one from police and one from the people who live here and who were here on what they say happened. let's go to video right now. here's what police say occur. around 5:00 aft 11:00 a bike sergeant and two officers were on patrol along the 2500 block of alter street just off germantown avenue here in north philadelphia. now they say they saw a man standing between two cars with a gun in his hand and here's what philadelphia police say happened next. >> sergeant gave orders fort male to drop the gun. the male started running on fo foot. he fled on foot. fled through an al old south end of the block an alley between a yard and a house. and at that time the male did turn around point the gun at the officer. the sergeant i should say at that time the sergeant did discharge his firearm. >> reporter: back out here live, now that man is in critical condition at temple university hospital. he has two gunshot wounds. one to his lower back and the other to his leg. now, this morning i spoke with the man's friend an eyewitness

off camera. he tells me that his friend was already running away from police when officers discharged their weapons. he says that the sergeant actually followed his friend moot alley and continued to shoot. now last night there was a large crowd out here gathered we'll have much more on that coming up in half an hour. i also wanted to mention that police did not mention to us last night whether there was any returned fire. eyewitnesses say they weren't. we're stitt still waiting on authorities to tell us that. much more coming up in a half hour. back to you lauren. >> thank you for the update. new overnight one person is dead this morning after driving the wrong way on the new jersey turnpike. the accident happened around 11:30 last night in the northbound lanes near exit four. police say an suv was driving southbound in the northbound lanes when they crashed head on into another suv. the wrong way driver was killed. two people in the other car were taken to cooper hospital wit. now to our top stories, a second kiss shot friday night dd from his injuries the officers were checking on suspected drug

it's something to distract us from all the bad news i really have been enjoying the solar eclipse stuff. but here we are looking at down the shore and temperatures at about 67 degrees. dew points following in behind at 61. those winds out of the northwest talking about 7 miles per hour but a really nice start to our sunday. if people are still down the shore. it's going to be really nice one. all from this high pressure system that we have off to the west of us but it's in control of the forecast. you can really see through the mid atlantic and even into the northeast a lot of us are dry and sunny to start with today. and so that's how we're going to finish our day up as we head into sunday afternoon. we'll actually see more sunshine as well. so here's a look at your future cast. i'll push it through not much to talk about as we head into our sunday through our sunday. and then by monday, monday morning we'll wake up there's going to be little bit more cloud cover early monday morning. and then it does say this is one model is saying there could be a few isolated showers as we head into monday afternoon. not everybody is going to be seeing some wet weather. i know a lot of people are

more cloud cover tomorrow i'll talk more about that coming up in the full forecast. i'll show you your future cast and kind of the cloud cover that we are expecting in the afternoon. lauren. >> okay. look forward to that. breaking right now the details of a police involved shooting unfolding after a man pointed a gun at bike officers last night in north philadelphia. sabina kuriakose is at the scene with the latest details. hi, sabina. >> reporter: good morning, lauren. that suspect is in critical condition this morning. he has a gunshot wound to the back, also, gunshot wound to his leg now it happened according to eyewitnesses in this alley that you see behind me and people say last night was a nice night there were a lot of people out. a family reunion going on nearby. so they say this was a -- the worst thing that could happen. let's go to video that we got for you last night. here's what police say happened around five past 11:00 o'clock bike sergeant and two officers were patrolling along the 2500 block of north add derr street just germantown avenue they saw man with gun standing between two cars. officers say they ordered him to drop the weapon but that he

instead ran and then turned and pointed the weapon at the officers. a sergeant fired four times hitting the suspect twice. crowd of neighbors and eyewitnesses gathered they were angry and upset. unconfirmed reports indicate bricks and bottles may have been thrown at officers. now here's what philadelphia police said happened just after they were continuing to investigate. >> the time it was a male with a gun and one or two other other people and maybe a larger crowd i'm not entirely sure that male did in fact point gun at the police officer as he was running through that alley and the officer did discharge his weap weapon. >> so philadelphia police adamant the suspect turned and pointed his weapon. his gun they say at police officers. although witnesses here say the suspect never fired at the officers. again this investigation is still in its early stages we're waiting for more information from police surrounding just into what happened. but again that suspect is in critical condition at temple university hospital shot once in the back and once in the leg.

