is "good day philadelphia" weekend. ♪ and good morning, everyone. it is as mike said a little bit of a chilly day. we'll get the details of it. this "good day philadelphia" weekend. i'm bill anderson. this is mike masco. good morning, sir. >> good morning. >> hope all is well. >> everything is okay. it's going get really cold. >> we're going to get the details. >> first, both karen and dave are off today. we'll hold it down. >> we can do this. >> we can handle this. >> we can handle it. >> it will get cold, really cold. really cold. you know how we say this will be the coldest air mass of the season? we say that three or four times a year. this is going to be the coldest air mass of the season. you have not seen winter yet. wait until i show you these temperatures. beautiful shot in center city right now the clouds are building back in. so we'll see some sunshine early this morning. and we're going to quickly over the clouds. take look at the temperatures over the delaware valley 30s in most spots. the city 36 degrees. 20s as you get well to the north

and west. cool conditions, you go up towards the lehigh valley, most readings are into the 30s and these are areas that we'll get into snow showers by later this afternoon. now, area of low pressure down to the south. we'll watch this run up the coast and it will produce some light snow showers right around two, 3:00 o'clock across the region. temperatures that will be into the 30s and then the arctic front belows through here late tonight going into tomorrow morning. monday morning's temperatures into the 20s with wind chills into the single digits and it's brutal as we get into the tuesday morning time frame. so this is just a chunk of some arctic air. it's conversational snow today along our coastal points and to the north and to the west and we are going to talk more about that in just a little bit. good morning, sue serio. >> taking a look at weekend wendy for this sunday. it looks pretty good but it's on the chilly side. she's got a nice warm fleece on and it's going to be about 39 degrees. we'll see increasing clouds as we get ready for a cold front which will make things really cold for the holiday tomorrow.

door. whatever you do, enjoy the rest of the day and we'll see you and bright and early tomorrow morning on "good day philadelphia". and good morning to you bob kelly. we're following developing news this morning in the search for 12 missing marines off the coast of hawaii. the u.s. marine corps has released the names of those on board and one of them is from philadelphia. 31-year-old captain brian t. ken doo the coast guard is now expanding the search where two marine helicopters crashed into the water on thursday. officials aren't sure if the two planes collided and are still investigating just what went wrong. fire broke out around 2:00 this morning in the 3700 block of north 19th street in north philadelphia. fire officials say it was on the second floor of a home. the red cross is helping to assist nine displaced residents but thankfully so far no injuries have been reported. 8:04 right now a homicide investigation in north philadelphia. this happened along the 2600

block of north broad street in the city's second. our own jenny joyce is there right now. jenny we're hearing bits and pieces. what information can you tell us about this? >> reporter: good morning. just seconds ago we did get update from police on scene he here. we're here at broad and comer land streets outside a men's homeless shelter here. now we have confirmed information. two people were shot, two employees of this homeless shelter were shot this morning and one was killed. homicide detectives have confirmed that they are involved in this investigation. we did talk to man who lives here. he says he's lived here for year and half. he was outside this morning around 6:00 a.m. when he heard about five shots fired. he claims he saw a man running out of the building and back to the train tracks that run behind the property, again, we know that two people were shot this morning here inside this men's homeless shelter which is broad and comer land streets. one of them was killed. bill? >> thanks, jenny. keep us inform.

get us more information as you get it. 18-year-old in custody charged with the thanksgiving morning murder of 21-year-old ryan kelly. port richmond man was walking home from wawa when he was gunned down a block away from his home as his mother watched from the doorway. philadelphia police homicide fugitive apprehension unit arrested david ramos, jr. saturday morning. he's charged with murder and robbery. >> he hurt us. he didn't destroy us. we're a strong family. we got a lot of family and friends, and, you know, we'll survive, but without our son ryan. >> i want to thank everyone because everyone has been i was somebody his friends, our family, they've been there for us every day. they come over to hang out with us and keep us company. i want to thank the philadelphia police department. they've been awesome. >> ryan's family believes there may be more suspects out there still on the loose. and suspected gang remember is facing drug and weapons chargecharges.

