shore. we'll talk more about that coming up in just little bit. bill? >> sounds good. 8:01 taking a look at your headlines this morning. a fire is under investigation in west oak lane. fear fighters were called to the 2300 block of 76th avenue around 3:30 this morning. we do know that the fire started on the second floor of the home. no one was hurt. and no word yet on what caused the fire. another firefighter is recovering this morning after getting hurt while fighting a fire in kingsessing it happened just before midnight in the 1800 block of south 55th street. officials say the firefighter fell through the second floor. he is expected to be okay. and the cause of that fire is also under investigation. suspected thief is behind bars in delaware. state police arrested 28-year-old anthony lynch of lewes. they say lynch is connected to three robberies in the rehoboth area including at the tanger outlets. update now on a developing

story that we first told you about last night on fox 29 news at 10. tinicum township police officer is recovering after being stabbed in south physical. investigators say the officer was providing a courtesy transport from the motel six in tinicum township to the holiday inn on packer avenue when the male passenger stabbed the officer in the arm. the officer is expected to be okay. and the suspect is in custody. now, what you heard, what you saw all of that hoopla it was celebration. celebration all over philadelphia for the first time since 1941, the temple owls beat the penn state nittany lions and they did it in front of a sold out crowd at lincoln financial field right here in philadelphia. first quarter we thought it would be the same old story that lynch breaking through the hole you see him, aplites finds daylight taking from it 42 yards out and penn estate goes up 10 to nothing. but from that point it was all temple owls.

the made in america festival. it's day two right here in philadelphia. and 70,000 people packed the parkway last night to hear beyonce' sing and now they're headed back for another day of music and fun and our jennifer joyce is live on the parkway this morning with more on what people can expect. jenny, what's going on out there? >> reporter: good morning, bill. well, it's pretty calm and quiet morning here at made in america after what was pretty spectacular show from last night apparently according to the reviews on facebook and twitter. it seemed very positive day one in made in america in just few hours we will be kicking off day two. several large acts to the stage yesterday like del a sol beyonce' was the headliner around 10:30 last night. tonights big act at the weekend with several other acts performing on multiple stages all day long. yesterday as we mentioned bill it was estimated there were about 70,000 people on the concert grounds expecting the same amount today for the sold

it's a new art exhibit and it's sparking conversations about a serious issue that's affecting tens of thousands of families in our area. the exhibit is called back to school. it just opened to the public on friday at gravy studio and gallery on cecil b. moore avenue. the pictures tell the stories of parents, students and teachers affected by philadelphia's public school system. organizers say the exhibit reveals what happens to an individual who spends most of their day in an institution that is quote constantly failing them. joining us now talk more about the exhibit and how it developed collaborators sarah mow lynn ski and photographer is a who are hardy. ladies, good morning. >> good morning. >> we saw some of the pictures. but tell us what people will see when they get a chance to come over and see this exhibit. >> well, they will see a collection of photography and they will see photographs that show the buildings that sit abandoned and they will also see portraits that sarah mow lynn ski and lyndell have taken of people that this is directly

impacted. >> this is a kind of think you've both been doing document trees and shooting pictures and kind of exploring this. why was it so important to do it to get message it there and kind of spread what's real in the schools? >> i think there's thousands of people in philadelphia that care deep and about the education system here, we want to see a fairly funded education system in philadelphia. and as artists we recognize the importance of using our creative abilities to really help continue the dialogue around why it's important that we have fairly funded schools in philadelphia. that was one of the main reasons why we wanted to come together don this. >> it's interesting you mentioned funding quickly and on-going battle. do you view yourself as change agents as well as artists? showing it to them to initiate change. >> there's been so many organizes like pccy and power and psu, philadelphia student union, i mean lot of organization that is have been fighting for fair funding formula for years, and, you

