temperatures once again mid to maybe upper 90s, but it looks like a little bit of help in the way of lower humidity across the area for today. look at ultimate doppler yesterday afternoon and evening those scattered downpour downpog a boundary mushed through the area. thankfully that humidity little lower for today. but we still have excessive heat warnings in effect now through monday right along the immediate i-95 corridor. those feels like temperatures approaching the triple digits. outside of the warning we have some heat advisories. right now a live look hazy skies at the airport. 76 degrees. winds out of the north northwest at five. so that will drop the humidity a little bit later on during the day. temperatures though upper 60s wilmington, 70 right now in allentown. low 70s atlantic city along with wildwood. so area wide across the region today, 96 it stays hot in center city. not as humid i think we'll stay dry today. down the shore we had that land breeze today. it's a sea breeze.

working his shift on friday night. fox 29's jennifer joyce is live near the firehouse in north philadelphia with more. good morning, jenny. >> reporter: good morning, karen and bill. a horrible night, horrible news and still so many questions surrounding this death. black bunting is draped across firefighter lee's station latter company 12. the city put out statement last night saying that firefighter gabrielle lee died during his shift but at this point how he died is still under investigation. last night was an oh motion al one. our cameras were at the medical examiner's office where firefighter lee's body was tak taken. his fellow firefighters were there. tears were shed, hugs were shared. the city says lee died just before 8:00 p.m. this was after the firefighter had been transported to temple hospital. we don't know what led to the transport port or how he died. it's unclear when we learn,ing when we will learn some of these answers. karen and bill? >> thanks so much, jenny. we'll continue to look for the

updates. one person is in the hospital this morning after a crash on rose vest boulevard in north philadelphia. police were called to the area of the boulevard and d street around 1:30. that person was taken to einstein medical center with unknown injuries. investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash. out of control driver drove in a family friday evening killing a mother in front of her horrified loved one. police say the driver was on jackson street when that car collided coming down 21st and that impact sent the vehicle flying on to the sidewalk. they say a man an two-year-old child were with that woman. she was 40 years old. she died. the other victims were taken over to the hospital. they did have some minor injuries. we spoke with nearby it witness who heard the crash. just tragic. so tragic. i'm glad they have someone in custody so they can pay for this. >> there was a total of seven people hurt. they found the driver just a few blocks it way.

he was taken into custody. in wore yet on charges. amazing video from magnolia, new jersey. yesterday's wild weather, look at this, it was short storm but it was powerful storm, caused a large tree to fall on to car with woman inside. this was on the 400 block of lincoln avenue and cameras were rolling as first responders everybody applaudin applauding e first responders got that woman out of the car. currently we do not know her condition this morning. and more damage after yesterday's pop-up storms. take a at this video. a picture of the damage that happened near heart wood and cardinal lake drive. some people are still without power this morning. atlantic city electric reporting almost 600 people without power. pse&g says 800. and peco says thousand homes with no electricity. all right. coming up on 7:07 right now, and of course, all the excitement has already started. our city is buzzing.

it's electrically you can see all the people that are in town the delegates are here. the protesters getting ready. media has descended. we're expecting 50,000 as the excitement and participation is building. dnc volunteers have bun to arrive from all over the area to welcome delegates and take in the historical landmarks and sights. meanwhile many of the businesses are offering great deals for the dnc to delegates. everyone we spoke with seems to be counte countering on obviousy busy week ahead. >> we get to be a part of the excitement and see everyone get excited. i had a dream 10 years ago that hillary was going to be president. >> we had some guys from illinois, some guys from kansas, missouri. show you're more than willing to be more than just a spectator. >> the democratic national convention opening gavel will be tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. at the wells fargo center. one of philadelphia's most iconic sites looking so patriotic. looking beautiful. here's a look at boat house row all lit up of course in red, white brian just in time for the

dnc. lightinlighting at the boat houe was -- replaces upgraded recently. it will keep the red, white and blue theme until friday before it returns to the traditional all white lighting. and just ahead of tomorrow's dnc new e-mails posted by wikileaks show that some call a split in the democratic party. these e-mails revealed that some dnc officials scoffed at the bernie sanders campaign. sanders campaign manager said that party officials were acti actively helping hillary clinton and trying to hurt senator sanders. democratic national convention is not commenting on the more than 19,000 leaked documents but the dnc strongly rejected any suggestion that is it was playing in clinton's favor throughout the primaries. mourners gathered for a vigil in kabul to honor the victims of yesterday's isis bomb attack. at least 83 people were killed and 231 others injured when a suicide bomber targeted a mass demonstration of members of of a

