activity. >> imagine being flown around the world. >> we deftly made a few friends abroad and at home. >> thinks a lot. tamra you are chasing the story of caesar the dog, his lawyer and a day in court. what do you have question. >> i am continuing to chase the story of the 80-pound pitfall from staten island who is on death row for attacking and killing a 12-pound chihuahua earlier this year. the case was in manhattan supreme court on monday. there is no ruling yet but i just learned this is the first of possibly many lawsuits that caesar is involved with. >> they have how many days? >> up to 60 days. if the decision comes back not in your favor you plan to appeal? >> yes we do. i'm relatively sure if it comes back in our decision they will

appeal. the owners are fighting the city's decision to euthanize their dog based on the fact that the city's decision conflicts with state regulation and it's also a violation of their right. they have said they will take extra measures to make sure this never happens again including a muzzle and special training for caesar. however, not everyone is so comforted by that including charlie's owner charlie is a 12-pound chihuahua who was caesar's victim. i went to staten island to speak with charlie's owner eugene and charles. >> does your concern? >> put him down. >> my son was tortured and gone. he's a murderer. >> right here is where i got attacked, right here.

with the fighting we wound up around that manhole over there. that's where we want out and that's where charlie wound up all tora bora. that's where me, i wound up being dragged. >> the memory of the event is still fresh in his mind as well as the feeling of loss. >> that's exactly how you would think so i came back. it took two hours or three hours and he would be on that couch. >> caesar has been in solitary confinement since may. his condition has deteriorated and he has lost over 20 pounds and hasn't been eating. his lungs were filled with fluid which is a condition his family said he got at the acc, the shelter he is currently at. now because of that his owner, they are taking more action. >> it's our intention to bring a class action on behalf of all

dogs held under circumstances similar to caesars. >> i get there., but what i don't get is at what point do you have any defense when a dog not only got a lot of their backyard but also attacked a person. it's more than the chihuahua. >> there's a whole argument whether a dog attacks a dog or a dog attack the human, it's a totally different case. in this case he reached down and tried to get the dog to break up the fight. however, what the veterinarians are saying is that there are regulations and procedures that you need to go through in order to euthanize a dog and the city is just not doing that in the way the state mandates. >> i'm a big defender of pimples, i think they get a bad rap because often times pit bulls get misidentified and all that happens. none of that matters. this dog attacked the person. it's easy to blame the guy forgetting his his hand in there, that's ridiculous. this dog is dangerous and if the solution is confinement in a

muzzle, it's time to put the dog down. >> so i'm pulling up to the home where doctor martin luther junior king stayed at a student in seminary school. that's it right there. that's actually a piece of history that i don't think many people know about in this area. >> the where doctor martin luther king jr. stayed as a student in the late 30s is now boarded up beside an alley filled with broken glass and trash. >> i just have to say it was heartbreaking to see it in that state. it looks like any other boarded-up home you would see in camden. you wouldn't give it much thought if you are just driving down the street. >> i want to share this article from the philadelphia tribune in 1950. it it mentions him as michael king. that was his birth name. that's something i just learned about. this is part of history that we don't often learn about.

how camden and south jersey played a huge role. the article states when doctor king and his friends were denied nervous at a café, that's what sparked the first sit in in new jersey. i spoke with patrick duff who has done extensive research on dr. king's' time in the garden state. >> the restaurant owner told dr. king and his friends to leave and they refused to leave. he pulled out a gun, put it to their faces and said i want you out of here and they still refused to leave. one of the complaints, one of people with doctor king was actually a philadelphia policewoman carl smith and dr. king and walter mccall and doris wilson decided they were going to see this thing through even though they were being threatened. >> now to keep this history alive, the hunt family who actually owns the home are on a mission to get federal recognition as a historical landmark. the property is in bad shape and

this has resulted in the owners receiving a demolition notice per the city said that's not their intention. many fear this great piece of history is at stake in the activist speak to the significance, he played a role in the landscape that we see today as the diverse america that we all live in. first of all you have his first civil-rights event that happened. secondly, the time that he spent in this area was the time he accepted nonviolent. >> this has been a battle that has been going on for over year to get this federal recognition at the historical landmark. just recently congressman has put in his support. >> what we want to do is make it into a civil right center and a museum for dr. king's time in this area. to explain what happened between 1948 and 1951 in doctor king's life in this area which is very, very important in the formation of him as a civil rights leader. >> it's an organization called preservation new jersey.

if the most endangered site of new jersey every year. within a year or two half of them get decimated. we don't do a great job protecting our history but there's a lot of history out there to protect. you can't save it all. if you want to you're going to have to dig deep in your own pocket. >> maybe they could salvage it but they could charge to visit it. i think you could monetize the. >> absolutely. dogs are constantly proving while there why they're known as man's best friend. take a look at this cute little dog. he's an australian shepherd that lives in tennessee and the dog sprung into action last night last week to save a toddler from being bitten by a copperhead snake. the parents of the 18 -month-old say if he had been bitten he would've had a 5050 chance of survival so the dog is being hailed a hero.

>> it was supposed to bring unprecedented entertainment to the south shore of long island. a las vegas style cabaret right here in montauk. the doors are still locked and the only thing on display are these big yellow signs. how is everything going. not too bad. what you think? remember him, he and his partner rory went through this establishment back in april. you're going to see everything from america's got talent to the coney island slideshow. it's high impact. they also took us to the other establishment, the showtime cabaret just a few miles away.

the variety show club to our germans club. welcome to our show. >> not much has changed since then. if there are few still waiting for it to (they are trying to convince the public this is no way a strip club. but now they are fighting everyone else who gets in his way. >> there is montauk resident that really cross the line when it comes to fair play. mr. milano was here in montauk and decided he was going to make accusations that are completely false. he filed a two and a half million dollar lawsuit against montauk resident kevin milano. he accuses him of spearheading a campaign to prevent the cabaret from opening. in the past he has posted flyers allegedly that said this form of prostitution is coming to