know, pennsylvania is one of three states that doesn't have one and so i don't necessarily see myself as change agent but i definitely see myself as somebody that deeply cares, i'm a parent, and i definitely want to spread the message as much as possible. >> i see you both as change agents. looking at the pictures much that's why i asked that. i think all of us know perhaps need more funding in the schools. >> yes. >> do you think it has a larger impact when you see it? people are force to do kind of deal with what that funning means. >> i think it does. also, when you hear it, because sarah and lyndell have also been shooting footage of people and taking interviews from people that have been impacted you also in the gallery you'll hear audio from them. >> exactly. yeah, this is something that's been happening for years really. you know, so i think lot of communities in philadelphia are ready to speak about this. ready to be seen and be heard. >> just had the big opening. how was the response? >> i think it was --

being held. the county clerk is spending the labor day weekend in isolation at the carter county detention center for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples. she claims issuing the licenses to same sex partners goes against her christian beliefs. her husband says she's doing just fine while in jail. hundreds of people pack an auditorium in vancouver to honor two syrian boys who drowned. the two children died after piling into an overloaded boat in turkey. their death sparked worldwide outrage after an on-going refugee crisis in syria. the boys aunt said the children should have never died. one person who attended the memorial service said it's time for the world to wake up. >> i really hope that their deaths will create -- people around the world will look the a this and realize we're not doing what we can. what we should, what we need to. >> family members lit candles to remember the two boys.

a woman in portland oregon says a local barbershop discriminated against her because she wanted a short haircut. casey marshall visited the rose way barbershop hoping to get a buzz cut. she claims the owner marty opinions denied her service telling her she couldn't get the cut because it was quote a men's cut. however, opinions says that he and another barber in the shop simply didn't understand what type of cut some marshall really wanted. >> i think that there's a lot of people in the world and a lot of barbers in portland that don't want to serve people that don't conform to gender stereotypes. >> they want haircut i'll give them a haircut as long as i can understand what they want. >> spokesperson at the oregon state bureau of labor and industry says marshall has yet to file a complaint adding that no investigation can be made unless a complaint is filed. checking in on the weather. so far so good. we've been looking in to areas around area. trenton, new jersey there's the capitol, glowing gold in the

you're putting prevent over your entire jar. you need to get off of those types of convention al programs consider using organic lawn program through your lawn service or whether you're going to your local garden center and buying your own law fertilizers. as far as for your pets concern, i mean there's lot of things do you care to cep your yard safe for your pets. one like i said use organic lawn program. the other thing too this will sound like common sense make sure you store your lawn and garden fertilizers chemicals whatever you're using store it in save, secure place. the aspcpa gets tens of thousands of calls every year their dog got into a bag of fertilizers or chemicals. you can get into unsafe conditions. make sure you're storing them in a seive place. you also want to make sure that you don't have standing water in your -- every time it rains it doesn't puddle up. those staning waters those puddles they're breeding ground for parasites and mosquitoes. you want to it void that. you want to avoid any kind of mulches that contain cocoa or

actress sally field and author stephen king. the two are among the recipients of this year's national medal of arts awards. the white house honoring sally field for her support for gay rights and public health. they say the actress has shown fearlessness and empathy on screen and off as for king, his story telling attracted his honor. the white house noting king's analysis of human nature in his writings and his ability to thrill audiences around the world. 18 other others will receive awt the white house ceremony on thursday as well as three institutions. aretha franklin is earning some respect in a federal courtroom. the 72 year old singer convinced a judge to block a documentary about her airing at the tell your ride film festival. this taking place hours before the film entitled amazing grace was set to air. the film focuses on a concert performed by franklin in 1972 which franklin says the festival never got her permission to use. attorneys for the film festival

been turned unside down. not only does cancer take a physical toll on the body but an emotional toll on the mind and spirit. >> the fear stopped me in my track. i was unable to function. >> but then tammy started taking yoga with michelle and good and to feel change. >> this empowers me. this makes me, this is my time. this is -- this is all these people with me who have been through the same thing, and they're all empowering and they're all warriors and they inspire me. >> michelle took interest in yoga when they are husband jonathan was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006. >> we had yoga practice together every morning for couple of years, and i saw how much it helped him. >> after jonathan lost his battle in 2009, michelle knew what she had to do. >> i decided to make this my life's mission. i left my career in the performing arts and decided this is really the work i needed to