system off to the west of us much this high pressure system is keeping us clear and dry and most of the mid atlantic of the under the same thing northeast mid atlantic controlled by this high pressure system so it's clear and dry. a nice go of it for our sunday. unfortunately, as we head into our monday we'll see a little bit more cloud cover let's take look at that on your future cast here we've got clear skies extenting all the way into the afternoon evening of our sunday. now we're looking at your monday morning. a little bit more cloud cover down towards delaware. by monday afternoon around one, 2:00 o'clock we may see more clouds filtering in. possibly a few isolated showers popping up i think the key here is isolated i know it's the solar eclipse and people want to get out there and look at the sun, safely with those glasses. we may have to be dodging some raindrops but not everybody will see the wet weather i still think we've got good visibility for the solar eclipse here in the northeast and mid atlantic. all along the eastern seaboard we've got some good visible. now the central us unfortunately

in parts of texas all the way up into the dakotas they're dealing with some weather we're talking clouds and rain. their viewing not as nice unfortunately. it's kind of sandwiched in between the west coast and the east coast looking good when it comes to that solar eclipse. high today 88 degrees. lots of sunshine. it's hot. but not as hot as what we've got on tuesday. can you believe it, lauren? we're talking 92 degrees. i thought we were done with the 90s. >> apparently not, monica. we have to brace for that. all right. 7:47. it's a problem many of us have encountered a lot of people deal with it on day to day basis. we're talking hostile work environments. they being a bully? and a tough boss is going to expos to you constructive criticism. the bullying boss is going in for dee constructive criticism. it is the mow tough in the boss. the tough boss will break you down and build you up a bullying boss will break you down to see you crumble. it's better about whether they want to inspire you or intimidate. obvious in that video we saw earlier that was awesome a bullying boss will do that. they'll scream at you. humiliate you. they'll with hold information. they'll set you up and if you don't follow what they want, they will go out to get you but a tough boss is just going to ensure that you follow the standards, that you become the best version of yourself, that you show up for work on time. so lot of times when people go, my boss is so this. i'm like are they expecting you to be self aware and in cell sole and self disciplined be to be a better person. if so and you trust them that's not bully boss much that's just a tough bosses. the tough bosses make us better. >> you go in and train some managers and high level people

in businesses. do you think they're aware at how much of an influence they have on their workers? >> probably not. and listen, i even -- i've been leadinleading since i got my wok release papers 40 years ago. i think it's a work in progress. we start out we don't know what we don't know. so you talked earlier about if you encounter some behavior from your boss that's on the threshold, have enough self worth to go to them and say, hey, do you know i know what you were trying to do but you came across as a real you know what. >> right. >> and i've had some people when i was at junior officer i was in the air force i tried to act all officer like i had some of my folks come to me and say hey, we know what you're trying to do but your way of doing it is completely unacceptablcompletelo thankful if you come to your boss and say, hey, you've passed the threshold. one twenty four things will happen. they're either going to go, you know what, thank you i didn't know. i'm a junior officer. i'm green. i'm a new manager. i was once your co-worker now i'm your boss i'm trying to figure out what the levels are. >> gotcha. >> every day. the other thing they'll be like,

really, lauren? now i'm going to get you. >> yes. >> it will be very obvious if they're going to do that or not. >> a lot of people are scared to have those conversations because it's the boss and they get afraid. >> you have to. >> you have to. >> try and resolve it at the lowest level. sooner or later you'll be sitting across the table talking to that bully boss either with hr or with legal or whoever. so you always want to give them the opportunity to correct they're behavior it makes you look like a professional because the first thing that happens if you don't tell your bully boss, hey, know yourself worth and know there's some things you probably need to change too you go to them and say hey this is going to stop. that make you look like such a professional because when you do use the chain and go up to hr or their boss first thing sale did you talk to them about it no. it look like you're part of the problem. don't be a tattletale. >> exactly. >> deal with it. >> right. >> okay. you have a new book and you're speaking direct toll millennia millennials. why millennials and what's your message to them. >> my message to millennials the

back up. 71 in millville. 68 for those of us in dover. we're talking 67 degrees right now in reading. by 9:00 o'clock, next few hours or so, 74 degrees. mostly sunny. those winds out of the northwest today 10 miles an hour. despite that northwesterly wind, we're still heating things up because we've got lots of sunshine. we'll be about 87 degrees later this afternoon. it's going to be hot, it's going to stay hot even as we head into our monday. for the solar eclipse. remember max eclipse here 2:44 in the afternoon. good visibility throughout. coming up at a look at the full forecast we will be talking about some cloud cover on monday. maybe the chance for some showers but stick around much it's not all bad. we still got good visibility i'll talk more about that coming up in just a bit. lauren. >> monica, thank you very much. suspect is in the hospital after being shot by police. sabina kuriakose is live in north philadelphia to explain exactly what happened here. sabina. >> reporter: good morning, lauren. well, we have competing accounts

from authorities and from eyewitnesses. we do know that one suspect was shot in the back by authorities, and it happened in this alley here behind me. let's go to video though from last night that we gathered for you. now here's what police say happened. they say five after 11:00 o'clock last night a bike sergeant and two officers were on patrol along the 2500 block of alder street. they say they saw a man standing between two cars holding a gun in his hasn't and here's what philadelphia police say happened next shortly after they began investigating. let's listen. >> the sergeant gave orders for the male to drop the gun. the male started running on fo foot. he fled on foot. fled through an alley on the south end of an a block an alley between a yard an house. and at that time the male did turn around and point the gun at the officer. the sergeant i should say. and at that time the sergeant did discharge his firearm. >> reporter: again, police say that that sergeant shot about four times. the man was shot two times, once

