than what you're saying. we'll talk about it. all right. welcome to good day on this sunday, september 24th. scott let's start things off in the weather department. >> absolutely a lot going on. of course we got the big eagles game taking place at the linc later on this afternoon weather by the numbers scale of one to ten, another ten but it will be hot temperatures by this afternoon topping out in the low 90s. live look right now along the parkway. we're dry, we're quiet but those temperatures already this morning in the low 70s. 71 degrees right now. humidity at 68%. the humidity that will creep up later on today along with those temperatures. so right now, low 60s down the shore. 61 degrees in wildwood. 61 atlantic city. we have 61 degrees in pottstown. low 60s colonelly in the lehigh valley but get ready for that heat pump all because of the jet stream pattern. a dip in the west that's where we have the trough but in the east, we have that ridge so high temperatures upper 80s to low

90s. so let's get right to the forecast later on this afterno afternoon. kick off time 1:00 o'clock. a lot of sunshine. already 87 degrees at 1:00 in the afternoon. well above average for this time of year. not feeling like fall football weather is he stay hydrate. loose fitting light colored clothing and certainly have that sunscreen because those temperatures are going to climb look at this. 91 degrees later on this afternoon for center city. 84 degrees down the shore. 89 for the lehigh valley. mind you the average high temperature for this time much year is only in the mid 70s. so feeling more like july. the tropics still pretty active and water temperatures right now down the shore the delaware beaches low 70s. but we still have that rough surf because of jose last week. so a high risk for those rip currents along the jersey shore. , the delaware beaches just be mindful of that and then coming up, we'll talk much more about

hurricane maria and what that might do for sections of the carolinas and also the mid atlantic. back over to you. >> lauren. >> scott, thank you very much. we begin this morning with breaking news out of center ci city. gunman on the run after a shooting near a nightclub. fox 29's jennifer joyce joins us live from the scene with the very latest. hi, jenny good. good morning, lauren. live at 13ing and chancellor streets and this happened just before 3:00 o'clock this morning it's pretty remarkable nobody was injured. there are a lot of people out here enjoying philadelphia night live on saturday night. lots of activity at this time right across the street from voir nightclub there's a pizza shop across the street here that's open until 4:00 a.m. so a lot of people still making their way out of the bars at that time of night. police say the shooter fired multiple times near parking garage here at 13th and chancellor streets. then he took off running. police are looking into whether or not he ventured down to the patco line at locust street.

another interesting piece of the story investigators say a man with multiple bullet holes in his car pulled to jefferson hospital. he told people he thought he was shot and drove off. police are looking int looking r that person is connected to the shooting. you can see surveillance cameras on the corner right in the middle of where these shots were fired. so that should provide some clues as police continue to investigate. lauren? >> jenny joyce, thank you so much. two men in custody this morning after allegedly pointing a gun at officers in north philadelphia. officers were patrolling near new york street and north 13th streets around 10:00 p.m. when the frightening encounter happened. police tell us one officer fired three shots. no one was hit or injured much police later arrested to men at carlisle and york roads. investigators have not recovered the weapon. a woman is recovering this morning after being shot overnight in east germantown. this happened around midnight in the 5600 block of stokes street. at last check she was listed in

stable condition. no arrests have been made. meanwhile, police are still looking for the driver who hit a 31-year-old man in kensington yesterday. it happened around 12:45 in the morning on tioga street. we're told the victim suffered some serious injuries so far police have made no arrests. and police responding to reports of an active shooter on the indiana university campus much the school posted updates on twitter telling students to lock their doors and shelter in place. it happened just after 1:30 this morning. iu police say robbery suspects fired shots near henderson par parking garage and ran off across campus. almost two hours later, the warnings were lifted. blooming ton street have taken over the investigation. a chester county man accused of sucker punching a disabled man will appear in court tomorrow. police arrested barry baker for the assault in took place outside his 7eleven back in may. baker admits he clock add 22-year-old west chester man who had cerebral palsy. he claims there was an earlier confrontation with the victim at

