for this time of year. right now allentown 19. 19 degrees in reading. philadelphia 24 degrees. look at trenton 22. dover 21. atlantic city 22 degrees. the coldest it has been since winter. we still have freeze warnings in effect until 10:00 a.m. temperatures in the teens and 20s. yeah, we have company. take look at pittsburgh 18 degrees. it is 21 in hartford. boston 23. new york city 25 degrees and look at baltimore 27 degrees. those are the air temperatures. factor in that wind, how your body reacts it feels like one mount pocono it feels like 13 in philadelphia. so hour by hour, those temperatures 26 degrees at 8:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m., 33. and what about afternoon high temperature of only 41 degrees. we'll fifty seven more coming up. back over to you. >> all right scott, just talked about it. we have to tell you that we have a weather alert this morning.

philadelphia's office of homeless services has declared its very first code blue of the season which will stay in effect until tomorrow morning. city officials you were concerned citizens if you see a person living on the streets call the homeless out reach that phone number (215)232-1984. all right. let's get to our big story, of course that forecast. it might want to make you stay inside. you're waking up to the cot coldest air of the season. jenny joyce is bracing it all in pennsauken. hi jenny. >> reporter: good morning lauren. it is definitely chilly out here and code blue has been in effect also here in camden county since last night. and throughout the night which meant that warming shelters were open county wide to keep people in from the cold. so yesterday we were out and about. we have red video we saw lots of people dressed much differently than the way that they were dressed a week prior because of the cold temperatures. we saw highs in the 30s but

yesterday it wasn't just chilly it was windy which made it that much worse. people out and about again all bundled up. we talked to one man this morning who says he had to dress in layers today because he works outside. >> the weather has changed dramatically compared to three four weeks ago when it was 75 degrees. so yes it's very cold. >> it's cold. you're bundled and you'll be outside all day for work? >> yes. >> how did you prepare? >> i have long underwear on. i have the long hat on that covers the whole face. this covers your skin. >> reporter: that man is prepared but hopefully his body can adjust. normally we ease into freezing temperatures but not this year. lauren that man also said he's doing okay. you want to know why? because his eagles are winning and that makes everything okay. that was his answer. we are actually going from south jersey to south philadelphia. we're going to head over to citizens bank park that is where we will be sponsoring the walk to end alzheimer's. so it will be a chilly morning there as well.

hopefully people are going to come out and dress appropriately appropriately. >> lauren. >> bundle up. all right jenny joyce, thank you very much. if you have to head out into the cold, we have a traffic note for you the westbound lanes of jfk boulevard closed between 20th street and schuylkill avenue. we're told crews will be working on that bridge as part of a rehabilitation program in the city. lanes are set to reopen by 5:00 o'clock on monday morning. let's turn to some breaking news from overnight deadly shooting in west philadelphia shuts down an entire block. police search for that shooter. it happened on lancaster avenue in north 50th street 2:30 this morning. a man in his 40s was shot several times while he sat in his truck. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. police have not arrested anyone for the murder. meanwhile a man is in the hospital after being shot by police. this happened in grays ferry on south 29th street. the officers say they were responding to a domestic dispute when the man tried to attack them with a knife. the officers were not hurt. the man is in critical condition condition. also overnight a deadly

crash in pemberton, new jersey w a pedestrian was hit and killed. it happened just before midnight on the pemberton bypass and shady lane. police aren't releasing many details but they do tell us the driver did stay on scene. it appears there were no other injuries. no word yet on what caused that crash. now to our top stories. president donald trump along with russian president vladimir putin repeating the call to defeat the islamic state in syria. tis after the pair met several times during the asian pacific cooperation in recent days within the last few hours president trump attended a state banquet in vietnam. tomorrow. alabama senate seat held by republicans for the past 20 years could be in danger of flipping after candidate roy moore is accused of sexual misconduct with teenage girls for decades. fox's caroline shive system in washington with the fallout. >> reporter: alabama senate candidate roy moore is under fire after four women say the

