we have breaking news in montgomery county. look at this. a major accident in lower providence involving two trucks. one is carrying printing ink and printing supplies, the other, sewage. bob kelly has the the impact on your commute. and nearly 4,000 people are dead following a historic quake in nepal and that number is expected to rise. new help is on the way from countries across the globe and that includes people right here in the delaware valley. how you can get involve. i bet when the president walks in and saw those bell hops he thought finally some decent security. >> a tough crowd at times. saturday night life star cecily strong i thought had a strong performance accounts took a few jabs at seek let service a at this years white house correspondents dinner, but that wasn't the worst line. i thought she was great. the joke that had some people groaning, on saturday night.
7:02 am
groaning. >> you know, sometimes with comedy some people get uncomfortable. that is what comedy is a all about. >> that is true. >> good morning. >> sue has the day off. here's bob killie doing double duty. we have a major accident. lets go backup stairs. sky fox over the scene of this nasty accident, that happened about a half an hour ago along south park avenue between ridge and main street in lower providence. the as mike mentioned two tractor trailer collided on this roadway. now this roadway we're not talking about a major interstate, but we're talking about a rest conscious neighborhood as you can see one lane on either side, it is south park avenue, just outside of trooper. the tractor trailer here, carrying what we're told are printing ink and supplies. that is the cargo, the round barrels you see on the roadway. the tanker style tractor trailer carrying sewage waste and that is what we are seeing all over the roadways here. the the whiteys the foam that
7:03 am
was sprayed on to the burning fire, by the the fire fighters, the grass was even on fire at times. we are trying to get a handle from the police officers exactly how this accident happened, are there any fatality or injuries. the obviously both tractor trailers involved. we have no word of any other reek also involved thank goodness because if this accident had happened just a half a an hour later, it probably would be filled with a lot more -- roadway would have been filled with more motorist and school buses. this is a residential stretch on park avenue between eagle view road and main street. you can see sky fox rolling down homes are right along this roadway here. folks pulling out of their driveway, mike, we were talking about the cab. >> there it is. >> there is the cab. >> we thought it was maybe down the road. >> at least we are trying to put pieces together here. it looks like the tractor trailer, separated from the cab, i wonder if that is what started the whole crash here
7:04 am
because we were wondering if it was a head on collision. looking at it here you see folks investigating it but would i bet that the cab and trailer separating maybe upon impact and therefore we have one cab and two trailers back there where the clean up is underway. lets go to the maps to show you where we are speaking. the it is south park avenue between egypt and ridge right here in trooper lower providence. this is a main drag now park avenue for folks trying to get down to 422. it is also part of the detour route. we saw yellow detour signs right here near the accident scene. heading outside the front door egypt road or sunnyside avenue are your two best bets this morning. another accident not as serious but on the roosevelt boulevard with slow go northbound working your way up toward broad street and new jersey transit, the the river line, they are in signal issues every 30 minutes on the new jersey transit river line.
7:05 am
stepping out of the front door, radar looking good. no problems at all on doppler, so not a cloud in the sky. we are off to a good start there. 49 degrees. the wind will play a tack for in the next 36 hours or so. we will get up to 62 degrees. we will start off with some sunshine. the cloud will roll in the afternoon. cannot rule out that stray shower later this afternoon. but later on tonight we will dip down to 47. clouds will roll through and so will the wind. the win will play a factor in the next couple of days, we will run that down in the seven day forecast, coming up next time around, mike and alex, back to you. nearly 4,000 people are confirmed dead from that massive earthquake in nepal. >> 7.8 magnitude quake, destroyed, well, many parts of the country especially the capitol. >> there are many obstacles. land slide surrounding remote villages are making it difficult to get to the
7:06 am
survivors. there have been 100 after shocks. some huge. local hospitals are flooded with injured survivors. >> some people with head injuries. i have many people who have suffering head injuries and many injuries. >> the united states has sent a disaster response team to nepal. they are already there. as well as 45 tons of relief supplies. that is where you can help. hundreds of people crammed into the airport trying to get out. it left many feeling absolutely desperate what do you do? they are hungry. they need water, hotel rooms, they are all gone. there is limited food ape water. many of been forced to seek safety outside in the elements. back here at home locals are trying to do what they can to help in the aftermath. this family which owns the the persian grill in lafayette hill montgomery county has family in nepal. they a say their family members alive but restaurant
