and if you're looking for something to do witness kids today, bring them on down to penn's landing. the irish festival kicks off today at noon up to 7:00. we'll see you down there right along the river in penn's landing. now, remember, this is a festival that was postponed from about a month or so ago when we had that nasty rainstorm that hit us on weekend. so come on down. lots of irish food, fun and dancing on penn's landing beginning at noon. have great day. and we'll see you bright and early tomorrow morning starting at 4:00 followed by "good day philadelphia". >> so the man who suffered two broken legs after an overnight crash this happened in north philadelphia just before 3:00 o'clock this morning. the scene there is north of 11th and west suss we man that. the driver lost control of his car and crashed into a pole to get out he is expected to recover. police are investigating a shooting in north philadelphia at tenth and diamond. police say a man was shot in the lower back. he was taken to the hospital and so far no arrests have been ma

made. >> right now, police are investigating the cause of a fire in germantown that left one woman dead. >> fire crews were called just before 9:00 p.m. last night to a home along the 200 block of east price street in germantown over 50 firefighters battled the flames. the blaze was put out in about an hour. while extinguish are the fire officials found a woman's body in the basement. >> as they were continue to go search the property they found a deed individual and immediately isolated that area. >> officials also say another person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire. and police in montgomery county are investigating after a body was pulled from a creek. it was discovered in norristown around 8:30 last night near the intersection of west aires street and markly streets. police are not releasing any further details at this time.

>> 70:00 future big rally and celebration of life for the delaware county officer who was shot seven times on friday. police say officer christopher dorman was responding to a routine call on friday morning at that apartment building when a drug dealer according to investigators opened fire on the 25-year-old. that's the suspect right there. officer was hit a total seven times. there's some pictures of him in his hospital bed over there at penn presbyterian he was shot in his face and his leg and join. look at you will the people hosey came out to say we're behind you 100%, buddy, we'll help you get better. support for hometown hero in folcroft at a vigil. >> that person that was out to hurt him could have hurt any of us. >> he didn't back down from a gun with a gun trying to kill hem much he's not going to back down from the rehab or the surgeries that he needs to get himself back being a police officer. >> how about that? i like that sign. officer dorman is expected to make a full recovery and he is set to be released from the hospital.

they say amazing until few days. his condition was upgraded. because he's a part-time officer he doesn't get all the benefits so there's online contributions to help him with his recovery. it's a gofundme we put that information on our facebook page. it is already reached more than $20,000. after so much excitement early on this week, sixers top draft pick ben simmons week has turned to extreme sadness as his cousin was killed yesterday in a hit-and-run. newly drafted ben simmons posted this picture on twitter with his cousin at the draft on thursday evening just two days prior. the tweet saying rest in peace zachary simmons and i'm glad i could share this moment in my life with you. 21-year-old zachary simmons died when he was hit by car as he was crossing a street in hoboken, new jersey early saturday morning. police are still search fog the vehicle that hit him. and we now know the identities of two men who were killed in a crash along the garden state parkway. it happened saturday morning near mile marker 48 in port remember lick atlantic county.

police say the driver 27 year odd darrell thomas lot of control of the vehicle which hit a guardrail and flipped into the marsh below. 22-year-old zachary pierce was ejected from the car. both men were from new york. two other passengers officers say they are in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the cause of the crash still under investigation. 7:07. for so much hughes like to use the schuylkill river trail there is a new kind of neighborhood watch to keep that path safer. over last several months a lot of reports or some reports of incidents. newly renovator and people love to use it. but there have been some assaults and harrah's many incidents well now the schuylkill river trail watch is on the look out. they have 80 people who volunteered to monitor activity and report any potential safety issues on the schuylkill trail during the day and at night. >> the citizens are part of what makes the city great and working together, getting to know who else is out there on the trail can make a big difference.

saint joe's boat house then they grabbed their bikes and they're taking off for a two loop 40k course through fair point park the third leg of this vase a 6.2-mile run that heads up to the art museum and loops eye back around to mlk drive. this is the 12th annual try rock philadelphia triathlon. it's a weekend long festival that includes three events and a race for children culminat culmg think with this morning's longest olympic race. while this race is going on, there are a number of street closures in the area so you might need to plan an alternate route if you were planning to head through sections of fairmount park this morning. winner of this race is expected to cross the finish line just after 8:00 this morning. so just over an hour and a half from the start of the race and we will be here to watch as they finish. karen and bill? >> that's pretty excite. you're right there at the transition. they've come out of the swim, jumped on their bikes and they're heading on out? >> reporter: we are. we are. everybody seems to be in very

beach. 10 cuban migrants arrived on the shore in that simple row boat some of them are kissing the ground as they get there. police and coast guard officials were on hand to arrest and detain the nine men and one woman who arrived in the boat. >> every time law enforcement decides to approach and get near them they were threatening themselves. there were knives on board and several weapons. >> i think it's amazing that these guys came across the ocean from cuba in a row boat and made it to land. >> i feel good for them, you know, they traveled so long to get here. i mean they deserve it. >> now, one of the men apparently stabbed himself in the stomach and he was taken to the hospital. i don't understand why they have to do that. can you imagine row a boat all the way over get to shore and then arrested on the shore. >> you have to check out the new policy we've had the changing status with cuban. wet foot to dry foot if you made it to land you got to stay. if you got picked up at sea they brought you back. check the latest on that. >> dave, check the latest on the weather.

