we do have freeze warnings to talk about. but the temperatures by this afternoon upper 50s nearing 60. so it really is going to be a nice sunday just hang in there if you're not really a fan of the cold. live look right now outside our studios. some folks out and about. they are bundled up because temperatures right now upper 30s in philadelphia. but not as cold as it was yesterday. winds out of the southwest 9 miles per hour visibility is good but take look at the purp purple. cape may county, another hour. you have that freeze warning. also, all of delaware, delaware county and philadelphia county watching for those critical temperatures. we have 32 right now wilmington. upper 20s in millville. atlantic city 36. high pressure will continue to dominate the weather pattern and that will keep us with a lot of sunshine. so weather by the numbers scale of one to 10, what about a nine for today? so temperatures this morning in the 30s. afternoon highs nearing 60. here's a look at traffic.

>> good morning, everybody. sunday football in philadelphia. eagles, falcons kick off at 1:00 o'clock down at lincoln financial field and of course all throughout the morning whenever we have a football game in philly as we peek into the linc here early tailgators down there. the sports express trains. broad street subway of course is the best way to go if you're going to be going to the game later on after the game for everybody on their way home if eighty two you're going through the stadium area watch for delays and then north on 95 they're doing that project where they're repairing that big slab of concrete between washington avenue and center city. at times down to two lanes. hello to lawn crest and olney. good news for you. that adams avenue bridge that goes over the tacony creek reopened on friday. so you are good to go and that's a blessing for the 16,000 cars that use it each and every day. enjoy the rest of your day. go, eagles! you can catch the game right here on fox and we'll see you bright and early tomorrow morning when we check

the jam cams. sue has the and the forecast start at 4:00. >> bob, thanks very much. breaking news this morning. u.s. geological survey magnitude 7.4 earthquake has struck near christ church new zealand knowledge reports of major damage or injuries. there's no immediate danger of a tsunami. we'll stay on top of this and bring you more as it becomes available. now a look at our top stories. two people are in the hospital this morning after being hit by a car in center city overnight. this happened around 2:30 this morning at 11th and market streets. we're told the victims are in critical condition. police say the driver stopped after the accident. police now investigating that incident. a police pursuit in olney lands one man in jail. another in the hospital. this happened around 6:00 o'clock last night. police say they spot add car parked illegally on the 400 block of lindley avenue. when they approach the car, police say one of the three men inside started running from the officers as he tried to get away the man fell but once he got back up, bullets started flying.

>> he turns around with a firearm in his hand. the officer pulls his firearm at which point in time the male begins to run towards the officer's partner. at that point in time to time officer discharged and struck the male one time. >> that man is now in critical condition. police have arrested one of the other men in the car. the third man is still on the run. no to you a developing story out of villanova university. campus police with the help of local authorities investigating an 11 assault with possible political motivations. an african-american student was tacked and assaulted by group of trump supporters. let's get out to steve keeley on villanova's campus with the details this morning. hi, steve. >> reporter: well, villanova authorities thought they'd never be in this position they're upset now they've joined the growing list across this country of racial hate crimes on people, on property, and online. now radnor policely villanova public safety department both investigating this thursday night assault. it happened in the septa tunnel which is between west campus and

its main campus. that's where the black female student says she was shoved to the ground by one in group of white males who she says ran up to her yelling trump over and over. she was not seriously hurt. besides hitting her head. when she got knocked down authorities say. so villanova put out statement "calling it deplorable and says this racist behavior runs completely counter to our valu values. lauren says those found responsible will face serious consequences and disciplined appropriately. did not go beyond that whether saying any of those involved are students here but that's the thought right now. >> all right. steve keeley thank you so much. villanova story comes on the heels of a similar story focused on freshman on the campus of the university of pennsylvania. official at the university announced yesterday a student at the university of oklahoma has been temporarily suspended. racial threats were made against black freshmen at penn. through messaging app called group me. school leaders promised to support students after the quote deplorable incident.

