>> today, on chasing new chicago. women need to be 23 and older and men need to be 25. >> my decision-making absolutely improves after the age of 25. i do not know what it was. >> we have a right to serve anyone or deny anyone service. >> you are in newark at the night of a deadly crash with two buses on friday morning. what he got? >> take a look at these images. this is the after math of a collision that happened at 6:00 a.m. on friday morning in downtown newark. i'm at the scene of the crash. it went to new jersey transit buses at the corner of raymond boulevard and broad street. a number 59 bus was heading west on raymond when it t-boned a number 13 bus traveling south on broad. the 13 bus had 17 passengers on board.

all of whom were injured and sent to area hospitals. the the number 59 bus had no passengers on board and its driver was the emmy fatality. what the mayor is calling a tragic accident. the mayor noted the quick response and said of those involvlved in the crash. >> we are praying for all of the folks that are in the hospital that they have a speedy recovery from this tragic accident this morning. >> in a press conference this afternoon at city hall, the newark mayor confirmed the identity of the two drivers of the nj transit buses. the first driver who lost his life in the collision, joseph, was 59 years old years old and spent 27 years of with new jersey transit. the second driver of bus 13, james robert, 35 years behind the wheel. the county prosecutor's office is taking over the investigation and when i spoke to them they would not speculate on the cause of the crash.

spectators stood here stunned today at a busy intersection in newark, they did not see the crash when it was there but he saw the aftermath. he saw that is just what it pulled at, his heart. >> devastated. it look like he fainted or something, had a heart attack. it is a blessing he didn't have anybody with them. >> the 13 bus that received the impact of the crash is a popular route in rush-hour transporting people from new york to penn station. the driver of the 59 bus may have run a red light, but neither the press officer prosecutors office would confirm that. >> thank you. >> high-speed chase. >> take a look at the video of a store clerk tracking two armed robbers inside of a cell phone store.

it happened in patterson on wednesday when two armed robbers came inside, as for cell phones and they said take what you want. the store clerk then slipped out the back door, locked it runs around front and put something over the front doors they can't get out. so 911 is called in after 20 minutes of police not showing up there getting out of the store and still haven't been caught. the patterson please said internal affairs is looking into the response time. >> there's no way to go here until you get up yonder and then you have to stop. >> you never know when you're going to meet another tar heel. johnny out of lincoln, north carolina. johnny had his 18 will pulled

there might be room for 15 big rigs, the others others try to get in with a fitting. >> i just get talk into the driver the flatbed here, he had 50 some minutes on his blog for the day. it's not enough to get to the north is truck stop from here which is new burke, new york or the southern one which is in court in town, new jersey. he had to stop here. there's nowhere else for them to park. >> they said that you have to plan your trip to not get hung out with nowhere to park. the world doesn't always cooperate. >> there's always want to be construction that's going to hold you up or there's going to be an accident, detours. detours. that all comes of your clock. >> there are other truck stops but it's an issue to get to them logistically for your going south and heading the other way. again if you're up against the clock you are done for the day. pull over wherever you are. >> i had truck owners calling. they love you.

they are great. and i asked them and he said so i'm reading the story about this and i said hank is going to talk about it on chasing news. what i don't understand is the clock. here's what i learned. once you start. once you start your clock you have 14 hours you can be on duty. that clock cannot stop it keeps running. of those 14 hours, you can drive 11 of them. after eight hours she had to take a mandatory 30 minute break. then you can drive the other three hours. once use dart your clock it doesn't stop it keeps going until it hits 14. then you have to take a mandatory ten hour rest rest break to reset your hours for the next day. >> so the rules are working against the truckers. one of the guy said in canada they changed it. they can stop the clock. >> maybe we should talk to the canadians about it. this came from the federal department of transportation. truckers are human just like you and i. if a guy dozes off behind the wheel of an 18 wheeler, what happens it's not the same of me wrecking a previous. >> there also subject to their boss. they work for major trucking companies that want them to make their deadline.

jersey caused 11 people to go to the hospital. six of them were toddlers lloyd back from a a field trip at the turtle back sue. >> a driver hit eight others also. when i arrived at the scene the children were still in the band. they were smiling in their car seats, two were sleeping. >> thank god all of the kids were okay. the van they were traveling in was totaled. the band belong to a not-for-profit, the york street project which is not raising funds to get another van so they another band so they can continue to take kids on field trips. >> seen the accident i had to say it was an actual miracle. none of the children were hurt. and amulets came it was a large box. the emt took the children out of the van in their car seat , smiling all of the way we got on the bus, they continued singing and playing. they were absolutely, they made

me feel better. >> the york street project is a jersey city institution. it helps nearly 300 homeless women and their children get back on their feet every year. i came here to find out more about the car accident and what they're doing to get a new band. >> one of our key program efforts is to expose the children to the world outside of jersey city and show them what's possible in the world. we take them on field trips. this lady lives here right now and her daughter was in the van. >> i went to do my activities and they call me an hour later and said i have to go to the hospital because there was an accident and my baby was there. everything was okay. >> after she got to the hospital and saw her daughter and that she was okay, she was relieved and she told me how important these field trips are to her. >> it means a lot to me because i know sometimes like i could try to take them more and stuff like that but they are in school and they go there friends.
