wildwood at 74. 73 in atlantic city. look at the numbers north and west we're into the upper 60s this morning. so very comfortable delightful treat. 66 doylestown. 68 in chester. the dew point numbers starting to drop. that's an indication of the cold front moving across the region. so nice breeze five to 10 miles per hour. an you can see the front well out towards the open waters of the ocean. there might actually somebody three to 5-foot surf today. so just know if you're going to the beach might have to encounter that. otherwise all the precipitation is well to the east now. we'll be watching a lot of dry real estate out to the west move in the next 24, 36 hours look really good. and then we'll start to focus our attention down across the western atlantic. right here tropical depression that we're keeping close eye on that could form into a tropical storm. right now winds at 35 miles per hour it will be moving northwest and then eventually will hook out to sea that's good news. actually had front that moved through last night will push the storm out to sea, and that's going to be allowing for some great looking conditions back

closer to home. upper 80s are the name of the game. north and west of town. lower 70s as you get along our coastal points and then for tomorrow, i think more clouds start to work into the picture as the winds turn off the waters. so we might actually see just a cloudier day for your day on monday. 73 goes to 75 and then we're up to 83 degrees for your afternoon today and then tonight delightful air. temperatures that will be falling back into the upper 60s that's in town. maybe a few spots into the upper 50's for our northwestern suburb f you're going for the beach or taking the boat out temperatures in the low 80s rip current risk low. seas will be around three to 5 feet. we'll come back and talk more about your seven day forecast. it's going to get a little hot. lauren talk about that coming up in just a little bit. >> mike, thank so much. new developments this morning after a deadly day of protests in virginia. three lives are lost after violent clashes in charlottesville. it all started at what was supposed to be a peaceful protest at a white national lift rally this morning we have new dramatic video of scene captured by drone that shows the moments before and after that car attack

that left one dead and several injured. and we have to warn you, please keep in mine, the video is quite graphic. one woman died in that crash. and at least 19 others hurt after the car plows into a crowd of counter protesters. today, 20-year-old james alex fields, jr., of ohio is in police custody. he's facing a long list of charges including second degree murder. this morning the mother of that suspect speaking out fox 29' is that so bean in a kuriakose has more from the studio. hi, sabina. >> good morning, lauren. reporters spoke with is a hannah bloom outside her home in toledo ohio from the video it is clear from her reaction he was just learning of the horror authorities allege her son unleashed on that group of counter protesters after allegedly plowing his silver dodge challenger through that crowd as he saw from that video. this is the suspect 20-year-old james alex fields injury his mother says he grew up in kentucky but the two had recently moved to a suburb of toledo, ohio.

authorities say fields was attending what is believed to be the largest group of white national lifts to come together in over a decade including neonatzis, skin heads and members of the kkk. bloom confirms she knew her son had strong political views and that he was attending some kind of rally. but she appears confused to learn of the violence he's now accused of including the murder of a 32-year-old woman who died when police say fields drove through that crowd. >> i just knew he was going to a rally. i mean, you know, i try to stay out of the his political views. you know, he went don't, um, you know, i don't really get too involved. i mean he had an african-american friend. i mean so -- >> is this surprising to you then i guess? >> yeah. that he would run his car into a group of people -- i'm really not clear on. >> virginia has declared a state

of emergency. officials including the governor and president trump have spoken out regarding the violent. let's listen. >> -- message to all the white supremacistsupremacists and naze into charlottesville today. our message is plain and simple. go home. you are not wanted in this great commonwealth. shame on you. >> we condemn in the strongest possible terms this agregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides. >> reporter: meanwhile, we have just learned the identities of the two state troopers who were killed in a helicopter crash as a monitored the situation on the ground during these protests. the pilot was 48-year-old lieutenant hj cullen. trooper burke mm bates was the passenger and he was just one the helicopter they were in was helping with public safety during the chaos in charlottesville when it went down.