the search is on for a driver involved in a hit-and-run in west philadelphia. police say a man was driving along 51 is the and hazel avenue when he hit at least two parked cars. the man hopped out of the car took off running and investigators say a woman was inside one of the parked cars. she was treated for minor injuries. police are still searching for the run away driver. a crash in southwest philadelphia sends one person to the hospital. police say just before midnight, two or three cars were involved in an accident along lindberg boulevard and south 84th street. one person was briefly trapped inside of a car before being rescued that person is recovering in the hospital with unknown injuries. investigators are still looking into the cause of that crash. after some tense moments in one bucks county community families now safely back in their homes. police say a man sent threaten threatening text messages to someone suggesting he would harm himself and others. when police arrived, at the man's home in langhorne he wouldn't come out. swat team was called in. shots rang out from the home. the neighborhood had to be

evacuated. after more than seven hours, police shot tear gas into the home that. didn't work. so they were forced to go inside to take the man into custody. investigators expect to charge the man after he undergoes a mental health evaluation. police arrested two people in what they are calling a flash mob attack in center city. fresco user clifford shows us the scene right at 16th and walnut around 6:00 o'clock last night. you can see a heavy police presence there. police say an off duty police officer was one of the victims in that attack and police are still trying to figure out what started the violence. scary moments for hotel guest in old city who found an intruder inside his room. this happened yesterday morning at the franklin hotel on chestnut street. police say when the 57-year-old guest returned to his room, he caught a man trying to get away with his wife's purse. the suspect had a knife threatened the man. suspect tried to run away. he didn't get far. now he's in police custody. it's sunday. time to talk sports.

7:14. anti trauma protests continue. people across the country gathering in large numbers to protest president-elect trump. more than 200 people attended a candlelight vigil in front of the white house before marching to the trump international hot hotel. over million expected to protest the inauguration on january 21st the day after he's sworn in as our 45th president. trump has been accused of sexual harassment and assault in his treatment of women became really big issue during his campaign this morning we're asking the question has the political atmosphere ever been this tense after a u.s. election? drexel university professor rows september berg joins us this morning. >> how are you. >> good. you see all this happening i was cross the country. the protests are erupting. a lot of signs we're seeing say

loves trump hates using his name using the hash tag. not our president. have we seen something like this before in our country? >> well, we certainly have seen very big protests movements over time. >> absolutely. >> you know, one of the things that comes to most people that are a little bit more mature remembering what happened with vietnam. >> um-hmm. >> and also with the civil rights movement. but probably what owe he we have also seen more recently a movements like occupy wall street and other that is did spring up that did last a long time. but we also have to realize that these protests while they're very important you have a right to protest and so forth for freedom of speech, they're not as large as those other protests that have occurred in the past. so this big call for the inauguration protest is going to really be a test to show how much the public is really enraged by this election. >> when see protests like you mentioned with vietnam an anti war movement. civil rights, they were against the treatment of how people were

being treated not necessarily against a specific person, though. >> not so much. although there was pretty large animus towards lyndon johnson rin charred nixon so i think it did kind of personal. one of the things that from historical peace people don't often recognize is that if you go back to 1860 with abraham lincoln, that the protest movement was pretty large because what did it it called the confederacy to be born and caused the civil war. i'm not predicting that's going to happen in this case because we have sort of a cross pressured situation where in every state there are people on both sides. in lincoln's time the south was all against lincoln. but he only got 40% of the total popular vote in 1860. so there were quite a bit of divisions then. >> what do you say to people who have the pin it's over and done with, why are we protesting now why didn't we do more before? >> well, i think there are

people that feel very remorseful that they didn't do more before. voters particularly young voters that maybe didn't turn out as much as they maybe feel they should have, african-americans latinos as well. and even the media. i've been involved with lot of discussions with people in the media who said, you know, we were too light on donald trump early on and allowed him to sort of come to power. so they felt a little bit guilty that they didn't give a sterner look at a lot of thing he was involved with. >> he sort is blaming the media in one of his tweets he sort of blames the media for all the protests, and has been quite dismiss seive of it all. >> he's kind of inconsistent. i mean it's like he hate the polls unless they're good for him. he hates public reaction unless the public lee action good for him. i think in a sense donald trump for the next four years is going to have to lose his cell phone and stop with the twitter and he's going to have to be more professionally managed and that's very different than the trauma in that was out on the campaign. >> and social media has helped

it's kind of hard to which of the two babies is older because we changed clock last week. cape cod health care posted the pictures of the parents and babies on their facebook page. the hospital said samuel was born first at 1:39am on november 6th. got it? >> got it. >> then little roane nine came along 31 minutes later but you have to remember we set the clocks back hour at 2:00 o'clock on any other day he would have been born 2:10 because of daylights saving time on paper he was born 81:10 so now he's the older brother. but he's really younger and the hospital said nothing like this has ever happened before. >> that's amazing. >> isn't it? >> that's a great story. >> i loved it when i saw it yesterday on twitter this is so cool because twins always have those bragging battles about who was born first. >> um-hmm. >> my nieces are twins, 20 minutes apart whenever you ask them who is older asia always says i'm 20 minutes older. these brothers will battle it out forever. >> i feel because of the actual setting the clock back i get it