in the back and once in the leg. he is in critical condition at temple university hospital. now, the man's friend an eyewitness that we spoke to this morning says his friend was already running away from officers into the al whole he says that that sergeant discharged his weapon. he claims that his friend never fired back at authorities and last night police did not confirm whether or not there was an exchange of gunfire. large crowd also gathered after all of this happened. a reports indicating hundreds of people here they say they were angry when we talk to them this morning. some folks in the neighborhood that they were angry that this happen. let's bring it back here live. you can see police tape still taped up at the scene here. but again one man shot in the back. police still investigating. he is in critical condition and this morning people here still upset over what they say happen we're still trying to piece together the details lauren w we get them we'll bring them to you. right now back to you. >> sabina, thank you very much. new overnight one person is dead this morning after driving the wrong way on the new jersey turnpike.

the accident happened around 11:30 last night in the northbound lanes near exit four. police say an suv was driving southbound in the northbound lips when they crashed head on right into another suv. that wrong way driver was killed. two people in the other car were taken to cooper hospital with minor injuries. let's get to our top stori stories. second kissimmi police officer shot friday night has died from his injuries. the office were checking on suspected drug afternoon in a neighborhood south of orlando when they were shot several times. officer matthew baxter died friday. sergeant howard died afternoon. one suspect charged with first degree murder with other charges now pending. meanwhile neighbors bringing flowers, letters of gratitude and messages of love for the officers as the community mourns the loss of those two men who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their community. >> you feel like a punch in your chest but when it happens so

close it was traumatic. >> let them police officers know that we're here. not everyone feel what these people whoever they are that did -- it's wrong. i hope that their time will co come. >> there will be a prayer vigil at the intersection where both officers were shot and later died it is schedule for later today. and to jacksonville officers expected to be okay after shot were shot. just after 11:00 o'clock on friday night a couple was fighting when police arrived on the scene. derek, died after shootout between himself and police. officer michael fox was hit in both hands. officer kevin jurrell in the abdomen. both of those officers expect to make a full recovery. back here in pennsylvania state troopers in fair chance recovering after they were shot by a suspect before officers returned fire killing the shooter. a second trooper was also shot friday night but has since been released from the hospital. authorities said the troopers had a ranged meeting via facebook witness person selling a video game console. they suspected had been taken in robbery. one week after the deadly

radar. this is just one model's terms of tomorrow a few other models that have it much drier. so again, here in the mid atlantic and northeast region we've got some nice viewing capabilities as we head into monday afternoon for the solar eclipse. unfortunately the central u.s. can't say the same thing. areas all the way from dakotas back into texas and into the southeast have kind of fair to poor visibility and then the west coast looking like they've got some good visibility so it's kind of like the east coast west coast looking good for the solar eclipse. central us unfortunately is dealing with cloud cover and some rain. 88 is your high for today. lots of sunshine. hot temperatures. it's hot today. but look at this. your seven day forecast, only gets hotter. we actually have the return of 90-degree heat. it's only one day, 92 on tuesday. but then as we head into thursday into the low 80s i like low 80s better than 90s. >> perfect. kids will go back to school soon you don't want the schools to be

who hot. this reminds us of the age old question, what time should your kids go to bed? right? it's something a lot of parents are still trying to figure out whether getting into a routine, to heat up a cup of warm milk, play soothing music parents will try anything to help kids get the rest they need. parenting expert katie is here with helpful tips. my nieces are twins and they're 12 years old. they tell me so many stories about how they sneak into each other's rooms at night and lay in bed and talk and my brother probably has no idea they're not sleeping. >> sure. well, maybe he's hearing a little movement upstairs. and that's not a typical whether they're twins or just siblings. you know, when mom and dad put you to bed, sometimes you want to get up and play. i know my sisters and i certainly did. we didn't have like the iphone andism pad that we were sneaking, but sometimes we had like the flashlight and paperback under the cover. it certainly difficult no matter what age your child is, my son is ten months old, it's hard to get them to settle down and go

to sleep and sleep through the night, and summer kind of the wheels come off. >> i know. >> you're swimming. hanging out. >> you're going on family vacation. staying up maybe to like watch the fireworks. like i did in longport, new jersey, with my family last night. and all of a sudden it's like, back to school. we got to get back on that schedule. so routine is what you think is sort of what is important for kids. >> yes. i think that most pediatricians and parenting experts would say that again no matter what age your child is, routine is just crucial. my baby boy is ten months old. of course, we're not thinking yet about the going back to school phase. but just getting him into a routine to successfully sleep through the night. you know owe really at his age should be sleeping ten to 12 hours through the night. that kind of decreases the older that your child gets. >> okay. >> but as you're a parent preparing to get your kids back to school, yay, parents rejoice they're going back to school. you have to transition them going to sleep at a certain time and waking up at a certain time

