you by xfinity the future of awesome. ♪ right now gone in near minutes much thousands of tickets to see pope francis at independence mall snatched up immediately. good evening, i'm lucy noland. >> i'm dawn timmeney. iain is off tonight. some of those free tickets already popping up online for sale. fox 29's chris o'connell is live at independence mall tonight. chris, we're talking some big bucks here. >> reporter: they are definitely the hottest ticket in town, dawn. all 10,000 passes for pope francis' appearance here at independence mall were gobbled up in a matter of two minutes. and it took just about that long for scalpers to put those free tickets online to sell for small fortune. >> i just logged on at 12:00 on the dot and got them. >> reporter: kate's prayers were answered when she got this confirmation scoring the most coveted tickets in the city. free passes to the pope's

september 26th visit to independence mall. but most were not as lucky. >> they were sold out online. >> reporter: couldn't get them. >> couldn't get them. >> reporter: in fact more than 400,000 tried to get passes online but by 12:0 2:00 p.m. they sold out. gone. or so we thought. just minutes after those free tickets were given out, they were right back on the black-market selling online for big bucks. on craigslist we found $20,500 each and on e-bay, two tickets plus seven at a passes were going for a whopping $1,500. e-bay has since told us it is now removing the listings since they violate the site's policies. >> i think it's kind of scum me, but people are trying to take advantage of the system. >> even mayor nutter was taken back when we told him how scalpers are moving in on the papal turf. >> in the neighborhood i grew up that's trifle link. it's just trifle link. >> reporter: there are those

using luck for good like this guy on craigslist from new york. he along with this two friends told us over a web cam they are holding a contest. awarding a pair of passes to two lucky pilgrims with the best he is glare we want somebody that really wants to go to see the pope to getting to scene the pope without having to dish out tons of money. >> reporter: get your laptops ready. here we go again. free passes for two more papal events will be available online tomorrow. 10,000 passes for saturday's papal festival will be available online starting at 4:00 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, and at 8:00 o'clock tomorrow night 10,000 passes for sunday's papal mass will be distributed online. of course, there is a link to that site on our website fox 2 29.com. so get ready. a lost people want those tickets. lucy? >> they're going to go fast. thank you, chris. breaking a british airways plane erupts into flames on the runway.

the jumbo jet was about to take off from las vegas to london tonight. when fire started just shooting from it. look at that smoke. passengers had to escape on the emergency slides. all 159 and 13 crew members did get off safely. airport spokesperson says two passengers ended up at the hospital for minor injuries. authorities are still trying to figure out what happened here. on your radar, we just can't escape this heat. another hot one. live look from wilmington tonight after our second day in the 90s and scott we will officially hit our sixth heat wave of the year tomorrow? >> yeah, that's the way it's looking right now, dawn and lucy. take a look at the high temperatures today along the i-95 corridor. 93 degrees in d.c. a new record tied there. 94 in philadelphia. 95 new york city. a record. and 96 degrees in boston that 94 in fact was 2 degrees away from a record high in philadelphia for today's date. look at the numbers right now. upper 70s still kind of steamy if you're stepping out.

look at the humidity. it's climbing so that means we'll have some low level moisture and some patchy fog developing overnight. coming up we'll talk much more about that heat wave, also, some relief with a storm system that will bring some much needed rain along with cooler temperatures. you can see it's off to the west coming up new information on the timing and amount of rain to expect. back to you. >> all right, scott, thank you. in burlington county firefighters now have a forest fire under 100% contained. the pine barrens fire has scorched about a thousand acres so far. it started burning yesterday near woodland township and those flames quickly spread. this was the view from skyfox this morning. firefighters continued to battle the stubborn fire. police in radnor township are staying on top of the robbery of a jogger this week. 19 year old woman told investigators the man mugged her right in the afternoon. fox 29's shawnette wilson is at the radnor township police department. shawnette, investigators want to not only find him but what he toll from her.

>> reporter: yeah, lucy, police are calling this brazen crime of opportunity. this victim was out doing what many people do. she was jogging. it was during the day, and she had her iphone with her. she's luck sean hurt but police consider the suspect dangerous. >> that's crazy. >> reporter: kristen got unnerving news while owl jogging this evening. a 19 year old woman was robbed while out for a run just like kristen. >> i mean you're not thinking somebody will be following you about to rob you. >> especially around here. >> get your work out. around 1:00 monday afternoon 19-year-old was mug at bailey and fitzwaters road in the brain mauer section of radnor township a block away from kristen jogs. >> especially like in the middle of the day. just going for a run broad daylight. >> yeah. >> that's crazy. >> radnor township police say the victim is a college student who was jogging through a neighborhood on the way to a local park when the suspect approached her. police say she was wearing ear buds and didn't hear the guy coming. >> she ended up feeling somebody grab her by the waist, um, pull

