new jersey. this is where the heaviest rain is right through atlantic city, right through atlantic county there through cumberland county around millville. this is of this band of heavy rain pushing to the south. heavy relative to what's coming down. not that heavy but this is heaviest rain we can find this morning. philadelphia still some light rain coming down, to the north here's that last bit of rain right south of reading already ended in allentown and through upper montgomery and upper bucks county. that's where it is right now. look at the computer forecast. pushing it to the south. so by 12:00 o'clock, we are clearing up there's a little sunshine even that's cooler air coming in so the temperatures will be dropping especially overnight tonight the rain is done. looking a little more sunshine and clearing skies overnight tonight. temperature wise, it's a cool rain, but not freezing. temperatures are just above freezing in allentown up to 38. philadelphia is at 43. maybe a little colder in mount pocono and hazelton but the rain is done there. so watch for little slick spots that roadway still wet. it will stay into the 40s here around philadelphia and where

that rain continues to come down mid to low 40s. holding steady for awhile but then colder air comes inform those numbers are in the seven day forecast. i'll have that coming up. >> sounds good, thanks, dave. new this morning in your headlines, one person is dead after an accident overnight in burlington county. it happened along i-29 i-295 in bordentown, new jersey. where police say a pickup truck lost control and ended up in a ditch. now part of the highway had to be shut down for several hours and currently the cause of the crash is under investigation. 8:02 right now. mother and two-year-old child are fighting for their lives after a birthday party celebration takes a very tragic turn when they were struck by a van. it happened in west philadelphia. our jenny joyce right now is live at children's hospital of philadelphia where the two-year-old is in critical condition. good morning, jenny. >> reporter: good morning, karen. yeah, two-year-old remains in critical here at chop while the toddler's mom is fighting for her life over at penn presbyterian hospital. according to police total of four family members were struck

by a dodge ram van yesterday it happened around 5:15 p.m. on the 4900 block of parkside avenue in west philadelphia. apparently the family was leaving a 75th birthday party for their grandmother. the woman who is critically injured was holding her two-year-old when they were both struck. police say the 77-year-old driver who hit them stayed at the scene and told police he was trying to go around a double parked car. he didn't see the family. church minister at the party told fox 29 that they are relying on their faith and trust that the victims will pull through. >> we starting to prism some of our family went to the hospital and we couldn't praising the lord. we didn't stop. >> we believe in healing and we believe he'll bring the children through. >> reporter: the two other people struck a 25-year-old woman and a six-year-old girl were also transported to the hospital and are in stable condition. no word on whether or not the driver will face any charges. bill? >> thanks, jenny.

taking a look at a... >> story unfolding this morning in western pennsylvania. a police officer was shot and killed after responding to a call about a domestic dispute. investigators say the officer confronted this man that you're seeing on the screen. 31-year-old ray shelter, jr. they say shelter was involved in a dispute last night at a home in new florence between pittsburgh and johnstown. investigators say shelter shot the officer and then took off. he was captured just a few hours ago. the officer who was killed has been identified as saint claire township officer lloyd reid. reid died at the hospital. he had more than 20 years experience on the police force. happening today, a fundraiser in south jersey for a devoted paramedic who lost her battle with breast cancer. 28-year-old rebecca scott was diagnosed in may of last year. she died in october. earlier this month her family accepted an award naming rebecca outstanding paramedic for the state of new jersey.

the burlington city police are holding several fundraisers in her honor and memory. they'll be selling t-shirts and holding a benefit today at 4:00 p.m. at burlington city hall. for more information you can just go to our website, that's fox29.com and look at the as seen on tv section. 8:05, philadelphia police are searching for a suspect after a robbery overnight in northeast philadelphia. officers were called to the wawa at knights and red lion road just before 2:00 o'clock this morning. police say the man walked into the store with a gun demanding cash. thankfully no one was hurt. and 8:05. big turn out our area for small business saturday shopping% taking advantage of all the amazing deals out there while supporting local businesses and of course it's the biggest shopping weekend of the entire year. it's not over yet. of course, the cyber monday deals i've been buying stuff, they've already started not even monday. so keeping your identity safe should be top of mind when we're doing all of this online

