weather that happened over the past year. i am bill spadea. this is "chasing news." bill: a big question in new jersey as governor elect bill murphy gets set and whether he will be able to make good on the campaign promise to make recreational use of marijuana legal across the board. he is already fighting some resistance from the democrats and the republicans some members of the state senate say hold on governor elect, not so fast. now some council members in the city of linden pushing back saying we got a lot of questions first. ashley johnson has the full story. ashley, a do you got for us. reporter: new jersey governor elect bill murphy has n not said much since the election about the campaign promise to helloize recreational marijuana in the first 100 days in office they are seaing out and number of concerns. i spoke to long-time state senator ron rice in newark who said, there needs to be more research on the effects recreational mr mr has had in

place writs is legal. linden councilman peter brown shares those concerns. >> well, a lot of people have been talking about the revenue that has come in. the potential revenue. no one has talked about the expense of it. it is going to be happen. no one talked about increase in homelessness. that some cities has seen. no one has talked about the social issues that have been caused as a result of this. >> well, recently formed city committee that evaluates the social economic and quality of life impact legalizing marijuana have on linden. the biggest concerns are public health and law enforcement. >> big prime issue we are dealing with here in linden when i put my judge into court is the javy drugs such as hef wen and opiates. that should be addressed. reporter: murphy expected to are a raise $300 million in sales tax ref nu from legalizing marijuana under the current bill, they will receive one percent from sales tax ref hue. brown says 3% for linden will

bill: what do you know who the bill that would allow gun owners like you who are lel ap licensed in the home state to carry the firearm legally across state lines. >> i am still learning every day. that was what point of having a license to carry when you can't carry it where you want to go on your person? bill: what role did you play in getting this bill, now where it is at, pass the house, headed to the senate? what did you do in d.c.? >> the bill i have been pushing for a year now. i have been going back and forth to washington, d.c., knock on each congressman's door. see how they felt about what happened and tell me they didn't want me carrying a firearm. i protect myself ap my children.