♪ let's head to puerto rico where officials are rushing to evacuate tens of thousands of people living downstream of a fallen dam. the malfunction happening in the aftermath of hurricane maria. authorities launched an evacuation of the 70,000 people from the dam in northwest puerto rico with communications down from massive power outages frantic warnings on twitter went unseen by many in the blacked out coastal area. the 345-yard dam which was built around 1928 holds back a manmade lake covering about two square miles. more than 15-inches of rain fell on the surrounding mountains after the category four hurricane left the island wednesday afternoon. swelling the reservoir behind

the dam. and people across mexico ran from their homes saturday morning as 6.1 earthquake hit less than week after another quake left more than 200 people dead. no major damage or deaths have been reported from the latest tremor. meanwhile people in mexico city are still holding out hope that some of the hundreds listed as missing may still be found ali alive. of course, we're all holding out hope for that. want the best for the people of mexico. scott, it's sunday. >> eagles home opener down at the linc. >> they are in for a scorcher, lauren a lost sunshine out there on this sunday morning, but temperatures well above average. it's already in the low 70s for the philadelphia area. we'll tack on about 20 degrees to this later on this afternoon. humidity will be inching up as well. look at the numbers right now. mount pocono 64 degrees. low 60s in reading. also into the lehigh valley. we have 64 degrees in wilmingt wilmington. low 60s right now down the sho shore. so off to the west, temperatures

this morning look at minneapol minneapolis. 71 degrees. 71 in chicago. we're looking at the 70s into sections of texas so the heat and humidity will continue to build today and also tomorrow. so here's the bottom line. the normal high temperature for this time of year, 75 degrees. temperatures rapidly climbing into the 70s. then eventually the 80s and then an afternoon high temperature look at that 91 degrees so hot and also humid if you're stepping outdoors to the linc later on this afternoon. the lehigh valley temperatures right around 90 degrees. 90 in reading for the afternoon high temperature. what about 90 degrees in sections of new castle county, delaware much mid 80s for atlantic city. low 80s in wildwood. let's talk about the tropics. hurricane maria now category two hurricane so it has weakened some, but look at the movement due north now at about 9 miles per hour. so what does this mean? as we move toward the middle part of the week, coming close to the outerbanks of north carolina, around cape hatteras, rough

surf, dangerous rip currents and some beach erosion for us by the middle and latter part of the week. but you can see, it will make right hook back out to sea so likely staying offshore but once again still dealing with the rough surf and also those rip currents for the delaware beaches and also the jersey shore. so look at the spaghetti plots taking it north and eventually more of that right hook because of high pressure that will help to try and kick it out to sea. that weather authority seven day forecast, 91 degrees for today. that autumn heat continues into monday. 90 degrees and then we slowly drop those temperatures into the low 80s for tuesday, wednesday and thursday and then by friday into next weekend, that's when you can break out that fall wardrobe boy next saturday, lauren. high temperatures only in the 60s. >> all right. scott, thank you so much. 7:16 this morning. premed president donald trump coming under harsh criticism from athletes in all sports after name calling and strong

>> breaking news at a south philadelphia fire crews have flames under control after fire broke out in a garage on south water street. you can see black smoke coming from the building. several firefighters on scene there. luckily, no one was hurt. and investigators in new castle county, delaware, charged a man with setting a house on fire this morning. michael williams is facing charges of reckless endangerment and arson. firefighters were called to saratoga drive shortly after 5:00 yesterday morning when crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. depth pee fire marshals later arrested williams. officials say the fire caused $200,000 in damage.