alexander ortiz pulled over on hillside road in camden on friday. they found a handgun and about 900-dollar in the car. investigators searched his nearby apartment where police say they found more guns, drugs and $15,000 in cash. investigators say ortiz is a sex money murder blood gang member. 8:07. the trial for a former professional wrestling star accused of murders his mistress in hotel nearly a len town has been postponed. jimmy super fly snuka was arrested last year. investigators say he repeatedly assaulted nancy argentina in may of 1983. she was found dead at the now closed george washington motor lodge in whitehall township. snuka's attorney told a judge yesterday his client's mental health is deteriorating. he says snuka no longer understands the charges against him. a judge must now decide if snuka is competent to stand trial. american prisoners are now

heading home from iran released in what the country is calling a prisoner swap. just moments ago, the plane carrying those americans left tehran. in return for the release of the five prisoners, the united states is granting clemency to seven iranians many prison in the united states. one of the most prominent americans released this weekend is washington post reporter jason, economics sanctions imposed on iran are also being dropped because the country is now complying with the international nuclear agreement. while the two tracks of negotiations were not directly related and they were not, there is no question that the pace and the progress of the humanitarian talks accelerated in light of the relationships forged and the diplomatic channels unlocked over the course of the nuclear talks. >> now the end of economic sanctions could release $100 billion in frozen assets. coming up on the show, new

morning to you pam la. and hey, sue, what's going on with you? >> how did tigers get their stripes? it's a time honored question and now those tigers and their stripes have the attention of the philly sign test. researchers say they may not exactly know why those stripes formed but they think they figure out the math and they know how those stripes formed. ready. harvard researchers crunched the numbers and came up with a math mat tick equation that predicts where those stripes will lie on a tiger's body like the tiger cares. any way you can check their math if you're so inclined in the journal cell systems. smart people figured out one slight change in the equation can transform the stripes from vertical such as those on a tiger to horizontal tiger with horizontal stripes sounds, well, pretty silly. almost as silly as the scientists who set out to figure it out. ♪

♪ welcome back to the show. good morning. 8:13. criminal case against comedian bill cosby could be hitting a roadblock after e-mail between two former district attorneys emerged. according to cn inform, former district attorney bruce castor sent e-mail to former da risa vet free ferman last year which discussed a verbal agreement

made a decade earlier. that agreement had cosby testify in a civil sexual assault case in he can change for not being criminally charged. it gave cosby's accusors the best chance of winning her case. commentator michael smerconish talked about the e-mail on cnn. >> this documentation, this e-mail you have seen literally says the old da if he's forced to testify will essentially say yeah, this deal exists. >> there's a hearing set for february 2nd. what i'm holding in my hands what i expect the old da will come in, put his hasn't the bible and swear to which is to say, in the accusor's best interest back in 2005, we made a deal with bill cosby. we opened the door for him to testify in a civil case without the benefit of his tim add many right. >> this could have huge impact on the case. joining us live this morning attorney heather hanson to help us get through all this. heather, good good morning. >> good morning bill. >> let's assume for a second this agreement exists and e-mail exists just from legal background, would it be binding

and would you have to live by it in today's society? >> if the agreement exists and they can prove that it exists, which is going to be the more difficult hurdle to overcome, then, yes, everyone should stand by it. if bill cosby relied upon a promise by the prosecutor and therefore gave up his fifth amendment right to not self incriminate, absolutely everyone should be bound by that agreement. the question is, though, bill if you're making such an important agreement, i mean this agreement would have been the most vital thing to the criminal case and the civil case, the idea that it was not put into writing writiny lawyers who spend their days protecting their butts and putting things into writing is absolutely inconceivable to me. >> i'm going to hold you on this, heather, because you're an attorney and attorneys pick their words very wisely. you said they should have to respect this agreement. do they have to respect it or it's just the right thing to do? >> bill there's nothing black and white in law. you would expect the judge to say, yes, the state is bound by

the prosecutor's promise to bill cosby and his attorneys, but first that promise has to be proven. it's not enough that castor the old prosecutor wrote an e-mail recently saying he made that agreement back in 2005. it's what happened in 2005, and you've got the attorney for the victim saying she was never part of such an agreement even though the prosecutor says she was. the attorney for bill cosby who is his criminal attorney at the time is no longer alive. it is going to be very difficult to prove that that agreement existed because there's nothing to document it and the only person whose going to say so that was part of the agreement was -- is this former prosecutor. >> listening to your choice of words you're not buying this. do you remember this agreement existed and if it did it sounds like you're saying it was poor legal practice even if they had the agreement. >> that's why i can't believe it existed, bill these are good attorneys. the prosecutor from montgomery county he was a prosecutor for a very long time. you have to imagine bill cos we's attorney was good attorney.

