hundreds of school kids and a new jersey cop. the police officer sure can dance. turns out his kids wrote the song and made up the dance moves. they are dancing alongside dad. wiggle wiggle. >> coolest cop ever. th >> the subway is in crisis. they're stepping it up and now calling for a millionaire -- this is warfare. >> you can play it safe. are they just one of the most incompetent transit systems in the world? >> what program --
12:31 am
>> welcome to chasing you. thanks for joining us today. for months we have been talking about the subway in new york. i don't think there are many people that would deny, it is a mess. it's late, it smells, quite honestly it is cap next disgusting and inefficient. after talking about whether the mayor would do anything about it, he finally ask, of course his way of acting could make it worse. he has decided the way to fix the mtas to tax the rich. how do new yorkers feel about this? >> the subway is in crisis. constant delays, electrical breakdowns, single problems. on top of that, some are held together by zip ties. the governor cuomo has declared a state of emergency a mayor diblasio stepping it up and calling for a millionaire's tax to help fix the subway system. >> that is why today i'm calling on albany to pass a millionaire's tax to support the mta.
12:32 am
>> according to the plan, about 1% of new yorkers living in the five boroughs would be affected. if you're making about a million dollars, you pay $2700 more annually in taxes. i ask new yorkers how they felt about this. >> they need someone, the money is coming from someone else. >> the rich so it shouldn't be a problem. i think it goes towards helping the subway and making things better to those weren't rich. >> i be willing to chip in. >> are you rich? >> i'm not rich but the other have a fix in the subway are below poverty level and our metro cars. so if you could get regular
12:33 am
people. >> let's bring in our panel. welcome to chasing news. >> welcome back, jeanette, it's good to see. >> so i hear the story and right away i can almost predict exactly where people are going to be. but i have to ask the question, if there's a not going to be $10 instead of $2.75, who else is going to pay for? >> this is classic warfare that build the plaza has tried for the third time. you can't tax the rich. the rich can leave. the new york city millionaires are flight risk. you can lose that income tax if it gets too high. so, we have a tax funded surplus. if you're looking to fund the subway system should start there. >> i think we need to ask the fatcats, we need the money, bottom line.
12:34 am
people are paying $2.75, the average taxpayer new york doesn't have enough money. that i want to pay a higher fare. so go after people who have the money. if you are rich in new york you can afford more. >> you read the subway all the time, you have a great first-hand perspective, is it about money? you have read eating pizza, homeless people urinating on the corner, the place stinks, it's [inaudible] time. is it about money or they the most incompetent transit system in the world? >> it depends on how you look at it. it's a question about money because they say they need more money. but when you look closer you realize they've been having money, is just mismanaging. >> so mismanaging, but your fiscal conservative. as act i i'm tired of hearing about the talking points. it seems like there's a let's not tax the rich because they will leave. then if they are going to grab
12:35 am
money where they grabbing it from? the main reason was it was regressive. it went after people regardless of their income and it stuck the guys driving the trucks and cabs and neubert drivers. >> we have to generate some money. the system needs repair however, my first question is, what programs can we cut as opposed to generating revenue attacks in the 1% who are not the people who are using the subway. >> you heard what sibile said, you have rats, you have urinating homeless people, you. >> it's a mess. >> but to say that we don't want to tax billionaires, you're talking to people who are generating billions of dollars, how do not say come on,. >> i think there's interesting political dynamics at play between governor cuomo, the governor of new york and new york city mayor, bill diblasio. they're feuding and butting
12:36 am
heads. the governor saying it's not my problem. the mayor said it's not my problem. you will see governor cuomo come out against the tax against the rich. >> look at the bridge, record time, on budget, they built that bridge faster than a local bridge in summit new jersey. >> but were dealing with a third world subway system. with a premier city in the world. >> it may be cuomo should be mayor. >> there's antibody was doing that to put cuomo in that situation. it's going to be a really interesting dynamic. another political point, just last week mayor diblasio was criticized for cozying up to a very wealthy donors being really close to them. it's interesting how couple of days later he took but that attacks against the rich. >> do you think he's gone
12:37 am
through the problem. >> partially. but while this is a city tax, it will have to go up to albany. so, the governor will have a say. the legislator will have a say, the senate is controlled by republicans. so you will be interesting to see if this bill even pass. >> the senate republicans have said no way. you have a surplus in new york city, you're not raising tax. >> well he is running for reelection. >> something has to give. you can have trains held together by zip ties. the question is for you, let me know, do you agree? should the billionaires pay more? of the fares go up? or is it not a question of money and diblasio and the governor should be firing the people in charge? let me know, tweet us. >> despite laws on the books, making sure you can't be cruel to animals, no matter for the new jersey legislator, we need more laws then governor christie agreed inside a new bill this week about where, when, and how
12:38 am
long animals can be left outside in bad weather, cold weather, and hot weather. what he got. >> parents know not to leave their underage children. but what about your cat or dog? what happens if you leave the pet unattended? governor christie has signed into law a ban on leaving your pet unattended and chained up in temperatures that are freezing or reach 90 degrees. now, the rationale for a law like this may seem moot, wide we need this? it turns out numerous reports of dogs being left outside in freezing to death. so animal lovers introduced a bill lester to put a stop to that. if you break this you could be find anywhere from 100 - $200. if you are a repeat offender,
12:39 am
your dog, cat, pet could be taken away by local government or humane society. >> i want to bring back our panel, thank you, jeanette, political's strategist. i'll go to first, here this on i think, this is a republican sponsored bill. now, this to me speaks volumes for how inept, incompetent, ineffective the republican party is. they're completely useless. with taxes this is what they're worried about. it's already illegal to have a job dog chained up. >> i would think it's -- animal-rights lobbyists are very tenacious to get this done. that being said, i think it's common sense and wide we have to keep legislating this. why do we need more laws on the books? just because your cat or dog is an essential air-conditioning.
