curiosity. democratic new jersey running mat sheila oliver cast vote last year which has many in the jewish community upset. oliver was one of three assembly members to vote against the bill that would probe about it state pension funds from in vesting in a company that would comply with bds for boycott investment in sanctions which is anti-israel. i spoke with murphy his running mate sheila oliver's anti-israel stance and we could not grasp the answer. >> could i ask you real quick. oliver supported the anti-israel boycott campaign, can you speak to that? are yore views in line with hers? >> my views cash this is a bill i would have signed if i were governor. i would have voted on. if i had been in the assembly. most importantly, i would enforce it. >> however we did follow up. murphy does not agree the running mit's vote. in a statement from murphy's

campaign, it is safe, he has spoken out forcefully about recent incidents of antisemitism making it clear the state will never cave. that commitment will not change as governor including enforcele new jersey's anti-bds will you and as lieutenant governor, oliver will fully join. we also reached out to murphy's opponent, lou tenant governor and as you know. >> the largest percent taming of jewish people in the country. and the fact that murphy would pick someone to be the running mate who voted against one of the most important pieces of legislation to protect that country and ever to be passed boy any legislature is an important indication of how he will lead. he says within thing. he does another. >> i am ashley johnson, reporting for chasing news. >> thank you, ashley. >> all right. i want to bring back our a plus panel. an immigration attorney. thank you for sticking with me. jim mcqueeney from "new jersey now" good see you and bobby, i

want to start with you. sheol willing oliver was one of three members of the assembly out of 90 to vote for what has been called the boycott sanction of israel. i think it is clear to see she is anti-israel and may impact. what do you think? well, i don't think it is clear she is anti-israel. the vote was to create panel to look at companies in new jersey that may be part of the vbs movement and may not be a part of thes have movement so more about creating the panel who is doing kind of unvest sewing don't think against israel in ann woo. jim, a couple of hot button issues. you have oliver in trouble over the comment and the visit to cuba where the whole cop killer convicted fugitive in cuba, now you got this potential of anti-israel sentiment out there. does it hurter? >> it doesn't hurt her at all. by the way, i went to cuba. i went to see what human rights shores were. i assume she was the same thing, right? none of us can bring back, right?
3:18 am
put that in perspective. >> it sounds look you went for two different reasons much? anyway, on the issue in general. in both spots by the way. who are they? no one knows. this is a referendum on trump, christie when who is running now. i hate to be cynical about it. >> to that point, i look at it one way, regardless of with we don't have to have debate about this boycott and sanction movement and i think it is very anti-israel but that aside when you are one of only three out of 80 members does it show the democratic side has radicalized and very, very far left out of touch. >> no, you know, we are describing mote eves to things that are complex as we have been saying. a lot of moving pieces to them. the fact when i looked at it she was within of three and trust me she has courage to go against the herd mentality she had her own reasons for doing she's anti-israel and a huge mistake and i don't think it means we are going far left. >> how else would you describe a
3:19 am
vote that was specific to say that we are supporting a boycott of israel. >> no democrat in new jersey if they want to get elected is going to be anti-israel. i don't think the mote eves as bob said is issue of anti-israel. i don't know what the motives are because she voted with philosophy behind it i suppose but pit is not a punitive thing and israel. it is ridiculous. u comment on this. what about the idea the guys are ut of touch. not only issue which has new jersey police very upset and the fact she went to cuba and not there to sample cigars and there to make statement. now this anti-israel stuff and then you add to it talking about factors. i mean, are these guys complete leaflet touch with new jersey voters. >> i don't think so at all. this is an effort from opposing side to create a smear campaign against her pulling something. when read it. it seemed leak he is coming out of nowhere. this is a vote that was over 12 months ago. she was one of three individuals and again, it was a panel that was going to look into new

jersey companies that was not for or against the movement so i think it was n effort to find something, and a needle in a haystack against murphy. >> i like at it to be a point of desperation. if you are going to go back and describe a mode of something year ago. you got a problem. >> let me ask you this. where does the muslim community stand on this. are you in favor of the boycott and invest in sanctions. i don't want to stand in the community. on be half of myself. i stand with the u.n. the u.n. has also sen out letters to companies around the world including the united states and saying that if they, if they continue to support companies that are in occupied, and there will be some ramifications for that. so i stand with the up in. >> again, so tell you a quick thing right away. this is another typical issue. so you are the fact that neither candidate really has addressed and has the biggest in new jersey and far from property taxes the pension trouble in the state. we are horrible.
3:21 am
it is a in sterrous financial impact of the state. do you hear anything from either candidate running for governor? >> no. i got say. the issue of israel. now, it ises in the a defraction. the israeli, the jews have every right to defend themselves against terrorists. that is what they have been doing. it is a shame. i think oliver should pay political price for that. fret see you. thanks for coming in. jim, bob, thank you, guys. have a great weekend. here is a look at headlines we are chasing four tonight. >> posting for fot toes with senior military lears. president trump told reporters this may be a calm before the storm. >> some are speck late he was remember referring to north korea or the iran nuclear deal. after they respond toad report two of dogs on the should ear busy interstate 280 in newark they found a german shepherd lying next to a pit bull.