ntsb is investigating, and again the federal government has opened a civil rights investigation into fields alleged rampage. us attorney general jeff sessions issued a statement saturday night to announce the probe. he says, the fbi wonder agencies are working to collect all the information surrounding the deadly attack. so lauren this morning we know a total of three people dead including those two state troopers and dozens of other people injured. violent day indeed. back to you. >> all right, sabina, thank you so much. back here at home, many people standing in solidarity witness people of charlottesville during this time of chaos. large groups led a peaceful protest vigil rally and march here in center city. joanne pileggi was at city hall last night. >> reporter: they want their voices heard. they are sad about the violence and angry about the white national lift event in virginia. >> what i watch on the news today was heartbreaking, and i -- i see hate in this country

and i see white supremacy in this country. >> i'm upset about charlottesville. >> reporter: group of activists from around philly met at city hall this evening to mourn the death of the victim who was run down by a car at the rally and march in charlottesville. an event that exploded into chaos and violence as supporters, anti protesters and law enforcement clashed. >> when the system allows this to happen this is what's going to happen much this is the end result. you know, people don't -- people start fighting. people start dying. which i don't want that. i don't want it to happen. >> it really is up to us as white people to start changing this. white privilege is what has led to this. white supremacy is not acceptable in this country. >> reporter: activists recognize the right to free speech but they are angry that the white supremacist movement still exists. >> people are righteously outraged and full of heart ache that this is what it means to be a life in 2017.

that was joanne pileggi reporting. coming up at 7:15 how celebrities and other influences are responding to this devastating a tack at 7:45 live discussion on how people are responding to the president's handling of this horrific crime. back here at home let's get to breaking news. a fire breaks out inside a mini market in north philadelphia. this happened at the mini mark at the corner of dauphin and north 25th streets. blaze started around 1:00 a.m. and crews had it under control within the hour. one person was taken to temple hospital. still no word on their condition this morning police are still trying to figure out how it started. in strawberry mansion an elderly man falls into a sink hole. it happened late last night around 11:30. police say the 68-year-old man was on the 3100 block of west norris street when he fell into the 8-foot deep hole. he was taken to temple university hospital with unknown injuries. also this morning, police in camden county continue to search for a teenaged girl who went missing. police say imani beth a lehman

northwest wind coming in at seven. that dew point value yesterday was right around 72. this morning 65. so that's an indication the humidity levels are dropping and that's going to pave the way for a beautiful day. 60 in the poconos. 71 in philadelphia. we have a lower and middle 70s across our shore points. wildwood holding on to 75 degrees. that's going to change though the front is right offshore and as that front continues to push off towards the south and east watts it's going allow for mostly sunny skies to break out and you can see right now just a few thin clouds across town right now shower activity across the delmarva otherwise this is out of at a. lots of dry real estate out to the west. watching a tropical system just to the north of hispaniola. you can see it's really starting to develop in here it's now tropical depression on its way to becoming possible al tropical storm in the next 24 hours. winds at right now at 35 miles per hour moving to the northwest at 14. now notice the tracks going northwest and then eventually hooks it out to sea. that's because of the cold front that moved through last night. so that's going to act as

deflector and push it out to sea. we're not going to have to worry about any tropical issues. i think the seas may crank up. probably in the next two days and then that could also aid in the risk for rip currents. be very careful out there if you're going at the beach. look at this air out to the west. 60s and 50s beautiful across the ohio val until will set up for temperatures that will actually be pretty much on par for average if not blow normal. 85 philadelphia. 80s out to the west. not seeing much heat on the big boards so we got a couple of really nice days expected to set up if you'll be in the city today temperatures right around 86 degrees. we'll go 81 down the shore. lehigh valley and poconos will be into the lower 80 today's. so we got great afternoon set up. 87 in town. 70s to the north and west. i think it will be mostly sunny skies at time fair weather clouds move in. otherwise down into the 50s and 60s for the overnight hours. here's your seven day forecast. 86 today. do that again tomorrow. i think it's going to be much cooler along the coast because the winds will come out of the east and then by tuesda, starts

♪ as the heated war of words continues between north korea and the united states, china's president now hoping cooler led will prevail n a call to president donald trump the chinese president asked both the us and north korea to tone down the rhetoric before thing get out of hand much despite being its largest economic ally and partner, china has said it alone cannot force north korea to give up its nuclear ambitions. mr. trump also spoke with the governor of guam to assure him u.s. forces stand ready to protect the small island territory. speaking of guam north korea's threats do not seem to be impa impacting tourism for the us territory. beaches and other tourist attractions in guam continue to be filled with people. local tourism companies aren't reporting a decline in business because of the news, but some are expecting some last minute cancellations. in recent years, the island has experienced record high numbers for tourism. president president trump and