we wanted to make sure we rep plated that from 2000. it's at convention center and seven venues throughout the ci city. this is a time philadelphian shows celebrate. big deal to host this conventi convention. one of only two other city in america hosted both conventions in the last 40 years. this is a big deal. we deserve to shine and i think we will. >> the city looks great. you mentioned when we were preparing from this you come from the political world. you're used to preparing actual campaigns. how is it preparing for fun for the common person of the delegates are people. they're not elected officials. >> we couldn't be happier. if you think about it, there's really buzz in the air that's what we what happened to do. we wanted to make this a great week for the city, great we can for the delegates and guests and members of the media coming from all over all over the world. we couldn't ask for better partners with cbb and the city of philadelphia. we're ready to close strong the last four days. >> how do you know philadelphia will shine in the spotlight. cleveland look great. obviously politic happening in

roll the clock ahead. dry tonight. but look at monday morning. the pocono mountains, the lehigh valley, a northern sections of new jersey, watching out for a couple of scattered downpours then during the heat of the afternoon monday we're looking at highs nearing 100 degrees. but look at 3:00 o'clock. scattered downpours likely across parts of the area some of that could be a little strong also severe once again that's tomorrow the threat for more thunderstorms. but look at the temperatures right now. it's 70 in allentown. we have upper 60s in wilmington. 73 dover. 73 right now in wildwood and 72 in atlantic city. the dew point the measure of moisture in the atmosphere any time it's above 60 it starts to feel a little muggy and uncomfortable. we have a dew point right now of 72 in dover. 64 in philadelphia. low 60s once you move north and west. here's a look at that scale when it's comfortable and pleasant, it's below 60. but right now it's still a little muggy stepping outdoors. the heat it continues to build

into next week. much of the nation dealing with excessive heat warnings and also heat advisories. so that's where that danger comes into play. so what about the dnc forecast, thousands in town, 98 degrees for the high temperature tomorrow. record heat also those scattered thunderstorms likely. it stays hot tuesday 96 degrees. look at wednesday, 92. maybe some pop-up storms on thursday with a high again of newspaper degrees. across the area for today, 96 in center city. once again we should stay dry. no thunderstorms popping up down the shore 87. a little nicer with a sea breeze for today. the pocono mountains hazy sunshine, 85 degrees. that weather authority seven day forecast showing you the record heat for tomorrow. nearing 100 degrees. feeling like the triple digits. and you get the drill. staying hot for much of the we week. we might dip below 90 bill and karen as we move toward friday and also next weekend.

now we'll see them here in philadelphia for the dnc. we of course we're talking about protests. several are schedule for today at fdr park in south philadelphia. the city gave permits to numerous protest groups during the d inform c. however, groups warn that even if they weren't approved they may still march. some of them have already started already. republican are not going to let the democrats have the whole spotlight this week. a lot of them are here. kicking off their own rnc at the dnc today. the republican national committee and the trump campaign will be hosting reception for the media tonight featuring rnc chair preif priebus and paul manafort. republicans will be in town to respond to anything and everything the democrats say during their convention. >> weekend wendy has an event for you really for the grown ups but she's happy to tell you about any way it's a chance at the pocono raceway to experience what it's like to drive a stock

car. this is the last day of this event as they've been having all summer long. 9am to 2:00 p.m. you show up there and you feel what it's like to travel 165 miles an hour around the famous pocono raceway 2.5-mile track. it's going to be lot of fun, and really anything create a breeze in these humid days. right, scott? >> absolutely. we'll take what we can get, sue. of course, we still have heat advisories and also heat warnings across the area. in the poconos mountain today temperatures will top out in the mid 80s. but take look at the danger zone here. you can see where we have those heat warnings now through mond monday. feels like temperatures along the immediate i-95 corridor north and west suburbs also as you move in south jersey feeling like 100 to 105 stifling degrees. outside of that, in the advisory areas, that includes the lehigh valley and also parts of south jersey down the shore. feeling like near 100 degrees. so dangerous heat area wide.