12:40 am
>> to have a cat? >> yes i do have a cat. your dog owner. >> i do. >> right now have a your key. it's my wife's dog, but like i said. >> i had a boxer, that died during sandy. >> let me ask a serious question. you don't need a law for this. this is outrageous. to me, you're an attorney, first of all just a distraction away from real issues. the issue i have is how do you low the homeowner dog owner has left the pad outside? i can see his neighbors having a problem with somebody and saying it's been out there for 31 minutes and that's illegal. >> that's a different issue, that the burden of proof. that is where i come in. i challenge that. with evidence, cross-examination and argument. >> right here, this is another problem where they try to add
12:41 am
more laws when they are ready have them, so they can address them. so that's the point, their unnecessary. >> christie signed 50 bills. none of which are making new jersey more affordable for middle or working-class people. >> some people think we need the saw, i don't know. our animal supposed to be outside? what do we do before central air-conditioning. >> yes. these cats and dogs are born with can be outside. we had lost before they were not working. dogs are die. >> we have to leave it there. i'm sure you'll agree with something they said, maybe not all of it. but, even one thing you will agree with her one thing that drove you crazy, tweet me that bill spady, tweet the show. >> is a getting warmer and see levels are rising. >> there's a difference between people who understand climate
12:42 am
change, and then there is
12:43 am
12:44 am
>> despite the fact that more than 7 million people die every year to the greatest
12:45 am
environmental killer the earth has ever known, mostly endorsed pollution, politicians would rather talk about climate change. you know it's interesting about climate change? do not spin getting warmer and the sea levels have been rising since the early 1800s. i'm pretty sure that was well before al gore was just around the world in his private jet. one of the big villains if you listen to the activists is this tiny molecule called co2. the activists want to stop it. alex, you talk to professor who has written sensibly in defense of co2. >> i want you to meet doctor have her, he's a professor emeritus at princeton university who will stake his life on the believe that climate change is largely not caused by mankind global warming is not going to intensify. he's a proud -- against mainstream science which is flawed and alarming.
12:46 am
>> you have to confess your fate. it's like a confession of faith. it's not like normal science. >> in fact, we should welcome more carbon dioxide because crops will be more fruitful. but he's been ostracized. >> i get death threats, my grandchildren are threatened. what kind of movement is that that they have to threat my grandchildren? >> don't mistake this climate atheist for someone who doesn't love the planet. he would never dream of littering. >> if i have the slightest out, maybe i'm wrong. i know a lot about most people in the. >> so i want to bring them back. thanks for being here. professor, prince university although he's vilified, the
12:47 am
reality he is not a denier. he is in the amount of human activity that is blamed for climate change really isn't. it's a natural cycle and it happens every year. jeanette? >> i think there's a difference between people who understand climate change in the climate change alarmist which is what were seeing a lot, just today nikki haley, the u.s. ambassador to the un said were not saying climate changes it real. were saying there needs to be more balanced a measured approach which the trump administration just pulled out. we need to take in account jobs and the economy when rebalancing these issues. >> would you buy property beach right now? >> actually not. although i think this person's credentials need to be checked. >> he's the minority approach here.
12:48 am
this is timely news because there is a new york times article yesterday, the u.s. government draft report that has to be written every four years said this in fact is the real deal. it's a draft report. it will have to get through the trump administration. >> there are reports that come out all the time. if i'm correct a lot of the un reports have been adjusted going back. we didn't exactly have this with that right. if the sea levels are rising, even if we come to the conclusion and say every 1500 years the cycle repeats, their studies on that, shouldn't we be talking about better policy in terms of protecting our oceanfront's? why do we rebuild the ninth ward in new orleans? because people live there, but why are we not litigating against these.
12:49 am
if everybody accepts that they're coming. right now but were throwing it at flood insurance. >> you need to invest in construction. in the next 50 years look at the boardwalk built with stan climate change, $7 million a mile. >> isn't that fake news? is not really about climate change. it's a natural cycle of the earth and storms that are coming. on the frequency of the storms, there were more per decade than there are now. >> he's not ruling out human activity. it's just a small part of it the most other. >> so you are political strategist. >> what you do? >> i think the majority of americans believe we should take a measured approach. the presiden peers agreement use need to stop relying on apostle feel. 87% of our energy comes from fossil fuel. we need to take steps to reduce
12:50 am
them. we can't eliminate them. energy crisis will go up. >> i'm hoping if the alarmist are effective i'm thinking oceanfront property will drop in value and i'm looking for some. >> thank you. listen, agree, disagree, her some you love, you just want to fight me on? tweet me and tweet the show at chasing news. >> here's a look at some of the headlines were chasing today. north korea has threatened physical action against u.s. and italics for the un sanctions it imposed after the regime's defiance on the ban of nuclear missile testing. the trump administration is urging more pressure as north korea's moving anti- ship cruise missiles. there is a settlement that killed one person of morgan. morgan of saturday night live was seriously injured when a walmart truck trash into a limousine band on the new jersey
