after 4:00 this morning. we have some video of investigators going arounds and coming this area for evidence trying to piece together exactly what happened here. they tell us all three may have been involved in a robbery earlier and police did mott have additional information to share about that. and it's unclear how severe the stabbings were and how the victims are doing. initial reports indicate the suspect may have been wearing a purple sweatshirt and tan jacket. police would like to hear from you if you saw or heard anything. karen. >> thank you. it is exactly 8:04 now. taking a look at top stories we're learning more about this man and woman accused in a deadly assault in california that the feds are now calling a terror attack. the fbi says it has uncovered evidence of extreme planning by the two suspects. syed farook and tashfeen malik. malik who came to this country on fiancee visa, posted a

message on facebook pledging support for isis. it's unknown if isis ordered the attack or they were inspired by the terror group. one thing is certain the couple was not on our government's radar. >> there's more than 900 active probes of isis-related individuals in all 50 states. >> and this was not one of them? >> no, it was not. >> 14 died, dozens more were injured after the couple wept on the shooting spree at a holiday party at a social services facility in san beern adean owe, california. the suspects were killed later by police. >> the media was given a firsthand look of the apartmen apartment. fbi receipts for evidence taken and school id, each a child's crib. of course, they had a 6-month-old baby. they had a daughter and left her with i rel riff prior to going on the attack.

inspired by isis. no indication that there was any link to isis. this kind of home grown or lone wolf terrorism. how do you combat something not linked to larger organization. >> what investigators will look for both on the ground and from intelligence agencies domestically and over seas is looking for any connection that they may have had from their home in california to an over seas either isis oral kid ain this case an isis connection likely and looking foring things that inspire them to take action against americans. >> one of the things that sfood out to me, these individuals were in the country legally. no tind occasions they were being watched and had been through background investigations to come into the country in the first place. should we be alarmed that all the safeguards in place could not catch individuals who clearly were planning this for a while. >> it comes back it a number of areas. the first area will be community policing contact on

the streets. see something, say something. and that information needs to move to the right analyst and right agencies and it's not really profiling but putting filters in place, if individuals come into the ulingts and hit certain triggers or would what i like to call trip wires they alert interesting by law enforcement or intelligence agency that look at these individuals who have not yet commit aid crime but may be something to look at to prevent and disrepresent before something happens. >> maybe controversial. you talk about see something, say something. the mother by all accounts lived in the house. there ways bomb making facility in the house and guns all over the place and yet all reports say she knew nothing. is that believable. is that something that should be looked further into obviously. >> there's a couple area thad need to be looked at in california and then shared across the law enforcement community in the united states.

see something, say something from cultural perspective sometimes difficult to put faith into law enforcement and trust law enforcement based on how law enforcement may be handled in other countries. so idea is collecting as much information and intelligence as you can through interviews you conduct people, family members, co-workers, people in the khu khunty, neighbors, that will allow us to paint a picture of what was going on and then look across the country and see is there anything similar to hat we need to look into. >> i saw a shocking statistic of the last 360 days, 209 of them had some sort mass shooting. four or more people shot and injured. not all of them expected to overseas. do we shift focus to home grown lone wolf terrorism. it doesn't seem everyone has the ipt national at connection. >> whether it's domestic terrorism, home grown terroris