word is spreading of the passing of firefighter gabriel lee a short time ago we watched a shift change and i talked to one firefighter off camera who says that lee was family man. everything he did was for his wife and kids. the city put out a statement last night saying that firefighter gabrielle lee died during his evening shift but at this point how he died is still under investigation. last night was emotional one. our cameras were at the medical examiner's office where firefighter lee's body was taken. his fellow firefighters were there. tears were shed. hugs were shared. the city says lee died just before 8:00 p.m. this was after the firefighter had been transported to temple hospital. we don't know what led to the transport or how he died and it's unclear when we could learn these answers. karen and bill. >> thanks, jenny. we'll keep his family in our thoughts and prayers. we do know that one person is in the hospital this morning after a crash on roosevelt boulevard. police were called to the area of the boulevard and d street

into. >> okay. >> i'm heavily into the social butterfly and free spirit camp because i just like to have fun. i like to have, you know torque chitchat with people. i like to get exercise but i also kind of like that connection and so for somebody who is more socially driven, you really going to want more of kind of a social scene to your workout. so you'll love things like a group workout class where you have time to talk and sort of go back and forth. or you may love kind of a running group or walking group where you can work out together but then you can also spend some down time together. or may like kind of a social sport a team sport. so softball team arc kick ball team. anything like that. like where maybe you get in and workout then you meet after hours and go for drink that kind of thing. that is going to sort of float your boat if you will and keep you coming back for more. that's really what the key is. what's going hook you? what's going to be fun for you based on your personality? >> okay. i think that's me beth because i

need an accountable partner to make sure i'm there. okay. so someone who is the opposite maybe of me and who wants that piece and quiet, what sort of works for them? >> yeah. that's kind of my husband where i'm constantly trying to talk to hill and that's why we can't work out together. he's like be quite and exercise. (laughter). >> you're the kind of person that will do much better if you are kind of like a lone wolf on your workout. you'll do better with solo workout. you don't feel the pressure to sort of have this back and forth and to socialize with possible while you're trying to get your exercise in. so you're going to do better with running or walking or swimming or even biking. even a yoga class where there's not lot of talking. it's going to be really good fit for you because what you want to do is be able to go as intensely as you want, get that work out in. get the job done and then go on with your life. and maybe socialize some other part -- you know but not at the gym. for you i would say go solo. >> okay. and for the new bee who may be like just enter the the gym maybe intimidated.

need someone to sort of walk them threw things or help tell them what to do. what do they need? >> yeah. so what i think they might need is a little bit of routine an little bit of knowing what to expect and a little bit of structure and feedback will be really important especially when you're getting started. so it can help to take class where you have a set plan and you have the same instructor and you do relatively the same thing when you're working out. that can be really helpful for you to learn routines and to experiment with what you like. kit also be really helpful to hire a trainer who can work with you and say, hey, here's our game plan. i meet you every tuesday and thursday. we're going to get this done. we're going to spend 45 minutes, you know, like exploring different things that you like. but that person is kind of a guide to you because sometimes when you're getting started, or you like that feedback of having kind of a drill sergeant or a cheerleader or something, you're going to do better if you can get somebody that's on your team to help you. if you don't have the moneyed to n even having a buddy work out with you will be a better idea

it's kind of blazing right now across the area. later on this afternoon feels like temperatures in the triple digits. but let's take look at how we've got to wear we're at right now. 94 degrees on friday. 97 yesterday. today's high 96. 98 degrees tomorrow. the peak of the heat ultimate doppler it's drier than what it was yesterday afternoon. we had those pop up showers and thunderstorms. look at all of the wind damage and tree damage reporting across the area from yesterday so some folks still without power and the cleanup continues. today we'll get a break from those pop up showers and storms. but keep an eye to the sky on monday. monday morning as we watch the clock. scattered showers and thunderstorms north and west of the area some could sneak into philadelphia monday morning. then a break during the day but watch what happens in the afternoon and evening. by three, four, 5:00 we're watching another little disturbance move through that could bring gusty or severe thunderstorms. temperatures heating pretty rapidly. already up to 80 in

welcome back. beautiful day but it is been so hot outside so it's time right now to cool it all down. at least in your house. headlights go around the house. we've got glenn dickie and he's got great tips for keeping our house cooler during these summer months. good morning. >> great morning. >> so let's start with our i have selling my house and my air-conditioair-conditioning i t serviced it in number years. would do i need to do. >> you definitely want to have it serviced properly. have pro situation tune up not a standard little tune ups people get. and the other thing too make sure you put the air-conditioning system at a set temperature. don't turn it up, don't turn it back and this type of heat we definitely need to keep it so that the temperature stays the same. air-conditioners are meant to maintain temperature. not necessarily cool. >> okay. >> i'm also on one of those energy safer programs for my company. is that a good idea or not? >> so what they do, they take your air-conditioning system off of the highway driving mode and put it in the city driving mode.