welcome back. it's the quietest christmas music you've ever heard in your entire life i almost sounds like the sound of silence. beautiful our christmas tree on the park wage it is 8:12. let's take a look what's trending right now. thousands of people talking about this story. it's pretty heartbreaking when you see this picture. you may have seen it on your own facebook feeds. this was posted on facebook friday morning witness caption "this is what happens when you don't shut up!!" well of course this gained worldwide attention negatively. notoriety and created a social media frenzy. it has been shared hundreds of thousands of times. it was posted to the facebook page that longs to woman named katie brown and according to her page she lives in south daytona. the police department there has received hundreds of phone calls from all around the country even the world including people from canada and germany and australia. police say they are investigating. the woman has hasn't lived in that area for more than a year. they believe she now lives in

make you use our hash tag fox 29 philly and post them on our 29 facebook page. >> looking at coats there's a wonderful coat weather drive going on because we have the alumni members of the alpha phi physical fraternity these men have been doing a great job raising money ever since september to buy coats and gloves and hats for so many kids who could really use them. they raised more than $3,000 through a gofundme page. saturday they took children from west philadelphia and kensington and chester to the burlington coat factory in center city. the children got to pick out the coat that they like to keep them warm all winter long. nicely done. all right. coat weather out there right now? maybe not this minute. raincoat but later on tonight, dave warren, taking a live look outside. we've got temperatures in the 30s even the 20s possiblely? >> 30's and 20s. yeah, that's actually the place that we will see it there. up across the lehigh valley. so raincoats, umbrellas you need that this morning at least for the next two or three hours.

this rain is trying to work its way through the area. it's pretty much done north of this line here just north of philadelphia but to the south still light to moderate rain. some areas of little heavier batches of rain moves through. not all that heavy everywhere. just very very light. low rain amounts but you can see darker green color right through dover, millville, atlantic city this is a band little heavier moving through. it will push through cape may county and southern delaware. philadelphia just some light rain coming down right now. but this this line we're talking about. it's pretty much through berks county. moving through montgomery county and bucks county. it's done. it pushed out of the lehigh valley and the poconos rain is done here as this pushes south. areas north we'll see that rain end first. lasting a little longer here across the south and eastern suburb much this picked up by the computer forecast. about 8:00 o'clock. we have the clouds it's starting to clear up where it's drying out. rain is done but the rain continues for at least just an hour or two. it's cleared from the south and eastern suburbs.

the clouds will slowly start to clear out as well. despite the sun coming out here it will be a little cooler. cold breeze is pick up it clears up tonight if that wind dice down could be a much colder start tomorrow morning. no 40s into the 30s and 20s. at least it will be dry though and the clouds to our south they don't move far some of that rain could work its way back into the area this coming week. 30ing and 40s that's the temperatures here this morning. but it only climbs into the upper 40s briefly with a little sunshine. then we're into the upper 30s to night. waking up tomorrow morning to temperatures down below freezi freezing. pretty much right at the freezing mark in philadelphia but colder north and west. chill in the air to the south. happening today media good thing in the afternoon santa's parade 2:00 o'clock cloudy there's that little bit of sunshine trying to push that temperature up a degree. drops tonight into the 40 with a cool breeze colder air is coming back. so these temperatures will try to climb just a bit. the rain is coming down. it's above freezing. don't expect any ice or winter kind of precipitation out there. it's 28 in mount pocono but dry

other people. he was originally from massachusetts, however, from melrose, massachusetts and that's where he grew up with olympic med list and former figure skater nancy kerrigan. >> as kids, he was literally like a little brother to me. every day and we trained together always, always putting someone else first. yeah. not surprised that that's the career path he took. >> she's so emotional for a part of it. this is the suspect the alleged gunman 57 years old. his name is robert lewis deer described by his neighbors as a loner. originally from north carolina. but living in colorado. he's accused of using as assault rifle to be to go on that shooting spree at the clinic he surrendered after five hour standoff with police. 8:32. we've got no word yet on what spark a three alarm fire in northampton county. we first brought you this story

as breaking news yesterday morning. right here on fox 29 weekend. it happened in the 1500 block of irene street in bethlehem. two people rescued when the fire broke out. flames quickly spread through the building and 40 people are now displaced. the observation deck at one liberty place is now open to the public. it's called philly from the top and it offers a look at the city of brotherly love like you've never seen it before. take look of you can see visitors you hit head up 57 stories to see this view. you can see all over the city. all over the area from 883 feet in the air. deck is open 365 days a year from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. get over there and check it out. >> 8:33. finally some good news when it comes to sports. not all hope is lost because we still got those owls. thank you temple. temple owls beat uconn last night 27-three. the first 10 win season for that team since 1970.

