the united airlines pilot's union is now sounding off. easy for me to say. about the incident where a man was forcibly dragged off a plane. they're now blaming the chicago department of aviation. in a statement united pilots say they're furious about what happened and believe the chicago department of aviation response was, and i quote, grossly inappropriate. they've changed their story several different times. they also say united pilots were not involved because the flight was operated by a partner airline. the airline is under pressure from lawmakers and protest ors in chicago. this after dr. david do you's lawyer announces he plans to file a law seuvment no huge surprise. if you're going to eject a pass jer, under no circumstances can it be done with unreasonable force. >> dow's legal team filed a motion to protect and preserve
7:35 am
evidence needed for a lawsuit in response to the incident. unitedded says it's putting new guidelines in place by april 30 to address handling over booked flights and how its passengers are treated. attorney william poll okay is here to expand on this discussion exactly what the upcoming lawsuit will entail. good morning, sir. >> good morning, bill. >> we were talking about this off air before we came on. they're putting new policies in place. should we need them? there already was a process here. >> it's interesting. there are so many claims that the attorneys for dow could bring against united and the chicago department of aviation, even putting aside the recent statement that you just read from the pilot's association. you have assault, battery based from the physical interaction, you have negligence from the fact that united or the chicago department of aviation acted reasonably when they handled the situation. there could be a breach of contract claim. united has a 46-page contract of
7:36 am
carriage that we as united customers are expected to understand and agree to when we fly and we buy tickets. there is no language in that contract, as you can imagine. >> that says we can drag you off the plane. >> you have emotional distress which is where his attorneys will argue that united and the law enforcement official acted extremely out outrageous in the way that caused distress. he's going to look for payment of his medical bills. >> they established he was pretty significantly injured. >> concussion, broken nose. it's crazy. also punitive damage, beyond paying you back for your medical expenses we are going to actually penalize united and a the chicago department of aviation from doing what they did and deter them from ever doing it ever again. there's this whole term of agreement that we all sign, whether or not we know it when we get on board a plane. they do have a right to ask us to
7:37 am
give up our seats, correct? they can't just drag is off the plane? >> it depends on our legal definitions and the language of the contract. if it was a truly an over booked situation, yes. there is some language that suggests in the contract they have to do that. but here it appears there is no over booked situation. this was the airline trying to move their staff, their flight attendants from one seat to another. as we talked about before, this whole situation could have been resolved a lot easier with some more money in. that's all it takes. >> now it's going to cost mills how many millions in what's realistic to think in a case like this? is it just the damage, the medical bills in how much could punitive damages really be in. >> this is why settlements happen because united most likely and the city of chicago they don't this to go to a jury the fact of this video was so widely seen and widely viewed you get angry. as a customer
7:38 am
you get angry, flying with family and flying on airlines, even for business by yourself is stressful enough and now you've got this visual image of this poor 60 some year old doctor being dragged out bloodied. a jury sees this. united doesn't want to do anything with this jury. they want to settle it, resolve it. >> bills. in the punitive damages it could be tens of millions. that will be appealed which is why they want a settlement. resolve it. get it out of court and get on with their lives. this is a situation where you don't want a jury to rule on your claims if you're united and the city of chicago. all they had to do is offer some more money for another flight. let's talk about the apologies, the sorry, but not sorry-type apologies. >> we will have you back to continue discussing it. >> thank you so much. all they had to do was just give more tickets. >> weelt ' continue to follow it. two siblings are sharing a major life milestone, a pretty

7:50 am
life-changing side effects. these new recommendations are still just a draft and are open for public comment until may 8. how about this the importance of a good night's shlep is well known, but the results of a recent study from the american cancer society may provide more evidence of that fact. men who sleep less than five hours a night have more than 50 percent of risk of prostate cancer. thomas jefferson university hospital here to explain. this is a very good interesting study that was just release. the american cancer society has a very big study of men and women understanding their lifestyles and their health issues and what they rhysenly discovered was, as you mentioned, that men who sleep lens three to five hours a night have a 55 percent higher risk -- excuse me, 59 higher risk of dying from prostate cancer, which is very interesting. men who slept about six hours, it was about 29 percent. it looks like the
7:51 am

through their eyes what is going on. >> every time i go back to kensington i bring a stack of prints with me. i'm showing the prints to people and the people that i have been photographing, the people that are part of that community of addicts or ex addicts, people going through recovery in recovery, they're glad that somebody cares. at first nobody wanted to be photographs and now everybody wants to be photographed. >> i applaud you for it. i thought about going out with never give up. there are several groups that go out there and address people in kensington and one of the things we hear and we talked about this during the break is the difference between humanize and stigmatize. >> absolutely. >> everybody talks about the problem. but it seems like you were digging deeper than that. i'm just a conduit. it's not really about me. i'm just a conduit between the people i met on the street and their own stories that maybe they don't even twoont acknowledge and then
8:42 am
taking that story and with their permission getting it out into the world. >> you know, i think that like that helps. when you give -- when you don't come in with an agenda and you give people the opportunity to tell you how they really feel, to -- and even think about it. because they're constantly in a hustle. it's get quick money so you can get your dope or find a place to sleep. i am ' set up with this big four by five view camera and they're like he would, what is this? are you a documentary and they get into it and it goes places that i never knew. >> do we have the details on the book release in i don't know that we have it that we can put it up on the screen. i want to make sure that all the details are out, the release, the party. >> this is an entirely self-funded project and i am donated 10 percent of the

