7:02 am
forget umbrella and rain gear. you'll need it. ten down to a seven. yesterday was a perfect ten. today only a seven because of these storms. seventy-one, we are climbing above 70's here. north and west mid to upper 60's. to the south we have a 72 in wildwood. seventy-one atlantic city. enjoy that temperature. it is not warming up much. that wind will pick up off the ocean. that will drop temperatures from the 80's to the 70's by the p.m. drive. a.m. drive, any problems on the roadways, bob. >> we have a normal list of problems here. 7:02. jammo on 422 rolling eastbound heading in toward that king of prussia interchange i'm passing construction here on troop are road. for gang coming into philadelphia, from south jersey, starting to see pockets of volume here on the freeway working your way in toward that walt whitman bridge. we have an accident on the pennsylvania turnpike, here's
7:03 am
the deal, as we go for a ride westbound on the pennsylvania turnpike on the ramp to the northbound northeast extension. so westbound turnpike heading north on the extension, on that ramp there it is partially block and that is causing a big backup on the westbound lanes of the turnpike itself. on the other night we had a down tree along belmont plateau right at the intersection of montgomery drive and belmont avenue. so right now police have that area detoured and that is tough. once you committing go through fairmount park you are pretty much done witt. your best bet avoid it if you can. use ford road to get over to martin luther king drive or pick up mlk drive from city avenue from the get go. eastbound schuylkill making your trip into downtown. that is incorrect, 0 miles an hour. woodhaven to downtown just under a half an hour make that trip from center city. 202, little bit of the slow go, working your way out of king of prussia mass transit

off my chest now. there will be no death bed confessionness this family. you will hear it now. >> reporter: governor christie will stick in new jersey long past lunch. he leaves for his next town hall not in new jersey, but in new hampshire, at 6:00 o'clock tonight. he will stay in new hampshire most of this week and probably most of the next eight months until the new hampshire primary, in february. one thing that strikes me different there all of the new jersey town halls that he has had in libraries, community centers, and other official buildings, all of the town halls in new hampshire are in nice bars. so, craft beer meets chris christie in new sham hire. >> real quickly, if we can, if you could target middle class how has middle class done under his governorship? >> reporter: welshing not good in new jersey, no class has
7:07 am
done real good in new jersey. new jersey's economic record is real awful. the other candidates won't highlight that because, chris christie is not a front runner, not enclose to being a front runner. he will be on the attack likely against jeb bush, don't be surprised, he has been attacking senator paula lot lately, but nobody is going to have to attack christie because they are not worried about him being a threat right now. economic record here in new jersey abysmal but nation likely won't hear about it for a while good unless he rises up in the polls and then gloves will come off. lets stay with politics here. nbc tells christie's rival donald trump he is fired for comment he made about mexican immigrants during his presidential announcement. nbc announced yesterday would it no longer air the miss u.s. and miss universe pageant which are owned by trump. last week uni vision cut ties with trump a and his pal events. you will remember trum are seven referred to mexican immigrants in his quote, rapist, drug dealers, and

police good it might help him. have they offered him a plea deal at this point then to go back and talk about the two prison employees joyce mitchell, most noteably here, gene palmer, the one involve. >> no plea deal. they will in the led him plead but they will offer him something that will make his life easier, like what he will do is spend probably ten years in solitary confinement. >> ten years. >> up to ten years. that means 23 hours a day he is in solitary confinement. they let him walk out for one hour a day. they will say we will let you walk out three hours a day or we won't give you ten years, five years. that is only kind of deal they will make with him. they will not cut down anything in terms of his prison sentence. they will charge him with all these other crimes. it doesn't make a difference. he is there for life. >> and clinton correctional facility or somewhere else. >> probably somewhere else. that decision hasn't been made yet. would i bet he will not go
7:15 am
back to clinton. he has relationships with guards and other things they are investigating now. owe they will put him in another prison. >> meanwhile, what he is saying ace affecting joyce michigan even and gene palmer. gene palmer doesn't have anything to do with this but joyce mitchell. >> joyce mitchell is in big trouble. she was supposed to be their interim chief and drive them to mexico. there is no doubt about that. this fellow palmer was duped into doing these things. this guy, sweat said he had nothing to do with the escape plans. he was basically bribed with cup cakes, letting him, you know, get tools and so forth into the prison. >> david sweat is caught, unarmed. >> unarmed. >> he had a bag with some pop start, some maps. >> bug spray. >> as he tries to escape into the woods, he is noticed by an officer of the law. >> right. >> shot running into the wood. >> interesting question is are police allowed to do. that do you remember walter scott down in south caroline,
