let's face it, in the united states it is very self excentric adult to kid but this stud any particular surprised me because so many people are telling their kid go volunteer, go do your own alex lemonade stand. there is community stuff like in brody and land dry's school they have buddies that are two grade ahead or below, they write back and forth. this study, it is greatly surprising to me good but aren't you always, first on your mind making sure your kid become successful? >> you know, it is funny, because we have talk about this a couple times. i want him to be happy. there is a difference between being personally happy and being successful. we don't try out for travel times and we don't push him, i'm not a tying are mom. i think maybe that is who they are referring to are these tiger moms that you view excellence above everything. there are pockets of that but to hear that 80 percent,
8:09 am
80 percent of parents viewed that to be higher then being nice surprises me. i will say if you tell me that you know, these tiger moms say you being the best matters most absolutely i would see how that would translate into being a bully. i a bully is mad because they are not the best or they are the most fierce, popular. they have in other way to act out then to being a jerk. >> you ask 20 percent of the study. we will put new that 20 percent. thanks. new look at why so many americans are not married anymore. >> for the most part it is not an accident but it is a choice. >> accord together pew research center only 30 percent believe having successful marriage is within of the most important things in their life. one in ten americans told researchers in 2010 they believe marriage was obsolete. sociologist say it is greatest social change of the last 60 years. >> so 30 percent of everybody

8:18 am
woman reinvented herself. many books written about blacks passing as white in the in american history to get out of the oppressive conditions of the south, and then this woman has a history which is quite interesting. she says she's white. american-indian. she had four siblings that is african-american. she identifies with the black community. she invented herself this way. this is an example of when we say race is a social construction that it is spun by social as well as typical characteristics. she chose to basically foreground the cultural side of the her family history. >> she may identify as an african-american but she deceived everybody. she told everybody i am black what do you think about this doctor. >> i think it is a interesting case. i agree race is a social construction it has real implications for all of uses specially these walking around in black society. i find it interesting to hear the history of passing, i'm wondering how one can pass as
8:19 am
a black or pass into another race. there is talk about this race, trans racial happening since this case came out. for me i think we have a problem with that idea. trans racial would happen if i can walk in the room and say i can walk in the white and not think that is there something wrong with me. >> that is so true. everybody is talking about trans racial and then they are also talking about, caitlin jenner, transgender, is this the same thing dr. gallagher. >> i don't think it is same thing. as professor said before there really is, i think what is bothering people here is simple deception. that is first part. other parties this person that you reach is not inn habited a black body as a child. she doesn't understand a group to be targeted by police or to be looked at in a way that is suspect. the caitlin, bruce jenner comparison i think, there is difference even between one gender and sexual identity and passing. and this is i think is
8:20 am
different. there are similarities but at the same time i think what bothers so many people here is that this person invented her sole wholesale through deception. >> if it is not same thing then how would you define trans racial. everybody is throwing that term around. >> i think, you know, if you look in the course of someone's life they might identify different race at different times. good longitudinal data on. that latinos is a good example. half of them define themselves as white and 40 percent define themselves as on other race because white inn black label doesn't fit them. that is what this is about. it business fit. problem that is race matters enormously and we can look at all of the shootings taking place in the last year. that is what people find offensive is you figured out a way to take blackness and modernized on it and capitalized on it without having to experience anything of what blackness means in the you had which is typically to be in some way profiled. >> he which say modernized,
8:21 am
doctor blay we have to admit, is this really an indictment on the black community because maybe she felt hey, i believe in black rights and i want to help out but if i were to come and say i'm a white woman i wouldn't be able to be the leader of the naacp. >> you don't get to make those choices. it was co founded by white people. you can just be white and be an alley. you don't to have throw on a costume. what bothers me is the way in which she understands blackness or misunderstands blockness. our history, identity, much bigger than to of being an oppressed people. we have a longer history of. that she has only identified with that which alerts me to the fact that she doesn't know what it means to be black. >> i should say i have done work for naacp as a white male. i think also as someone who considers himself part of addressing the issue of social in equality, as a white male i have been invited and part of organizations that have been trying to advance agenda of social justice.
8:22 am
aim not black. i can still use my white privilege as a way to basically address social issues. she has that option. she chose not to exercise it. >> i have been looking at comments. have one has a opinion on this and on rachel. people also throwing out the term black. that would use the way to make fun of african-american. she's been doing quite the opposite. can we call this black. >> you can call ate lot of things. i can understand why people might say that. it has to do with now we are looking at her instagram. we are seeing things that she said, her hair styles, her talking about making sweet potato pie. it just seems very stereo typical. that is way black face operated that it is a blackness. again, it is very isolated kind of a insight into what it means to be black. i think now looking back we're kind of questioning the way in which she has performed her type of blackness good that is the word performance. she has created a list of things. if you read description on her
8:23 am
web site for where she works at the university, one would just conclude and maybe this is my own reading too much into it that she's an african-american female. she crafted. this is donnas a matter of fiction. she crafted an identity where of course this woman is african-american. >> what do you want because hopefully she will speak soon. she's supposed to speak today. that was postpone. what do we want to hear from rachel at this point doctor blay. >> we would like her to acknowledge, that she lied and perhaps give us some insight as to why. >> that is why i'm asking why? >> thank you so much, we appreciate it. we will keep you updated on rachel in the next naacp meeting in spokane when she does address these accusations. >> thank you. 8:23. is there a new challenge sweeping social media just reach behind your back with one arm and touch your belly button go try it, not as easy as you thing. why some are saying belly
