cloud cover thickens and look at the rainfall off to the west. that will head in our direction for tomorrow. coming up we'll talk about the rainy start to the work week and unsettled pattern and preview upcoming holiday weekend forecast. >> all right. thank you so much scott. we begin this morning with breaking news. a house fire in overbrook. it leaves three people dead. jennifer joyce live at the scene with the very latest. hi jenny. >> reporter: good morning, lauren. so the fire commissioner tells us this fire escalate the quickly intensified quickly. even though fire crews were able to respond to the scene and attack the fire at a solid pace. three people trapped inside never made it out. this happened not far from the intersection of 56th diamond streets around 4:45 this morni morning. fire officials say that when they arrived they saw heavy flames shooting out the back side of the home. it's believed the fire started on the first floor. how we don't know. three people were trapped, a fourth person did make it out. that victim was transported to the hospital season doing okay.

>> showing on the first floor heavy in the rear. so batallion companies quickly went into service with aggressive offensive interior attack and the results are what they were. so it's a tragedy for these folks up here. it's tra tragedy for us citywide. >> reporter: fire officials say the victims are all family members. at this point they have not told us the ages of the these victims or the specific relationships and in addition to the fast-moving flames back out here live another hinderance there were no smoke detectors, lauren. >> that's always bad news. jenny joyce, thanks for the update. also breaking, nine people were shot north philadelphia overnight. police say a gunman opened fire on a crowd of 30 people who were hanging out listening to music and dancing. it happened in the 2200 block of huntington street around 10:45 last night. officers say a total of 27 bullets were fired. the victims are between the ages of 17 and 26. two are in critical condition. the others are stable.

police are investigating the shooting. now to our top stories. in south jersey, crews are getting the upper hand on a fire that's burning near the wharton state forest. it happened yesterday morning in shamong township, burlington county medford lakes fire department posted these images of the fire fight on facebook. flames have scorched roughly 30e threatened. investigators are looking into what caused that fire. jury selection set to begin tomorrow in bill cosby' sexual assault trial. jury selection will happen in pittsburgh and once the jury is cedar, they will travel to montgomery county for the trial. the process is expected to take about two weeks. cosby stands accused of drugging and sexually assaulting temple university employee andrea constand in his cheltenham mansion back 2004. culling up defense attorney chaka johnson joins us in the studio live to talk more about jury selection and the upcoming trial. now to developing story. three-year-old is in the

hospital after falling out of a window police are working to figure out exactly what happened. police got the call yesterday morning. the child fell out of a third story window on the 2100 block of dover street in north philadelphia. he was taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition. philadelphia police are investigating an assault at a philadelphia carnival. they say group of teenagers targeted a couple at the bbm church along old bustleton avenue yesterday. the husband and wife were were their children when they were attacked. the father hit in the head. the mother was punched. police have not made any arres arrests. nearly a dozen people have minor injuries after a deck collapsed at a home in roxborough. police tell us there were 16 people on that deck at a home along 8800 block of anthony lane when it gave way around 9:00 o'clock last night. 11 people suffered minor injuries. philadelphia's license and and inspection agents are now investigating. the search continues today for a teenager who went missing

in the delaware river. loved ones say ant and two fox jumped in the water even though he couldn't swim. fox 29's jennifer joyce spoke with the boy's father and his friends. >> everybody hurt right now. just hurt. nobody want to believe it. >> reporter: friends and family of 16-year-old ant and two fox full of emotions hours after police say the teen went missing during an evening swim in the delaware river. >> my son 16 years old, he cannot swim. he wasn't supposed to be out here. he was supposed to have been at his friend' house. >> reporter: fox's father larry bennett is trying to piece the story together. has a lot of questions. >> his friends came and knocked on my door and told me that my son was in the delaware river and they couldn't find him. >> reporter: bennett rush to the linden avenue boat ramp friday night where a search was already underway. it lasted several hours and resumed when the sun came up. >> a couple of us went up to the store and then we come back and all this happening, like, in the blink of an eye.

>> reporter: fox a lincoln high school sophomore was with a group of their best friends unwinding after a long week. even though fox can't swim, friends say he likes the water and jumped in a few times for fun with his buddies. >> they did it four times, he was perfectly fine. >> obviously he didn't expect things to turn out this way. no one did. no one could have been predicted it. >> reporter: fox is described as special young man who impac impacted teachers and staff at lincoln high. several of whom spent their saturday at the search site dealing with their own shock and sadness while also consoling their heart broken students. >> it's just not possible. this is just a dream. that's what i want to believe. just going to wake up and everything just going to be all right. >> my son is a beautiful son. he's a good kid. never hurt nobody and he's harmless and i just don't understand what's going on right now. >> reporter: philadelphia police combing through surveillance footage along the river to help clarify exactly what happened. in northeast philadelphia, jennifer joyce, fox 29 news.