7:16 am
the african-american man running from police and policeman shot him in the back. that officer will be prosecutors in that case this case what happened was this guy david sweat was running, away from the police, through a field, the police, who identified him previously knew it was david sweat. identified him self as police. he didn't stop. the police officer on the run, shot him twice and hit him twice which is remarkable he could do that on the run. unfortunately for sweat policeman he encountered was a marksman. he taught shoot ago built in the police academy and so forth. so he basically went up a against the wrong guy. there will be in charges against the police officer. did he everything right. i looked autopsy the law last night. article 35 of the new york law allows you can use deadly force to stop a fleeing felon that has been charge with or convicted of the felony. the police officer, totally different. for people to equate these two instances as being the same is not correct. what happened in south
7:17 am
carolina was begins the law. a police officer cannot shoot someone in the back fleeing from them. you cannot do that. if it is a felon you can do that to protect the public. the officer in this case will november problem. he is held as a hero. >> reminded why david wet was in prison for first place for shooting a deputy 22 times. >> after he shot him, he ran over him with his car. the police really wanted to get david sweat. >> you bet. >> they got him. >> good for them. 1300 officers, they had involved in this, one of the biggest manhunts in the history of this country, 1300, can you imagine that group ago assembled and they were combing those woods. >> no doubt they were going to find him good to see you we will get more details about what they were thinking. >> will do. >> lets get over to bob kelly. good morning, bob. >> we have sky fox over the scene of this nasty accident on the pennsylvania turnpike as we step aside, i'm looking at this for the first time as well. an overturned dump truck. we have a ton of emergency
7:18 am
crews, obviously trying to rescue someone out of the cab of this truck here. this is all taking place on the pennsylvania turnpike at mid county interchange. it looks like only one shoulder squeezing by. if we can just go to my maps but let's hang with this again, on the westbound pennsylvania turnpike off ramp to go north on the northeast extension. not only do we have the overturn dump truck, it looks like it was either carrying a asphalt or a load of rocks, of some sort here, so there is a spill on the roadway and already a major backup, westbound, lanes of the turnpike barely moving from fort washington over toward the northeast extension. this is on the ramp to head north. even if you are not using that ramp the backup is already out there from fort washington,
7:19 am
heading over towards mid county. we have that down tree, along montgomery drive at belmont avenue. that areas blocked right there on belmont plateau. now to prevent folks from getting stuck in that backup they have closed off the ramps from the schuylkill expressway, to and from, montgomery drive. so coming into or out of the city on the schuylkill expressway the ramps to and from are blocked because of that down tree. i know, dave, we have some sun glare right now but thunder boomers on the way before the day is out. >> that is right, sunnies up here. is there a few cloud out there lets get started with the temperatures. we are in the mid 60's. there is 71 in philadelphia 69 in millville. right along the coast we are in the mid to lower 70's. 84 degrees today. dropping down in the upper 60's, overnight tonight, showers, strong storms are likely especially in the north and western suburbs, this afternoon. strong storms are here.
7:20 am
88 degrees tomorrow. another chance for showers and storms break before the holiday weekend friday and just a few showers, chance of the storm on saturday, in the a complete wash out for weekend. looking at sunday, sun and cloud, fairly nice, 84. eighty-five with mix of sun and cloud on monday. just a few showers this holiday weekend. in the a complete wash out. not a lot of rain we're talking about. >> okay, if you say so. apple music begins dreaming today. we will tell what you set this apart from the rest.
7:23 am
dave warren will tell us, the full forecast in a minute. 7:23. apple is fighting back in 30 minutes, starting at 8:00 tech company will launch streaming music service call, what else, apple music. >> but there is so many music streaming services, out there right now, lauren, tell me, what is the difference here. >> well, okay, we get some music on apple music you won't
7:24 am
get on other services. there is a human dj that will run that 24 hour radio station that is part of the apple music. you can talk to artists directly and service will curator customized some music for you. it is compelling. >> wait how do you talk to the artist. >> it is called the connect feature, i haven't seen it yet, 11:00 o'clock our time what he can down load the new software for apple music on our phones. >> we say 8:00 a.m., that is 8:00 a.m. pacific which is 11:00 a.m. here. >> yes. >> this is a lot more interactive with more human involvement here. >> reporter: apple had to do something because they are so late in the music game, not with down loads but streaming music, we have pan door, google muse being, spotify, tidal.