7:07 am
owners are soliciting any donations they can through a least leave jar. they hope to donate whatever they can. they are having a event on thursday where part of the proceeds that they get from their restaurant will go to the government in nepal. >> connecting with the government directly and all of the donations will go directly to the government so they can be allocated where ever they need it. >> i think there is no food. there is no water. they are living outside. when i go to bed, how can i think that way and how can i sleep. >> the family will also donate 20 percent of all of their sales this month to help nepal in the aftermath of this earthquake. if you'd like to help victims of the earthquake donate to the red cross. we have put a lincoln my fox philly.com. the just look under the scene on tv tab. back to this other store friday last week, police are still working to -- they are expecting to identify everyone who took part in the brawl at a septa station in spring
7:08 am
garden and broad street. this young man 18 year-old was arrested on saturday. he faces a assault and weapons charges related to a fight the at the spring garden station on the broad street line. it happened last tuesday. officials say most of the suspects appear to be high school students. 7:08. philadelphia police say a mother punish her four children by locking them up in the basement of their kensington home for more than 14 hours. >> yeah, four children ages nine through you 13 were finally rescued, one of them trapped down in the base many, call 911 in the cell phone. steve keeley is live, steve? >> reporter: we have learn that neighbors have told detectives that the mother was trying to do it all. single mom four kidding to go nursing school at night, working at the airport during the day and just at the breaking point and taking punishment maybe too far. detectives here at special victims unit says grounding kid by locking them
7:09 am
underground in a dirty, damp basement is a big, major league no, no. bad enough if the parents are home upstairs but way worth then leave the house entirely to go to work or school as they say happened here. detectives were left without foot or bathroom or water for 15 hours in a very unfinish basement. detectives did not say when they found the mom nine through 13. three young girls and older brot the shore who smartly had a cell phone that was not hook up to service provider. always keep a powered up cell phone with you anyway. the you can always dial 911 with them. that kid knew to do that. that got them out of the basement or they may have been in there for a full day. >> i never met a person that would do that to their kids. like if he was thinking of that as punishment, then i don't know what type of parent that is. but to think on have that as punishment.
7:10 am
>> it is had hard to raise kids a as a single mom raising four kid. the she's working. she's going to school. it is hard. you know, it is very hard. so sometimes i think this is just bad judgment on her part. i think she just made a mistake. >> reporter: kids were taken to st. christopher's not far to be checked and brought over here. coincidently the department of human services is just two doors away in the same complex as the special victims unit. detectives can talk to them and counselors can handle them, feed them, and they were playing around in the hallways we're told. detectives had mom here. the she's facing at least four counts oven danger. and related charges as well. sad for this mom trying to do it all and just took it too far. mike, as you know, we talked about what our parents did to us is now illegal. maybe one generation to the next passing on those old punishments that are a big no, no in today's world. >> that is for sure. >> 7:11 almost.
7:11 am
jokes at white house correspondent is a so, dinner were all over. some thought they were corny, others controversial and others plane funny. >> current cast member of the snl cecily strong didn't hold back. here she is. >> i bet when president walk in and saw those bellhops, he thought finally some decent security. >> yikes. >> i'm just kidding. let's give it up for the secret service, yeah. i wouldn't be too hard on those guys. they are the the only law enforcement agency in the country that will get in trouble if a black man gets shot. >> i don't hear boos, but, so, you know, it is always tough for the president. you have to decide when to laugh and when not to laugh. he didn't even move when she said that. >> everybody is watching his face how will he react.
7:12 am
>> yes. >> president obama a brought in an anger translator did you see this. he had a comedian stand behind him and translate what he is really thinking, listen to this. >> hold on to your lily white butt. >> in our fast changing world traditioning like white house dinner are important. >> i mean really, what is this dinner. why am i required to come to it. jeb bush, do you really want to do this. >> proceeds, for the event go toward scholarships for aspiring journalist. they always have, some college students there that are aspiring journalist and they give them an award. >> you normally go every year. >> i do, but i had other things to do. >> to go be with the president. >> i had some things to do. >> i love that comedian, yes.
