and swat responded a call for a 54-year-old man with a gun that home along river road. authorities say the armed man had military training and several weapons inside after hours into the standoff without any response from the swat teams. they september in robots with cameras and they found the suspect dead with a self inflicted gunshot wound. several neighbors on the block were evacuated and others were told to stay inside. one woman says she has seen this man act erratically in the past. >> it was something out of a tv show. >> periods of yelling and screaming and obscenities. and it never went this far. to where he was shooting his guns. we knew he had them. we were all very nervous about someone that unstable having them. >> investigators are trying to determine why the man started firing his gun in the first place.

and lots of people checked off holiday lists in had on field the south jersey town making the hold weekend all about buying local gifts for the holiday season. several stores have special deals for small business saturday and as you can see lots of people strolling in and out of those stores. business owners especially happy about yesterday's turnou turnout. >> we can measure how successful you really are. if people make a point to support your business you're doing something right. it's kind of a sign things are going well. and it boosts your energy for the rest of the season. >> had on kneeled's event is one of many small business saturdays in our region. well, people in our area are dpeering up for what will be one of the buzzest travel days of the year. aaa predicts the most americans in nearly a decade are vl froming this holiday weekend. fox 9 sabina is liver at the philadelphia international

airport where crowds are expected all day long, good morning to you, sabina. >> it's like the rule of live tv where we got here. it was busy and i was excited and right before live it pretty much empties out. and handful traveling as they get in line and look at video and right where we got here you can see how busy the lines wer were. we were standing by security. and it was pretty busy, lines were not too long and things were moving pretty well. as you mentioned, it's one of the budsest thanksgivings since 2007 according to aaa and i heard somebody say the airport today will be a buzzier travel day than last wednesday was when everybody was coming in for the holiday, the thanksgiving holiday we talked to travelers headed out this morning and some of those guys were in the lines describing for you earlier.

morning. nothing going on on ultimate doppler across the town. next 6 hours looks fine. it's out west. denver up to billings this is a huge storm system it produces blizzard conditions. this system is net worthy it heads up to the lake and brings in moisture from south and another low will develop along the cold front. we will get wacked by two rounds of rain tuesday and then again wednesday. we're also going to see temperatures rise into 60s and by the way not a bad spread of rain expected one to possibly 3" and we need the rain. we're almost 6" below normal. this will be some beneficial rapes moving in early this week. 38 to 52 quite the spread of temperatures across town. tonight it's a huddle cuddle night. temperatures into the north and pine barrens 20s as well. mostly sunny skies tomorrow.

deadly. joining us this morning vain and vascular surge yoj of the vein and vascular institute thank you for joining us. >> thanks for having me. >> tell us about what the potential health risks are. >> whenever we're traveling more than fours hours that's a long travel period. that puts us at increased risk developing a blood clot in our legs and that could break off and travel to lungs. it's estimated there's 900,000 cases of what we call strvrment e, venus thrombo embolism that is a blood dmrot league that traveled to lung and one in nine people die this is significant health risk. >> absolutely. how do you owe know if you're on verge of potential health issue. >> well, about half people that have a blood clot don't know they have. it the other half will have pain in their extremity usually

calf and swelling in the leg. redness and increased war warmth to the leg will indicate there's something going on and that should cause a person to seek medical evaluation and typically what's done is non painful ultrasound and that ultrasound test will allow us to see the vains and determine if they're on and if there's any blood clots present. if there is, then that is something we would want to obviously treat and pip beingly that's why blood thinners had in effect. >> i had that didn't a couple months going had to get on the treadmill and get the heart rate going and everything was fine. but serious question you're driving down the road stuck in traffic what should you do put your foot out the window, >> the thing is simple things to do. one area we always think about with blood clots is traveling on airplane. you won't put your leg out

window on airplane. in that particular situation there's things you can do in simple maneuvers are one is plant heel on the ground and to raise your foot and start doing like as if you're pushing on gas that's a simple maneuver and what these maneuvers are are to cause the call of muscl muscles to squeeze and when the call of muscles are squeezing that's squeezing veins and causing blood. any stagnant blood could result in blood clot. one area where we're at risk is people who have varicose veins. and another exercise you can easily do is plant your toes and raise heels. if you do that you feel call of muscles squeeze that's a maneuver to do and last one if sitting on plane bring knees up toward chest and hold your leg

up and put your leg down. even though you're in confined space which is the problem. confined base not moving sitting there in imnoble situation for hours and hours and that's where if are you doing this for more than four hours that's going to raise your problem. >> your concern for it having a low blood clot. >> you have compression socks here who do you advice wear them. >> increased risk. older than 60. obesity is a risk factor and if you had recent surgery or if you have been recently hospitalized for more than a few days, if you're on estrogen therapy, birth control pills or hormone therapy if you're pregnant or in post partum period. these are individuals that can have increased risk certainly if you have active cancer, if you had previous blood clots. all people are increased risk

and should wear compression stockings and come in multiple styles. nowadays it's become fashionable to be wear compression stockings and people that had are not runners are wearing call of kleepz. these are all positives. this is example of a knee-high compression stocking and for a man which is a woman you can wear knee high or you can wear thigh high. >> okay. all that works. and you can get these at a drug store. simple as that. >> my pleasure. >> we want to coop you safe on road, in the air and also if out in the elements meteorologist mike msscoe. >> it's a beautiful shot and i lot of sun this afternoon. chilly. temperatures into the 40s for afternoon highs 37 in town. poconos recording 3. wild wood is warmest at 42. temperatures are several degrees colder than yesterday morning run around 10 to 15

table spoons of worcester sauce and you're going to bring this altogether and that's one a and two eggs and mix everything together and you're going to when you're done you're going to form a patti. consistency there's no consistency to it it's supposed to be bound together i think i will add a couple more eggs. it's light here. let's do that. you want it bound to form to patti. much better there we go. use four eggs not two like i originally said. i like this consistency better. i thought it was still too swot we'll add flour to it to dry it up a little bit. that's what you want it has to be a little sticky.

hash mixture is done turn into patties and fry them. roll them up a little bit. flatten them out flour, flour shake it off a little bit there you go. you got a pat write. let's do a couple more and probably 6 to 8 ounce patties they will not stick to your hands. add flour to your hands now we'll flour them and patti them up and shake excess flour off let's do one more. in our your hand so it doesn't stick. there we go. patti them up. flatten them out. add flour. and the purpose of the flour when flying is to crispen them up a little bit. >> there you go. now it's time to fry the brisket hash preheat oil over

medium heat. you hear that sizzle? that's how you know your oil is ready. there you go. everything is precooked all you're doing is heating patties through and trying to get crisp on each side. probably cook three minutes or so each side. you want them golden brown on both sides. because this oil is hot it can be dangerous. i'll use spatula and pair of tongz go under the patti hold with tongz and there you go nice even turn. same here, nice even turn. prevent splashing and nice eve even. >> another minute to go and let's check them. hold them up and lift with tongs and they're done. take them out.