a tractor-trailer. fox 29's sabina kuriakose is live at the scene where she's been all morning giving us an update. >>reporter: good morning. four hours in from where this fuel spill happened and we still have crews out here cleaning up. you can see they've made a lot of progress until last time we showed you earlier. there was dry material all over spring guard spring garden. this is the dry absorbent material that they're using to absorb the oil and the fuel that spilled from this tractor-trailer crash. lets oh go to video, just after 4:30 this morning you can see from the video it looks to be a sports car that kind of crashed into the side of this tractor-trailer. you can see that sports car with its vertical doors extended upwards it has some heavy front-end damage. the tractor-trailer, the cabin of that that tractor-trailer doesn't look like it has too much damage, but
8:47 am
the body of it had enough where it caused some kind of a full spill. we do know that one person was taken to the hospital. we don't know the condition of that person or the extent of their injuries. but you can see it looks like a very serious crash. now back out here live i want to i before it out again, it's been about four hours since contractors with the city have been out here cleaning up. again we know it's some type of fuel that appears to be oil out here. the truck company is a local company out of monaco. it's a regional truck. they actually toed the truck earlier on this morning. in fact, bill, there's some cars parked along the liep. they had to bring a tow truck out here to get the cars out of here so they can begin cleaning up the mess. this is spring garden between third and second. northern liberties is on the border. if you're headed to this area, it's still closed. it looks like they're starting to wrap up a little bit, but it'sing going to take sometime. we're waiting

8:54 am
nodding her head. a new study published in the journal of sex research. an equal power dynamic is in a relationship. basically it found those who shared the power were much happier. here she is our love expert, and any white. >> she is an expert. >> i've heard things about you the last time you were here. >> all good. >> all good things. you handled it. >> we'll start with this power dynamic. >> any healthy relationship doesn't have a power dynamic because great relationships are about respect and reciprocity. now, reciprocity doesn't mean equality. like if you cook, i don't have to cook the exact amount of times you cook. i don't have to cook for how long you cook, but if you cook i'll knowledge that by cooking, cleaning and doing else reciprocal around the household.

>> that makes sense. that's how it works in my house hoavmentd my wife cooks, i try to clean. >> some port of balance. >> here's my theory and i'm not a love expert and you didn't do the study. when you talk about power dynamics, it seems to me that a the only relationships that have a power dynamic are bad relationships. if somebody feels like they're the subordinate, then that sounds to me like a bad relationship. you're not going to balance that out if you feel like you're not equal. >> absolutely. you can't. everybody is a love expert in their own right. >> that's true. but you can't. what do you guys say about there whole thing happy wife happy life because that seems like the woman is empowered. >> right. to me i know it's a cli shai, but i look at it like this, you're not thinking about yourself. that goes for whether or not it's my wife in my house, but it's my friends, my family, it's everybody. >> there's my beautiful wife right there. they're our

engagement photos. bottom line is, yes, i hear what you're saying about that, but there is a sense -- there is a piece of truth in that. but happy wife -- i'm not married, but happy wife, happy life is not giving that person power necessarily, it's just acknowledging that you care about their well-being. it's in the a power dynamic. because you could argue it is powerful to be willing to allow somebody to put someone else's happiness in front of yours. >> say it again, bill. >> say it again, bill. >> it's the couch. >> we saturday on the couch and started talking about this. i think historically women have felt like they have been in a subordinate position. at times men have thought historically this general thing. they h expect women to cook and clean and cater to them and do those things, women are in a new face, we contribute to the household financially now, so you need to contribute to the household by doing chores as well and helping us manage our house. >> it is our house.
8:57 am
>> that's ar changer thinking. if there's men out there that feel like you stay in the kitchen, that's so old school mentality and that should not exist anymore. >> it shouldn't. >> you got a surprise. >> i do have a surprise. q. what's the surprise. >> i told you last time i was here i was going to get you a book to help you best manage your marriage. >> a surprise for me. >> for you and your wife. q. miss andy wife. >> the five love languages. there's two cop 's. >> i suggest that you read it together, love on each other in that way. >> love it. simple ideas for a lasting love. >> thank you very much. >> you're welcome. >> we got to wrap, but to show your skills, you hooked mom up. >> i hooked my mom pup. this is the thing, the power dynamic starts even before the relationship. like a lot of women are taught to be disempowered in their relationship and i taught my my mom how to meet herman.