10 miles per hour. so it's a breezy type of day this afternoon but a warm breeze. i want to bring you to the tropics. because we now have tropical depression that formed overnight. just north of hispaniola moving to the northwest but this cold front that moved through last night is actually going to act as like a linebacker. pushing this storm or keeping this storm out to sea. so northwest motion and then eventually it will hook out to sea. i think the seas will actually enhance and even the rip current risks as we get into the next couple of days so if you are heading let's say this is a vacation week for you, and you're heading down to the shore, you might want to check in with your lifeguard before you go in. otherwise there's the cold front pushing across the region just a thin veil of clouds across south jersey and into delaware. eye we're not really seeing much on the big boards you see some active weather out to the west. that is going to take its sweet old time to get in here i don't think it's going to move in thunderstorm variety actually until thursday. future cast showing us middle and upper 80s today. tomorrow more clouds and temperatures that will be into the 80s. i'll come back talk more about in some heat in the seven day

úforecast coming up in just a little bit. >> 7:31. continuing our coverage of what became a deadly protest in charlottesville, virginia. all stemming from a white nationalist rally in left three dead and dozens more injured. sabina kuriakose has the latest on this morning's developments. hi, sabina. >> good morning, lauren. well, now this morning, we are for the first time hearing from the mother of the alleged suspect who rammed his car through a crowd of counter protesters killing one person. reporters spoke with samantha bloom outside her home in a suburb of toledo, ohio, and it is clear from her interview that she was just learning of the horror authorities allege her son james alex fields, jr., unleashed on group of counter protesters after plowing his silver dodge challenger through that crowd. let's listen to what she tells us. >> i just knew he was going to a rally. i mean, you know, i try to stay out of his political views. you know, we don't, um, you

know, i don't really get too involved. i mean he had an african-american friend. i mean so -- >> is this surprising to you then i guess? >> yeah. that he would run his car into a group of people who are -- i'm really not clear on. >> reporter: you can just see the confusion on her face, and in her voice. again her son has been charged with second degree murder among other things. now virginia has declared a state of emergency and meanwhile we have just learned the identities of two state troopers killed in the protest as well. they were in helicopter that crashed as they monitored the situation on the ground. the pilot was 48-year-old lieutenant hj cullen. trooper burke mm bates was his passenger in the chopper. he was just one deathy shy of his 41st birthday. again the helicopter they were in was helping with public safety with the chaos in charlottesville when it went

thank you so much. 142 people a day that's how many people are dying every single day from the opioid epidemic and president donald trump getting pretty tough on the problem this past week and eye opening study on the epidemic in our city in philadelphia found that one in three adults in philadelphia used opioids in the past year. 13% said they used one in the past week. the health department survey found most of those people were getting those opioids from their health care provider nearly 20% are getting them from friends, relatives or even street deale dealers. devon receives a occurring addict turned drug counselor serving on mayor kenny's opioid tack force joining us this morning. we were chatting. i had a hernia surgery in june. and before i left i had a prescription and i noticed oxycodone. so now in my cabinet pills. is this where it sort of starts for some people? >> yeah. there's lot going on here. i think the first thing we need to do is to teach doctors that a three to 5-day prescription of

opioid social security really what we need to be doing. giving somebody a 20 day or ten day supply is just too much and what this leads to this is ticking time bomb in your bathroom. anybody can get this. and find this and maybe start to abuse it which will lead to severe consequences. it's really a shame that that's still there. >> tell me this, devon. when does it go from maybe i had a surgery i took a few pills to now people are using needles and shooting up and when does that jump take place usually? >> you know, it's often a lack of training by the medical community because when the doctor realizes that somebody has problem, they cut them off. >> okay. >> they don't refer them to treatment. they don't help them get help, and that person has a physical depends to that opioid, and they can't just stop because they're going to get sick. they're going to go the street. they're going to doctor shop and sadly often they end up using heroin and it's not long after you start heroin eventually you start shooting it. >> a lot of people it's easy to

drive through neighborhoods in philadelphia see the problem, judge the problem, but not really help with the problem. how can we help. >> you know the biggest thing is for people in recovery people that have experience with substance abuse to talk about it. there's so much shame and stigma around this and peel just don't talk about it. people are in the closet around ths issue. if we can raise awareness that's the first thing we can do. the second thing we can do is really talk to our legislators. there's so many laws in place that disenfranchise communities of color, diss end france cheese people that use substances, and as long as that continues to happen, people that use substances will be a second class citizen in our country. >> for you, when you hear the president finally say, this is a national emergency washington was your response to that? >> tempered, because declaring a national emergency is a process, right. he needs to send paper work. he needs to take a specific law. really what the president did he made it soundbite. i think it's an emergency he's not the first president to speak