arrest in the theft of a life size ronald mcdonald statue in new jersey. remember this story? thomas roman of point pleasant now charged with receiving stolen property. the 250-pound statue was taken from a bench at the end of april at a mcdonald's in clinton. the prosecutor's office had announced the statue was found ten days later. but we still have no idea where it turn up. check out this video. a driver lucky to be alive after his car ended up in the delaware river. it happened along tacony street in philadelphia. police say the man was driving when something went wrong and it ended up in the water. he was able to get out without getting injured. his car quickly removed and there were no delays or any road blocks. feeding the hungry at home and abroad. that's the mission of the links incorporated a community service group. they were dancing while they work hard yesterday in northeast philadelphia. the women putting their hearts and hands deep into their work packing up food headed to haiti. the links of delaware valley led the way while links sisters from

all over our area took part in that event. they call stop hunger now. >> we're packaging 10,000 -- over 10,000 meals today that will be sent to haiti. that's our goal to -- and we do this every year. it's such an enjoyable event for us. >> everybody knows the importance of feeding children nutritious meal so this is -- this is just great. so every year it's just a wonderful opportunity to give back. >> great work, ladies. since 1998, stop hunger volunteers have packaged 315 million meals that have gone to school lunch programs in 65 countries. philadelphia city hall looks a bit different these days and the work all starts at the top with philly's most famous face. steve keeley gives us a look at the much needed facelift. >> reporter: it's spring cleaning time here at philadelphia city hall. where all the scowering and scrubbing is being done on scaffolding head to toe. the toe up on top that is.

548 feet, 11 and a half inches up on top to be precise. at 37 feet tall and 53,000 pounds, it's the biggest statue on any building in the world. the bronze sculpture made up of 14 different pieces but before it went high up, the penn sculpture was first put together on the ground. where it was displayed for a year then taken back apart in 1894 and finally hoisted up back again in those 14 pieces to the top what was put back together there. there's a ladder throughout le leading to 22-inch top of the hat hatch and then a couple of times in the '90's for a flyers jersey and a phillies hat for those teams on the verge of championships they never wouldn't, of course, and seen as a curse and not tried since. as far as we know, there's no curse connected to cleaning up billy penn as we philadelphian s now affectionately call him. he's getting his fourth cleaning ever. a big expensive cleaning that's not officially called a

♪ >> 7:30 this morning. in delaware state police want to find a man they say choked a woman and then stole her cell phone. troopers say the confrontation happened thursday between stanley mumford and the woman near lewes. troopers say mumford hit the woman, choked her then snatched her phone. police did not say if the two know each other. mumford is wanted for strangulation, third degree assault and theft he already has an outstanding warrant in family court. also in delaware, this man is charged with attempted rape after breaking into a home and stealing a pair of women's underwear. state police say he broke into a house where two women were staying. they were hiding in bedroom and they escaped through window when he tried to get inside that woman. police say the man stole a pair of the women's underwear and left the home. when he was later found by police, they say he admitted he planned to force the women to perform sex acts on him. all right. 7:30 on this sunday morning. scott, you've had a nice few days of weather forecasting

ultimate doppler off to the west that is the storm system that will bring us the rainfall for your monday. so once again dry, comfortable for today. a rainy monday ahead. then we have several chances of rainfall next week. we'll talk about that and preview what to expect for memorial day weekend lauren coming up. >> everybody wants to know that. thank you so much scott. >> 7:32. tragedy in overbrook this morning. a house fire leaves three people dead and fire investigators make a disappointing discovery inside that home. let's get out to jennifer joyce at the scene on diamond street. hi, jenny. >> reporter: good morning, lauren. we're hearing more about the fire victims much the people who lived inside the house here on the 5400 block of diamond street from the many neighbors who have woken up to this tragic news. we're learning that a husband and wife lived inside the home with their two grown children. the wife is described as a pillar of this community who was very involved in anti-violence events making the neighborhood better. we're hearing her husband is an elderly man who was handicapped. fire officials have not

identified the victims but did confirm that three people who were inside the home here, again, on the 5400 block of diamond street have died. they were trapped by the smoke and flames. a fourth person was able to make it out safely and is in stable condition at lankenau happ hospital. fire official say when they arrived there was heavy fire on the first floor. how it started, we don't know. but officials say that the flames were fast moving and another hinderance is the fact there were no smoke detectors inside this home. lauren. >> so disappointing. jenny joyce, thank you so much. 7:33. jury selection set to start tomorrow for bill cosbys sexual assault trial. the jury will be chosen from pittsburgh and then travel to montgomery county for the trial that that will most likely last two week. cosby accused of sexual assault temple university employee andro ya constand back in 2004. chaka johnson in the studio to help us break down what we can expect. just this week. >> yes.