last night. police say they spotted a car parked illegally on the 400 block of lindley avenue. when they approached the car, police say one of the three men inside started running from the officers as he tried to get away the man fell but once he got back up, bullets started flying. >> he turns around with a firearm in his hand. the officer pulls his firearm at which point in time the man begins to run towards the officer's partner. that point in time the officer discharges and strikes the male one time. >> that man is in critical condition. police arrested one of the other men in the car. the third man is still on the run. now to developing story out of villanova university. campus police with the help of local authorities are investigating an alleged assault with possible political motivations and african-american female student says she was attacked and assaulted by a group of trump supporters. let's get out to steve keeley who is on the campus with more details this morning. hi, steve. >> reporter: lauren, here the exact spot where the villanova

public safety depth says this happened thursday night. between villanova's west campus on one side and then we'll spin to the other side and show you its main campus and in between here is this septa pedestrian tunnel under the train tracks here at the villanova septa station. mike levitz our fine photographer will give you a look at the tunnel, and so this woman according to the villanova public safety department says young white men ran up to her while she was in the tunnel yelling trump over and over and then one of the guys shoved her down to the ground in the tunnel where she hit her head. she was not seriously hurt fortunately but villanova put out statement calling it deplorable adding "this racist behavior runs counter to our values" in a separate statement villanova president put out a message addressed to the villanova community. i have been deeply disturbed by several reports of our community using our nation's political process as a justification for behaviors in language aimed to inn testimony date and humiliate other people.

the white house before marching north to the trump international hotel in the nation's capitol. over a million women are now expected to protest trump's inauguration on january 21st a day after he's sworn in as the 46th president. trump has been accused of sexual harassment and assault and his treatment of women became a really big issue during his campaign. the search is on for driver involved in hit-and-run in west philadelphia. police say a man was driving along 51 accident and hazel avenue when he hit at least two park cars. man hopped out of the car took off running and investigators say woman was inside one of the parked cars. she was treated for minor injuries. police are still searching for the run away driver. a crash in southwest philadelphia sends one person to the hospital. police say just before midnight two or three cars were involved in accident along lindburgh boulevard and south 84th street. one person was briefly trapped inside of a car before being rescued. that person is recovering in the hospital with unknown injuries and investigators are still looking into the cause of that

crash. after some tense moments in one buck county community families are now safely back inside their homes. police say a man sent threate threatening text messages to someone suggesting he would harm self and others. when police arrived at man's home he will not come outside. the swat team was called in. shots rang out from the home. the neighborhood was evacuated after more than seven hours police shot tear gas into the home. that didn't work. they were forced to go inside and take the man into custody. investigators expect to charge the man after he under goes a mental health val weighing. police arrested two people in what they're calling a flash mob attack in center city. fresco user clifford shows us the scene right at 16th and walnut around 6:00 o'clock last night. you can see a heavy police presence there. police say off duty police officer was one victim in the attack. police are still trying to figure out what started the violence in that area. scary moments for hotel guest in old city who found an intruder in inside his room. this happened yesterday morning

at the franklin hotel on crest nut street. police say when the 57-year-old guest returned to his room, he caught a man trying to get away with his wife's purse. the suspect had a 953310 the man. the suspect tried to run away. didn't get too far and nowness police custody. you may have noticed dozens of parks across philadelphia getting a facelift. it's all thanks to the good work of volunteers who cleaned up about 80 neighborhood parks. it was all part of love your park fall service day. volunteers planted trees, collected leaves for compost and removed graffiti. the event you see here was at malcolm x memorial park in west philadelphia. it's one of the city's old defendant and most active parks. mayor jim can't ethaned all the volunteers who helped keep philly's parks clean. this is the seventh annual love your park day. well it seems donald trump presidency may not be a bad thing for your investments after all. us stocks rose sharply after seeing big losses on wall street during election week, but will

mean for your wallet? we brought in financial expert rob wilson to answer the question. good morning. >> good morning. >> thanks for joining us. >> pleasure to be here. >> stocks at record highs an lot of people are saying will this continue? >> well, i think it's going to be rocky from here on out a lost people watching the returns come in. >> yes. >> they saw on the side of the screen the market was down 800 pounds. >> right. >> immediately started thinking about their 401k. what i think happened there, look, when the results started to come in and they were vastly different from what the polls told us they were going to be traders started to get spooked. when they get spooked, they sell first, then they ask questions later. but as this star totter become a little more apparent who the winner was going to be, there was going to be no recount or anything crazy like that, then they can get back to just saying, okay who are the winners and losers going to be in trump administration. he talked about spending a lot of money on rebuilding roads and bridges and so that's helps infrastructure and construction stocks. tend to think republicans will be bores regulation that's helped like coal stocks and bank