no showers or thunderstorms today at least. that will be changing. the dew point down in the 50s and 60s as long as they're down below 65 or so nice comfortable feel. that's where they'll stay today but they're climbing back up. we'll be uncomfortable here tomorrow and tuesday as the humidity begins to return that wind will bring in that moisture from the south it's nice and calm now but the change you'll certainly feel that by tomorrow. temperatures are into the 60s. they're heading for the 80s this afternoon upper 80s. nice warm day with a low humidity and bright sunshine grab the sunscreen. you'll need it again today. what will bring in the rain tomorrow? that storm out over the great lakes it pulls up the moisture, the humidity begins to increase. we'll see these showers approach the area pretty much tomorrow throughout the day they're working they're way through the state so we have the showers and storms back in the forecast starting tomorrow see how long they stick around for and the seven day that's coming up later. right now, time to cash in. >> and talking about that, as we get to cashing in there's a

6,000 staff set an august date to decide if they will take a strike authorization vote and emergency legislative assembly scheduled after no progress was made in talks with the state system of higher education. we're talking penn state here. union officials say the state system is proposing 249 contract changes faculty members have been working without a contract since their agreement expired last year. at 7:32. rail unions negotiating with new jersey transit have reached tentative agreements with the agency. united transportation local 60 which represents conductors, the brotherhood of locomotive engineers and new jersey transit all say there's deal in place. no one is releasing the specifics at this time. it's not known when either group will vote on the proposals. we've got that now let's check in with sports in a minute. >> fox 29 sports in one minute. >> good morning i'm sean gel. flyers drafted rubtsov in this draft which was a little bit of controversy. rubtsov was in the middle avenue

that can be picked up space. humans can't hear it according to researchers at the university of london. it's called the ross bee whist whistle. and when scientists amplified it, they say it sounded like an a flat 30 octaves below a piano. they were studying ocean pressure, and it's effect on climate, when they stumbled across the noise. they compared readings from the late '50's until 2013 and tied records with data from a nasa satellite and they say the caribbean current flows east to west and it's very strong and actually quite narrow and just like you blow a narrow jut of air into a whistle this current creates a hum. it's really not so sill after all. kind of cool that this noise can be picked up from space even if it doesn't have you moving and grooving like billy ocean. ♪

they explain in this movie his character has been killed off but do you have bill pull man, jeff goldblum new cast members inn looting liam hemsworth and jesse t. usher playing will smith's son in the movie. overall though the film itself it does have some great action. i will give it that. there are scenes where the effects are amazing insane to watch the big spaceship come in from the action scenes. there are some good disaster moments, but the problem is the script. they tried tore row 88 too much of the original film. also, there are some horrible one liners and some painful scenes. one of the best things about the original movie was the president's speech. that bill pull man gives in the original film one of the best speeches ever in a movie. they try to recreate that moment a couple of times in this film and it just feels absolutely forced. no one really felt like they wanted to be there. i mean i found some of the scenes to be fun. the alien attacks were great to watch. those sequences were a lot of

fun but the overall experience i found the script to be really bad. here's the thing. i don't mind watching an action film. that doesn't have the best script ever plenty of films like fast and furious, they don't take themselves so seriously they're winking at the audience and having fun. this just felt like it was forcing itself to be too much like the original. i gave 82.5 out of five. it's not the worst movie. it's not the best movie. it just really kind of right in the middle there. 2.5 out of five. i max 3d is not worth it. see it in 2d. it's a 2.5 out of five. i love the original independence day. this one i thought it was a step down. next up is the shallows. i thought blake lively did a phenomenal job in this film. now this is movie that works in an idea where it's ridiculous and over the top but it has fun and it's also incredibly intense at the same time. i thought blake live dull great job. her character finds a secret beach that her mom used to go back in the day she goes out surfing.

she's attacked by a shark and then she stranded on rock basically the entire movie until she gets somewhere else i won't say what that is but her character has to survive and she's only 200 yards or so from the actual shore. and the movie really does build intensity well the shark does a great job in regards to like the cgi and the way they created the shark some of it looked annie ma tron nick. it look interesting how they did it. reported very low budget around $17 million what i've seen in some of the article also but overall, i thought lively did great job. i think it's intense. there are moments where i was scratching my head going that's a little bit ridiculous no way that could actually had a and in real life. overall i thought it was lot of fun. it was a movie that worked on intense level. everyone asking me is it as good as jaws. no. jaw is that so masterpiece. there will be no shallows without movies like jaws but it does work. i thought lively did a phenomenal job in regards to the surviving qualities of the character i gate it a 3.5 out of five. great score as well. there's an mazing shot when she