70-year-old purchase seed them when they were teenagers and he was in us early 30s. >> nobody abuses a 14-year-old age 32 or age 17 it doesn't matter. if i was abuse 14-year-old you shouldn't be a senate candidate. i agree with that, but i did not do that. >> reporter: roy moore vehemently denying a report in the washington post that says he had sexual contact with 14d and came on to three other teens all while he was more than 30 years old. the post says the women found it flattering at the time but found it disturbing decades later. the republican calls the allegations falls and politically motivated. >> this was a democrat maybe even the established republican effort to undermine this campaign because they don't want to hear the truth in washington, and they don't want to hear the truth bigoted and about the constittion ". >> reporter: many democrats are calling for moore to drop out of the race against democrat who publicly supported moore are

pulling their endorsements but many voters in alabama stand squarely behind him. >> i just don't believe roy moore did that. >> we might need to forgive and go on. he seems like a good guy to me. >> reporter: the real clear politics average of polls leading jones by almost five points. but most of those polls were taken before these allegations were made public. the special election is set for about a month from now. in washington caroline shively fox news. ♪ ♪ ♪ today is officially veterans day but throughout our area yesterday we paid tribute to those military men and women who served our nation. this was the 58th annual parade in media delaware county county. build as the largest of its kind in pennsylvania. full of patriotic marching bands, colorful floats and of course a lot of veterans there. of course if you want to share picture of your brave man

what is veterans day? >> i mean this should be more than a veterans parade. should be more than free food given out once year. look for those veterans every day, every day is vet advance day. every day these veterans suffer. >> reporter: quarter of homeless people are vets according to national coalition for the homeless. three quarters of them have drug and alcohol problems or mental illness. and vets organizations but they struggle too. which brings us to the other story. >> the veterans need more places to go to than the hospitals and stuff and the clinics. they need other places where they can go sit down socialize with other veterans or even social members and watch enjoy watching games. >> sure. >> other activities that go on all these posts too. >> reporter: bobby orr opening up the greater kensington vfw. he says he'll be happy if a dozen guys come by tonight. a lot of vfw halls are having a tough time. >> people in the city just don't care. that's the sad part. because you're having a lot of places close up at an an

>> reporter: yeah, they got their morning coffee at wawa. that was in south jersey. we have since moved to south philadelphia. we are live here at cbp citizens bank park where people are gearing up for the walk to end alzheimer's. so scott as you said right now temperatures when this walk begins at 11:00 o'clock this morning. it will get into the 30s hovering around freezing but we hope that that won't keep you from joining us out here today. yesterday when we saw a dramatic drop in temperatures.- not only did we linger in the 30s all day but itarsh wake-up call. we saw people out and about last night bundled up. philadelphia along with several a code blue which meant warming shelters were open and peonie we talked to woman in pennsauken who was stopping at wawa for warm coffee before long morning out in the cold. >> it's freezing already. i'm actually here because i'm grabbing my coffee to, um, watch my friend run the rocky run over in philadelphia by the art museum so i'll be out all morning. so this as move prepared as i

>> reporter: radnor police say 30-year-old michael leib drove all the way from michigan to quote hook up with an 18-year-old entertainer well known on youtube. after leib was spotted at their house tuesday cops pretended to be the boy using his cell phone to lure the suspect until he was in cuffs. >> because the parents had their child and the parents the police school district prior to arresting him making sure that the family was safe, the school was safe. >> reporter: copsib started messaging the teen on instagram weeks ago using a different name the whole time. after the first visit, late last month, cops say they tracked as many as five stops by the suspect as he sent chilling messages. >> officers arrived to find that there were several disturbing texts including i'm nine hours away specifically. the family's personal accounts started receiving e-mails saying, we are going -- i am going to take your son quote unquote. >>hi twitter page belonging to thehe sreus he calls himself a model and in one tweet he seeks a guy between