7:13 am
>> hilarious. >> comedy central. >> yes. >> lets get to bob. >> bob. >> hi bob. >> good morning, everybody. 7:13. sky fox over the the scene of the the nasty accident and a clean up, two tractor trailers collided this morning, one carrying printing ink and supplies. that is the brown barrels that you see here that came loose out of the tractor trailer. the second trailer, a tanker style was carrying, sewage waste and the combination of both of those products are all over the roadway. this is south park avenue between ridge and eagle view. not a major roadway. i got a tweet from someone in that detour sign is due to a local bridge that is out, so i'm wondering if one of the tractor trailers, maybe not familiar with the neighborhood or with the detour maybe going a little too fast around the curve. little down below here the the cab of what looks like would be the tractor trailer that was carrying the printing supplies is being looked at,
7:14 am
and investigated, by the the authorities here. i'm wand fairing that cab separated from the trailer. nonetheless a hazmat situation, closure of south park avenue which is a main drag here rolling through trooper. not only moms, dads but also the school buses will have to go for a detour and not quite sure what the clean up is going to up tail here because we have sewage waste and there is printing ink and printing supplies. this all happened on the front of somebody's lawn here as the sun comes up, obviously this happened later in the morning. it could have been worse with much more volume, maybe even kids standing on the corner at bottom of their driveway waiting for a school bus. so thankfully none of that happened at that time period. so, some good things coming out of this lets go to the maps as far as location and the detour. it is south park avenue coming through trooper closed between egypt and ridge.
7:15 am
the that is closure point here. that will give everybody an opportunity to use egypt or sunnyside avenue to get in and out of the major thoroughfare of route 422 for the morning rush hour. eastbound on the schuylkill expressway at girard avenue we have a disable vehicle there off to the side. otherwise, just your normal volume on i-95 and blue route as we get ready for a monday morning. 7:15. a check of the forecast, not bad at all, looking like a good morning. temperatures, a little chillier this morning then they were over the weekend. mount pocono checking in at 40 . forty-three waking up at pottstown. the if you are dressing the kid, to wait on that bus stop or if you have to step out the front door, you have the jacket on. down the sure atlantic city cooler by a mile. the wind will play a factor in the next 24 to 48 hours. wind speed right now 9 miles an hour out of mount pocono. same deal here in philly. lancaster checking in with five.
7:16 am
even folks down the shore got that bay breeze 7 miles an hour coming out of atlantic city. lets go for a roller coaster ride. do you remember a week ago 76 degrees and sunshine. we took a dip, wednesday we really went down the the big hill, 52, 57, even though we had sunshine over the weekend for soccer and baseball games it was still chilly out there especially when sun went down. we only reached a high of 64 yesterday. here is your seven day forecast, sunshine today, clouds rolling in after the evening rush hour but we will reach a high of 62. tomorrow looking g sunny, a little windy but almost 70. we will nip it there at 69. wednesday looks like the the best date of the week so far sunshine high of 74. then we will grab the umbrella and rain rolls in on thursday. mike and alex, back to you. >> come on, you have to watch this play. did you see phillies game on saturday? well, be in did. if you did miss the phillies game, you missed one of the best plays i have ever seen. freddie galvis at short stop.
7:17 am
watch this. >> line drive. >> picked up. >> look at that throw, from his butt. look at the stretch by rice an howard. >> that is a great play. >> both end, right. >> oh, yes. >> both end. >> freddie and ary an with that stretch. >> yes. >> he bounced back. >> he wasn't even looking. >> he wasn't looking throwing from his rear end, that was just great. let's talk football because this thursday, this will change everything, either great or horrible. >> that is true thursday night in chicago, the nfl draft. eagles hold 20th pick in the the draft but there is still rumors that chip kelly will try to do something big on draft day. from what we have seen this off season i wouldn't put it past him. >> i wouldn't either. lets get into more juicy rumors. mostly involve around that guy oregon quarterback, marcus
7:18 am
mariota. marcus is project to go from the top five picks . probably top two. eagles will have to move way up to get him. lets look at a couple rumors i saw over weekend. first involved cleveland browns. eagles would trade newly acquired quarterback sam bradford, and eagles 20th pick. they would go to the cleveland browns for the 12th and 19th pick of the draft. the the eagles would then use those two draft picks to move up into the top five. they are trying to get to number two. what is another one. >> last week there was a three team tiehl where eagles, titans and chargers were involve. philip rivers would end up in tennessee. charges would get sam bradford and eagles first round pick and eagles will have titans first round pick which is the second pick in the draft. there would also be other draft picks involved with that, so, oh, thursday will be big. >> i'm okay with all that. >> yeah.
7:19 am
>> but i feel like with chip you think what he will do and then he throws a curve ball. >> he likes to dot opposite of what everybody else is doing. >> i love that about him they. >> it makes him exciting. >> let's talk about a huge recall of ford cars. >> drivers say their doors just come flying off while the cars are on the road. >> that is not the good. >> we will tell you cars involved with this recall. >> okay. >> 7:19. later people desperate to get in touch with family and friend in nepal after that huge, earthquake how facebook and google make it easier to chick in on loved ones.