7:25 am
spotify had 5 million paying subscribers here in the u.s., much more globally. apple says how do we enter this and do it the way in one else has. we have a human element. and they have we have taylor swift 1989 album thaw can only stream on apple music. >> which is big. >> doctor dre, 1992, the chronic, that album, coming to apple music, streaming. then we hear ac/dc, they never put their stuff out for streaming, they said all right, with apple launch go to day we have to give everybody our stuff. so we hear that ac/dc music will be available too. >> i love that. >> does that include the old stuff. >> i'm zooming, i have been reading it is all of their music. >> that is good stuff. >> you have to feel sorry for tidal and jay-z. it is already in the doing very well. then we have apple music coming n i'm not sure how this will work out for them.
7:26 am
>> apple had has a way of doing things that customers like. basically a way, they have the market share here because they have 800 million customers with itunes accounts so their credit card are linked to apple. would you imagine many of them would say we will pay $10 a month. but $120 a year is music that important to you to make that investment to stream whatever you want. something you have already have pandora. >> will you be my friend if i listen to the good old fm radio. >> reporter: no, i do that too because my carries so old. >> there is an app for that too for radio. >> lauren, thanks very much. a appreciate it. >> we will see what happens in a few hours. >> i will check it out for sure, i want to talk to beyonce. >> i want to talk to doctor mike. have you her about this parasites in pools. it is so serious cdc has issued a warning, there mike will tell us what we need to look out for especially with the little ones. then lets get to jen fred

7:29 am
7:30 am
good morning, alex holley. >> good morning, everybody. >> i was going to say we haven't had a good morning. >> yes, can't beat that good dave warren, you cannot stop yesterday's weather. >> the road are a in mess right now. >> yes. >> we will go this side. >> no, not a good morning for folks on the pennsylvania turnpike, and an accident on the westbound side of the turnpike involving an overturn dump truck, and a vehicle. this is all taking place, at the mid county, interchange westbound pennsylvania turnpike, bumper to bumper, from willow grove, all the way over to mid county. the accident is on the ramp from the turnpike, west, to go north on the northeast extension. so all motorist heading westbound this morning, even if you are not heading north on the extension, you are stuck in this backup.
7:31 am
you can head south on the blue route, down toward the schuylkill and dot u turn laverne at the ridge avenue or ridge pike off ramp and that is only way you can get flipped around and backup on the northeast extension but right new look at that 9 miles an hour, we are bumper to bumper from willow grove, all the way over to the extension. this is more than an accident. there is some injuries. we have overturn dump truck trying to rescue the driver of the dump truck and there is a car involved as well as the spill, from whenever or whatever contents of that dump truck there on the ramps. we have a down tree, right at belmont plateau, that is blocking montgomery drive and belmont avenue. now penndot has shut down the ramps to and from montgomery drive, off of the schuylkill expressway. that is sort of like a short cut for folks trying to get over toward martin luther king drive. try to get to the mlk drive
7:32 am
from city avenue from the get go. coming from new jersey north on the 42 freeway you'll feigned delays from the expressway into approaching, the walt whitman bridge. dave warren, we see a hint of sun glare but maybe some storms on the way, before the day is out. >> storms on the way, yes. they are getting closer. north and western suburbs, could be seeing a few showers right now over next few hours. they will drift in the lehigh valley, carbon, monroe county, not these strong storms, later. these are passing showers, this area have of rain is slowly trying to push to the east. grab umbrellas, and head outside to the mild temperature. sixty-five to 70. those showers mainly north and west. ten yesterday. knocked today down to a seven because of the rain and humidity. see that coming back. seventy-one, relative humidity at 78 percent. cooler in the north and western, suburbs. to the south, right around 07 in dover. seventy-one in atlantic city. eighty-four today with strong thunderstorms, especially in
7:33 am
