7:02. following breaking news police are looking into why and how a car ended up in the delaware river. >> scary situation way lost questions. cruise pulled the car from the river still trying to figure out if anyone was actually in the car when it crashed. fox 29's jennifer joyce there on columbus boulevard. jenny, what have you found out so far? >> reporter: the marine unit is still on scene here working to figure out whether or not there were occupants inside the vehicle and see if any are in the river when the car was recovered. no one was found inside. police on scene say that car was flying down oregon avenue and instead instead of turning on to columbus boulevard it plow flood a fence, went airborne and flew into the river. it happened just before 3:00 o'clock this morning. police responded within minutes. along with the fire department and coast guard marine unit entered the water and located a silver buick enclave when. tow trucks arrived the car was pulled from the river. the windows were blown out. no one was found inside aside

from car keys there was no evidence left hyped by a driver or passengers. there was a witness who stopped at the intersection. he says what he saw was crazy. >> car comes just flying by, silver, not sure of the model. flying by. so not paying attention i heard a crash. i thought it crashed into another crash. i looked over and seen the gate missing and i seen a splash. i told my friend somebody went into the water. we pulled over immediately and call the cops. >> reporter: and back out live the marine unit will continue to search the river for anyone that may have have been inside the car when it crashed. karen and bill? >> thank you, jenny. keep us informed. i guess it's a good sign nobody was in the car. more information to follow. this morning police are looking into how several parked cars were hit along the same street in port richmond. investigators say just after 1:00 a.m. a witness heard a crash from inside his home and when he step outside he saw that several cars parked along edgemont and venango streets

they had all been hit. police aren't saying much but are confirming that the driver was under the influence and headed to the police detention unit. temporary jail for people right after they get arrested. we'll continue to keep updated with more information as it become available. 7:05. police in lower southampton township bucks county confirming they were called out in the past several times to the home of a man whose now accused of living with 12 young girls inappropriately but they did not at those times when they visited suspect child abuse. leonardo dicaprio plan accused of of sexual assault and other charges after police discovered 12 girls ages just six months to 18 years old living at his home over on old street road. he had two children with that 18-year-old when she was just 14. she came to the home. also, facing charges, are the amish parents of that 18-year-old daniel and sylvia stole visa accused of giving their daughter to kaplan as a gift when he helped them financial. officials aren't sure how the

other nine children got to that home. >> we really don't know. we went and we tried to look for birth certificates. we really didn't find any. we want to address were they abused, weren't they bruised, those kinds of issues. >> police say the girls are doing okay. all three suspects are in custody. each being held on million dollars bond. murder in chester county where a family member makes a disturbing discovery inside a berwyn home. a 62-year-old woman was found dead in her home on the 900 block of heather stone drive. family member went to check on denise barger and made the discovery. police say the recent widow died of force blunt trauma. they are calling eight homicide. >> george bengal a life long animal advocate and the director of the humane law enforcement for pennsylvania spca has died. he was a very good friend of the show. so many of them in our fox 29 family were close with him. the map who fought fiercely to end animal cruelty lost his

wounded in the attack they are now fewer than 20 patients remaining. officials say they're doing everything they can to make sure the victims are getting all the help that they need. orlando massacre has thrust the gun control debate back into the spotlight on capitol hill the senate will vote on four different proposals to enhance gun safety. two of them from republicans. two of them from democrats. getting bipartisan bills but each vary in they would approach gun control. none are expected to pass. on saturday president obama pressed the assault weapons ban as this debate continues. >> tough on terrorism, particularly the sorts of home grown terrorism that we've seen now in orlando and san bernardino means making it harder frameable who want to kill americans to get their hands on assault weapons that are capable of killing dozens of innocents as quickly as possib possible. >> republicans argue that the real problem is radical terrorism.

