toll is likely to climb. >> now to developing story out of lehigh county tense hours for police yesterday after a traffic stop led to all day standoff and ended in murder-suicide. it started when police tried to stand over a man and woman for an outside warrant and when the driver took off the suspects fired at police. >> left their car and fled on foot and the officer gave chase on foot. at that point one of the suspects fired on the officer. >> they went door to door for neighbors at gunpoint when the that didn't work they barricaded themselves nod a house. police talked them out having to use tier gas. when the police went in the couple was dead from apparent murder suicide. police say they never fired a shot. suspect's names were not released and da says they were not from the our area. >> a family reunited in south

we're seeing my first question for you which is this an issue of this is police procedure verse when's is this utter disregard for life. because maybe there's prejudices involved. >> some of these cases do possess prejudice. you have to look at the case as a whole and what the case is about and in all cases including this case all the jury struggled with a verdict. you cannot plame the jury ultimately you have to plame the law and what they're interpreting. when you talk about preming disin this specific case the one with mr. deboise you look at the case in general he said the car was trying to drive away he was caught by his arm and he was in daipinger and had the right to shoot him. they made changes in the police report. his partners concurred with that and shows there's a level of preming guess after the fact to cover themselves. so actually this person really didn't get a fair assessment when this whole thing was

analyzed. >> when you look at cases i think for so long we always heard if we have pody cameras and dashcam video that will show us what really happened. in fill apd owe castile 'case we have dashcam video and the officer walks up to the car and dashcam video sort of stops not stops but we cannot see what happens inside the car and then his girlfriend diamond starts recording on facebook but we miss a moment right there for the jury to know exactly what happened inside that car. >> but i think there's two explanations of what you aske asked. you asked about proliferation of video and how that impacted the whole police investigation. good news is it brings it out fo to forefront we see what's going on and it's police to police level the playing field and bad news it puts prosecutors in bad position because they only investigate these case as i couple days and rub for indictment and put it on the jury hey look we indicted officer it's up to

the jury the jury stuck to the law and it's not favorable to the person that was ultimately shot and killed. that's really what happened with video. video it's a big debate. i think it's necessary and ultimately you'll continue toyp have problems with acts of police. and in this particular case when we're talking about castillo case the officer was put in a position where he knew the individual had a gun. he auns noed he had a gun. now he has the threat. when he has a threat he has rights to use debately force. if he believes he will be killed or someone around him he can shoot and has to shoot until the threat is extinguished. that's what you've seen here. these cases are all case by case. you have to look at them as a whole and understand the law. >> looking forward from your legal perspective do you think this changes anything for us or this is exhibiting the jury says they can't decide reign so it's tough.

my mom called me saying hey the hospital called us all family members need to go to the hospital. so i'm like okay this happened before. like my dad he was always sic sick. i'm like he'll get past it he always z like in january he had a big scare. so, i'm like he'll be okay. so i came in and saw him attached to all life support i started crying. like i was like yelling. >> naturally. >> and i was just staring at him like what's happening he had gone into complete liver failure. he always had liver problems and bunch of medical problems. but yeah he went into complete liver failure. he was basically on life support. and then so we came to the decision that that day that if something were to happen we would not resuscitate him but keep him on life support. next day i went to the hospital again and, doctors said that his number were getting worse he was not

getting any better so everybody else came to decision we were going to take him off the life support machine. >> it's all right. it's okay you can cry. >> no doubt. >> we would take him off the life support machine and so, so i guess i was lucky in the sense that i was -- he was responsive. like he could blink and stuff. so he was responsive and we -- he could hear us i was lucky in the sense we were able to say i love you we would be okay. >> good. >> so now are you keeping your promise that you made to dad. >> yeah. >> to graduate. >> i said. >> at the top of the class. >> yeah. i told him i was going to graduate and i told him -- i was not -- all my college acceptances were not in at the time but, thank you, they were got in at the time i told him i would go to college and go at the time the one that gave me the most money so my mom wouldn't have to pay.