the north and western suburbs, that would be this afternoon, chris and alex, back to you. coming up on 7:33. if you plan to spend anytime in the pool or hot tub this um iser, you will want to listen to. there is a lot of people out there. >> a cdc warning just issued about a parasite that can live in the water for ten full days, even if is there a bunch of chlorine in the water. so short of not going swimming all together there is precautions you need to take. doctor mike is on top of this good morning, doctor. >> good morning. >> this time of the year little ones all want to swim. >> yes, this bacteria, parasite, it is on the rise, and what is scary about it is it cannulas ten days in a chlorinated pool. >> what? >> ten days. >> ten days. fairly resistant to chlorine. >> would i is a very resistant. >> most things in pools can be killed by chlorine, but this is the sobering story. and the reason it is sobering
7:34 am
is this organism can lead to diarrhea. the good news it usually won't kill you. it just makes you very, very sick. but there are problems. i think we have a picture, if we have that of what the little narly things can look like. it can cause watery diary, stomach cramps, dehydration, nausea, vomiting, fever. it can make you sick if you are very old or very young. >> this happened right away, lets say you take the kid to the pool and as soon as they get out all those symptoms start. >> it takes a little while. what happens is if you are in the water and this is in the water then it gets in your mouth, takes a while for to it start to build up in your system and you can get fairly significant diarrhea for up to two weeks. >> tell your kid don't swallow pool water. >> couple have rules of thumb: number one, if you want to try to prevent this from being a problem, make sure the kid and
7:35 am
you get a shower before you get in the pool and certainly if your kids have diarrhea or you have diarrhea, why would you go into a pool. don't do it. and you have to tell your kids, no pea pea or poo, in the water. i tell my son nicholas no in the water when you go there. >> this is disgusting. >> well, it is what it is. so, now... i love nature. parasites and bacteria put bread on the table for me. >> we know. >> but the bottom line is look, i have been telling people to stay away from pools. if you are a a pool operator one, you will make sure if is there a case or an out break you will do hyper clear nate. you load tons of chlorine into that pool. >> that is good for your skin. >> you let it come back to normal before you open up the will pool good normally would i say we're supposed to wash

westbound pennsylvania turnpike, ramp, to head north, on the northeast extension. to add to it, the dump truck was carrying a load of stone, probably heading up to that construction zone on the extension, up near lansdale. that is the black color that you see on the road surface here, it is the stone that was spilled, from the dump truck. what we see also here is no traffic coming by at this point. they have totally shut down, this ramp from the westbound turnpike, to head north, on the northeast extension. i'm in the sure if chopper is listening to us, if you can, if you want to pull out and show us backup and give us a a wider look here but i heard from the turnpike, and they aid that all westbound lanes now, are blocked, heading north on the northeast extension. this backup begins, all the way back at willow grove now. so we are bumper to bumper there will other grove and quickly building over here to the ramp from the westbound

county. anyone leaving the house right now, and intend to go north to lance taylor mid county head right for route 309, we will have no access from the turnpike to head northbound on the extension. all traffic heading west right now has to continue west, out to king of prussia or they are forced to go south on the blue route and that is put ago lot of role where it doesn't wanting to. folks are doing u turn laverne here at ridge pike and that will give you a access to head north up toward lansdale. other problem is down tree, occurring earlier this morning at montgomery drive at belmont avenue. that is right there in the middle of the belmont plateau. to keep that volume from building and folks making u turns and getting stuck, penndot you can see right here they have shut down ramps now from the schuylkill expressway to montgomery drive. that has adding confusion, there is no access to
8:04 am
montgomery drive and they are not able to get to the martin luther king drive. your best bet in and out of the city is schuylkill or kelly drive. if you typically use belmont plateau would i head right for schuylkill or kelly drive from the get go. we have sun glare as well. >> yes, we have a few clouds, some sunshine as well, go further are north and west you'll run into rain showers. thinks where rain activity is right now. these are not storms we are talking about later but they are slowly drift nothing north and western counties there. around berks county, reading, rain drops across lehigh valley and carbon, monroe counties. this areas moving northeast but that area it thissed east. we will see rain coming down north and west. if you there are grab the umbrella as temperatures are in the upper 60's, close to 70. close to philadelphia we are find ago above 07 degrees at this hour. seven is the number today. it was a ten yesterday.