they won -- i cannot believe that they would make such an important agreement and not put in it writing somewhere. even if you were to write an e-mail to yourself documenting today we made this grammy, so that you have some proof of it. words oral agreements are very difficult to prove, and they're little bit more difficult to enforce. they are enforceable but there has to be some proof and i don't see how they're going to come up with the proof there. >> sounds good. heather you always make it clear for us. we appreciate you spending time with us. thanks, bill. have a good day. >> do you the same. have good one. comments are coming in through social media about whether or not people believe that bill cosby should be prosecuted if he had this agreement. feel free to share them with us as well. all right. mike told us a little bit earlier that it is going to get cold. there's even some people saying later on in the year -- in the year, in the week we might get some snow. looking out at reading, mike, doesn't loo too bad. is that deceiving. >> it is. because these temperatures in reading which are into the 30s, that's like a heat wave in

comparison tonight's temperature again for monday night into tuesday. i'll get into that in one second. 36 in town north and west. lower 30s a couple spots in the pine barrens of new jersey showing middle and upper 20s but again these temperatures are very nice compared to what's expected to move in later tonight noon tomorrow. so one cold front coming through now. there's another front up towards the northern plains this is a very important front because this is going to bring in the arctic air as we get into the overnight hours. and then we'll watching a piece of energy down across the florida states. down across florida that is. actually produced severe weather earlier this morning. this is a system that rolls up the coast it's not going to be a coastal storm. but it stays far enough close to the coast to allow for snow showers to develop and then we'll see some snow showers develop across the lehigh vall valley. front moves through here and then it gets really cold by tomorrow morning, lower teens being achieved into the upper lehigh valley. low 20s across new jersey. and then that system pushes

through. look at that. monday afternoon teens to around 20 degrees in the city. that's a taste of this arctic air that comes in. so in terms of snow, not talking about a lot of snow. but there will be a sugar coating up towards the lehigh valley and poconos, and also down across our coastal sections wrightstown atlantic city down towards wildwood possibility of a quick coating this is late this afternoon into the evening hours and then man does it get cold. these are air temperatures right now which are into the negative -- look at that negative 24 degrees in canada. wow! that's the cold air that's poised to move in as we go into tomorrow. not only is it going to get cold, the winds are going to crank by tomorrow morning, wind gusts close to 40 miles per ho hour. that produces wind chill values that will be into the single digits and negative numbers. take look at sue serio and wen wendy. weekend wendy is ready for the cold to stick around a little bit longer this week than it has for most of the roller coaster ride this winter. and guess what? philadelphia restaurant week starts today.

but the men remain on the loose. check out this video. it's surfacing now showing where notorious drug lord el chapo was hiding out. footage shows his hideout in a mountainous region. apparently sean penn found it. el chapo back behind bars at the same prison where he made his daring escape six months ago but mexican authorities say they beefed up security since his prison break and they are outfitting the drug kingpin with a 24/7 guard at his cell. probably should have had that a long time ago, mike. second time he actually got aw away. >> crazy. good for sean penn. here's what's going on. ultimate doppler want to show you snow showers well down to the south. this is what we've been advertising the last couple of days. some snow showers that will work up the coast during the afternoon. not a big deal but more conversational deal as we go into the afternoon. big area of low pressure down to the south again this is not going to run up the coast. that would be a typical classic philadelphia snowstorm. not the case.

this is going to stay offshore during the course of your day. fox future cast is going to show that pretty nicely. snow showers later this afternoon into the evening hours and then the front belows through here. we'll be talking about gusty winds, falling temperatures, lehigh valley you'll pick up snow showers. take look at one of our forecast models showing again sugar coating along our coastal sections and then we'll also see the possibility of some snow showers up towards the lehigh valley. here's your atlantic city planner turning cloudy today, 36 degrees. snow showers 35 degrees and still some snow showers through the 8:00 o'clock hour. we'll be talking about much colder weather headed our way in fact we'll be into the 20s by tomorrow. talk more about the forecast coming up in a little bit. good morning, alex. ♪ in your health this morning we're talking about your dietary habits. you know losing weight is one of the most popular new year's resolutions. how you doing with that by the way? couple weeks in. with that comes changing your eating habits. they say lot of times it's about