the judge in this case has all right ruled that some things that mr. cosby has done before, some interviews he's done before will be allowed in portions of the trial. >> do you think he was trying to be careful about what he said. >> right. but the problem is the portions that the judge allowing in things that will hurt you. this is your opportunity to say i didn't do this. those women are lying and let them let that in. >> right. okay. so pittsburgh is where everybody is going to be tomorrow for jury selection. what do you expect with that. >> allegheny county is the place to be this week coming you. >> correct. >> i suspect that, um, it will be organized chaos. >> um-hmm. >> this is a trial of the century with respect to, you know, western pennsylvania. >> yeah. >> quite frankly. but there will be some order. judge o'neill is a stickler for doing things properly and in order. and i think that they have it mapped out logistic speaking as well as one to expect. >> how tough will it be who hasn't heard about this situation. >> the question can't be in a case like this have you heard of

it? that's sort of a waisted question. >> right. >> the question and the root of everyone's questions will be, can you be fair, lauren? can you be fair? every question posed to a prospective jury will be to determine whether that prospective jury can be fair despite having heard. has the jury already made up their mind and that's what every question will be designed to unearth. >> now the jury is coming back here to our area for the trial. >> yes. >> he were think it will last two weeks or you think longer. >> i think two weeks. this will be arrived with objections and a lot of motions and side bars and it's going to be a very technical trial. so i don't see this as being, you know, the sort of trial much like an oj where all those moments of aha moments and that sort of thing. i think this is going to be a very technical game of chess between attorneys. >> we can't really have any excitement waiting out. is he going to testify. >> he already said he won't. the anticipation has been sort of pulled out of this case. >> right. >> you know, maybe that was by

on diamond street with more. hi, jenny. >> reporter: good morning, lauren. so fire officials tell us that this was a fast-moving fire, and although crews arrived quickly, the fire got a head star. there were no smoking detectors inside the home. it happen on the 5400 block of diamond street around 4:45 this morning. fire officials say that when they arrived, they saw heavy flames shooting out on the back side of the home. it's believed that the fire started on the first floor. how we don't know. the victims were trapped inside. fire officials say a woman and a young man possibly around the age of 30 were found dead inside the home. 84-year-old man was transported but died at a local hospital and 19-year-old jumped out of a second story window broke his leg but is in stable condition at len ken gnaw hospital. neighbors are waking up and learning the tragic news. they tell us the woman who died was a leader in overbrook. she was involved in anti-violence events and did what she could to make this neighborhood better.

>> another neighbor came by and said did you hear that, um, miss annie died? and that's when i lost it. because miss annie is a beautiful pillar of this community. i was going through my own stu stuff. she prayed and encouraged me every time that i saw her, you know, meet -- you don't meet people like that, never raised her voice and took care of her husband that was handicapped. my main message to this is people let's show love. let's show people we love and care about them every day because you never know when it's going to be your last. >> reporter: and people tell us that they actua actually sawn just yesterday organizing a party at a community room across the street from her house. this is three, three big losses for this community as investigators are still working to determine a cause. lauren? >> so sad and tragic. jenny joyce, thank you so much. also, breaking this morning, nine people were shot north philadelphia overnight. police say a gunman opened fire

on a crowd of 30 people who were hanging out listening to music and just dancing it happened on 2200 block of huntington street around 10:45 last night. officers say a total of 27 bullets were fired. the victims between the ages of 17 and 262 are in critical condition. the others are stable. police investigating that shooting now. now to our top stories in south jersey crews are getting the upper hand on fire that's burning near the wharton state forest. this started yesterday morning in shamong township, burlington county. medford lakes fire department posted these images of the fire fight on facebook. flames have scorched roughly 30. but no homes are threatened. investigators are looking into what caused that fire. jury selection set to begin tomorrow in bill cosby' sexual assault trial. jury selection will happen in pittsburgh and once the jury is seated they will travel to montgomery county for the trial. the process expected to take about two weeks. cosby stands accused of drugging and sexually assaulting temple university employee andrea

constand in his cheltenham mansion back in 2004. all right. three-year-old in the hospital after falling out window. police are working to figure out exactly what happened. police got the call yesterday morning. the child fell out of a third-story window on the 2100 block of dover street in north philadelphia. he was taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition. philadelphia police also investigating an assault at a philadelphia carnival. they say group of teenagers target add couple at the bbm church along old bustleton avenue yesterday. the husband and wife were with their children when they were attack. the father hit in the head. the mother was punched. police have not made any arres arrests. nearly a dozen people have minor injuries after a deck collapsed at a home in roxborough. police tell us 16 people on that deck at a home along the 8800 block of anthony lane when it gave way. this was around 9:00 o'clock last night. 11 people suffered minor injuries. philadelphia's licenses and inspections agents now

is coming up back to you. >> thank you very much, tragedy tis morning after house fire leaves three people dead. now fire investigators making a disappoindisappointing discovere that home. let's get out to jenn for joyce live at the scene on diamond street. hi, jenny. good morning, lauren. so we are learning that all four of the fire victims are family members. fire officials say that the fire was fast moving and although crews worked quickly the fire had a head start because there were no working smoke detects in the home. it happened on the 54 hun doctor block of diamond street around 4:45 this morning. fire officials say that when they arrived, they saw heavy flames shooting out the back side of the home. it's believed the fire started on the first floor. how, we don't know, the victims were trapped inside. fire officials say a woman and her adult son around the age of 30 were found dead inside the home an 84-year-old man was transported but died at a local hospital. a 19-year-old jumped out of a second story window, broke his leg, but he's in stable condition at lang gnaw hospital. neighbors are waking up and