kathy this is some of the decorations. thank you. that's all she does, puts up her tree and decorations. pretty darn nice. ♪ good morning i'm dr. mike with thanksgiving just behind us, and the holiday season upon us, it's time to feel grateful for what we have. it's important because not only does it make you feel better, but it's good for your heart. a new study showed that if you feel grateful, you have less chances of having a problem with this machine. everyone out there, be thankful. in a new study it was found that most child care centers are not letting their kids outdoors for the required 60 minutes a day. this is really important because kids need to be outdoors to pl play. not only for their mental well-being but also they perform better in school.

so make sure your kids get out at least 60 minutes a day when they're at their child care center. if you're like me and you like your cup of joe in the morning, if you're pregnant you can safely have up to one or two cups of coffee a day. that's what a new study shows. you just want to make sure that you don't have too strong a coffee and no more friends than two cups a day. i'm dr. mike, have a great weekend. ♪

♪ welcome back. live look at wilmington, delaware. it will be all right. maybe when you go down to longwood gardens so many fabulous things happen down there in the delaware area. the southern chester county what a great day to go out there. in the news this is a story that sounds horrifying but there is a twist at the end. there's an upsetting story out of california. police are looking for a person who buried a baby alive. this newborn was found buried under asphalt along a bike path in compton. she was wrapped in hospital blanket and actually cold to the touch. officials do not know how long that little baby girl had been buried there but say it was a miracle she was found when she was. a neighbor heard the baby's cries and called police.

>> woman thought she heard a cat and the other one said, no, it sounds like a baby crying. >> why would the mother throw a near born baby, like, he could like -- she can at least like put her in the foster care or something. >> wow, that baby is in stable condition thankfully, and is expected to make a full recove recovery. police obviously are trying to figure out who abandoned the infant. also, thousands of people are without power this morning after severe ice storm in central oklahoma. you can see what they're dealing with right now. so heavy the ice it was actually pulling down the power lines and causing the trees to snap. officials say they won't know the ex tepp of the damage until later today. at least six people died in accidents related to that ice storm. so you look at that. we're thankful we don't have any of that in our area yet. we know it's only a question of time, dave warren. you're saying some more warmer temperatures somewhere in the forecast. >> in the forecast y, warmer temperature.

that will come with some more rain. first we have to get rid of what's out there now looking for sunshine, bill is, come on sunshine. we have to get rid of the rain first. that's the first thing we got to do that rain still coming down out there. mainly from philadelphia to the south. little heavier batch just moved through atlantic city but this line that continues to push south. that's the end of the heavier rain and this one last little bit here that is the dry air pushing in once that moves through things will start to dry out and warm up just just little bit with a little sunshine. little heavier here just through cape may county. now watchin watching this this g through atlantic city right along the parkway here cross the delaware bay and just south of dover. starting to break up new castle county. still light here around philadelphia but some breaks around lower merion and this is all the way through phoenixville now moving along the turnpike. north of the turnpike the rain pretty much done. ending just got to wait for that sunshine and that will try to push these temperatures up a bit. but here it is. it's picked up by the computer forecast here. this line of rain will continue

to move south and we clear up by about two or 3:00 o'clock. except for maybe cumberland county, cape may county, atlantic city and all of delaware here still fairly cladism sunshine tries to push temperatures up but cold air coming in. cold front moving through. so the wind picks up and keeps the temperatures down. only go into the upper 40s here throughout the afternoon. but there is mostly clear. look to the south that rain is not far away and it's going work its way back into the area this coming week. 30s and 40s now. mount pocono at 28. but it's dried out so things are fairly clear as far as the temperatures go once it drops below freezing the roads should be dry by then just ab little careful, though, the drops quickly you might have slippery spots if things didn't drain well enough with that rain that came down last night. 43 in philadelphia now. mid to low 40s to the south. upper 40s think afternoon despite sunshine. these showers will end within the next hour or so may last longer to the south and east. but then our focus once we dry out on tuesday. by tuesday and wednesday, a