it's not just gun control. former contestant from the mexican version of the tv show the voice has died in a shooting. was murdered. al will he landreau fuentes was getting ready to celebrate his 45th birthday all of a sudden he was attacked on thursday evening getting into a car outside of his music school. on the southwest side where a man shot him three times in the head. he died saturday afternoon. his death comes just a week after the shooting death of another voice contestant from our area south jersey christina grimmie. >> colorado mother is being hailed as a hero i certainly think so after fighting off a mountain lion that attacked her five-year-old son. on friday, police say the boy was playing in the front yard when he suddenly started screaming. that's when the mother ran outside, saw the mountain lion attacking her son. luckily she managed to get him away from the lion. the pair was taken to the hospital. the boy is still in stable condition. his mother was okay and was released. authorities killed the mountain

lion there in the front yard. a thief in florida take a look at this video caught on camera. here the surveillance video. the man broke into a convenience store to steal lottery tickets. esche just smile for the camera. he's so close. but then here's the problem. he came back to the same store there he is taking all of the scratch off ticks. came back to the same store to try to cash in the winning ticket that is he stole. so far police haven't made any arrests but you can count on this guy getting caught. a tragic story from the northeast section of our city. teenager killed in hit-and-run it happened on the boulevard. but maybe it could have been prevented. different types of traffic lights. it's a question our bruce gordon ponders only in philly. ♪ >> reporter: i'm bruce gordon. it's no secret that pedestrians take their lives into their own hands when walk aig cross our even near philadelphia's notorious roosevelt boulevard. over the years we've reported on far too many pedestrians injured or even killed on what's been

called one america's most dangerous roads. in fairness, many of those pedestrian victims were jaywalking, crossing against the light or in mid block. in lots of other cases the drivers were clearly at fault, running red lights or speeding. but this week brought us a new variation on this tragic story. a fatal hit-and-run accident at adams avenue and the boulevard in which both the pedestrian and the driver appeared to be within their rights. a young woman 17-year-old march kayla jackson was struck and killed by a mini van as she crossed adams with the walk light. mini van driving northbound on the boulevard also had the go ahead a green light to continue making the soft right hand curve on to eastbound adam. it all has to do with the bizarre timing of the light signals at that intersection. pedestrians are given the all clear to walk as they cross adams, just at the same moment the traffic on northbound boulevard gets a green light stepping 40 miles an hour traffic around a soft curve and

right into the pedestrian walkway. that intersection is run more less jointly by penndot and the city of philadelphia. now the city sent me to penndot. penndot folks explained they view that intersection northbound boulevard on to eastbound adams as right turn hence the timing of the light signal much except that it's not. it's not a 90-degree right turn which would force traffic to slow way down before entering those pedestrians. it's a soft curve. which allows vehicles to hit that pedestrian walkway at 40 miles an hour or better. long-time residents toll us they've been dodging cars at adams and the boulevard for years. but no one is excusing the driver of mini van for leaving the scene. leaving a 17-year-old girl to die in the street. but the timing of the signals at that intersection was a tragedy waiting to happen. finally, it did. penndot promises they'll meet with the city to try and figure out better way to time out the

>> we continue to follow breaking news this morning. crews pulled a car out of the delaware river short time ago. that car went into the river just before 3:00 o'clock this morning near columbus boulevard and oregon avenue. officials are now working to determine if anyone was in the car at the time of the crash. we will keep you posted. here's some of our other top stories right now. wildfires burning in new mexico, arizona, california and utah this morning. firefighters are dealing with very dangerous conditions because of a major heat wave. a blaze burning in central new mexico scorched more than two dozen square miles. so-called dog hedge fire destroyed several homes so far. 7:30. impatient driver injures two officers during the procession for a pulse shooting victim. deputes were bork working the funeral procession a female driver tried to cut through traffic striking the i don't officers on their motorcycle.

