governor. stev wrote an machine piece why he has the momentum right now. >> right now, i think the narrative that is out there, that is going against murphy is that people are afraid t that he is going to tax us. >> meanwhile, we reached out to murphy and were given less than an hour notice that he had a campaign event with congressman done al cain at 11:00! a testimony the come from the heels murphy big rally with obama thursday. obama spoke a lot about the division we have seen in the country. >> some of the poll tk we see now, we thought we put that to bed. i mean, that is looking foo years back. >> the public has leading guadagno among voters who made up their mind. the columnist conducted his own polls.
3:03 am
>> i asked which one? i have a good sense of community with my social media presence out there, and again, it came back overwhelmingly in favor of law tenant governor. >> another swing for guadagno, her mannerisms and tones for new jersey, a lot feel that murphies not down-to-earth and not as relatable. i am ashley johnson reporting for chasing news. bill: thank you, ashley. all right. i want to bring in one of the candidates vying the next governor. the current lieutenant governor in new jersey. kim gaug dag know. welcome back. how are you. kim, in all honesty, no take point, nothing partisan. are you a little bit surprised give in the state of affairs in new jersey this race this is close? >> no, not at all. not at all. i said it during the primary. said id again when i won. have been saying it all summer long. when people realize that murphy is going to raise
3:04 am
everyone's taxes by millions of dollars over time, um, they realize, they cannot afford to live here any more. i called murphy. specifically, he sent a text. this is now at least the third maybe fourth attempt to have him come on and answer the question. i have a simple question and they continued to push back excuse after execution cues, can't do it today. can't do it tomorrow. i don't know. we'll ton give. the opportunity, but the question is. the question i wanted to ask you. you asked several times. what is it as far as now driving democrat has the undecided because we're seeing that the undecide numbers are up in the 20's. well, think it is two things. first he promised to raise taxes and the most taxed people in the country. they cannot afford to pi anticipate more in tax and realizing it is not just millionaires. it is a tax on everyone, no matter who they are, what they do. the other piece is the sanctuary state. new jersey is not a sanctuary
3:05 am
state. it will threaten law enforce. and it will take away resources from the federal government. why would anyone vote for anybody who was running? >> the other day, during the debate, your debate with murphy. he attacked your numbers saying you know the numbers are made up. wham do you say to that? >> i don't know. we put them on the web site. i have yet to see any contradiction of those numbers. he uses the numbers himself. so all right. kim, thanks. always good ta take to you. >> thanks, bill. bill: have a great weekend. all right. let's bring in the a-plus panel to break this down. andre, good see. thank fou bore being being here. >> you a columnist and an attorney and you lean slightly though left. jennette hoffman is here. political strategist. let me start with you. you have been a republican strategist for a long time. i brought that point up because during the debate,
3:06 am
kim says he is using the same numbers. what am i missing? >> murphies not a great candidate because he doesn't know how to a tk late his own policies. kim guadagno is adding up everything and by huge amount and $70 billion in the proposals and kim guadagno essaying, look, if you elect me, i willow are the property taxes or i will not run. >> let me ask you. he get it why they don't want to con the show. won't come on here. as the race tightens, democrats and republican is a degreing. why not get throughout and refute some of this? >> i think the first thing is, i don't think the raisin gel deg gites. one republican poll that said it was nine points but the race probably like 14-15 points as you get closer to election day. the margin does get a little slimmer. he think kim guadagno needs to be accurate with her plan as well. her tax proposal raises taxes
3:07 am
like chris christie's proposal has raised tax consecutively. because it has raised taxes for the last four years as well. last time, in my. think a candidate ran fullout on raising taxes with walter mondale. it didn't work out so well. how is it work in a state that ranked 50 and the state that has the highest taxes in the entire country and running a campaign seeing i got to raise taxes. the reason why, bill, the average voter is not voting on policies or taxes or answer thing else. the arching voter is voting on personality and right now, when we have donald trump in the white house, most of the voters are just voting against that. >> uninformed and dumb? not that they are uninformed or dumb. think think are a lot of factors that go into choosing a candidate. only one of them. if that is true. how do both translate. >> i was going to say. i think on personality and on policy kim gaug dag know is

3:09 am
>> it it ups me a member of congress would have listened in on that conversation. absolutley stuns me. and i thought, at least, that bass sacred. >> not letting this go. congresswoman frederica wilson came back at the chief of staff again bringing up the whole idea of what the president said and in her words saying it was insensitive and inappropriate. he is not backing down. >> let me tell you what my mother told me. when i was little, she said the dog can bark at the machine all night long, but it doesn't become an issue until the moon barks back. and then, it continues, another widow of a soldier killed back in april in afghanistan. they leased a red yo which was recording of the phone call president trump made to her saying that the president was appropriate and sensitive and the call had impact.
3:10 am
>> just amazing, amazing guy. >> oh. >> a great hero. well, thank you. president trump those words are kind f. all right. let's break it down with the a mus panel. former prosecutor, mob, thank you. just to start, it seems to me, frederica wilson has politicized the death of this green beret, and the word that's the president used, we have heard used in john kelly stated, his son died, overand over again, when you say something they knew what they were getting into. you are honoring them and saying they are hero. what did you say? >> i dis's degree the premise of the question. she did not spark this.
3:11 am
sh was started based upon a report ear question about what happened to those four soldiers. president trump with all due respect turned that into how no other president does it look he does it which started a firestorm. >> so you have got, bob just said, bus the president discussed former presidents, this congresswoman had a right to take words out of context and create firestorm over the deaded about dave green beret. des gusting. i don't foe. i haven't heard the tape. if she, that i is problematic. if she dy, she had every right to speak up for friend she's thought were mistreated and the fact that the trump administration is taking this and just beating it to death over and over and over. they are the ones that are plit sizing it. all she did was bring up something that bothered mere what do you say, andre? i know you don't have anything nice say about president trump but hard to criticize a man who lost his own son. no one is going to mack you
3:12 am
come out there and talk about your dead son? >> well, the sequence of events is accurate. was right. the president did politicize it first. representative wilson, actually, came back this morning and said she didn't want it to be about her. why was sergeant johnson separated from the crew? was was there faulty intelligence we didn't know isis was on the ground in africa? why was the vehicle unarmed? >> to be fair, the questions have not been answered. we only have speculation and rumor. we're now, in all of the tweets today, through this week, it seems to me, we have gone way bee cron the pone call and now questioning the president's poll sane the action of the military. we got to leave it there. ♪ coming up, not only new york city mayor bill deblass saysyee red sox fan but now he hates amazon land that are 50,000 jobs hanging in the balance. what is wrong with him? dan czarlow will have the great weekend forecast, coming up. >> a beautiful weekend of weather.

3:17 am
oltition sna that is saying something bus amazon is not a threat to have a world headquarters to local retailers and shop fuss hire 50,000 people. the retail shopses are going to expand. everybody has access on the internet. >> i done know if it is. because i think that words of support for small businesses resonate with people. i come from a background of many small business owners in a get what he is saying. i also think it is difficult to hate amazon but easy for him to say, hey, don't forget. >> this is unsettling trend among leading democratic polls not only now you have de blasio but murphy basically mack it impossible for amazon to come to nobodies if they lit lir have to build the right rail to come here. >> floor we po. >> here go. >> why? >> we're connecting de blasio. i agree with you. it is ridiculous because it providing economic engine to connect that to murphy now is completely different. murphy was saying he wants to make sure that new jersey