♪ it happened again. this time inside a church. 26 people killed and a mass shooting on sunday in a small town in texas. here we are again. different place different shooter, same result. in just 35 days, we experienced two of the the five worst mass shooting in modern american history. we're still trying to cope with that senseless tragedy in las vegas and now we're trying to understand why someone bent on evil killed so many people, 12 of them children. little more than a month ago i said this would happen again. i didn't think it would be so soon. why? we don't know. as usual there are calls for gun control as there always are after these types of shootings but nothing will happen. look i said last month if nothing happened after sandy hook nothing ever will. this massacre has taken a small town to its knees and as a country we're left stunned. we can see the frequency of these mass shootings increasing so we've got a sense of

hopelessness and it's growing nationally. why? we all want an answer. i don't have one. like i said last month there's more good in the world than evil. even in this horrific tragedy we saw good in the face of darkness just hours after the shooting about 100 people held a vigil fort victims. one local guy said the vigil's purpose was to show the world that now even in the middle of all this darkness there is some light. that's what we have to remember as we try to comprehend what's happening all too often. so while all we do now is remember the victims. while it seems hopeless don't give up because evil never wins. it never will. ♪ ♪ time now is 7:45 on this frigid saturday morning.& weather bite numbers scale of one to ten we'll give today a six. so bundle up. dress in layers. temperatures well below average. a high temperature later on this afternoon center city 41 degrees 41 degrees.- 42 down the shore. lehigh valley we'll muster up right around 40 degrees.

outlook. here's what to expect. ♪ as soon as we feel the first chill of fall everyone starts talking about winter. do you ever last year? you can say it was uneventful. ♪ >> the first measurable snowfall of the season wasn't until december 15th and it wasn't even a half an inch of snow. and then there was christmas. it rained christmas eve. it was mild with highs in the 50's. jack frost was nipping someone else's nose. as far as snow the biggest snowfall of the season was only 6-inches and that happened in march. it look like this winter season will be similar. ♪ >> thanks sue. we have to look at a whole light of climate data in order to compile the winter weather forecast. let's begin with the sea surface temperatures around the weak tour ya'll pacific region and look at the shades of blue that indicates cooler water so a building la nina pattern more active pacific jet meaning more storms there and likely wetter weather around sections of the

great lakes. but dry and warm for the southern tear of the united states. the jet stream could also be determined by some of the snow pack in russia and siberia and right now a pretty hefty amount of snow coverage there that could fuel some cold weather outbreaks for the lower 48, and also a negative ao pattern arctic oscillation. colder air and more storm systems moving in our direction that's one wild card. we'll have to watch. so the bottom line i think the pattern will be similar to last year. more snow in the mountains and less snow in the big cities like philadelphia baltimore and washington, d.c. ♪ let's break it down month by month. first, with temperature. december will be at or slightly above normal. january colder air will move in. we'll go 1 degree below normal. february i think we'll be at least 2 degrees above the monthly average temperature. and with march same thing. 1 degree above normal.

as far as snow, don't expect much in december. we will ease in the winter season with mainly a slight chance of a white christmas again. january will bring more clipper systems that will limit moisture to start the new year. but like last year, there will be a pattern change in late january through mid february when there will be a better chance of coastal storms with 6-inches or greater snowfalls. january will end up above averageow in march with two to 5-inches expected. so the fox 29 weather authority is forecasting 15 to 22-inches of snow. that's below the annual average of 22.4. >> did you hear my complaint? what? >> you were like what? >> you're like it's below average. >> so lesser amounts expected down the shore probably ten to 18-inches and then higher amounts once you move toward places like the lehigh valley and the pocono mountains where they're actually already making snow. >> i know. >> in the poconos. >> apparently.

boulevard closed between 20th street and schuylkill avenue. we are told that crews will be working on the bridge it's part of rehab program in the city. lanes are set to reopen by 5:00 o'clock on monday morning. let's turn to breaking news that happened while you were sleeping. a deadly shooting in west philadelphia shuts down an entire block overnight while police search for that shooter. it happened on lancaster avenue in north 50th street around 2:30 this morning. we're told money in his 40s was shot several times while he sat in his truck. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. police have not arrested anyone for that murder. meanwhile man is in the hospital after being shot by police. this happened in grays ferry on south 29th street. the officers say they were responding to a domestic dispute when the man tried to attack them with a knife. the officers were not hurt. the man is in critical condition condition. also overnight a deadly crash in pemberton, new jersey, where a pedestrian was hit and killed. this happening just before midnight on the pemberton bypass and shady lane. police not releasing many