her backwards as she began to struggle, the male pulled himself away from her and grabbed her cell phone and her ear buds. >> reporter: people in the neighborhood where it happened are stunned. >> i have 18-year-old daughter in college right now she comes home on the weekends. i obviously don't like it. >> my son walks this way to the bus stop up here. i'll make him walk up conestoga. it's nerve racking. we're out here all the time. >> reporter: cell phone thefts are common everywhere but they haven't had any recent incidents like this here. >> they get a lot of money for these cell phones. it costs this guy nothing. gets a hundred or $200 to wipe the out on the sell it on the black-market. i was on website where she sell used things local and probably over 30 phones since this incident happened. >> reporter: and police believe the suspect may be from the area. they say the victim's cell phone has not been used yet. police are looking at surveillance video from residents cameras in the

neighborhood to see fit captured him. lucy. >> hope fell they get him soon. police made arrest in deadly shooting outside the theater living arts on south street where rap concert was about to get underway. prosecutors have charged 28-year-old tie lee wilbur for the murder of john green. green was waiting outside the venue on south street for rapper lil durk's concert when they got into a stuff and wilbur faces. he faces murder and other charge. >> chester county community is reeling tonight. five-year-old woman known for helping others is one of two people hit and killed by a taxi here in philadelphia. fox 29's dave schratwieser spoke to her heart broken co-workers. >> we loved having her as part of our family wean truly going to miss her. >> reporter: somber mood hung over the ymca in phoenixville tuesday as members and staff tried to deal with the tragic death of 25-year-old amanda. >> she was a wonderful vibrant young woman, um, had her whole life in front of her. she lived life to the fullest.

>> reporter: amanda and brian botti of baltimore died early monday weren't when they were hit by a taxi cab crossing broad street near arch. both had been attending the made in america festival. >> any time you hear something like that happening, it's just tragic. you know, for everybody involved. the families and friends and everything. >> reporter: man today lived with her familiar until phoeni phoenixville and started working at the ymca as an intern in 2013. her mother and two sisters also worked here. >> all i can do is put them in my prayers. >> reporter: police are still investigating the crash. the 41-year-old cab driver from rosemont taxi stopped at the scene but had to be hospitalized with chest pains. witnesses told police the driver may have been going as much as 50 miles per hour in a 25 miles per hour speed zone. >> very difficult for everybody involved and you just hope nothing like that ever happens to you or a loved one. report. >> investigators tell our dave

schratwieser it could be several more days before they have new information about that fatal crash. developing to night, kim davis is out of jail. the kentucky county clerk who refuses to issue same sex marriage licenses says shell back at work this week. us district judge david bunt hook put her in jail six days ago set her free saying she cannot interfere with her depth tuesday who are issuing marriage licenses. a cheering crowd of supporters along along with her husband and gop presidential candidate mike huckabee greeted davis as she walked out of jail today. tearful davis took to the stage and she says her fight is not over. (inaudible). >> i love ya'll. thank you so much. >> davis must comply witness supreme court ruling and not interfere with her depth tease issuing marriage licenses or she might go back to jail. but her attorney says she will not go against her religious

beliefs. happening right now, a philadelphia bridge rehabilitation project making things more difficult for overnight drivers. penndot work on the spring garden street bridges will shut some lanes on the schuylkill expressway tonight through friday between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. one eastbound lane will close between spring garden and 30th street. more closures and detours are coming near several on-ramps on thursday and friday. ♪ this guy terrifying a packed mcdonald's. police show up and try tackling him. pepper spray even a taser doesn't work. why he refused tolling quietly. a mom calls 911 pleading for help saying her sons are trying to kill her and her husband. >> how she says her husband distracted them give her time to call for help. >> plus, cars crunched together an entire parking garage. police say targeted by one

♪ >> police are after a man they say robbed northwest philadelphia pharmacy. surveillance cameras were rolling inside this rite aid in chestnut hill sunday afternoon. investigators say this guy hasn'ted a note to the clerk saying he had a handgun and wanted money from the register. the clerk opened the register of the man grabbed the cash. he even went back and demanded several packs of cigarettes before taking off.

just 18 days believe it or not until pope francis arrives in philadelphia. but tonight he's behind a radical change to century's old church practice. catholics looking to dissolve their marriages will no longer be subjected to a long and sometimes costly process. the pope's announcing new reforms today that will allow for fast track decisions eliminating the requirement that all annulment decisions must get a second judgment. despite the changes pope francis insisting that marriages are permanent and that the new regulations are not intended to help dissolve them. he says it's meant to speed up the process for the faithful to find justice. plenty of people are excited about the pope's visit to philadelphia. one man in particular is making him a permanent part of his life. fox 29 photojournalist bill rohrer introduces to us a very dedicated francis fan. >> i always go with the dark colors first. >> reporter: will majors there's nothing like getting a

