the warm front. milder temperatures will in move in later on. after the the cold front comes through, chilly temperatures on the way especially for end of the week but right the now it is only 39 degrees in minneapolis. it is freezing in north to coat a we have to keep an eye on that. we will get chillier temperatures. as we look up towards boston where they are having the boston mar then today and in parts of the new england specifically, western massachusetts, vermont, new hampshire, they have got some snow falling this morning. it could be worse. it is rain, only rain, for us but lots of it. weaver getting pounded with this rain. wind driven rain, here in philadelphia, and to the north of us and montgomery county, and, chester county, delaware

7:33 am
serious security flaws. >> but a strong pass word, they always say can be the best protection, a strong pass word. lauren johnson where does this device called a cracked box come in. >> reporter: you have heard of the cracked box. it is hardware. hackers are using it to get your pass word in just seconds. scary thing you can purchase it off store shelves and popular retailers. a good defense could be the length of your pass word but not just the pass word. your strong pass word should be over ten characters and include letters, numbers, symbols and all that. it makes it harder for hackers to crack. then they say, one weak pass word can allow a hack tore break into a entire company's system. >> we see them break nothing to business all the time. we find it to be very easy to get into an organization and take owner is ship of have their date a you take it up a inch when you think of critical infrastructure. can i shut down the power grid in the northern you had. it makes you worry with these

7:42 am
seconds. now this guy comes in, training camp, preseason, first game, thinks all anybody will be talking about. >> if i'm sam bradford i'm not worried about tim tebow at all. he cannot be a full-time quarterback. sam bradford will be a pain in the the butt to have have people calling in saying he can win games, he has won a playoff game. if you succeed you have to deal with stuff like that. >> if i'm sam, i'm happy, it takes spotlight off of him. >> talk to that guy. talk to him. i'm rehabbing. you asked me about my bum knees. >> what is this about chip kelly do we like him more or still suspect. >> i love him, man. he is so, i'll do whatever i want to do, whatever i think is rise right. we have never seen anything like this, before, jen. >> no, we haven't. if you are an eagles fan andy reid was gut boring after 15 years. chip kelly is in the boring a