making sure they're getting enough sleep through the night they'll be energized and ready to faux cups learn during the day. >> right now is not too early since school starts after labor day. just few weeks out. now is the time. >> absolutely m schools in pennsylvania are actually starting a week from tomorrow on august 28th so i think that starting a week ahead of time, oh, boy, your kids will probably fight you. i don't wanting to to sleep early. summer not over yet if you start to set that routine, you know, starting with dinnertime. dinnertime, bath time, story time, get in your pajamas. some families choose to say a prayer before bed. put on lull la bees or soft music, you cuddle with mom and dad, that kind of repetition and routine started a week before it's going help you when it's the night before school. especially because as we all remember, the night before school you get that excitement. >> yes. >> those back to school jitter. >> yes. >> if you're just starting that night, oh, boy, your kid is all ramped up, now my mom who was teacher for nearly 30 years she would always make us a big

turkey inn dinner the night before the first school of school. >> turkey makes you fall asleep. >> exactly. i don't know. system a myth? i have no idea. at least we had really good full belly and that was sort of our back to school night tradition. so even if like a week before we were fighting my mom and saying like, oh, no we're not going to bed early. we're not going back to school yet that night before we always had that, that's correct tradition. that routine. and that would help us not only settle into sleep well through the night but, you know, like i said work through some of that excitement and those back to school jitter that is can sometimes keep kids, you know, of any age up. >> devices. do you take them out the room? is that the best thing to do. >> this is like so many things with parenting. it is your personal preference. >> right. >> i think that the things that we've learned the studies have shown that even an adult looking at a screen as their trying to go to sleep it's throwing them off. that kind of light in your face is really not good. so maybe if you want if it helps

as we head into the afternoon and evening. we'll keep it clear and dry. temperatures in the low 70s at this point in philadelphia. 71 for those of us in wilmingt wilmington. dover in the low 70s as well. wildwood 73 degrees. and the boardwalk in atlantic city coming in at about 70. so we're starting to warm things up thinking within the neck half hour or so we'll be at about 74 degrees. noontime northwesterly winds at 10 miles an hour. we're at 83 degrees at that point but those northwesterly winds are going to bring in drier air but not cooler air. look at this your high today 87. so a warm go of it. as we head through today. lots of sunshine today. tomorrow we're going to see little bit more cloud cover. so you're probably saying how does that affect the solar eclipse and our visibility. we still have good visible here in philadelphia and the delaware valley but there could be some cloud cover and maybe even some showers. i'm going to break it all down for you coming up in a look at the full forecast we'll take look at your future cast and see what those sky conditions were look like as we hit max forecast in just bit, lauren.

the dew point in the low 60s. it's a nice day. lots of sunshine to enjoy. here we are looking at your current setup. delaware valley pretty quiet. mid atlantic northeast a lot of us starting off with sunshine because of this high pressure system off to our west. that's in control of the forecast. and that's keeping us clear and dry for today. now as we head into monday, this high pressure system is going to slide off to the south of us. and then we're going to kind of lose some of those clearing skies. because what's going to happen some cloud cover will move in as we head into our early monday morning. so the rest of our sunday looking gorgeous lots of sunshine and then as we look towards monday morning, we're talking partly cloudy conditions. into the afternoon. we could see some more clouds filtering in. a few isolated showers around two, 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon. now that's exactly when people are going to be outdoors looking for that solar eclipse. i still think we've got good viewing conditions out there because we are talking isolated showers and just a few clouds in the central u.s. unfortunately

sun flares. >> that's what causes the northern lights. >> in many steps, yes. this is a representation of magnetic turburlent on the surface of the sun, and more sun spots can create more solar flares. a lot of times we experience magnetic energy from the sun as northern lights or southern hemisphere surgeon lights. >> the way you break it down i feel smarter knowing you. i wanting to through the whole line. you have so many ways to view this eclipse, save ways because that's why we have to have the glasses. keep our eyes save. tell us about the sun spotter here. >> sun spotter is a great fun way to actually see the surface of the sun. it's like a telescope just foldly over a couple different ways. >> look at that. you can see an image of the sun. there it is. >> just like we saw with our tell scone you can see anime mast of the surface of the sun here. >> what are we going to see during the eclipse. >> we're going to to see the moon blocking out a lot of the sun. here in philadelphia 80% of the total eclipse you'll actually see a sliver of the sun over top of what's being block out by the