new tattoo. >> tattoos have become more and more noticeable. more socially acceptable. >> reporter: his body is pretty much covered. >> i have somewhere between 70 and a hundred hours on my body right now. >> that some people will get something on their arm and feel unbalanced because there's nothing on their other arm. >> reporter: his new tattoo a way to commemorate a special event. >> we're going to do a little pope hat the 2015 underneath of it. >> i was raised roman kathy lick it's also part a seat of it's monumental. i love philly. philly is home. it's more than just cheesesteaks and mummers parades. it's community, it's culture. i love the city, and i figure what better way to commemorate such an event than you know pope tattoo. >> reporter: millions of people expected during the pope's visit later this month, owner tim pang burn is hoping for more business. >> some of the guys are talking about, upping, running some specials on -- some simple

the works to get consumers their money back from a troubled philadelphia furniture store. it's called furniture sir plus. earlier this summer jeff cole reported consumers paid thousands for a new furniture which they never got. the attorney general sued the store and its owners after the report. the deal is not cut but includes a cash and carry sale of all furniture in the lancaster avenue store and the sale of the building itself. that furniture sale could start later this week. fox 29 investigates, of course, will keep you posted. a chilling 911 call shows a mother's terror. moments after she says her own sons attacked her during the call the georgia woman pleads for help saying her boys are trying to kill her and her husband. fox's porsche bruner breaks down what happened. >> reporter: you can hear the desperation in yvonne irvin's voice hiding in a bedroom as she pleaded help from a 911 operator saturday morning.

>> they beat me up. they beat him hup. they try to kill us. >> she told the operator her own sons cameron and christopher just 17 and 22 years old admitted they put xanax in the couple's drinks then waited for the couple to fall asleep before they attacked. >> they tried to strangle us and shoot us and they put xanax in our food. >> the call came from their home on forbes drive just before 8:00 a.m. when police arrived they found zachary ervin covered in blood. police say his son stabbed him several times and beat his head with a shotgun. after they strangle the mother. >> hello?

good evening, everybody. a brand new project begins tomorrow on i-95. the northbound lanes of 95 ramps to the blue route will be closed midday and then on the overnight for the next couple of weeks. folks will have to go up to the next interchange which is ridley park, flip the u-turn laverne and gain access to the blue route from the southbound side. that's going to cause huge delays during the mid days over the next couple of weeks. if you use septa new schedules in play for the regional rails all of the city suburban victory transit divisions so make sure you have a new timetable ready for tomorrow morning's rush hour. we kick it off bright and early tomorrow. we'll see you at

>> now your winning lottery numbers. ♪ >> so check this out. minnesota dentist has to walk through protesters to get back to work today. this comes weeks after he sparked global backlash for killing cecil the lion. walter palmer was named in late july as the hunter who killed cecil in zimbabwe. palmer now says he feels safe enough to return to work and that his staff and patients want him back. palmer says he believes he acted legally and was stunned to learn that his hunting party had killed a treasured animal that

was lured out of protect. cecil was a fixture in a national park and had gps collar as part of oxford university research. the city of baltimore has reached a $6.5 million settlement with the family of a man fatally hurt in police custody. freddie gray s spine was nearly said on april 12th. after his arrest officers put him in the back of a prisoner transport van. he died a week later setting off protests and rioting with cries of misconduct within the police force. all six officers involved in the arrest face charges. the cement needs approval still from board that oversees city spending and that meeting is set for tomorrow morning. the woman who survived an on air shooting that killed 2tv journalists is out of the hospital. vicky gardner the executive director of the smith mountain lake chamber of commerce was talking about tourism on life tv when gunfire rang out back on august 26th. the gunman ambush wdbj cam ran

heroin. when a couple of officers tried to stop him he took off with his baby in his arms. passed the child off to his mom. police caught him and found that, 92 bags of heroin on him. the baby just fine. a close call for a member of the reading police department over the holiday weekend. one of them seriously injured during routine patrol. >> tonight major fundraiser is on to help cover some of the medical costs because fox 29's brad sattin reports insurance doesn't cover it when the injured officer is a police k9. >> reporter: three-year-old trooper here reporting for duty on a tuesday night with his handler officer joshua faust just last year trooper graduated to the k9 unit with three-year-old cody. cody is the tan colored dog who nearly died friday night. >> when something like this happens it's very tragic and it's kind of like a kid, a child, and it really affects you in that way. >> reporter: here's cody at three-year-old belgium with his

trainer officer judge hutchinson towing day and night. it was a routine call on friday to southwest middle school. a door was found unlocked. possibly intruders inside. cody was walking on elevated platform near some steps. >> at that time he had fallen over off the stairwell about 15 to 20 feet down to the concrete floor below. >> reporter: no one was inside but cody was in bad shape now bleeding internally and medivacked to penn vet at the university of pennsylvania. >> he was listed in critical condition when he got down to penn. >> reporter: cody was one of three dogs to join the department last year funded by the non-profit group friends of the reading police k9 unit. they raised about 8,000 doltz to get cody and now his medical bills are stacking up. the berks county community foundation manages the fundrai fundraising. >> there was going to be significant costs. we're not sure what it will be yet. >> reporter: his care and cost will continue. we couldn't visit cody tonight but here's a photo yes he's already starting to move around and we're sure he loves his