41 degrees. 42 down the shore and 40 for the lehigh valley. hour by hour we're dry and quiet but clouds kind of increase for your sunday and sunday night into monday there might be a spotty shower but it doesn't look like a big deal. that weather authority seven day fioricet cast showing the morning freeze on this saturday. temperatures by the afternoon 41 degrees. low 50s for your sunday. and temperatures moderate back to right around seasonal levels for much of next week. the next best chance for rainfall not until next friday. it's a cold saturday morning. but i'll be joining jenny joyce and my colleagues later on down at citizens bank park for that walk to end alzheimer's. of course, jenny is down there live on this saturday morning and we'll have much more from her coming up. >> how about now scott because thousands of people are already bracing the cold. they're getting ready to walk to end alzheimer's. jenny joyce has been down there where many of the family members are and there are members of the fox 29 family as well. how is it?

>> reporter: yes, i know. i was going to say scott i saw your name on the list. when you come down here obviously you know as our meteorologist that you have to bundle up today. but you're not going to be alone alone. we have alex holley coming down. dave schratwieser, we have sue serio, we have a lot of our fox 29 talent going to be here today for the start of the walk which is at 11:00 o'clock. as we said ceremonies begin at 10:00 o'clock this morning much it is still going to be chilly around that time i'm joined by andy hun. we don't think the weather is going to diminish attendance. >> sun is coming out. it'sing looking good. it's going to be nice and warm. warm in our hearts here. >> in the last half hour, we learned that philadelphia has had the most success with these walks. last year raising $1.5 million. >> number one in the country. >> reporter: number one in the country. we want to know why. we want to know how philadelphia has rallied and why they've rallied. tell me about your personal story. >> i think a lot of people have a story like mine. my father got early onset

alzheimer's. he started showing signs at age 53. my mom and i took care of him for over 18 years. spend over $1.1 million on dad' care. people that are just crushed by this disease and we're all kind of of coming together and there's a passion for it. i think that's the difference. i'm glad to tell you that today we have over 650 volunteers just volunteers and that's more than we had walkers 17 years ago. >> report roar yeah. >> we've actually expecting expecting over 15,000 people today. >> reporter: you said all of that support has really shown in the medical advancements made for this disease, in the support and the care for the patients and the families. >> that is and also the support from the government. we got the legislation passed that is given us over a billion dollars of care which is fantastic. >> reporter: well, thank you for sharing your story. and we're happy to be here today. fox 29 a proud sponsor of the

and yeah, saturday. in philadelphia, bill rohrer, fox 29 news. all right. with thanksgiving just around the corner, pumpkins seem to be everywhere including here in our studios. even a twist of pumpkins. while it's tough to escape the oversized squash you may want to give it a secon people who suffer from auto immune diseases. this morning she is sharing the benefits of this autumn food. good morning and thanks for being with us. >> good morning. thank you. >> so first i was so surprised by this. that pumpkin is packed with protein. >> it is. yeah. it actually has about 50% more protein than some, um, nuts such as almonds and walnuts. >> wow. >> yeah. of course we know the protein is good for building lean muscle and reduceing cravings and energy. great for protein sources. >> i love it. the other thing that sort of surprised me i know it's orange i wasn't thinking like pumpkin and vitamin c.

>> yeah. so one of the things i think is oh interesting is that the um, nature provides us with all the foods that we need during a particular season. so the fall harvest has all of the pumpkins, winter squash that have that rich orange color that's rich in alpha carotin and beta carotin which helps to prevent colds flu even some forms of cancer. so it's really good for immune boosting and then of course you mentioned vitamin c. that's amazing for your skin. >> yeah. >> it really helps to, um, improve your skin tone, prevent um the visible impacts from pollution and even improve the production of collagen which is going to give that you youthful glow. >> i was looking at my neck. oh boy. >> yeah. >> i need pumpkin on here. >> that you go. >> next one surprised me. when we're dawking pumpkin and preventing cramps menstrual cramps for women or cramp from all over your body from hurting and getting old. >> muscle cramps. if you're working out it's very