week by next saturday, lauren, temperatures only in the 60s for highs. >> man, what a change. okay, scott, thanks so much. following breaking news out of the center city this morning. a gunman on the run after a shooting near nightclub. jennifer joyce joins us live from the scene with the latest. high, jenny. >> reporter: good morning, lauren. and it is scary, because you know this neighborhood much this is midtown on a saturday night there are people everywhere. so the shooting happened before 3:00 o'clock this morning. it happened right down this alleyway near the parking garage. but if you take look right across the street we have clubs, they're voyeur nightclub which let's out at 3:30. mares pizzeria capelly which doesn't close until 4:00 o'clo 4:00 o'clock. a lot of people still making they are way out of the bars like time and woody's and restaurants like alvez. the shooter fired multiple times near a parking garage. then he took off running. police are looking into whether or not he may venture to the patco line at locust street. another interesting tidbit to the story, investigators say, a man with multiple bullet holes in his car actually pulled up to

jefferson hospital, he told people that he thought he was shot but and that he drove away. police are looking into whether that person is connected to the shootings. there are surveillance cameras on the block that will certainly help. police relieved to say nobody was actually injured but lauren as you reported, i think more than a dozen bullets were fired overnight. >> must have been scary. jenny joyce, thanks so much. other top stories, there will be no charges in the fatal maryland police shooting. prosecutors decided not to charge two police officers who fatally shot a man during a confrontation after traffic stop this summer. frederick county states attorney charlie smith said he determined the officers use of force was justifiable. authorities say on july 10 police attempted to stop a van connected to a burglary when it rammed undercover police vehicle and headed toward three officers who were on foot. meanwhile georgia tech leaders say they're making changes in the wake of the police shooting that left student scott schultz dead. university president says they will will be appointed four

with a lot of sunshine and hot conditions. so once again, water temperatures still in the low to mid 70s. so lot of folks down the shore, the delaware beaches. irish weekend in north wildwood. we're talking about rough surf so just be mindful of that high risk for those rip currents. hurricane maria right now a category two hurricane churning up the waters of the lap so that will mean dangerous surf and rip currents continuing into next week. movement now due north about 9 miles an hour. closest approach will come toward the outerbanks of north carolina bite middle of the week then it looks like the computer models kicking it back out to sea with that right hook. so we'll continue to monitor that forecast over the next several days. but it still looks like dangerous surf and moderate to high risk for those rip currents for the delaware beaches and also the jersey shore into next week. back over to you. >> all right. tank you so much, scott. health care for everyone. that's the mission that drives doctors and volunteers to help the uninsured, undocumented

considering all things in headlines right now? >> well, sadly it's very timely. i mean in terms of it's a tough time but it's also an important time for organizations like th this. >> steve, why do you what do y you? >> um i have a skill set, and there's a need. >> how big is that need for people who don't upped maybe some of the fears. when we hear about the hurricane stories, people scared to go to shelters because they're afraid. ice officials will be there. they'll be deported. how afraid are people to get the help they need when it comes to their health? >> um, i think people put a certain amount of trust in the sanctity of health in their bodies and there's a belief that there's -- almost the sacred place to go. >> right. >> and there's a need. and the alternative is to allow a condition to get to a point where it's critical and more costly and not always the best

out comes and so i think there's a sense that this is -- there's an urgency to it and a need and -- >> maxim sim, what do you hope to accomplish in this documentary? >> i think the idea is just to put a human face on this population ton really put people in the shoes of the health care providers and and have people see them moral and ethical obstacles and choices that these people face and so i think just to give that human face. >> gotcha. steve, how do people learn about your clinic? is it more more word of mouth of the success stories that come out of there. >> word every mouth to begin with because we started as free clinic one night a week and then gradually expanded service and you know as a small clinic you don't want to overwhelm your capacity to meet the expectations and needs of the community. there was plenty of work to be done in just by word of mouth.

hurt. two men in custody after allegedly pointing a gun at officers in north philadelphia. officers were patrolling near york street and north 13th stratt around 10:00 p.m. when the frightening under counter happened police tell us one officer fired three shots. no one was hit or injured. police later arrested two men at carlisle and york roads. investigators have to the recovered a weapon. a woman recovering this morning after being shot overnight in east germantown much this happened around midnight in the 5600 block of stokes street. at last check she was listed in stable condition. no arrests made in that case. now to developing story from overnight. police respond to reports of an active shooter on the indiana university campus. the school posted updates on twitter telling students to lock their doors and shelter in place it happen just after 1:30 this morning. iu police say robbery suspects fired shots near henderson parking garage and then ran off across campus. almost two hours later the warnings were lifted. blooming ton police have now