stocks. when you promise to repeal the affordable care act that hammered hospital stocks and so there are going to be winners and loser ton put this in historical perspective i got good news and bad news. >> which one do you want first. >> we like the bad news first. >> bad news is, since world war ii there's only two presidents who have had negative stock returns during their tenure and both republicans. richard nixon and george w. bu bush. good news, though, however, is the stock since world war ii the stock market has performed best when we have republican president and a republican controlled congress. >> ah. >> which is what we have now. >> okay. i like that. >> there's bright side, right. >> always have to look to the bright side. for people like me of course after the election we talked about it in the newsroom we're all online checking our 401ks and investments. is that what we should be doing or wait it out? >> i always think you want to stay on top of it. the not good idea to kind of set it and forget it. at the same time you don't want to obsess over it. but what i think the market likes in general do you have a republican controlled, you know, presidency, house and senate.

that tends to mean that things are going to get done. whether you sort of agree with the policies or not. >> okay. >> president obama's signature legislation came when he had the same thing. so the market doesn't like gridlock when they think things will get happen it's more certainty you can get back to buying and selling as usual. >> how does this affect people i interviewed a lot of people in bucks county last week. this really does affect me. they think this. this has no affect on me. i don't really have investment manies or 401k. does it affect people everywhere on every level? >> three things that are really on the top of mind of the average american on what will happen. the first thing is taxes. i think you have to expect that taxes are going to come down mean physical for both individuals and businesses. look none of this stuff is going to happen overnight. it's going to take time for this thing -- for all these things to work through. also with health care expect republicans to keep their promise by doing something with obama care but again not going to happen immediately. and president-elect trump has also said there are some things about the law he wants to keep

allowing kids to stay on parents insurance until 26. care for people with pre-existing conditions. those things will probably stay. the last thing people are thinking about i think is wages. am i going to make more money under trump administration? perhaps. ease going to spend a lot more money on infrastructure that should help employees who have lost their jobs over the last decade maybe because of technology or because jobs have moved overseas. that should absolutely help but whether that helps, you know, jobs outside of that, remains to be seen. >> now my question for you for people who are not a part of investing right now is it a good time to sort of enter the game? >> so, look f i had crystal ball and i could tell you the exact great time to do that -- >> yes. >> we would be doing this interview and i'd be in the cayman island right now. [ laughter ] >> the best time to get invest asked now. and look i'm not in a prediction business i'm in the planning business. so it's kind of when you play baseball. they told uh-uh want to be ready for the ball to be hit to you on every pitch. you just want to have a plan in place so that no matter what happens, you're ready to reaction. >> people say if you stay ready you don't have to get ready. >> i couldn't have said it any

>> 8:25 this morning. time for holidays tis the season in franklin square. popular holiday attraction in center city is back. the holiday festival kicked off last week with new activities this year. visitors can watch fudge being made inside a heated tent. decorate holiday cookies, hang out in a beer garden. junior reporter danielle from temple went and got a behind scenes look how it got set up much this is your first time. >> thank you for joining. >> thank you for having me. what did you see there. >> i learn it's not only historic philadelphia but also peco employees who help put the electrical spectacle holiday light show in action. puck trucks, lifts and team wo work. these things together and you'll get an electrical spectacle holiday celebration. historic philadelphia has teamed up with peco to transform the franklin square into a winter wonderland. >> we have 20 peco volunteers here. we have our aerial line mechanics you see up in the bucket trucks all the support staff helping to decorate and also help to clean up and make sure that the franklin square is ready for all the visitors that

we're expecting through the next few months. >> reporter: historic philadelphia and franklin square have just one day to sell up the franklin square holiday festival and peco lose will be working around the clock to make sure that happens. >> our crews will be working here until the job is done but again it's really just so we can -- more than 50,000 lights they'll be helping to install. >> reporter: historic philadelphia president and ceo amy, works with peco to organize setting up the park for the holiday festival. >> we have specific tasks for people. they are hanging garland. they're hanging lights. they're in trees with their buck trucks hanging lights. so it's a great team effort. >> reporter: peco has been partner with historic philadelphia for the last 15 years but this is the first year that they are sponsoring the electrical spectacle event. >> peco has been a long-time supporter of historic philadelphia, and so it makes complete sense that they are the sponsor of the electrical spectacle holiday light show. who else other than peco could help us do this great holiday tradition?