it did happen just before 3:00 o'clock this morning. police responded within minutes along with the fire department and co guard. the marine unit enter the the water and located a silver buick enclave. when the tow trucks arrived the car was pulled from the river. the windows were blown out. no one was found inside. aside from car keys there was no evidence left behind by a driver or a passengers. there was a witness who was stopped at the intersection. he says what he saw was crazy. >> car comes just flying by, silver, not sure of the model, comes flying by. not paying attention i heard a crash. i thought it crashed into another car. i look over and i seen the gate missing and then i herd a splash. i told my friend in the car somebody went into the water. we pulled up immediately and just called the cops. >> reporter: and back out live, you can see the marine unit is still in the water still searching the river for anyone who may have been inside that car overnight. karen and bill? >> jenny joyce thank you.

looking for on the label when we're buying insect repellant. >> good morning, lauren. so there are three key ingredients that seem to be really effective. you know i check the cdc website to see what they recommend. one of them is bug repellan reps with deet. deet has been around for decades. it's in about 500 different bug products you get it in varying degrees of active ingredient or intensity. another one to look at is pro care dan. that can be really effective in repelling mosquitoes and one is a natural bug repellant that's oil of lemon eucalytus which is really effective. so between deet and pro care dan and lemon of oil eucalytus they are contenders were it comes to protecting yourself this summer. lauren. >> here's something i found out from a recent study. a surprising mosquito repellant you can get at victoria secret. >> yes. this came out last year and there was research study they

looked at about 20 different kind of bug repellants and products and non traditional and natural and they also one of the volunteers was like hey i got this bottle of victoria secret bombshell perfume. why don't we try that. they did and that was like the surprise stand out of the study victoria secret bombshell perfume was able to repel mosquitoes very very effectively for up to two hours, lauren, and nobody really, you know, this was just kind of came out of nowhere they were just sort of testing it on nuke. it did really well. it did better than some of the like citronella and the natural bug repellants that people are using a little bit of victoria secret perfume worked better than that. lauren. >> little bombshell. note taken. i remember as a kid my grandmother would always say, grab the avon skin so soft and spray it all over your body. is there something that's in that also. >> yes. well, it's interesting, you know, that people i grew up in the military and the soldiers used that all the time in the

weather so quickly warms up. 90s by this afternoon. we'll say just a few storms co coming in it looks like it's not until tomorrow night there's one or two clouds out there today. here comes the relieve from the heat we'll see it building up today. it's there tomorrow. ahead of that humidity increases. so you'll notice that higher humidity tomorrow and overnight tuesday but the storms. the strongest storms will be too far to our west monday night and then as the front pushes south, they fire up in the afternoon tuesday but to our south. so we're not seeing any potentially strong storms in the forecast. just a few around there. late monday night and throughout the day on tuesday. they the heat index monday climbs into the lower 90s. that's close to the 90-degree mark so not excess tiff heat but it's enough where you'll notice it tomorrow afternoon. 90 and 90 close up to 89 degrees on tuesday. so possibly a heat wave there if we do squeak out a 90 on tuesday it will just be a little cooler with showers coming in. a nice day on wednesday.

and you realize when you're doing it it's getting a little thicker. once it gets thick and incorporated, you're done. next step, i've chopped up about four -- sliced up about four bananas. we'll soak the bananas in orange juice that prevents them from turning brown in the banana pudding. drain them, right into the pudding. drain them again. don't be afraid if a little orange juice gets into the banana budding. adds flavor. there we go. the best part about soaking bananas in orange juice you can drink it when you're done. it's good. mix it all very very well. get the bananas spread out through the banana pudding. barbecue guy doing banana pug n that amazing? throw it in the fridge. an hour, hour and a havelet it set up. enjoy it. it's been about 90 minutes.

our banana pudding is ready. very simple process. take three, four, five as many vanilla waivers as you want, put them on bottom of your cup. your ban in a nan pudding, pile it high. take about four more vanilla waivers, throw them on the top. if you have crumbs don't be afraid to use them. little pitt of topping. that's all do you. ready to go. ready to try this? mix it up. that's good. i'm pitt master glenn gross of fat jack's barbecue and this has bon your fox food bite.