what you eat. what you're putting into your body. the question is, though, how do you feel full while cutting the calories? we'll bring in fox medical team's deena centofanti. you have the answers deena because that's my thing. you know, if i wanted to juicing, if i want to eat, you know, smaller portions, i'm hungry. >> reporter: i know. it is such -- you have to play like a mind game. you have to do jeddi mind trick op your own self to make sure that you're feeling full even though you're eating smaller portions and it's not easy. we'll talk about snacking because we are just culture that loves to snack. we eat a meal and we can't wait to thing about what we'll have for our next snack. used to be we didn't eat snack mom would say it's going ruin your dinner. not any more. snacking you have to do it correctly. recent study in 2010 came out and said we eat about 600 calories is a day in just snacks much that's probably too much. here we have alec this is the gold star when it comes to what you should be snacking on. >> this is what your plate should look like. >> this is it. this is 150 calories. that's what we're aiming for.

150. this is an individual sized hummus and that's about 90 calories. this particular brand and then you got your -- let's be honest you can each as broccoli as you want. brock cole system not our problem. >> i love broccoli. >> me, too. this is super food. if you did this that's the thing people say i'm so busy, i'm so busy this is very simple. you buy these carrots they're already chopped up for you and buy some broccoli and though this in a tupperware and go to work. >> wait a minute, deena. that's just a snack, right. >> right. >> i need more food g this is a snack. >> okay. good. >> this is just your snack. this is not your meal. although here's the thing the thing we like about this, you've got your fiber, you've got your protein, and this when you sit down to eat this you think, oh, i'm getting a lot of food in my snack. here's one that is interesting because it just shows what you're allowed to eat on 150 calories. we have guacamole single serve guac this is 80 calories which means you are allowed five chips. so five. that's it. that's your snack for 150 calories.

>> only five. that's the magic number. >> count those out. >> um-hmm. and you got to seal up that bag and put it in another room. put it in another house. >> i'll cover my eyes. right. these are snack bags with nuts in them this happens to be cash shoes. i keep this in my car as an emergency snack. this is 330 calories. so you're eating this not thinking driving eating and that's bad. so when you measure out your -- nuts are healthy snack, healthy fats, but when you measure it out this is what 150 calories of cashews looks like it's not much. so that's the visual you have to keep in mind teague a snapshot with your eyes and remember it. veggie straws, i don't know how healthy these are to be honest, but this plate looks nice and full and so,. >> it does. i like veggie straws. yeah. they're crunchy. a lot of nair these thing. (laughter). >> that makes you fool like you're get along nice crunchy snack while you're watching a movie or something. i have a couple of sweet things for you, al allegation. first of all, sometimes you go

in and you sneak some chocolate chips from the pantry, making chips and when you need a, you know a little something sweet. >> yeah. semi sweet chocolate chips you can eat a lot of them for 150 calories. and satisfy your sweet tooth. so a few chocolate chips i think i counseled out about 60 of them here if you're counting. and finally, i have these are my kids gummy bears. >> how many gum me bears can you do? >> 20. >> five chips and 20 gummy bea bears. >> yeah. about 50 chocolate chips and about 20 gummy bears. >> i'm going to be to do a lot of the counting. >> this is good when you have a sweet tooth. >> i know. >> that's right. >> you won't be eating because you're counting. >> that's true. that's true. this is good because now i have a number i'm trying, arc goal i'm trying to reach i'll make sure to keep it at that and stay at that. >> that's the goal. thank you. >> good luck. >> thank you. i'll need it, deena. thank you very much. i appreciate it. >> me, too. all right. what do you typically eat for snack? let us know on face become or twitter using the hash

now if our eagles haven't had enough bad news lately, now espn says highering doug pederson is the worst head coach higher in the entire league. sports network reported that pederson is only been offensive coordinator for three years all under andy reid who of course is the dominant voice and the play caller. they also pointed out that when asked about the job with the eagles pederson responded, oh, gosh. now, they wonder if a guy who says oh, gosh, is just a yes man who won't be able to handle one of the toughest sports cities in the league. a lot of you actually seem to agree. talking about this on social media all morning. so that leads to us our poll question of the day. do you agree that pederson is oh gosh yes man or do you think they're rushing to judgment? if you hate the hire of pederson vote fox 29 yes. if you think he deserves a chance he's not a yes man vote fox 29 no.
